This place has lots of room with a nice bar area. We had a large party and the service was 100%! Our server, I think her name was Norel was great at her job but the support for the big party was stellar! Food was very good with homemade tortillas, corn and flour- the flour was my favorite! I tried the cucumber jalapeño margarita but not the best, had to send it back. But my friend had the watermelon one and that was good! Great dinner tonight. They just expanded the restaurant so plenty of seating. We were seated right away on a Saturday night at 7:30pm. We ordered the fajitas for 2. It arrived about 10 min after we ordered. Everything was fresh and hot. The fajitas came out on a sizzling flat iron. It was served with some amazing tortillas, rice, beans, guacamole and pico. The restaurant is very laid back. No need to dress up to come here -- unless you want to. The waitress was very attentive and served us quickly and checked on our drinks periodically. They have TVs throughout the restaurant. I watched the Olympics from my booth. They have free WiFi with the password at the Front desk. I think they have a private party room. Been wanting to try Juanita's for a while and it did not disappoint. I went with the Especial #2 and my wife went with the fajitas burrito. We had 1 frozen margarita and one especial margarita on the rocks. The frozen was a little tart but refreshing. I went with the Especial #2 because it had all the staples. Taco, cheese puff, cheese enchilada, and taco al carbon. All were very good but the cheese enchilada was fantastic!! Our other dish was the fajita burrito and it had an ample serving that quite possibly could have fed 2 people. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. Visited this place for brunch on Mother's Day 2026. I've lived in south Texas all my life. Traditionally , we have barbacoa and menudo on Sunday mornings. So, I decided to try their menudo and barbacoa tacos. The menudo was okay, doesn't compare to the stuff we have back home, but it was edible. I was surprised on the barbacoa, there is no way this is barbacoa (beef head/cabeza de res). I'm saying this because I grew up on barbacoa de poso or pit. My grandfather sold barbacoa for over 40 years, so I know what it looks like and what it tastes like. Honestly, i believe what they served me was boiled brisket. Being that I had just landed in Houston and was really hungry. I ate it anyway. Sorry, Juanita's but you ain't fooling me or anyone from south texas. The ambience was appealing, waitress/staff was lacking. I say that because I think i dealt with 4-5 different people during my visit . So sad! We were looking forward to the new store opening. We loved the old location. Anyway, we arrived around 5 p.m. on a Friday. Walked in. It was confusing right off the bat. Didn't know where to check in. Left? Right? And the bar hits you in the face! Too close to door. We were seated (felt like on top of others). Tables are WAY TOO CLOSE and the bright lights were terrible! Dim the lights! I thought I was in a school cafeteria. And the noise! There are no soft surfaces to absorb sound. And the waiter. My husband and I got home from a late night of work and decided we would GrubHub some Juanita's for dinner. This is supposed to be Chalupa's supreme With mixed fajita meat. I got no fajita meat, I didn't even get Chalupa's. $17.95 for this. If I could give them negative stars I would. When we called to complain, the receptionist was less than helpful. She was somewhat rude and blamed it on GrubHub. GrubHub did not make the order. I used to really like this place, but after this experience I will never ever, ever, go back. The skinny margaritas are absolutely marvelous, made with top-shelf tequila and love! The staff are still on top of their game even while implementing a new system that better serves the customer's! We used to enjoy going to the original Juanita's up the street, but till this evening, have not been to this new location since it opened. I don't know maybe 2 years now? Anyway.... Sorry to say that I haven't missed out. From the beginning...the lady that sat us down was very unwelcoming, opening the menu the prices were much higher than expected for Tex Mex. I visited for lunch last Sunday and ordered the mixed fajitas with homemade corn tortillas (they offer both corn and flour homemade) for $19. First to arrive were the chips and two red salsas one warm and one cold. Both were good but I preferred the warmer version. I thought it had more flavor. The entree came out in about 10 minutes on a sizzling platter. I started with the charro beans and while good tasting only average in my opinion. The beef fajitas could have been more tender but then I can say that about many other restaurants versions too and they had good flavor. The chicken was about the same in taste. Ok but not standing out. The meal is advertised as coming with green peppers and onions on the platter and mine had an adequate amount of onions but only one piece of a green pepper. Oh well... I will say the corn tortillas were fresh and tasty. Probably the best part of the meal. Table service was good. I could tell during my meal that this restaurant is well run and organized. A section inside is devoted to making the tortillas and overall interior decor is nice and festive. Overall the meal was a 3 and while everything was ok nothing is pulling me back in a hurry. read more

Super disappointed! We couldn't wait to go to their new location! The new restaurant is very upbeat, the decor is relevant and cool. The staff is "spot on" friendly, helpful and attentive. So what's disappointing? ....THE FOOD and the PRICES. I guess we're going to be paying for their new digs. Had a salad that we split ($19). Very little fajita meat and watered down head lettuce. Added to that order was a large queso. The queso had zero flavor as it was thinned out so much plus it didn't come w/jalapeño. Total bill for boring, tasteless meal was around $38. NO THANK YOU! They pad their margaritas with something - I'm assuming everclear. I've been to both locations and keep giving them a try cause they're local but their drinks taste off and get you way more hammered than desired. I thought it was lite/aspartame at first but they are a lot more alcoholic than normal. Sounds good but it's unsafe and you can't pace yourself properly if driving. It is an extremely irresponsible practice. Their food is also greasy and sub par. There are much better and honest places around. read more

I asked the server if I could have a single corn tortilla to put under the crispy beef taco to help when it inevitably falls apart and if he was going to charge me. The answer was yes - restaurant rules. First negative check mark. It comes with rice and beans - great! I want the charro beans instead of refried. Sorry señor, cost an extra dollar. Second negative check mark. On the plus side - decor was very nice, margarita was pretty good, and warm salsa was tasty. The refried beans were disappointing on multiple levels. Firstly, the flavor was severely lacking, offering little to no seasoning or depth. The texture was unappealing, and the presentation left much to be desired. The overall experience fell far short of expectations, leaving me with a regretful aftertaste. The charro beans, were not bad, but also lacking flavor. If you eat here I'd suggest go with charro beans. The fajita chicken in my quesadilla was too dry and hard to chew. After careful consideration, I have decided not to return to Juanita's Mexican Restaurant. While the location was appealing and the staff were friendly and attentive, the overall experience on the food fell short of my expectations. We have driven by Juanita's a zillion times. Saw a ton of cars there last week, so I told my hubby we just HAVE to finally check them out! We went in for lunch on a Sunday so, needless to say, it was very quiet. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately. The atmosphere is your typical TexMex restaurant style. I like that we could watch the Texans game during our lunch. We both ordered small frozen margs and one large queso with ground beef to share. The queso was pretty good. But the margs! Holy hell they were sooo strong! That was the strongest margarita I've had in a long while! Whoooo! Wow! As far as the food goes-my chalupas were delish! My husband ordered the enchiladas verdes with chicken fajitas--which he specifically mentioned to our server. His only gripe is that they came with shredded chicken instead. Just visited the new Juanita's Mexican Kitchen on Louetta. We were very pleased to see a nice big bar right when we walked in. The hubs and I enjoy sitting at the bar for lunch/dinner since it's normally just the two of us. We were met with a very nice and helpful bartender immediately. He let us know about their happy hour specials, daily until 6pm. Beer, margaritas and 6-7 great food items. I had the jalapeño margarita and hubs had the Mexican Old Fashion. Both were great. They serve their fresh chips with 2 salsas - one mild and one spicy. Both were good. Ordered the queso with fajita meat. Delish. Our meals were delicious and came out correct to order. The jalapeno sausage was really good. Their beef fajita meat was really tender. The bacon wrapped shrimp was cooked perfectly. Only thing missing was that awesome scampi butter. The restaurant exterior and interior is very nice. They also have a patio that's going to be great for the spring and fall days. All in all we were very pleased and we will be back. Often! read more
