The interior looks pretty small because the store is narrow, but looks can be deceiving because there's actually a good amount of seating! Be warned the doors parking here is a little crazy so you'll likely have to drive past the store and park in the nearby neighborhoods. We ordered three larges, two strawberry and one ingeolmi for 5 adults & 1 child, but I definitely think we could have gotten away with sharing three smalls. Compared to the Newark location, we were pleasantly surprised with the bingsoo here! I don't know if we were remembering it incorrectly, but we really enjoyed that instead of one huge block of the shaved ice, there were layers between with the flavors of the bingsoo. The strawberry jam or syrup that they use was so good!! I agree with the yelp reviews that talk about how sticky the bowls are!! My friends and I stopped by Mandro on a Friday evening around 9:20 p.m. and the dessert shop was pretty crowded. There wasn't anyone at the counter so we ordered through the self-service kiosk. Unfortunately for the staff working at Mandro that evening, the machine printing out orders actually broke down, resulting in customers having to repeat their order so it could be written down and sent in to the kitchen. The short-staffing at Mandro definitely contributes to long waits: we waited close to 45 minutes before we received our single dessert -- the injeolmi shaved snow with a side of mangos. The dessert itself was really well made. The shaved snow was light and fluffy, the ripe mangos were sweet, and the rice cakes had a nice chew to them. They were really thoughtful in the construction of the dessert -- layering the shaved snow with scoops of red bean, so you don't end up in a situation where you only have snow at the bottom without any toppings. I would stop by Mandro again for Asian desserts, but possibly aim to go during an off-hour when they might not be as busy. read more

This is by far my favorite Mandro Chains in the bay area. I have been to the Newark and milpitas location but this one tasted so much better and the fruit was really sweet and delicious on the bingsoo. Got there after dinner and there wasn't too many people but after we left the place was getting packed. There are about 6 tables that can fit 4 people. Not a super big place but roomy enough. We ordered at the front and got a mango and strawberry bingsoo with rice cakes on the side. (rice cakes are a must IMO) There was 4 of us and we killed all of it. I would say that 1 bingsoo can fill up 2 people. I haven't tried the other flavors but I know the other flavors are really popular but the mango one was by far my favorite. Also, the best way to describe the dessert is like shaved ice but creamy but super light and fluffy! I was disappointed because there was a lot less Oreos than I thought there would be. I'm not even sure if there were any. The drink was served in a paper cup with a plastic lid covering. There might have been a light dusting of Oreos on top but I didn't taste any. It tasted like any regular taro drink. Not a knock on their drinks, just that this one didn't deliver Oreo at all even though it was in the drink name. The taro drink itself was still good. I stopped by to order a mango bingsoo, regular size, no extra toppings, to go. They were pretty fast with getting it out - 5-10 minutes wait - and packaged it in a plastic bowl. When including tip and tax, it came out to $15.70, so not cheap but pretty typical for bingsu nowadays. There isn't outdoor seating at Mandro itself, but if you just walk next door, there's an outdoor parklet that you can sit at (which I assume either belongs to the neighboring restaurant or is shared by the few businesses in that area). The bingsoo was fine, the mango tastes fresh and has a nice smooth texture. If you like sweets and dairy, then you will enjoy the condensed milk. The ice itself is soft and powdery. They also gave us an additional small plastic cup of condensed milk so that you can pour it on the dish as you eat through it. I thought the regular size was plenty enough for two or three people to split as a small dessert, so unless you have a huge appetite, there may be no need to get the large size (even though I'd presume it might be more economical for amount of food relative to price). I haven't tried their drinks, but they do sell boba/teas and the prices for most of them seemed pretty average compared to most boba shops ranging between $5-7, with a few items on the regular tea menu being a bit cheaper than average (in the $4 something range). read more

Unfortunately they only come with cold options, but the texture and flavors are on point! My usual - Taro grass jelly with Taro Balls, red bean, and boba + BINGSOO: The bingsoo's are massive - the shaved snow has a wonderful fluffy milky texture that you can accentuate with more condensed milk if you prefer. They also bury more fruit under the initial massive mound, so don't worry about poor fruit-to-snow ratios :) + DRINKS: I need to try more of them, but I LOVE the black sesame taro milk. Very soft and fluffy bingsu I havent had much bingsu so i dont have much to compare but its a good place. I personally like the fruit bingsu more (mango and strawberry) though my parents liked the matcha and mango most. Generally everyone liked the mango bingsu though, that one was perfect Mango Bingsu is sweet and has that mango flavor (if I have to critique one thing, the mangos do have a slight unripe flavor but it is easily overlooked by the soft texture and sweet mango flavor). It gets sweeter the further you dig down Strawberry bingsu is my second favorite, as far as I'm concerned, the top of the bingsu is perfect, I love strawberries and it added a nice sweet flavor to the bingsu (my dad noticed right away some sour flavor at the top). The further you dig down though, you start really noticing the sour flavor since it get concentrated Matcha bingsu, I personally didnt taste much from it, it only has flavor when you dig into the red bean parts in my experience. Theres also some mochi pieces deeper inside 3 is more than enough for 4 people (2 adult and 2 teenagers), we shouldve just gotten 2 cause we almost couldnt finish 3. Surprisingly ice can be filling Theres Self checkout Condensed milk already comes with the bingsu. If you add more they come in cups like in the pic. Used to love going to the Mandro in Newark so I was super excited that they opened one near Oakland. Came here to the alameda location for the third time because I wanted some bingsoo. Such a disappointment. Where do I even start... 1. They ran out of their dollar tree store styrofoam plates so good luck trying to share the bingsoo with more than two people. We ended up using the plastic lid that it came with. And you're wondering how do I know those plates that they USED to have are from Dollar Tree?? It's because I also use those plates to feed the stray cats in my backyard and same for the plastic spoons they give you 2. The mango was SOUR and INEDIBLE. Had to take out all the mango. So much for "Mango" bingsoo 3, I ordered Jasmine Green Tea, I went thru TWO straws because they kept breaking on me. Thank god I was still inside of the store to get a third straw. Just came to Mandro at 3:28 PM today (a Tuesday with no holidays) and they're still closed when they're open on Yelp and online. Literally, every chair was still on the tables, lights off, no worker in sight. No adjusted hours sign or explanation anywhere, just flat out closed. If you're going to be closed and opened at random hours, you should at least post something on your door to let customers know the reason why you're not open when you typically are. UNRELIABLE HOURS, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. Stopped by to try their bingsoo, and was greeted by a sign on the front door that said 'closed, will return at 10:40.' I was a little confused because it was 1pm, the middle of lunch hour, so I knocked on the door. An employee was inside and came to the front door and just gave hand signals to say 'closed, go away'. Would have been helpful to have at least opened or talked through the front door to say 'closed due to whatever reason'. Tried to call the store but the call wouldn't go through. Apparently there are a few styles of these desserts. Total for Bingsoo was about $15. We also had another item-- it had puddings and gelled bits, they were mostly very light and mild flavors, and not easy to eat with a spoon (very slippery and messy). Alameda finally has a bingsoo spot! Hands down the best dessert in town. Best flavors are mango, matcha, injeolmi, and strawberry. Injeolmi isn't super sweet so it's my moms favorite :) Seating is very limited and when it gets busy in there you can end up waiting for a while. Also, the condensed milk and fruit tends to fall off the sides of the bowls so the tables are sticky and the staff don't always clean up after the last person. read more

Went to MandRo in Davis a few years ago, and am happy to find that my favorite bingsoo items were available here as well. Flavor and quality felt comparable to what I remembered from the Davis location (that's a good thing). Matcha red bean bingsoo was yummy, and there was a layer of toppings on the inside that kept it a little more balanced throughout. We ordered an extra condensed milk ($0.50 per extra serving) since this particular bingsoo flavor doesn't have very much natural sweetness. Tip: The bowls are filled to the brim and then some. If you pour condensed milk over the top right away, there's a good chance that a tragic amount of it will slide down your bingsoo mountain and onto the table. Instead, just use your spoon to scoop up a little bit of condensed milk into each bite at the beginning. Once your bingsoo mountain is covered in bite sized craters, then pour what's left over the entire thing. read more

I ordered the mango bingsoo and it's the perfect dessert to share between two to three people. It says mango and strawberry are seasonal, so I'm not sure what other fruits will rotate on the menu for the different seasons. A big plus that they don't skimp on the mango! I would also say condensed milk is a must. The only downside to this storefront is that there was a strong bleach smell when I walked in, which is why I decided to get it to go.
