Note: Do not have Kate work on your hair if it's dark and you're are trying to lighten it or have an ombre done. Total dissapointment!!! I use to have shiny black hair, now I have, brittle, dry, very damaged, hair, after getting an ombre done by Kate. The lighter part of my hair has turned orange. I noticed the second day that the ombre was uneven, one side was higher then the other, she left black strands of hair behind that she forgot to color. I called her immediately and I got the salons voice message, I left a message stating my concern and my call back number. I never recieved a call back. I'm sadden and very upset that I didn't go with my original referral and that was with Mari her colleague. The worse mistake of my life. read more

I like my hair long so whenever I need to get a cut, I also would like for the cut to grow well with my hair length. The stylist who worked on my hair did just an amazing job! She also knew exactly what I was talking about with my shoddy explanation of how I wanted it to be. I told her that I'm a stay at home mom of 4, and that I don't have a lot of time to style my hair. She understood I needed a cut that didn't need a whole lot of attention for everyday. She also did my son's hair. The stylist suggested he get a "gentleman's cut", and ever since then, he's been getting so many compliments on how handsome he is! Oh, and their prices are very reasonable for the work that they do. Great location with plenty of parking, The chairs are filled when I've gone in so they're busy which is GREAT. Mari always takes care of me on time and doesn't play with her phone while she's working. That's a big deal to me because some stylists do a great job but don't offer solid service and Mane Affair Beauty Lounge has the whole package. Mari can style different ethnic types of hair and she does it without hesitation. She's so sweet and friendly. i've seen her interact with many clients and she knows them all very well. Her styling technique is amazing. she always asks what you want and actually does it! My hair always comes out looking fabulous and I feel like a million bucks when I leave. There is never a stray hair on my head that isn't styled. She's done my relaxer, press, trims, and styling so I trust her with anything! I never got to use the salon because I was never given an appointment in the first place. I called on Monday, hoping to make an appointment for a haircut during that week. I spoke with someone whose name I think was Kate (but I could be wrong), and told her I was available every single day of the week, but that I could only do mornings or 4pm onwards. To my surprise, they had nothing at all for my requested hours for any day, including the Monday a week later. She offered to take my phone number and to try and fit me in on Friday or Saturday after talking to the stylists. I was promised a call or text back, but that never happened. I found another salon in the meantime, so no big deal, but I was somewhat put off by the total lack of availability when I was so flexible with days, and even more, the lack of a follow up. read more

She was very knowledgeable on the process of a Brazilian blowout and she walked me through the steps she was doing on my hair. She did a trim and Brazilian blowout in under two hours. I've been going to Kate for several years now and I wouldn't dare go anywhere else. Being a "mature" woman, I didn't look as youthful as I felt. When I first met Kate Leone she forwardly stated that I was going to walk out a new woman. And I did. I felt 10 years younger. I was no longer a gold blonde but rather a beigy blonde. She placed low-lights to add fluidity. She even told me I should grow my bangs out. I wasn't sure if that was a good idea because my forehead is starting to show signs of wrinkling but I listened. Got me scheduled in on short notice and gave me a terrific Brazilian blowout. Salon has a different name outside so finding it is tricky but now I know where it is and I will be back! A bit mixed on the place. First of all, they do not return emails. Second, the place wasn't the cleanest and didn't have the most ambiance. I've been there 3x and each time when I went to pick up my purse I've seen a ton of hair and dust on the floor. May has done 2 Brazilian blowouts on me. She did an excellent job and was friendly and cordial. For my 3rd BB I had a black guy there do my hair who was imo quite rude. He avoided talking to me and when he did the comments were rather insulting talking about how my hair color didn't look good (it ticks me off when hair dressers belittle the work of others), and how he only works on undamaged hair (yes, a hair dresser actually said that to me as he is working on me). It hasn't been long and my hair seems okay but the quality (and experience) was definitely better with May. The owner later chimed in basically making me feel like shit the whole time I was there. I should be made to feel pretty when I'm at a salon, not made to feel like I look bad. I wanted to cry seriously. At this point in time, I would rather just not return to Mane Affair and take my business elsewhere. It's not a great experience to leave basically being told you have ugly hair that is messed up. Not returning. UPDATE: 5/16/16 Owner responded on here to me. Check out her responses to people who don't rate her salon highly.... Very unprofessional- I'm sorry you find my review comical as you described it.Chuck (guy I got) didn't even introduce himself to me so the appointment already started off as a disaster with me being uncomfortable thrown in with him insulting me so of course I will be standoffish when someone treats me that way. I feel someone should feel good when they are getting beauty treatments and not feeling worse about themselves but that does't appear to be a value you have. Luckily I found a good hair stylist since I moved back who does good work, is professional, is a nice person, and more importantly, makes me feel good. Best of luck to you and your business. Decided to stop in and get a quick blowdry so that I can test the skills of the stylists there. I will admit i was nervous because this was my first time at Mane Affair and first time for my daughter to wear makeup. I was nervous about how the makeup would turn out but it looked so glamorous yet natural and everyone kept asking me who had done her makeup and hair. There was a slight issue with the hairdo my daughter wanted and the type of crown we had but Kate made it work and she ended up doing this really elegant glamorous updo to fit the crown.
