Went to Gaddabout for the last 5 years and decided to find another place that doesn't feel like a concept salon; actually walked into without an appointment at Mane ST to see if anyone would take me in for a trim. Allison fit me in between clients. She is very talented, especially given that my hair is coarse and long, with brassy tones. She expertly did a very posh trim and toned out all the brass, styled it the way I like it, I didn't have to go home and re style. I would recommend her for long hair. An absolute sh!t show of a salon. Super unorganized and ZERO communication. I have NEVER had my hair done professionally and was so excited to go blonde for the first time!! I work in healthcare. I CALL my patients the day before to ensure they will be at their appointment. I have a lash appointment on Saturday again my girl texted me to confirm. Shelly is the absolute worst. I had my original appointment on 3/24 I was so excited. I hadn't heard from her so I just assumed I was good. The day of 2 hours before my appt she texts and asks if we are still on I said absolutely! She said oh, well I didn't hear from you so I booked someone else in your spot! She said she called twice. NEVER received a missed call from this woman. I was so sad! I took the day off work and everything. She said she could re-book me for the 6th of April waited all day. You would think after that "fiasco" she would call or text to confirm TO MAKE SURE. Nope. I just assumed she booked someone else again. She then has the audacity to text me and say I waited 30 mins I am leaving. My appt was at 5:30pm after research it takes hours to go blonde. I feel like I would have gotten a half assed job and i have a wedding in 2 weeks. Thank God I found a stylist who actually used to work here and left because of how poorly ran they are. The establishment is tucked away in the shopping center by Trader Joes. The business is owned by Kim and she is wonderful, funny and outgoing. My stylist is Melody and she has been cutting my hair for the past three years. I like that she is a perfectionist and takes painstaking time to do an incredible job. I also like that she is so personable and we can chat and banter one another making the time in the chair just pass by unnoticed. Cost is very reasonable (under $25). Over the years I've seen some of the work on her female clientele and was impressed by the transformation she can create (cuts, color, style, etc.). The location also does pedicures, manicures, and massages. If you're new to town or not happy with your current salon, stop by and give Mane Street a visit. I have to say I was a bit worried when I went in for my hair cut. I use Yelp often, since moving here, but didn't for hair cuts. Let's just say I had some bad cuts. I asked for Melody since there was a positive review about her being great at cutting short hair. Not only did she have to cut my hair, she had to fix the previous bad cuts. I walked out feeling so much better. My hair is close to looking normal again and I don't feel covering my head any more. I very much miss one of the best hair stylists I've ever had, Aysha. She moved here to Mane Street a few years ago from Phoenix, and I was lucky enough to be one of her first clients in the Tucson area. I referred all of my friends to her, and now she's so busy she is booked weeks in advance. She listens to what you want- even telling you when you told her something different on the last visit- you know, for when you get those "wild hairs" and think about chopping off what you've been growing out for the last 5 years? She was like- uh, no, but if you tell me you still want to cut it next time I will cut it off. She was right, and I am so glad she listened to what I meant and not what I said. Mane Street is a busy, friendly little place with an aesthetician, quite a few chairs, and a nice staff. Highly recommend. I hadn't gotten my hair done in about 4 years and I hadn't gotten my haircut in about 7 months. I wanted a change, I wanted a balayage. That's what I requested when I spoke to my hair stylist. What I left with is something I did not ask for. I had all over highlights that didn't quite go to my roots, but weren't blended properly. It looks like my roots had already grown out. Some pieces of my hair were so light they are basically white. Some of the pieces were patchy, some pieces where much larger than others. I had also requested a haircut. What I left with was choppy and uneven. It wasn't even a haircut, it was a few cuts and I was sent on my way. I came back to get it fixed. I had communicated that I wanted my haircut to be fixed and my highlights to be darker. When I arrived, I was told there would not be time for a haircut. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed. My hair is still uneven, I didn't get what I asked for, and I was charged for a haircut I never received. I will certainly not be returning and this is exactly why I avoid the salon. read more

Made appointments for 9am for my mother-in-law and sister-in-law to get there hair done to attend a wedding. Arrived on time, one of the stylist was there he sat at the desk and took our name then sat there for ten minutes. We discussed the right time schedule we were on. 9:15 I asked if he couldn't fide our appointment. He answered that he sees the but was trying to figure out the system. Finally he took my sister in-law back to do her hair. I asked at 9:30 about the stylist for my mother-in-law. His answer, "yay that stylist called in sick, I tried to get another stylist in but couldn't. I think I'm just going to have to do both". Why didn't he tell us in the beginning? The website said it would take 25-30 minutes. He finished with my sister in-law at 9:50am. If he new the other stylist was unavailable and someone was waiting for a 9 am appointment that wasn't going to be seen until an hour later he should have said that in the beginning and let us make the choice to stay or go somewhere else. I've gone here a couple of times and overall find it to be a nice little salon that basically will meet your needs. They do hair, nails, coloring etc. It's in a good location right next to Trader Joe's & Starbucks-- get my hair done, my coffee fix, and my shopping done at the same time :-) However, I've never had an "amazing" experience here. It's pretty average and the service I receive is mediocre/ average. Usually I've found that at any salon I've gone to-- the salons and the hair dressers are fairly average and the service is usually pretty average too. (I've only had one person in my entire life at another salon I went to who gave me an "amazing" hair cut and made me feel like a million bucks but she's long gone so can't go back to her.) The first time I went here I asked for a specific style and even had a picture but the stylist couldn't do it. The next time I went in the lady didn't seem to know how to cut my hair-- so overall not a spectacular experience but not bad either.
