    Special Pasta Bolognese

A hidden gem just over the bridge from SGI. Wasn't expecting much with the simple decor but we were pleasantly surprised. Staff super friendly. Menu limited compared to other Italian restaurants but everything was amazing. I encourage you to consider their specials which change daily. Our entrees included the Special Pasta Bolognese, Tortellini Marinara, Stuffed Shells, Linguini in Aurora Sauce with Grilled Chicken. The Bread and Salads were delightful. Very nice wine list as well. We will return.

Very good food, nice atmosphere and great customer service. I would recommend giving this place a try.

    Lasagna

Food a 10+. Wow. As good as it gets, seriously. The spinach & artichoke dip went so fast I almost didn't get a picture. My lasagna had beef and pork and excellent marinara sauce. The angel hair pasta with aurora sauce was fantastic. A spicy taste that came after you had swallowed! Wow. A 10 for sure and a must stop when in the area.

Food and atmosphere were great as a lunch spot. I think it's more like a 5star cafe than a 5 star fine dining restaurant. Sandwiches and soup are excellent. It's clean a friendly.

The only Italian restaurant on the Forgotten Coast and it's worth the trip. Service was good. Everyone was attentive to our needs. It's not fancy or quiet, but the food is good. The chicken parm was a large breast with a tasty and crispy coating. Lasagna had several layers of cheese and pasta with a load of melted mozzarella and beef sauce on top. The pasta was not mushy at all which happens all too often with lasagna. It took no time for the food to arrive either. Be aware that many of the menus online are wrong. There is a limited selection of entrees. The crowd starts coming in about 6pm so might have to wait for a table if you get there after that.

    One of the daily specials.

We were so impressed that we recommended this place to multiple people and were genuinely excited to come back last Sunday. Unfortunately, this visit was a complete disappointment from start to finish. The service was noticeably worse, the beer selection was extremely limited compared to before, and the food was honestly some of the worst seafood we've had in years. We ordered the fried calamari and the mixed grilled seafood plate. The calamari was chewy, flavorless, and the batter had an unpleasant texture. The mixed seafood plate was even worse - the oysters looked, smelled, and tasted awful, and the fish, shrimp, stuffed crab and scallops were completely bland. Even the fried okra, which should be an easy Southern staple, was disappointing. We left wondering if they changed chefs or management because the difference from our first experience was shocking. Even my mom, who is far from a picky eater, could barely eat her food. It's genuinely upsetting because this used to be a place we loved and enthusiastically recommended to others. Sadly, after this experience, we won't be returning.

Service was spot on the bartenders are attentive and ready to provide a refill on whatever you are drinking. As stated before these bartenders are spot on with giving good food advice. They're special, not only looks good but actually taste extremely good, the barbecue chicken is superb. The mac & cheese is beyond expectations, creamy, not overdone. Something to look forward to the next time I'm here. The bar area is beautiful old Florida style great place to come and enjoy.

Closed out the Apalachicola weekend with Brunch at the Franklin Cafe inside the Gibson Inn hotel…read moreand it was a lovely experience. First - the coffee was pretty delicious. Always important to me. I am particular about my morning coffee! I had the chicken and waffles and was absolutely blown away. The chicken was perfectly cooked and breaded and wasn't overly greasy. It's tough to get that just right! The flavors were warmed up and greatly enhanced by the spicy Tupelo honey butter. The heat didn't overwhelm the other flavors by any means. The waffle was really good but not great. I would for sure eat this again. My co-eaters got the bananas foster French toast and the Creole eggs Benedict with cheese grits. I tasted the French toast and it was just way too sweet for my liking. If you love sweet I imagine you'd like this. The person who ate it does like sweets though and still felt it was a bit much but did like it. She traded some of it away for the cheese grits. The person who ordered the cheese grits thought they were just okay but very much enjoyed the creole eggs Benedict. Some of the best they've had! I did not taste test - I can't eat eggs ‍ I will close out by saying the service was top tier. Our server and everyone in the restaurant was super nice and also knowledgeable about the town and area and answered all our tourist questions (or found the answers). I'm not sure I will be traveling thru Apalachicola again any time soon, but if I do I will certainly stop here to grab a bite!
