I've been in the area for almost 4 months and this was my first time having ANY ramen or udon because ramen spots aren't as plentiful here as they are in other areas for some reason. I wasn't feeling too hot and soup was what I needed to get myself back in the game so I did my research and said let me order from Asuka. My order was packaged with such care to ensure I still had the best ramen and udon experience despite having it to go via delivery. Both the ramen and udon were really good with the udon surprisingly being my favorite (because I just knew the ramen would be lol) . The texture of the noodles, the tempura and the simplicity of the broth was spot on. The ramen was also good but I wish there was a bit more depth of flavor and spiciness in the spicy miso broth. I'll definitely order from here again and will probably try some of the other menu items. read more

Easy to get to and seems like a lot of people enjoyed the take out. I think I may order take out next time. The staff were very quick and polite. The interior was a little odd, but very cute. I'm glad it wasn't crowded. The food was good and I loved the Black Jack. The Black Knight was spicy and good. The Naruto Snowcrab roll was good. However, our other three rolls were a little forgettable/interchangeable with each other. The sashimi was neither fresh nor expired- it just existed? Have been ordering take out from here over the past three years, and have received consistently good sushi. The quality of the fish is on point. Special shout out for the salmon avocado roll- the best I've had ever. The lunch deal is a steal, and they get it ready in 10-15 minutes. Assuming they're not allowing anyone to dine in because of the pandemic but it was fine I was just picking up my order and leaving. The staff was friendly. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll and a California roll very good! I also ordered a vegetable stir fry that came with a side salad and miso soup with white rice. A great local sushi restaurant for all sushi lovers. I recommend ordering takeout because there is not that much seating inside. Asuka has plenty of different options to choose from lunch specials, classic rolls, special rolls, sashimi, naruto, and different entries. I recommend their Trio Sashimi. The fish was fresh and delicious. My favorite was their yellowtail. So flavorable and it melts in your mouth. I also recommend their spicy scallop and spicy yellowtail roll. They both were not too spicy but they had a little kick to them. Each roll was flavorable and the fish was fresh. If you have a gluten allergy, Asuka is very accommodating and has many different options to choose from. Sometimes it can be hard to find a great sushi restaurant that offers different options and serves fresh quality food. Asuka offers so many different options and their quality is there. It pains me to write this especially after traveling 20 minutes away and waiting over an hour but I was disappointed with the food. Perhaps my expectations were high since the sushi was fantastic when we were last here a year ago. We ordered the sushi and sashimi for 2 which was fair. I can't say any of the fish was bad and on a positive note, the sashimi was delicious and melted in my mouth but overall it was just mediocre at best and definitely not worth the trip. We also ordered a vegetable udon dish which was awful. The noodles were overcooked and mushy and the dish lacked any type of flavor but maybe some soy sauce. The people running the restaurant were very pleasant and friendly and it truly pains me to write anything negative about a business during these trying times but based on this experience I just can't come back here again especially with so many other options. read more

First time here! Found it on Yelp. The sushi was so fresh and delicious. We had the sushi regular with a tuna roll, the vegetable gyoza, and an eel avocado roll. I ordered online and it was ready in 15 minutes. They have a pick up window so you don't need to go inside. The woman was very friendly and wore a mask. This is probably the best sushi that I've had in the Philadelphia area. I've been in here twice now, and have ordered the 3 roll special both times. You choose 3 from a list of rolls for a very reasonable price. Everything I've had is incredibly fresh and delicious. They have other choices on the menu if you're not really a sushi person. The bento boxes come with a LOT of food! They also have ice cream tempura (ice cream fried in tempura batter) on the menu, with Green tea, red bean, or vanilla ice cream available. My wife and I split the red bean ice cream tempura for dessert, and it was pretty awesome. Service is also quick and friendly. Everyone that works here (that I've interacted with) has been terrific! Very fresh sushi and friendly staff. The seaweed salad and regular salad with ginger dressing is very good and the sushi presentation is very impressive. We got the Sushi and Sashimi for One and everything on the plate was delicious! The presentation of that platter was very impressive and made us feel like we were getting a good bang for our buck. We also ordered the Wonderful Roll and the Hartford Roll such is on their half-price menu. The Hartford roll was my absolute favorite: it's shrimp tempura inside, avocado on top, and then a nice sweet sauce drizzle. The Wonderful roll was a little different because it had cooked fish on the outside so it gave it a completely different flavor. The fish was good, but I don't think I would order it again. It had spicy tuna inside and then was wrapped with seared white tuna, salmon, and avocado on top. I would defiantly go back here if I'm in the area but I'd also like to try the Casino roll: that looks good. It's located in a little strip mall so the outside is nothing fancy, and the inside decor is typical and everything was nice and clean. We sat in a comfy booth so that was nice. They also have seats right where they make the sushi, so that might be fun to sit there too. They did have a bunch of people going in and out for takeout, so don't expect this to be a fancy date night, but you can BYOB if you want to have a little wine with your sushi. read more

Small, quaint, close, family environment. The whole Restuarant got quiet when I opened a bottle of wine. I guess I popped the cork louder than expected; "with the waitress provided wine opener". We had two apps... Miso soup, and a ginger salad. Salad was amazing! (After a drink or two; Girlfriend) "I tasted it. A good but little watery. But, overcome-able, one fork full. Miso soup was hot and delicious (me) "chunks could have been bigger. They were less than half the size of a quarter of your thumb nail. The waitress checked on us only one time between the apps and the main dish. She seemed irritated that we wanted to do the 3 rolls for $13. (And that we didn't understand the 3 for $13 menu. Some items on that menu are not included. But they are on the same page. The sushi seemed like it took a decade to come. (Does that mean fresh?) I found a hair on my sushi... the waitress took it off in front of me and asked me what was wrong. Then I showed her a picture of what happened. And she was shocked. I left after that. On the way to another (lower quality) sushi place, I tried my girlfriend's hair free sushi. And it was amazing!!!! Remember; hair happens at restaurants. But the fact that when I asked for a new plate and she removed the hair I front of me and asked me what was wrong; was the only reason why I left. 2 stars for the removal of hair and not replacement of the food. We have fined at Asuka Sushi many times over since 2016. Not once have we had a negative dining experience; and this includes our customer service as well as food quality. We are always greeted with a warm smile, and our service is often prompt, and courteous. The food quality is very fresh, the fish selection is top notch with the price point, and we have always had a delicious meal with no complaints. I have enjoyed Sushi all around the world - most importantly in Japan, Hawaii, and Los Angeles, where I would like to believe I've dined on some of the best Sushi. Just found my new favorite sushi spot!! Very similar to Wasabi down the street but I think I liked the ambience and food just a little better here! I came in for lunch and tried their seaweed salad and 3-Roll lunch special which comes with a soup and salad which was priced very well, as were most of the special rolls. The seaweed salad was delicious, and before this place was not a huge fan! I got the spicy yellowtail, spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls - all delicious! I was impressed with the texture and size of the rolls. In each roll the fish was blended well with the sauce and the fish-to-rice was nice. I also really liked the interior of the restaurant. It's on the smaller side but decorated well and clean (including the bathroom). Service was great and food came out quickly, granted they were not too busy when I was in there. Found Asuka on yelp as a close sushi restaurant with good ratings/reviews seeing as i have been craving sushi since relocating from California two months ago. Upon arrival the restaurant looks quaint and wasn't busy at all (two other parties). The waitress sat us down with no menus. She then comes back and realizes her mistake and throws two menus at us, no drink order. This isn't my first time not doing all you can eat but the menu was really out of date and although it had pictures it had no description of what is what. The waitress then asks if we're ready to order, no drinks on the table. We say not yet & before we could even say water, she's gone. I was going to ask about the menu, some favorites, Idk usually the waitress will ask if you've ever been here before and give a quick rundown. All of this didn't really matter but the service was ass at this point. But if the foods good then hey, you've got a returning customer. I order the 447 Larchmont and although it does have shrimp tempura inside the entire roll is warm. Even the raw fish on top. I got one refill and the waitress never checked on us although it was completely empty. Idk why this place is rated with four stars, its not accommodating and the food isn't good. Maybe the hibachi makes up for it ‍ After about 20 min of sitting and trying to wave down the waitress she then asks if i want a refill. I truly had to restrain myself at this point because not only have you given terrible service, not only was your food god awful but yet you have the audacity to ask if i want a refill after watching you do absolutely nothing for 20 min?? This is the second time I've been to this restaurant and I figured it was time to write a review. Let me start off by saying the food has been great on the two occasions I've ordered. The sushi is fresh and my companion also found the dishes we ordered to be delicious. However, the two times we ordered take out, we've had items we ordered missing. I have to blame myself because I usually check my order to make sure everything is there, but my friend and I didn't check until we arrived home and by that time it was too late to go back considering the restaurant was 20/30 mins away. Overall, i might order from this establishment again, but I will definitely be checking my items before I leave. On to the food. I had the spicy tuna roll which I loved, but I wished they had an option to add a crunch to it. I also had the spicy crab or Kani salad which I liked and ended with a dumpling soup which I didn't care for at all. It was tasteless. My friend ordered the seaweed salad, salmon roe, tuna tartar, and Philadelphia roll. He loved everything he ordered and we both shared an order of the steak hibachi which I thought had a slightly sweet taste to it, which I didn't care for. A humble sushi establishment that hits the spot for sushi but could be better. I spent 20 minutes staring at the menu. There were that many choices, and most of them sounded good. I ended up with a sunshine roll and the asuka roll. The sunshine rool was the real winner here. They added BANANA TEMPURA, which take a usual roll taste, and blended magically the sweet taste of bananas. I was ecstatic in this marriage of flavors and would eat again. Of course, if you dont like bananas, dont order it. The asuka roll was good but fell short of what it could have been. The deep fried crab and avocado is what stood out the most. It was solid in taste, but the banana tempura stood out the most. Pretty upset overall here. My fiancè and I decided to treat ourselves tonight (at least we thought) and ordered the Spider Roll & Filet Mígon Habachi entree. The total came out to about $45 and we were very, very disappointed with the portions we received. The habachi meal was about 25 bucks and I think we got 3 pieces of steak about the size of a quarter. To think places like this need to protect their margins by absolutely ripping off customers is just sad and upsetting. I will absolutely not be doing buisness back here, i'd rather take my $50 and pour it into a business that respects its customers. This is one of the only places I've reviewed so many times, and it's worth noting why folks! Consistently, I order $100 sushi orders 2 times a month at least (sometimes 3). ALL of their food has been OUTSTANDING since my very first order years ago. Sushi, noodles, soup, they are THE BEST. Years now I've praised them here and in person. My sister and I split the 3 roll lunch special, and we were both actually FULL for once, compared to other sushi places we've been to before. Great value for money here as the rolls were packed with fish and have very little rice. The spicy rolls we got were spicy yellowtail (which we added scallions to), and spicy tuna (which already come with scallions in them). They both had crunchy bits in them which gave them great texture. The lunch specials also come with soup and salad. The salad dressing is perfectly sweet, unlike some bitter ginger dressings I've had before. The miso soup is hot and savory and packed with seaweed. Yum. The owner is very friendly too, which makes for a great dining experience. I highly recommend this place. It's tucked away at the end of a small shopping precinct off Larchmont Blvd and Marne Highway. This place had a lot going for it. The good is delicious and made right in front of you. Presentation is nice. We ordered the Surprise, Volcano, Creamy, and the Union Transfer. All were really good. I loved The one with mango and cucumber the most. We also had a Octopus appetizer, served cold in rice vinegar. Wasn't that impressed because it was so chewy. Tasted great just the texture was too much for me. pros: BYOB, great sushi, a lot of different menu options that you don't always see in this area, clean. Cons: the space is very stark/cold. Literally cold - do not sit by the door as there are flashing neon lights and a bad draft. The music is very low so everyone can hear you talking and well, when we there it was kenny G. There is literally an echo because of the lack of warmth in this place. The food makes up for it though. Our waitress was very sweet and everything was delivered nice but it took a while! I do like that sometimes though so it's not necessarily A con. When we left (9:30 pm on a Saturday night) we left an empty room. I mean we could have walked out with the cash register. Nobody there. It was a little weird like we were the last of the night?! I think it's just the location is bad. The food is good! Really good!
