Loved the food! I ordered online so everything was pretty quick and easy. Assuming they're not allowing anyone to dine in because of the pandemic but it was fine I was just picking up my order and leaving. The staff was friendly. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll and a California roll very good! I also ordered a vegetable stir fry that came with a side salad and miso soup with white rice. The portion sizes were huge with the vegetable stir fry the flavors were great as well. I would go Back and also recommend.

It pains me to write this especially after traveling 20 minutes away and waiting over an hour but I was disappointed with the food. Perhaps my expectations were high since the sushi was fantastic when we were last here a year ago. We ordered the sushi and sashimi for 2 which was fair. I can't say any of the fish was bad and on a positive note, the sashimi was delicious and melted in my mouth but overall it was just mediocre at best and definitely not worth the trip. We also ordered a vegetable udon dish which was awful. The noodles were overcooked and mushy and the dish lacked any type of flavor but maybe some soy sauce. The people running the restaurant were very pleasant and friendly and it truly pains me to write anything negative about a business during these trying times but based on this experience I just can't come back here again especially with so many other options.

!!Attention all sushi lovers!! If you love sushi you HAVE to try out this little gem! I am very picky when it comes to trying out new sushi spots but Asuka has got to be one of the BEST sushi restaurants I've ever tried!!!! Sushi is always fresh and yummy! Dine in is unavailable but take out is just as good as if you were to sit down and eat. Staff is very friendly and food comes out pretty quick. Definitely take my word, try this spot out! Food was so good, we couldn't wait to eat before we took a photo.

This is probably the best sushi that I've had in the Philadelphia area. I've been in here twice now, and have ordered the 3 roll special both times. You choose 3 from a list of rolls for a very reasonable price. Everything I've had is incredibly fresh and delicious. They have other choices on the menu if you're not really a sushi person. The bento boxes come with a LOT of food! They also have ice cream tempura (ice cream fried in tempura batter) on the menu, with Green tea, red bean, or vanilla ice cream available. My wife and I split the red bean ice cream tempura for dessert, and it was pretty awesome. Service is also quick and friendly. Everyone that works here (that I've interacted with) has been terrific! I'll be back many, many times!

Great for pick up with the take out window they installed. Sushi rolls were nicely packed and food was excellent and fresh

2 Wonderful Rolls...they were exactly like the name says!

Even during quarantine with take-out this place is still the best around. We tried another local place last week and tonight the food at Asuka was twice as good. I don't think we will make that mistake again. Everything was fresh and ready quickly. Fish quality was excellent. They have THE BEST fried rice around too, no Chinese restaurant in the area compares. We LOVE Asuka and will not make the mistake of venturing off in the area again.

Very good quality fish and great service. This is a simple causal sushi place. My daughter is very picky about her tuna and the fish they served us passes her test. The staff are nice and friendly. They made a mistake but upon request they quickly fixed it without issue. As someone who's half Japanese and a fisherman I have high standards and they delivered quality food twice.

Very fresh sushi and friendly staff. The seaweed salad and regular salad with ginger dressing is very good and the sushi presentation is very impressive. We got the Sushi and Sashimi for One and everything on the plate was delicious! The presentation of that platter was very impressive and made us feel like we were getting a good bang for our buck. We also ordered the Wonderful Roll and the Hartford Roll such is on their half-price menu. The Hartford roll was my absolute favorite: it's shrimp tempura inside, avocado on top, and then a nice sweet sauce drizzle. The Wonderful roll was a little different because it had cooked fish on the outside so it gave it a completely different flavor. The fish was good, but I don't think I would order it again. It had spicy tuna inside and then was wrapped with seared white tuna, salmon, and avocado on top. I would defiantly go back here if I'm in the area but I'd also like to try the Casino roll: that looks good. It's located in a little strip mall so the outside is nothing fancy, and the inside decor is typical and everything was nice and clean. We sat in a comfy booth so that was nice. They also have seats right where they make the sushi, so that might be fun to sit there too. They did have a bunch of people going in and out for takeout, so don't expect this to be a fancy date night, but you can BYOB if you want to have a little wine with your sushi.

Very good, fresh sushi with many options and combinations. Kani salad was great, the shooting stars were interesting and a nice change than typical shrimp dumplings. Great covid-19 setup.

    Reason I left.

Ask the Community - Asuka Sushi Restaurant

Do they have sushi made with brown rice?

Probably, never thought to ask, but they are pretty accommodating. I would call and ask but I would assume they have it.

    Are they allowing indoor seating?

I was there two weeks ago. No indoor seating but they loved the order pick up to inside.

Welp... second time here in the last 2 months and its time for a review. This is the best quality…read moresushi and sashimi I have had in YEARS! The service was super friendly and courteous... I am not sure if they have Japanese roots but everyone took the time to make our experience and food phenominal, which is a part of the Japanese culture. The actual fish quality and care in preparation with the little additions of yuzu and other spices on the individual pieces were amazing! It was like every piece was served as omakaze. Also, the chef served the highest quality and cuts of fish. This was a second visit for us. I usually do a review after two visits to judge a location and this place exceeded our first visit... I thought the first visit was a fluke because of how good it was. Now I believe they are actually this good.. The locals that live around here have a plethora of places to go to for sushi (we know because we have been to em all), but this place is the Gold Standard in our opinion. We live about 40 minutes away and made the trip here because of what I remember from our last visit. The ambience is cool with tons of pictures of private parties and fun times people have here. I deff want to have them cater a sushi party for us soon! We went here the first to try some place new by searching Yelp.... However, I saw them pop up on either my Instagram or Youtube feed a couple weeks ago. I know sometimes InstaTube places are a disappointment, but do not be affraid to try here and form your own opinion.

If you're looking for really good sushi and Japanese food, I recommend this place. I saw Japanese…read morecustomers dining there. It's a good sign that that they serve legit food. Enoki and egg soup is my favorite appetizer. Light broth with umami and perfect saltiness. My second favorite appetizer is agedashi tofu. So silky like pudding with light teriyaki broth. Beef roll up with scallions: beef is tender with some kind of sweet teriyaki sauce. It's pretty good. Eggplant filled with ground chicken. It looks appealing but unfortunately a bit too greasy. The sushi here is very special. The sushi rice is silky and moist. The fish piece is bigger than the rice. The eel is a must try here. It's very big compared to the rice underneath it. It very flavorful too. Mt entree is steamed salmon with seafood broth. I recommend squirting the lemon to the broth to make it taste like yuzu sauce as it lightens the whole dish and makes it less fishy.

PRO: I will say, if you want a place where you can sit and have a conversation, dark mood lighting (especially forgiving if the last time you saw each other alot was 20 years ago! - LOL), Sagami is an excellent choice. PRO: They don't rush you out - take your time. It was a Thursday night, so not especially busy when we came at 6:30 PM. CON: I could not find an updated menu online - I'm one of those people who like to peruse a menu in advance. I started with a vegetable tempura appetizer ($10) - excellent, light, airy, tasty. My main was the dragon roll - very tasty. Service was quite nice. Appetizers came out almost immediately, the rolls took a lot longer to get to our table. This is the kind of place where you're not paying to fill up your belly - but if you do, expect to shell out some bucks.

This restaurant was great. Loved the different options, it was hard to choose only a few things!…read moreThe Indian pancake (paratha) and coconut sauce was a nice, unique appetizer. Same with the salmon sandwich. Everything tasted great. The restaurant was clean and service was great. Seems like a popular place for lunch during the weekdays!

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was very disappointing…read more We started with the seafood soup. To our surprise, there seemed to be more boiled onion in the bowl than seafood or even broth. Onion, especially boiled onion, has a very specific and strong taste, and I think when it is used in such a large quantity, it would be considerate to mention it clearly or at least ask the customer if they are okay with it -- especially since some people may have allergies or simply dislike boiled onions. The menu itself does not make things any easier. The descriptions and ingredients are printed in very small text, and the restaurant is quite dark, making it difficult to read exactly what each dish contains. This is especially frustrating with sushi rolls, where customers should be able to clearly see what ingredients are inside each roll before ordering. Under those conditions, it is very easy to overlook an ingredient, particularly one that ends up dominating the flavor of the entire dish. Next, we ordered the shrimp fried rice. Once again, onion was the dominant flavor, except this time it was finely chopped fresh onion. Later, we ordered four different sushi rolls, and somehow even the sushi had a noticeable onion taste. Out of the four rolls, perhaps one tasted reasonably good. The rest were either bland or overwhelmed by the taste of onion. What made the experience even more disappointing was the service. The server was unable to recommend popular dishes or offer any helpful suggestions. When we tried asking the sushi chefs questions, they did not seem to understand us at all. Even the manager's attitude made us feel as though our concerns were an inconvenience rather than legitimate feedback from paying customers. When we mentioned the overwhelming amount of onion, the response was essentially that this is simply their style of preparation and that "next time" we could ask for no onion. The problem is that no one told us beforehand that so many dishes -- including seafood soup, fried rice, and even sushi -- would contain such a significant amount of onion. We were never given the opportunity to say that we didn't want it. I actually like onions, but I certainly did not expect nearly everything I ordered at a Japanese restaurant to taste predominantly of onion. Unfortunately, between the food, the difficult-to-read menu, the lack of helpful guidance from the staff, and the indifferent attitude toward our concerns, this was not the experience we expected or hoped for. And on a slightly humorous note, perhaps the restaurant deserves a second name: "Onion Paradise." At least then customers would know exactly what they are walking into. If boiled onions -- or onions in general, especially in very generous quantities -- are not your thing, you might want to think twice before walking through the door.
