    Cubano, no mustard or pickles
    Trent O.

Ordered takeout for two cubano sandwiches. One with no pickles or mustard. When we arrived, they had the order ready and sandwiches were piping hot. There is a reach in fridge with sodas. A few plastic molded tables area available for dining in. The staff was friendly and we were in and out in a jiffy. Their menu isn't huge, but it seems what they do, they do well. Brought the cubanos home, and they were spot on! Delicious crispy bread, tender inside. The pork is moist and flavorful. Perhaps could have used a bit more cheese but we were impressed! Would recommend giving this place a try!

From the menu item 'The Real Cubano',' it is a serious crowd pleaser. Ham, pork, pickles, mustard and cheese made this sandwich a one of kind on taste to the local area. It is a quick return to come back for more. A bit tangy, sweet and a little crunch. The pork is savory and is the dealbreaker to this sandwich. I'm not alone because folks are coming and going as the day goes. The inside is colorful, trendy and vibrant. You can tell that not only was heritage brought into the casual dining area but also attention to detail. Staff is so insanely friendly. You can count on me to be back, especially since Merchant st has other a pretty cool downtown area.

    Barbacoa panini with plantains. Amazing

Got the Barbacoa Cuban and gallo pinto. Absolutely amazing! The owner, who also owns dar steaks, was here and is super nice and excited to be opening another great establishment in the area. Honestly the food was amazing and I cannot recommend this place enough!

Sunpress never disappoints! The price is perfect for the quantity you get! They are always on time with the food and have things ready within 15 minutes. Great service, cute vibes! Would strongly recommend the burrito, guacamole, and yuca.

They have a sandwich called The Real Cuban that I absolutely love. My husband likes the San Jose. They have specials on Tuesday Wednesday Thursday. Fast service. Friendly staff.

    Real Cubano & Tamarind Juice

A refresh of the space, SunPress did not disappoint on their opening day. I ordered Tamarind Juice and Real Cubano. Picked up in just under 20 min from placing my order online at their site. Greeted by friendly staff and owner the place was buzzing, including patrons eating outside at tables. Upon opening the container for the sandwich, I was surprised and please with the size for the price. First bite, , crunch of the roll and blast of flavor each one hits with every chew Next a sip of the Tamarind Juice (which I've never had), very tasty and refreshing. Cannot wait to try the other items on the menu! Well done and I wish them many years of success.

We placed our order at 7 PM. The order was ready at 7:12 and picked up by DoorDash at 7:15 estimated delivery time 7:30 (we live 8 or 9 minutes away). We kept getting alerts that our delivery was delayed. It was finally delivered around 8 PM. The end result was cold limp soggy fries that came with the Cuban. A cold sandwich with a soggy roll. Cold nachos with yes you guessed it, soggy tortilla chips. Everything you would expect when your food is sitting in a car for 45 minutes instead of being delivered. After reheating everything in the oven and air fryer the flavors were all there. This restaurant did a fantastic job and put out very good food. I don't have the heart to give it a low score because that reflects on the restaurant and they did a great job. DoorDash dropped the ball. We will order from here again, but from now on, we will pick it up in person.

Nope the trouble it all comes down from the top. The food has gotten bland and the portions have gotten ridiculously small. How small? Here are some examples - I used to order the chile rellenos: * Old owners - 2 stuffed chile peppers served with rice. * New owners - 1 stuffed chile pepper served with rice for about 3 dollars more. I used to order tamales: * Old owners - 3 tamales * New owners - 2 tamales for two dollars more. As a bonus kick in the pants - I was charged $5 for a side of extra queso fresco. I had to order this because of the minimal amount they now put on it. I was literally in shock. I could see 2 bucks, even 3, hell 4 is pushing it, but 5 dollars? Nope. The final straw came for me when I order 3 beef tacos and they came on tortillas that were insanely small. I'm talking 2 bites and gone. I asked the server, did they change tortilla styles, and she honestly didn't know. Also they're now 3 bucks more than they used for to be. The worst thing a place can do is charge more money for less food that by comparison is substandard to how it used to be. On top of that their kitchen's sheer inability to get even the simplest requests right, coupled with finding actual steel wool fragments in my taco meat the last time I ordered... sigh. I'm at a loss. Thankfully the previous owners opened up a New Mexican restaurant only 5 more minutes in driving distance from me and it was like going home again. Sorry Jalapeños, but we are never coming back again.

I vascilated between 3 and 4 stars, so I'll instead provide a breakdown: Menu: 5 stars. The menus are easy to read, detailed, and organized. The menus aren't your standard laminated menus. They have a thick, very pretty, sturdy cover. They provide the prices for different meat options. I appreciate that many menu items can be or are gluten free. Ambience: 5 stars. I am a total sucker for supporting small, privately owned businesses! Bonus points for being immigrant/POC/Black-owned business! The restaurant was small but still with a good amount of wiggle room for dining in. Everything was clean and somewhat modern for what was described to me as "a hole in the wall" (in a good way), as I was expecting it to be a little dated and dingy. It wasn't. It was bright, cool, and airy. Service: 3-stars. service was mid. Our server didn't seem overly-excited to be there. He communicated well, but with very little friendliness or enthusiasm. I'd say, at best, his demeanor was neutral, and I can live with that, considering I've encountered a lot of times where people in the service industry act like they don't appreciate your business and are doing you a favor just by taking your order, smh. Food: 3.5 stars. Presentation was beautiful! Very well-done! Unfortunately, I found my tres moles enchiladas lacking that "pow" in taste that I love about mole. I also love my enchiladas drowned in mole sauce, especially eating with chicken breast, which can be a very mild/bland and dry meat. The chicken itself wasn't necessarily dry, but because it was chicken breast, and the feel of the dish was on the dry side. That being said, my fellow diners LOVED their dishes and said they'd come back again! Unfortunately, they don't provide reviews on Yelp, so I invite you to take my review as a grain of salt and try this restaurant out for yourself.
