07/2016 Came back here for the summer and of course stopped in. Hadn't tried the lunch menu back in December and so tried it this time around. Loved it, the best homemade coleslaw of I tasted and the employees are so nice. The food took a little while but it was busy and when the food came it was so fresh and absolutely delicious. I got the chicken salad wrap, tater tots and added coleslaw and my daughter got the three piece fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and corn. I have added pics to both. Will definitely continue to come here. Nice laid back vibe and they have an art shop next door. 12/2015 Great service and the best chocolate chip pancakes. We added whip cream too :). Being a local here in the keys you'll come upon many unique places to dine. Well one summer day I was driving around with my gal trying to find somewhere to grub on for breakfast. We didn't want to eat at our usual places so we decided to try somewhere new to us. After looking intently at the handy Google Maps I stumbled upon this mystical place of wonder. The wait wasn't too bad and parking was good too. Service was great also and it didn't take too long to receive our mouth watery breakfast. I highly recommend the breakfast tater tots topped beautifully with bacon and cheese. It was absolutely delicious, basically after my first bite I felt like those kids who discovered Narnia for the first time in that fantasy movie. Be prepared to punish your toilet severely and have a plumber on stand by after finishing this delicious breakfast. I highly recommend this wonderful breakfast place to everyone and anyone traversing through the upper Keys. read more

Restaurant is exceptionally clean, efficient and has lots of local flair. We did the French toast sampler and lobster omelette. For the French toast, we did cinnamon roll, coffee cake, zucchini bread and blueberry. All delicious, but the cinnamon roll one melted in my mouth and was carmelized around the corners. Great friendly, efficient service here. My partner called in a to go order at about 9am this past Saturday. They answered quickly and took the order with no hesitation. They quoted about 20 minutes until the order would be ready. Once I arrived I received an immediate, very welcoming greeting. Yum!! We were driving down to Key West and saw this on the side of the road so we stopped in. We were very surprised to see how many people were already there and once we ordered we realized how great of a decision we made. It was very mom and Pop, and Mike was actually there! He seem to know half the restaurant by name... Very touching. We also were really touched when we saw how many people had sent Christmas cards that were hanging on the wall. Our family had breakfast at Mangrove Mikes. The place was busy, which was a good sign, but they have more seating than you'd think and we were seated right away. The decor is quirky/funky/odd in a fun way. There is something to look at everywhere while you wait for your food. We had pancakes, omelette, sunny side up eggs, sausage... the usual fare and all very good. But... my 11 year old ordered the tater tot tower kitchen sink! This thing was RIDICULOUS!! There was soooo much food! It was hilarious when it was brought out... he could only eat a small portion of it but said it was delicious. We all really enjoyed the food and eating there in general. Super popular and busy little bfast spot in Islamorada. We were lucky enough to get our name on a short wait list while we browsed the cute local Art shop right next door. Definitely the spot to have a hearty bfast in the laid back keys ambiance. The service was wonderful. It always so nice to feel welcomed with smiley waitresses. The food came out fast (super important when you have hungry people in the morning!) Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions were extremely generous, while the coffee refills were constantly flowing. We had the lobster Benedict (Delish!) and the classic 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns with toast and coffee. If you have a sweet tooth, the Coffee Cake French toast was a must try!! Very disappointed. It's a little dinner and the cashier is very nice. However waitress who seems to have been there a long time is just rude . Didn't make eye contact snatched menu from one of our kid's hands said that not a kids menu it's a specials menu . Seemed bothered if we asked for a clean fork after unwrapping dirty silverware from the napkins provided or for refills . Food was definitely frozen. Kids ordered burgers, patties had a frozen reheated taste my potatoes were the same . The kitchen sink was ok husband rates it at a 3 . As we are eating one of the staff members rolling silverware seemed to have a cold kept coughing into hands and rolling silverware. Overall a bad experience. Had the veggie omelette with cheese. The omelette although packed with fresh veggies, had no cheese at all and the veggies were barely cooked. I send it back to have her melt cheese on top and they remade it after waiting about a half hour for our food to begin with. Got the omelette back and there was hardly any cheese per sq ft of this massive omelette. However, the Pancake was good and my boyfriend had the Mexican burrito which he said was delicious. The coffee was flowing and the waitress did do a nice job.
