This is one of the few inexpensive eateries in Summit, which is really only why we come back here. The bagels are burned more often than not; when you ask for cream cheese, you get half a pound slathered on your bagel; yet when you ask for butter, it's only on one half of the bagel, the other half is dry. 2 stars because the employees are friendly, but otherwise, don't go here when you're starving. read more

Slow... That'd be my description of this place in one word. We ordered and waited what seemed like an incredibly long time for a bagel and a bagel sandwich. My wife and I split an everything bagel, while another person we were with had a pork roll, egg and cheese. It just took forever. The food itself was not bad. Pretty ordinary - nothing phenomenal but not bad. The everything bagel did not have a lot of "everything" on it but the veggie cream cheese was pretty good. I wouldn't be totally opposed to coming back, but I'd definitely make sure I had a good amount of time before the train I was trying to catch. read more

They are incapable of grabbing the right bagel! They are extremely flustered during the morning rush, and the older guy with the glasses constantly messes things up. He is *notorious* for grabbing the wrong bagel from the basket. I have asked them to be careful, I have even asked them "are you sure this is the ____ type bagel?" And they get it wrong! I'm going to have to give my business to the Dunkin Donuts next store because I hate getting home to find they gave me the wrong thing over and over again. So sad. read more

This is another great location (been going to the Union location for years - top of the charts). Located on Union Place on a nice row of spots, this M.B. doesn't disappoint either. I'm giving it 4/5 only because it's not AS GOOD as the Union location, but it's still pretty damn tasty. They bring your order to you, regardless of where you're sitting, and even offer to clean up after you're done. Very nice. read more

In my business I travel a lot. Coffee is an important part of my morning. I don't use milk or sugar; I just like the taste of coffee. Whenever I'm in Summit, Manhattan Bagel Co is a must. Seating is adequate and the business is clean. Since the coffee is outstanding, I'll try some breakfast items next time. read more

Manhattan Bagel is one of my favorite places! It's my Saturday morning routine to get an egg and cheese bagel sandwich, and they know me by my name and order. They are so friendly and you can't beat the food! Breakfast or lunch, it's always a great choice. read more

If your in a rush don't go here, especially of your trying to catch a train - the service is terrible, register people don't pay attention to any order will stand around talking while groups of people pile up the just take an order willy nilly - food takes a long time and my order has been given wrong a few times. It's unfortunate because the food is better than dunkin but its such a frustrating experience I just wind up going to dunkin. If you have time and patience and don't mind waiting to correct an order or just happy to get what they service then this is the place for you. read more

This place has the worst service I've ever seen. Went in for a breakfast sandwich because I had a full 10 minutes before my train and was greeted by a surly person at the counter and then I waited until I had 2 minutes before my train and was told someone 'took' my order. Otherwise known as given to someone by mistake and they acted like I was being a nuisance! So they quickly gave me a refund when I told them I don't want to wait for another train because of a stupid bagel. Every time I come here I walk away wondering why I didn't visit the Dunkin' Donuts next door. Overpriced and not worth it. read more

The Manhattan Bagel location at 702 Route 70 in Brick New Jersey could be the worst place to buy Bagels I ever went to. The Bagels are always burnt on one side which means they don't clean the trays the Bagels are baked on, and almost as bad is the that the Bagels are always misshaped. The poor shape of the Bagels is another sign of how low the concern of management is to producing a quality product. When you attempt to tell management about the problem the reply you get is indicative of their lack of concern in pleasing the customers. I know I will never go there again. read more

Did not eat there, but someone got it so I eat at home. About half of the orders they messed up. My order was very simple, and they got it right. The bagel, however, was very burnt and was buttered normally. It was pretty clear that they did not spend any time on my order and just schlepped something together. The service here is sub-par and the food is average. read more

I hate to say it but - every time I have ordered food here, the order has been screwed up. It can be very frustrating because the wait in the (usually) long line is always so fast paced and rushed that when I finally get my order, I am in a rushed mood and usually hurry out the door only to get back home and find the wrong bagel, or an un toasted bagel with the wrong cream cheese. read more

The workers do not know the difference between tuna and chicken salad. They've screwed it up so many times that I have quit coming here.

I was at this location yesterday at 7 am and was the only person in the place...yippee. this is the first time visiting this bagel shop. I placed an order for a toasted french toast bagel with butter and cream cheese. I waited 15 min for it... When I unwrapped the bagel, I found that it had not been toasted, the bagel had only been sliced part way through and had a 1/2 tsp of Cream Cheese in the center of the bagel. I expected my bagel to be toasted, which means sliced in half with butter and enough cream cheese to see it without using a microscope. I paid $3.00 for this bagel and WILL NOT COME AGAIN. I will go back to my trusty favorite Dunkin Donuts. On a side note.... They have raised their prices and do not deliver anymore and are still using the old take out menus with lower prices and delivery options. Their prices have gone up 50% from the take out menu. Update your menu and give people what they order. There was no excuse for what I received. read more

I seriously love this place. I have worked in Summit for the past 2 years and have been trying to find a good coffee/bagel place forever.. Bagels 4-U in Millburn is good but has quite possibly the rudest individuals on the planet working there, and Dunkin Donuts next door has nice employees, but they are S-L-O-W and the food is obviously not anything to brag about. Manhattan Bagel is the best of both worlds! The people COULD NOT BE NICER, the service is quick, and the bagels, etc are amazing. I love the make your own coffee bar that the other poster mentioned. As an extra bonus, I actually left my wallet here by accident about a month ago and they returned it to me untouched. Whoever is running this place is doing a fantastic job. read more

excellent place for breakfast and/or lunch. Great prices with lots of coupons, friendly service, cheery and helpful staff, clean, fast and just an overall great place to hang out with a cup of their delicious coffeee and watch the World Cup on their large screen tv. Their breakfast sandwiches are terrific and their turley chipotle wrap is superb. This place answers the need for a great bagel shop centrally located in Summit given that Bagel Chateau has been closed for so long. If you liked Bagel Chateau, you'll love Manhattan Bagel which is much better overall. read more

we caught an early train from new york city and decided we needed some breakfast before heading back to our hotel. we popped into manhattan bagel and all decided to try something different - two croissant sandwiches, one asparagus and egg white sandwich, and a bagel with lox. the food was all delicious! however, the reason i'm writing this review is what happened after. as i was purchasing a bottle of water, i had a conversation with one of the gentlemen who worked there. i mentioned that we were in town celebrating the fact that my grandparents had been married here 61 years ago and we were out here for their anniversary. no more than 5 minutes later he comes to the table where i'm sitting with my grandparents and hands us two baskets full of muffins and pastries, congratulating my grandparents in the process. it was such a genuine and sweet surprise and it truly made my grandparents' morning. thank you guys! we'll be back on our next visit for sure! read more
