Bagels are stale. Staff unfriendly and generally irritated that you are there. Asked for bagels to be sliced and the guy snarled at me. Had to ask for a freezer bag, another miserable face. Needed plastic knives because our plan was a bagel picnic and again, irritated. And now I'm annoyed that here we are with bagels that nobody can even chew. This Manhattan Bagel is in a small strip mall along US-202 northbound and may be easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Parking does not seem adequate but there is a small lot at the north end of the strip mall. The menu looks similar to Einstein Brothers, which is not a surprise because the two chains have the same parent company. Prices are similar to Einstein Bros too, i.e. a bit on the upscale side. However, they do sometimes have email coupons. The biggest downside to this location is it's small and cramped. Everyone keeps getting in each other's way and it's hard to get a table during the breakfast rush. This doesn't seem as much of a problem at Einstein Bros. read more

Came here on a Saturday morning and decided to eat my bagel inside. There was a steady flow of people coming and going who seemed to be regulars. I ordered an everything bagel toasted with butter and a coffee. The bagel came pretty quickly despite it being busy. They loaded butter on it which I LOVED. If you don't want a ton of butter then you should specify but I was happy with it. The coffees are self serve and they had 7 different blends all of which were being maintained by an employee. Coffee was hot and tasty. They offered a good amount of spreads for the bagels and a lot of fresh options of bagel types. The inside of the restaurant was clean. Lastly, prices were reasonable which is very important to me. This is a great option for bagels if you're in the area!! read more

My teen aged daughter likes to go to another "chain" bagel shop a few miles away. Not sure why because they use a microwave to reheat the eggs for sandwiches. I ordered jalapeño everything bagel with veggie CC and added lettuce, tomato, and cucumber. They were happy to accommodate but not without extra charge. I get it, extra stuff means extra $$. No prob. But heres where's it's whack, jack .... There was a weak Amount of CC on it. I don't need a lot necessarily but you shouldn't be dissembling a bagel to find it. Further, I had exactly one piece of lettuce, one slice of tomato, and 2 slices of cucumber (one on each half after it was cut) on this thing. That is just cheap. I paid for the veggies so cmon. Very similar to Einstein Bros Bagels, and as fellow reviewer Morton F mentioned they have an interesting history together (thanks for leading me down the Wikipedia rabbit hole Morton). Met my basic expectations for a bagel chain, but not much more. Personally I would've preferred Einstein Bros. My group split a variety of bagels. We had a jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese, an egg and cheese on an jalapeño everything bagel and a spinach bagel with lox. The bagels themselves were unimpressive, the jalapeño bagel was tough and the spinach bagel did not come close to the same from from EB. The lox cream cheese also had a fluffy, whipped quality that was somewhat off-putting. The egg and cheese was nice enough, but lacked the extra flavor to stand out and was ultimately forgettable. The highlight was the iced tea, which was particularly good. The other major positive was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. Overall, nothing was horrible or bad but nothing was really that good either. I'd go back in a pinch but I'll be looking elsewhere for my regular bagel fix. read more

I've always stuck with a dozen bagles and sometimes their cream cheese. Always have been happy with the product. Today I got a egg, bacon & cheese. Very good. Manhattan Bagel has a great selection of tasty bagels (from Jalapeno Cheddar to Honey Whole Wheat) and matching spreads. Their coffee choices should also be noted (always fresh). I'm giving 3 stars solely because the bagels here are decent, if not for that I'd probably give 1 star. Every time I go to this place I get charged a different price. Today I got two babels with extra cream cheese and was charged nearly $9... for two bagels.... last week when I got the same order it was around $5.50. I said something about it and the worker commented that prices went up and they're charging for extra cream cheese, which I understand but I wouldn't have to order extra cream cheese in the first place if they put a reasonable amount of cream cheese on their bagels to start. The first time going here I ordered a normal amount of cream cheese and it barely covered one side of the bagel, so now I order extra and now I pay extra for something that should be provided on a normal basis. This place is always busy, they clearly have a good customer base and are making money, no need to be super cheap with your cream cheese. The workers are always rather rude, never smiling or overly friendly and I notice certain workers will consistently charge me more every time I come. Overall the experience isn't a good one and it's ridiculous to pay $9 for two bagels. Like come on people. read more

Was in the mood for a good bagel and a friend of mine suggested Manhattan Bagel. I was in high hopes when I saw how busy they were for a rainy Saturday morning. The girls working the counter just seemed to be there to do their job, not rude by any means but not friendly either. They have a nice menu with a variety of breakfast and lunch options. I got a jalapeno cheddar toasted with low fat cream cheese and a jalapeno everything to bring home. The cream cheese was gritty, not very appetizing. The flavor of the bagel itself was alright but for a place called Manhattan Bagel it did not seem like a New York bagel at all. It was the same texture of something you would get at other chains like Dunkin or Panera. Probably won't go out of my way to visit again but if I'm in the area I may give them another shot since they do have a variety of bagel flavors. read more

The bagels are mediocre and the coffee is terrible. I'm from NYC so I know what good bagels taste like. Also, your hair and clothes smell like the store for the entire day. I'm giving them a negative review because of poor customer service (although the younger cashiers are usually nicer than the older cashiers). I went in recently and the older woman cashier denied my "happy e-club anniversary" free bagel and cream cheese. She said the promo wasn't valid at their store. The email specifically stated Manhattan Bagel, and this location is the only Manhattan Bagel I've been to. She made me wait to the side and dealt with other customers. Eventually, the older male cashier came and let me get my free bagel and cream cheese, but after the two cashiers complained about me in their language and rolled their eyes. The best bagels around! Coming from North Jersey I am picky about my bagels and this place reminds me of home! Their jalapeño cheddar bagel is my favorite. I've gone in there many times and they're always busy which is a great sign. I would give them 5 stars if they had a little bit more room to dine in that's the only down side to this place is there isn't much seating. The other day I went in with my toddler who was getting pretty antsy waiting for our food. The owner saw us and quickly came over and gave her a free brownie! As a mom I always appreciate when someone can see past a screaming child and instead of getting annoyed at us he was kind. It was a really nice gesture and I will continue to go here! read more

So excited 2 years in a row I've been up here and they've been open on Christmas Day. Bagels are so fresh and they have gluten free bagels! We have been eating here for years. Along with Einstein bagel it is the only decent bagel place in North Wilmington or maybe even DE. It's not that same as a NYC bagel but close enough.
