When you walk in you see a delectable salad bar and a eye-catching line up of donuts. They had me at this point! The staff was extremely friendly and the ambiance was very casual. I had the breakfast burrito, and it was good. My family also tried the veggie omelette, which was also fantastic. But the highlight was of course the donuts, we tried 3 of them (classic, cinnamon sugar and cereal) and each was dense and not too sweet. Loved em! My husband + I are in town for our anniversary and we love walking around finding new places. We are soooo glad we stopped in! I ordered the Bacon, Egg + Cheese sandwich on a croissant and he ordered the Breakfast Burrito. We almost swallowed our meals while they were so good! The croissant was super buttery and flaky but not messy. The Bacon was pretty thick and crispy, no sad floppy bacon. It was absolutely delicious. My husband didn't speak while he ate other than a grunt of approval. Once he finished he said it was delicious and that it was nice to eat a burrito that didn't fall apart and actually stayed in place. We are both impressed and will definitely come back again. Super welcoming staff + a cool atmosphere. My only regret is that they don't serve coffee, well they do but it's just regular coffee with sugar and I'm a coffee snob. I am outraged. This place should get sued for false advertising. The place is called Manhattan Cafe, but it does not come with over-priced food, rude service, or that funky smelling steam that comes from NYC street grating during winter. And get this - it's nowhere near Manhattan. It's in the heart of downtown Raleigh across from Clyde Cooper's on Wilmington at Davie. This is no hip Soho cafe with punishing crowds that ensure you never get a seat. Nope. Busy, but completely sane filled with normal, polite Raleighites enjoying kick-ass salads, fresh made-to-order sandwiches, soups, paninis, and other goodies. Aha! But the bushy-haired guys working here look like they could be hipsters or have a snarky remark chambered. But nooooooo. These guys looked me in the eye, smiled, wished me a good day, and made sure my order was exactly what I wanted.
