I literally was just in this establishment purchase the bottle of wine which did not have a price tag on it which I'm used to as I purchased that other places when they scanned it so wait a minute why is this $45 this is normally a $12 bottle of wine they said oh you picked the wrong one there's the other one in the back I said I'm confused whatever let me take that line can I get a refund to get this one they said we do not do refunds we only do exchanges I said I literally just charge my card as we speak what are you talking about basically they're here to scam you take your money they don't have the prices on there this is what they doing!! Tis place is great. No complaints. When I visit my mfriend on the UES I always come here. I feel like their wines are reasonable priced and the guys who help me are always so knowledgable about the wines. I tell them what I like and they give me a suggestion. They have always been super nice and friendly and ask me if I'd like help but not in an irritating manner. A few times I tell thm no more than 15$ and they have set me up with very delicious drinkable wines. They have a good selection of wines im not familiar with which is nice. Try em out! read more

This is an okay wine store. They have a decent selection of expensive and cheaper wines. Re: the customer service - I prefer not to be hovered over by an overattentive staff member. I know my wines and if I need help, I will ask. That being said, if you don't know what you want, I suppose this type of service could be useful. read more

I'm a tough grader when it comes to five-star wines. Five stars in the Spirit of Wine scale means "Get between me and this bottle of wine at your own risk." Those are fighting words, and represent how strongly I feel about five star wines! At Manhattan Wine Xchange Freddie one of the experience workers has a good nose and eyes for fine selection. I tried a Shiraz 2005 vintage I forgotten the name but Freddie selected it for me and it was blood red, just a glint of transparency at the edge. Aromas tumble nicely from the glass: fresh-crushed black cherries that burrow right into your brain. Just a touch of deep funk pools into an oil-slick aroma. On the palate, furry, creamy, sweet-cherry is the first note, resolving into a mouth-coating robe of deep fruit, tannins and light acids. The finish goes on forever - you almost don't need to take another sip. Of course, you will. And another. And another... When you get there ask for Freddie tell Him John L sent you. read more

The UES's Mini-Morrell store. There isn't much selection and the focus is on brand names. They offer mid-to-high end priced cabs, but not really the stuff dreams are made of. Expensive wine without the pizzaz. That doesn't mean with products are bad, just that there is no "Wow!" factor. As a friend once said, Sutter Home makes techinically sound wines, but they don't make you say, "Wow!". The prices here are consistently 15-20% higher than the bottles in Crush on 57th St a couple of blocks away. read more

MWX (as they call it) is one kick ass wine store! The store itself is super aesthetically pleasing with bright walls that give off an energy that resonates with the cheerful staff. Speaking of the staff.. they are GREAT! Super knowledgeable about wine and always give me great recs! If you are looking for a wine that they don't carry, they can try to get it for you! PLUS, they deliver - and not just in their neighborhood (Midtown East). This has been great for me as I live in Flatiron! They have FREE wine tastings every Weds, Thurs and Fri and also throw special events from time to time. The overall style of the store, the staff, and the wines makes this place hands down my favorite wine shop in all of Manhattan. Well done! read more

Having only 48 hours in New York on this business trip, and with meetings in Manhattan and Newark, NJ, plus the normal eating, sleeping etc. didn't leave me a lot of time to find a mixed case of value-priced wines to bring home as birthday gift for my long-time girlfriend. A little research on Google directed me to the Manhattan Wine Exchange, less than two blocks from a meeting site and along the route back to my hotel. I called the store, explained my needs and was assured that selecting a mixed case in a hurry and getting them packed in a shipping box ready to checked as baggage would not be a problem. True to their promise I was able choose my mixed case, and this was a challenge for a wine novice who needed lots of advice and explanation, get it packed for shipping as checked baggage and get out the door in less than 45 minutes. The staff was very knowledgeable about their wines and exhibited a passion for customer service. They included a hand written birthday card, added some personal notes from the staff and all at a very reasonable price. My mixed case of Reds totaled $206.96, including tax and packaging. While this was my first experience with the Manhattan Wine Exchange, it won't be my last. I'll be sure to stop in on my next trip to New York City. read more

Worst customer service ever! I visited them couple of times in the past - one staff would never greet me and was extremely rude when I paid for the wine at the counter. Service is variable, one staff member is usually helpful and polite, the other is unhelpful and rude - it makes one feel as if he is doing you a favor by responding to a question. I have never been more pleased! When I first went to NY Wine Exchange I was looking for a specific and rare bottle of wine. The manager was not able to locate the bottle in stock that day but spent several days trying to locate the bottle for me. I am convinced no other place would be forth that kind of effort. For all of his help I ended up buying several other bottles of wine my family enjoys and have recommended Manhattan Wine Xchange to friends and family ever since. Bottom line, if you are looking for large selection and very reasonable prices this is the place to go. I challenge you to find another place that offers this kind of quality and value. read more
