Is it just me or is everything on the shelves EXPIRED??! Going here is always a last resort for me. The few times I've come, it has always disappointed me. I realized I needed chili sauce while cooking so I made a quick run over. The most recent sauce choice I had expired 1 year and 2 months prior. I suppose chili sauce doesn't really go bad but does that mean it's okay for them to carry ever expired??? The time before last, I bought some "fresh" rice noodles only to get home and discover they had gone bad. Same experience time and time again. Stood in line at the Fish/Seafood section for over 10 minutes with no acknowledgments whatsoever. If they were busy, it's one thing. Four workers were standing around behind the counter with two workers just walking around despite there being a line. Two of them started talking among themselves pointing at the people in line and did nothing. Continued to ignore everyone. Treated everyone as if we were inconveniencing them. Workers behind the meat department was completely the opposite. One worker, even though he was doing some meat cutting, stopped what he was doing and came up to help. read more

It's not the best Asian market but it's decent. They have seafood and butcher shops. Clean your fish if you want. Ok selection of Asian fruits and veggies but American fruits are not that great quality. They sell liquor about the price you'd expect. Manila Market is closed to my house , so convenient to go shopping for food, but yet also a little Rude from 1 or 2 employees. The people who work at the fish area need to train how to be a better customer service and 1 of the cashier need more tracking how to do the job right . MOM is not my preferred supermarket to purchase ingredients for Asian inspired dishes. We only stop by as a last resort because it's on the way home. The prices are not very competitive and the products are arranged very awkwardly -- this place misses the "flow" of an easy and seamless grocery shopping experience. Produce section could be a bit more organized (the fruits and vegetables are not staged very strategically) and I have found almost "bad" vegetables on a few occasions. They do have a fish frying service in that if you pick out the fish you want to take home -- the can clean and fry it for you at request. Finally, the clerks at the register. I have always been told that if you don't have anything nice to say then you shouldn't say it all. Well, let's just say the cashiers are angry and bitter because they need a vacation or a new job. read more

Manila Market is CHEATING the customers. Specifically make the misleading price tags. The manager is unreasonable very Rude. I told her that misleading is very serious problem. She said she didn't care. She despise us old people who do not speak english well. (Most of the customers in this store old and their english is not good.) I have no ideal how much money she made from the misleading labels. I wonder if there is any government agency that can stop this type of shop FRAUD. Please see 3 of attached pictures: You can see: there are 3 sections on the same shelf, each side shows 3 prices. one side shows $2.79, $2.79 and one no price number - the price on the label has been torn off. The same good on the other side of the same shelf shows $2.69, $2.69 and $3.99. As opposed to $2.67 is $2.79 on the other side. $3.99 is no price show on the other side. But the store ask the customer to pay $2.79 instead of $2.69. Then the customer need to pay $3.99 instead of no price number. Although $2.69 and $3.99 on the same side. My question is: 1. if the store wants me to pay $2.69 for one item, I agree to buy the other for $3.99. 2. If the store want me to pay $2.79 for one item I am not agree to buy the other for $3.99 and I only have to pay $2.79 instead of $3.99 It seems like this store has confusing prices and always makes customers pay higher price. I saw DURIAN mochi for the first time and I freaked out as I am a huge fan of Durian. They offer house hold items to fresh produce. I love this market. I prefer going here over Ranch and Seafood. Maybe because it's smaller and takes less time to go through all the aisles? It's because it's super convenient nearby my parents house. This is my go to place to buy produce for Asian recipes. Pretty decent place for fish too - they even fry it for you. Plenty of parking too and I would say the prices overall are pretty similar to other markets, maybe a tad better on vegetables. read more

Small Asian market by the roommate's house in Evergreen. We stopped by last Tuesday, August 2nd around 1:30pm to buy some Quail eggs ($1.49 per pack of 10) for his restaurant. The didn't explore the market much. Just looked at the other eggs they offered such as Century egg (pei dan), Salted duck egg (haam daan). Made me crave something comforting as I love Pork and preserved egg congee (pei dan sou yuk jook). Also looked at their liquor selection which seemed modest. Saw a bunch of cognac and some other liquors like tequila, vodka, etc. I wouldn't necessarily say this a Filipino centric market as it seems like they offer the normal stuff a typical small Asian market does in SF. Out of the markets in the area this one is probably one of my last choices. I know none of them are going to be a whole food or H mart. They tend to be missing a lot of items. The lines when it's busy are really bad, my last trip was 20ish minutes. The seafood section is big and has somewhat of a wide selection. The freezer items are hit or miss as I've purchased items that were freezer burned. Veggie choices can also be limited which is my main reason to visit Asian markets. Filipino snacks here are plentiful compared to the other markets, hence the namesake, but also seem to have stocking issues. read more

This is your typical Vietnamese supermarket. Not very clean, satisfactory produce, supermarket workers with fobby accents, weird-but-delicious cuts of meat you don't normally see, frozen silkies (black chickens), jackfruit, etc. If you are unfamiliar with Vietnamese supermarkets, it's kind of fun to just saunter around and take a peek down all the aisles and sections, there is always something that will surprise you. Their frozen (red bean ice cream, bo vien (meatballs) for pho, durian, desserts), drinks (Calpico, aloe drank, teas), and snacks (all/any/every Asian and poorly translated candy/wafer/chocolate/fruit center thing) are my favorite browsing sections. Cashiers are hit or miss, but they're usually friendly. Produce on the left, seafood and meat on the right, and anything/everything in between. It can be difficult to locate things, so if you're having trouble, don't hesitate to ask someone. They also do fish frying here, which is also a hit or miss, depending on how old the frying grease is at the time of your fishy purchase. MOM is located in a pretty janky neighborhood, and I heard once there was some kind of car jacking/theft, so put your valuables away and lock your doors. This is a conveniently located supermarket so I will probably shop here until I move away, as it easily has many essentials this girl could want in her kitchen. Usually, the service here is okay. I go here often due to the variety of choices in spicy noodles. What I experienced today was terrible. I noticed the lady who was helping out the customer in front of me was very friendly towards him. When it was my turn, I approached the lady with a friendly "hello", in which she never returned a greeting. She also threw a bag on the counter for me to bag my own groceries, which I don't mind, but she had bagged the man's (before me) items for him. I didn't get what made her treat us differently. Then, my sister had to go back for ginger but I had already finished my payment. I tried to pay with card but she told me it was cash only.. understandable since I was only getting the ginger. The way she said this was very rude though. Since I didn't have cash on me, I went back to put the ginger in the vegetable area. As we were exiting, a different lady chased us down to stop us from leaving. We stopped and she immediately asks us for our receipt. She thought that we stole something due to the color of our skin. The majority of the registers are ran by Vietnamese old ladies AND the man being helped before me was of the same ethnicity. I wouldn't think anything of this except a bad experience. However, the treatment by the cashier towards the VIETNAMESE man versus me was unacceptable and so obvious. read more

Practically NO QUALITY CONTROL of fresh produce. 3 days ago, I bought a case of champagne mangoes (Ciruli Brothers) and they were tiny and 90% rotten!!! See picture below. No returns too!!! Also, they never label the SOURCE of their fresh seafood and most all of it does not say fresh or previously frozen. Other Asian market nearby label their products. I always have to ask the manager where it came from and most of the time they don't know. I ask if it came from China and they say everything' comes from China. I only come for the packaged products now. Sometimes when I'm pressed for time I'll buy some basic produce. read more

I feel like they also have a bigger selection of other asian food, drinks, and snacks. I usually come here when I plan on making pork chops, oxtail soup, or sushi. I also like their Korean selection of dumplings and soup dishes. They have a variety of candies (coffee, melon, tamarind) that I get for my mom when she's craving some. My favorite part of the market is the instant noodle aisle because they have so many options and they also provide singles for you to purchase so you can try hehe. read more

First thing, I am not a asian and so do not look,speak or understand the language that most of the staff speak in. I went there couple of weeks ago to buy some asian spices. I had them up on my phone so I could ask the staff where I could find it. First one, one cashier looked at it, asks another (probably more senior person) who then rudely points me to a direction, which the nicer staff translates to towards the back. Great. Found one item. Then I realized I needed one more item, so I go back stand in the checkout line for the senior person since she seemed to know where things were, I wait for my turn, when it comes, she just turns around and walk away. Fully aware that I was in line waiting for her. Shows up after a few minutes, extremely rudely without even looking at my phone/item says they dont have it. In the mean time I ask a customer for help finding it and she comes to me and shows me where it is. Very helpful customer but terrible staff. That lady by far was not only rude but I found her racist. Never going there again. Maybe its only for people who look and talk her language. read more

****Review is for the batteries only**** As I always say, these reviews are meant so that the business does a better job, not reviewing to talk bad upon the business but this platform is a good way to show a custom experience; in this case batteries that I really needed for a job and they failed me. So I came up one afternoon in a hurry trying to buy batteries for a Photoshoot I had that night and I knew I did not have enough time to buy them near me. Anyways, I went in there asked for batteries, the only ones they had were the Panasonic ones so I got them. Before leaving the house to go to my shoot I popped in the batteries in my flash and once I turned on the flash they died a minute after, I thought maybe it was just a defective package but come to realize all batteries were dead. Now I have an issue and do no have time to go to another store to get new batteries, luckily I found some used Duracel batteries in my car so thank god those worked even being used. Also, I wanted to return the batteries but it turns out they have to be returned within 24 hours and when I looked at the receipt it was already too late. If the manager or person in charge looks at this please double check what you're selling customers because for sure I call tell you this one reason why I won't come here again. Bought priced down crabs on 12/22. Took them out on the morning of 12/23 to attempt to boil them. Found out that they were all rot inside with dark liquid. See photos of the crabs. Called to talk to the store manager, and the guy didn't even care and refused to give store credit or a refund. He even refused to give his name. This store sells you expired/spoiled/rotten food, seafood in this case, and it can make you seriously sick! I dumped all the crabs to the garbage! Look at all the dark spots in the crabs. The legs fell off and dark spots where the legs broke off. Dark matters inside the meat. Nasty stuff! I filed a health complaint to the City of Santa Clara/San Jose. I hope this helps, because many people have complained of rotten food sold by this store! read more

A local convenient store to shop in the neighborhood with funny and friendly cashiers, the Meat butchers are fast! They cut and clean your meat/fishes. Minus 1 star due to un-organized line where everyone tries to cut in front of you, unless you shouted out loud "sorry I was here first!" great place to shop for all the Asian International self home cooking. The parking is a little sketchy with homeless, abandoned cars, and RV. Just make sure you don't have anything visible in your car. read more

Disrespectful and borderline bullying. I always let my mom walk here to shop since it's only 7 min walk from my house, hoping as an Asian market they would give her the support she needs but they disappointed me every single times (4 times to be exact). Every time she finished shopping, that one specific clerk would always pick on her, doesn't let her use her husband despite her husband has agreed to and very desperately poke fun at her for freshly immigrated. Every times she comes home with sadness and disappointments it breaks me as her child, only wish she can live her old days here in love and peace. Great place to get your Asian goods. Anytime I have a craving for Shrimp chips, Magnolia "Ube" flavor ice cream, Panda, and Pocky sticks, I come here. Oh, and since it's an Asian store, stock up on your Soy, Hoisin, and Oyster sauces here too.
