Even the most extremist Republican out there should be disgusted... because yes, they are getting their way, but what Republican should really want his (or her?) way, knowing only 10% or 20% of Americans support it, and that it's being done against the will of the people using a broken, corrupt system. Thankfully whether you're a Republican or a Democrat or just confused, you don't need to be confused about where to get your bike fixed. The service isn't always the best (I should give 4 stars for how eager they are to close in the final hour of operation, and how unfriendly they can become at that time), but the products are good, solid, affordable, and the pricing is not bad, the normal hours service is really great, and the best part is that all of your money is staying in the community because this store, which has a lot in common in terms of size and selection with a big box store, is actually a little family owned business with only this location! So it's an obvious upgrade to 5 stars for that.

As soon as I got there, Erica looked at the bike and told me it was too small and showed me the bike that was the right size. I am taller than average and bought my old bike by walking into a sporting goods store and buying one that I thought was big enough. Erica asked me about my riding habits (neighborhood rider, haven't ridden in years) and made a recommendation. I test rode the bike around the parking lot. What a difference! I bought the new bike. When I tried to inflate the tire to correct pressure with a tire pump I purchased online, I ruined the tire. I took it back to the shop and Spencer explained what happened. He also showed me how to remove and reattach my front tire. I met and spoke with other employees but do not remember their names (unfortunately). However, the customer service was the same - excellent. They don't give off that "upscale biker shop" vibe that is quite intimidating and answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. My brakes were a bit old and he did what he could to ramp them up.. however we couldn't get them to the right sweet spot. He finally put on some Shimanos.. tuned up my shifters and even aired up my shocks and when I got the bike back I was shocked at how wonderful it felt. He did everything perfectly as I would have expected it. I then had them put the wheels from the Roubaix on my Cervélo, which increased my speed by two minutes. Next, I will have them swap out my Pinarello for my Cervélo wheels. If it can be done, Fred can do it. He also will give you the best advice even if it means he's not going to make any money off the sale. He would give you the same customer service if you bought in a bike for $10.00 or $10,000.

The first bike (a road bike from 2005 that had never been professionally serviced) was repaired without prior authorization of the final total. I did not receive a call reviewing the estimate before the work was completed. However, the mechanical work itself was excellent. The bike now rides like new, and I have no complaints about the quality of the repair. $375. The second bike was a full-suspension mountain bike that I brought in primarily to diagnose rear suspension play. After the first repair experience, I made it clear that I wanted to be contacted before any major charges were made. I later received documentation showing over $500 in recommended parts before a clear authorization conversation had taken place. After discussion, the shop acknowledged the communication issue. Shortly afterward, I was informed that the carbon frame had a structural issue. I was sent a brief video and told that replacement would be required for best performance. I purchased a new frame and asked the shop to transfer the components. The entire process took approximately three months. The shop agreed to keep labor within the previously discussed range, which I appreciated. However, when the bike was returned, it had not been fully tuned. Cable routing needed correction, brakes required alignment, and shifting required a great deal of adjustment. I completed the final tuning myself. In summary: The shop is capable of good mechanical work. My primary concern throughout the process was communication and follow-through -- specifically clarity around authorization, cost transparency, and final tuning before pickup.
