Okay so not gonna lie.. kinda looks questionable when you're inside seeing that they have a Chinese restaurant on the half and then some Mexican and breakfast menu on the other side.. tried it out cause it had good reviews and was close.. and it was good!!! I got the vegetable omelette which I enjoyed very much, side of hash browns, perfect amount cooked to perfection and I chose the biscuit as my side as well which was very tasty and buttery. I went back a few times for the same thing. Recommend for breakfast there (haven't tried anything else) for sure and it's cheap $$! read more

Love Our first time here today and it's already going to be our local go-to for breakfast. The ambiance and decor flashed me back to my years living in Hawaii! No frills diner type place that's a funny mixture of different types of food... From Chinese takeout to American and some Mexican breakfast. The service was so friendly and the coffee kept coming! The food was all so good and HOT! Which is really such a huge plus for me. Also, hash browns are the best around by far and terrific pancakes. Eggs were all cooked perfectly, which is the biggest test to put any cook to for real. If the eggs are great then you're doing it right. Good job guys. They don't know the difference between breaded shrimp and Tempura shrimp and the shrimp they served as the kind you buy at Albertsons in the frozen section. So I'd stay away from tempura anything here. If your feeling lazy and don't want to cook; this place will do. If your looking for good Chinese food I'd keep looking. We came here on a Sunday in the morning the place wasnt busy at all. We sat down right away and ordered. The server was quick to get our drinks and gave us time to order. Once we ordered our food came out fairly quick. Everything was great except their scrambled eggs which is one of the reasons why i rated a 4 star not a 5. Their scrammed eggs were kinda rubbery. My husband like his Country fried steak and over easy Eggs. The over easy eggs were perfect. My daughter was in heaven with her strawberry pancakes. My mam's omelette was good but the bell peppers in the potatoes were too hard. My youngest refused to eat her grilled cheese it was pretty gross looking it was made with processed cheese not melty at all. Over all this place is better than dennys and worth trying. Looks can be decieving...this place is a very good restaurant to have breakfast. Except for the tacky window paintings, the Manna is an exceptional place to have breakfast. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and even though it cost a little under $7 bucks, the steak was good sized, the portions of my homefries were huge and I had it with 2 overeasy eggs and sourdough toast. It was really good and I was impressed. The place was well kept meaning it was really clean. I highly recommend this place not because the prices are low but because the food is good. read more

Had breakfast there this morning with the 'old people' (as in mom and dad) and they were pleased as was the hubby so thank you Yelpers. So here's the thing....first of all, it ain't that sketchy of a parking lot...for the love of God, why do people always think that a 'working neighborhood' equates 'sketchy.' :o/ That said, it's a humble joint and it's as PLAIN an old school restaurant style that you've ever been to. It's definitely a dive, no doubt. It's funny because they sell breakfast in the AM and Chinese in the PM. I grew up in the restaurant business and eating here today was like going back in time. There are no lavish sized plates, no quality, over-the-top fancy ingredients, they use plastic plates and the drinks come in some BIG AZZ old plastic glasses. The ketchup bottle was unlabeled, the jellies for the toast were some way weird brand and everything seemed worn. But the place was jumping and although the food lagged a bit in coming out, it all came out at the same time. We had a ham and cheese omelet, a veggie omelet, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, but THE best part were the pancakes!! They are like everyone has mentioned above, fluffy, tasty, real big and if you ask for extra butter, they happily bring it. There seems to be only one kind of syrup, maple (diet and reg) but they don't even need it. The owner seems to be the Asian gentlemen who was taking orders, bussing tables and in charge of the register. He was friendly but not overly so and our server was very nice and efficient. There are several specials which seemed to appeal to the many older folks who were eating there but overall the prices were VERY affordable. The neg I can complain about is that there was only ONE restroom for the entire restaurant....so go before you come in to eat. We will def come back and fyi, there is a Mexican deli next door that seemed pretty interesting as well. read more

Great little breakfast place that doesn't take all your money. They have great specials available. I had the corned beef hash and they did it just the way I like it. The hash was crispy, the eggs were over medium and the has browns were very tasty. Very clean place! Second time I have been here for breakfast and enjoyed both times immensely. Came here a few days ago to try their breakfast. I ordered the 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 sausages deal. The pancakes were big, fluffy, and tasty. I asked for the eggs to be scrambled and it was good. As for the sausages, they were round shaped patties, my favorite, and had great flavor. The service here was real good. They attend to you quickly when you arrive, patient when ordering from menu, and are always attentive of anything else you need. Overall experience was nice!! Ahh!!! What to say what to say. Definitely a hole in the wall. Without yelp, I would not have been able to find it. They are located next to a gas station. I purchased an omelette, and for $6-$7 it came with potatoes, avocado, and pancakes. Came here for breakfast with the parents one day since we live closeby. I'm not gonna lie, the outside looks a little sketch, but the inside is super cute and homey (but super no frills so don't expect anything fancy). The food is pretty basic - eggs, corned beef hash, french toast, the usual. What made the place stand out is the super reasonable prices, and the home-cooked taste of the food - we got potatoes and were asked if we wanted them cooked with peppers or other added items so we knew it was cooked fresh, plus they offered local favorites like chorizo & eggs. The chicken fried steak for 7.99 that comes with eggs and potatoes and toast or english muffin is a great deal in that most places charge 9-10 bucks or more. There are other good specials such as the 3.99 deal that you get two eggs, pancakes and bacon/sausage. This place is a great deal for a cheap breakfast. Was staying in Chula Vista and used Yelp to find a place within walking distance of our hotel for a good American breakfast. Note this place is a little hard to find. Both my son and daughter passed by in their cars missing it. Look for the gas pumps out front from the business in the same plaza. It is a hole in the wall. Pluses: 1. Very good breakfast food. All 5 of us enjoyed our meals. 2. Very inexpensive, and I mean inexpensive. 3. Large portions 4. Nice friendly service. Manager/owner(?) is very friendly. 5. Lots of room. 6. Nice homey diner feel. Minuses: 1. Flies were annoying. The doors were open enjoying the great San Diego weather, but there were no fans keeping the flies out. What a crazy Menu! We stopped here for breakfast on the last day of a recent vacation and it was great! I had the Huvos Rancheros and my husband had a classic American breakfast and they were both great and very fairly priced. I wish we would have found it sooner I want to try their lunch and dinner foods as the menu looked interesting and yummy. We will be back to try something else! read more

My parents brought home some breakfast from here one day, so I didn't quite get the full Manna experience. They brought me back a chicken fried steak breakfast, which is a normalcy for me. I'm actually not a huge breakfast person in general, but if I have to, it's going to be chicken fried steak. So here's the breakdown, the chicken was above average. Had a really good taste and the gravy was delicious too. The meal came with that, eggs, hash browns and english muffins, so it was a pretty good amount of food. Unfortunately, everything else was pretty average, so I couldn't really give this anything higher than a 3/5. read more

Ok I know it sounds odd to have a restaurant serving traditional American breakfast and Chinese fast food lunch but hear me out! Breakfast - for $3.99 you can get 2 eggs, 2 bacon slices or sausages, and 2 pancakes or toast or English muffins, what a DEAL! And the food quality? GOOD! I felt like I was getting a Denny's breakfast for half the price. Coffee is nice and medium bold with plenty of refills if you like that. Lots of regulars here in the morning so it's a good sign. They all seem to have a rapport with the owner and his employee server as if they've been coming here for years. Lunch - I used to walk here at least once a week when I was working at a nearby engineering company for a quick no fuss Chinese lunch. They give you a lot for what you pay for and follow up service at your table is nice considering it's a fast food style lunch. I usually get beef and broccoli with chow mein and fried rice or kungpao chicken. What a neat lil mom and pop restaurant in Chula! Don't come here expecting all the bells and whistles and fancy decor. It's a simple/clean joint right next to a gas station with a friendly owner. read more
