Some of the best fries I have ever had came from Manneken Pis. I remember walking through the street and seeing so many people with these fries that I had to try them. The fries were cooked so perfectly, they were just the right amount of crisp. The best thing about the fries is all the choices they have for sauces. They have so many it's hard to choose from. A better reason to keep going back and try them all. I also like the cardboard container they come in. It fits perfectly in your hand and is just the right amount to have you feeling full and satisfied. Definitely recommend this place and will definitely go back if I'm in Amsterdam again. read more

The name is not appealing, i'll have to admit. But the fries with various sauces are quite appetizing, especially after a day of walking the streets of Amsterdam. It reminded me alot of Pomme Frites in NYC. Long queues but they go fast. read more

Worst fries I've ever eaten. Manneken Pis is extremely overrated. The fries were extremely soggy and salty and not worth the premium price. You're forced to take a really large amount because they don't have the option to buy a small amount and you, therefore, have to pay for it too. read more

I love fries and I love that Amsterdam has frites shops. I tried chips from a few of the frites shops around Amsterdam and these were definitely the best. Hot, big, chunky, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. We had ketchup and garlic mayo on ours. They're not the best I've ever had but they're pretty delicious. I went back the next day for more and got even more sauces. I think I preferred them with only two sauces... So good though. Will miss the chip shops! read more

This place is amazing enough to haunt my dreams when I'm hungry or away from Amsterdam. No one does it quite like this. One of my favorite places to stop and get Belgian fries in Amsterdam. They have so many good sauces to pick from (I've never been disappointed and I pick different ones a lot). I absolutely love fries and was rather excited to try this place. I ordered the small with cheese sauce assuming that it was similar to an American nacho cheese. It was a strange sour flavor and made my stomach churn. The boyfriend ordered the small with the spivey mayo. After each having 3-4 bites we decided to toss it. So good. So many toppings to choose from. They're quick, yet delicious. Stop on by for some warm fries next time you're in Amsterdam. Portions are large, and their conveniently located between the train station and Dam plaza. You can split a "small" cone of fries between 2 people easily. read more

pretty good frites. we got the fritesaus and the cheese sauce.... and i wasn't a huge fan of either. maybe this would have been a better experience with different sauces. long line but it moves quickly. loved the stands out front with the "cone holes" that perfectly hold the frites cone. i'd definitely go again and try another sauce. read more

These are quite possibly the best French fries aka chips aka frites in Amsterdam. Variety of sauces and big portions. I am still trying to find my favorite sauce but there are about ten of them so it takes a while. There is no seating room. In fact, there is no standing room unless you want to stand outside and eat, something many people do. read more

Accidentally ordered a large... Haha too big for two people to eat but it was so good we finished it anyway had. Had it with their signature mannekin pis sauce and there are some extra herbs and spices in a bottle on the side you can add in if you look for it. Unless something has drastically changed since late 2015, I simply don't get all the negative reviews! First off, Vlaamse Frites are NOT "french fries". As a Dutch buddy said, "french fries are what McDonalds sells." Nobody here has EVER been rude to me. Not sure where that comment came from. Sure, Vlaams Friteshuis Vleminckx is good but this place holds it's own. Yes, it's in a busy area but even as a lover of peace and quiet, since when does eating frites require a bucolic setting? There is NOTHING in my part of the US like this! Give me some frites with sate saus or, better yet, patate oorlog met uitjes and I am a happy camper! read more

It's just one of those places in Holland where I can't help but to stop by and buy myself some fries (Frites). People in the states find it weird that these fries are eaten with mayo, and other sauce such as 'curry', but I find it absolutely delicious. Almost every winter I come to Holland, and I can't stop myself from buying some fries with peanut sauce and mayo. Writing about it right now makes me miss Holland so much! They are claimed the #1 fries in Netherlands. And indeed they are. Dutch people are able to eat fries for breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch, you name it. These fries are seasoned nicely and they are thickly cut. Looking at the menu, it looks extremely strange they allow you to choose half of these sauces with the fries. But who knew? All of them would be so good with the fries! there are around 15 sauces to choose from! I recommend picking the mayonnaise as your sauce of choice when it is your first time. That is the main attraction. The mayonnaise is hard to describe but it has a bit of sweetness to it so it's not like the American mayonnaise you use in your sandwich. I've tried that, that's gross. Also, I usually can finish loads of food but even the medium size was a struggle. read more

Was walking for the first time in Amsterdam's Centraal Station and saw a long line at this establishment. No, they are not french fries but Belgian frites. And you need to get it with the mayonnaise-based sauce (for a 25 cents more or so). They were a lot of them for the price and it is very tasty. It's kind of like the Zesty sauce you get at Burger King franchises. It was 5.95 w/o the sauce and was a larger size. Either way, it's a good takeaway walking around Centraal and a must have before leaving Amsterdam. read more
