Came for bike service and I was beyond dissatisfied. Bad service with terrible owner, I would not recommend.

I changed the tire of my scooter there and the next day I realized that they only repaired my old tire and charged me for a new tire

Manny's the best, I've been going there for twenty years. I crashed my bike in June, three fx's, bicycle @ NYP for three months, the wheels were tacos, I walked the bike up to 181 & Bennett, Good as new! I'm back on the horse ;-) I used to have a fancy titanium Greg LeMond bicycle 700 mm tires.. Manny's was the only bike shop that Always had the correct tubes with the right length presta valves..other bike shops sell you tubes with 4" presta valves for deep dish wheel, smh.. read more

I was on my way to another bike shop much further down (on the UWS), when I spotted this one. After reading the reviews on Google, it seemed like a good place to go. Have to take negative reviews always with a grain of salt and the very few I saw, were old. And thank God, I did give it a try, cuz now I have a place to go to that is MUCH closer to home. Manny (the owner) was great. Quoted me on the spot with a fair price ($40 to change front and back breaks of my ebike -- more expensive than regular bikes). He was done in 10 min - while I watched him work - and he showed me which breaks he was putting in (higher quality). read more

Manny's bike shop is a no nonsense, unpretentious bike repair shop. His work is great, the prices can't be beat, and Manny will get you on your way in no time, even with everything going on. My front and rear derailleurs had gotten knocked out of whack during my ride to work last week, and my bike needed adjusting. After a failed home attempt to adjust things, I took it to the shop today, and Manny adjusted my bike and had everything shifting smoothly in minutes. The bill was $10. He also switched handlebars, added new brake levers and ran new cables on my husband's bike last month, and did a fantastic job for a very reasonable price. Thank you Manny! read more

It seems like a lot of these reviewers need to check their expectations. For repairs and adjustments and mechanic type issues, Manny's is excellent. It's cheaper than anywhere in the area, Manny himself is a great mechanic, and it's always done quickly. You can't bring a random junk bike into a shop and expect overhauling it to cost less than the price of a junk bike. You wouldn't expect that with a car either. And you can't walk into a small shop like this and expect the sole mechanic to spend lots of time to walk you through limited inventory. I suggest just buying a bike online and having Manny tune it up. He made my cheap folder ride like a much nicer bike. Anyway, tune-ups here are below average cost for NYC and all other labor has been generally below average. Like all small shops like this in NYC, there's not a ton of inventory for new bikes; there's several folders and some stunt bikes for good prices. read more

Expensive and took advantage of a working person. He charged me $180 for a tune up and to change the gears on my bike. Im no bike expert so I trusted his word. 2 days later, my tire goes completely flat on a hill. Almost lost my life due to MANNYS arrogance. I took it back to his shop, complained in front of 2 customers. He SNATCHES my bike, hooks up the back tire and tells me "You shouldn't believe those reviews on line, it's the heart of the person that matters" FOH MANNY. Go to the local guys in your community. Stop supporting this dude. GO to Tread or the shop on 175 and broadway. read more

While I do agree that the vibe in this bicycle repair shop does give you the feeling that Manny doesn't really care about you, I was proven wrong. I've gotten to know Manny over the past year and he's always been there for me to fix my bike or add modifications to it. Manny's prices are fair and I haven't had any issues with his service. I really like Mani. I have used his shop over the years. Unfortunately he has made mistakes on my bike that have nearly killed me. Once he failed to tighten one bolt on the rear wheel on my fixie. The other time he did not tighten on the crank bolt. I found both these problems while riding both could have easily been fatal. I have started going to Tread bike shop. If you need supplies stop by and he will have what you want. You need wrenching, go somewhere else. read more

I can't give any stars to the service my bike received during a "tune-up." When I tried to quick release my front tire, it was not possible at all. Riding was difficult because the front brakes were rubbing against the tire. And to top it all off, my tires were not even filled with enough air. I had to take my bike to another shop to fix the quick-release and readjust the front brakes. And it was there that the tire pressure was checked and fixed. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Mani has always done a great job on my bike. I go there for tune ups, flats, whatever. I work/commute to Washington Heights and would much rather go to Mani's than Victor's on Broadway because I've had bad experiences with Victor's doing a crap job. Also- to Deborah, I doubt there were "5 workers" the shop is tiny and usually it's Mani, his son (maybe) and his wife working the desk on the rare occasion. This place is great. It used to be across the street. Now it's not. The owner (I guess his name is Manny) is a great mechanic. Really knows his stuff. My bike is 45 years old and he knows exactly what to do to keep it going. And he does it while I wait there. And his prices are very reasonable. read more

took my electric scooter that had a bent rotor. Not the cheeriest guy, but i wasnt paying for smiles. He took care of my scooter, charged me less than what he initially quoted because it was an easier job than he imagined. Great experience, I was in and out probably in 10 mins. This is the only store between 175th street and Dyckman in Manhattan. I used to think it was important to support the local businesses. But after a couple of bad experiences, I advise avoiding this place, even for Air ($.50). Good selection of accessories but as for bikes, Target would be a better deal, as the customary maintenance is suspect. Encourages payment in cash to avoid sale tax as well as avoid recourse if the consumer is unhappy. The first time I left my bike for annual maintenance/tune -up overnight. In the Afternoon when I returned, he had not done anything with the bike as promised. He told me come back in 20 minutes, and merely adjusted the gear shift, -no cleaning, no lube etc. A waste of $40! More recently, popped 2 spokes of the rear tire, reluctantly walked to his shop and he replaced them for $12. Somehow he had misplaced the Quick release Axle that came with my Giant/ Cypress, and replaced it with whatever was lying around. I only got 3 blocks away when another spoke popped, the rim now severely warped. He had not bothered to readjust the other spokes. Went to Tread on Dyckman and had to replace the rim for $60. no charge for Air, same parts are cheaper, take credit cards, all the things a good store should do! So glad I took a chance on Manny's. After commuting in all kinds of weather without any on-going maintenance, my bike all the sudden was a pile of noisy junk. The owner should pay attention to these reviews about lack of attentiveness to new customers. (I have bought parts there in the past; service slow but got what I wanted.) read more

I walked in last week looking for a bike. There was no one in the store except for one guy behind the counter reading a magazine. No hi, no hello, no welcome, no nothing. I started looking at a few bikes. Still no nothing. Finally, I walked out. If you can't even greet a customer when he walks in the door, don't be surprised when a customer walks out the door. With several good bike shops in the area, why waste my time with a bad one? This is also one of the very few bike shops that charges for air. Come on. read more

But I have to admit that all the work he's done for me has been fine and at an ok price. Been taking both my MTB and high end road bike there for years. Have always received fast, efficient and reasonably priced work that is properly done. It can be a neighborhood hangout with most people speaking Spanish...maybe that is a put off for some, but Mani and his son know what they are doing. read more
