Yiddish lessons?! Cute

The time I came was great because we were able to be seated away from others. It was going to get scrambled eggs until the waitress brought French toast to a nearby table and it looked so beautiful and the coloring was so perfect. So I ordered the French toast! When it came, it was beautiful and delicious and hot. The only thing that could've made it better was real maple syrup. My friend got poached eggs and cute little potato latkes . And they came with a little cup of applesauce and sour cream. And I sampled it, and it was so delicious and I think there was a touch of onion in the latke. I was happy to see they had matzoh balls and matzoh ball soup. They had pictures of a matzoh ball, eating contests, and I kinda thought that was sweet. Our waitress really took care of us and we enjoyed our breakfast . I'd like to come back and try some of that matzoh ball soup and get a little package of rugelach. Looks like they have blk &whites cookies! Egg bagels too!!

Corned beef special. Ate the other half.

Ordered a corn beef special and it was delicious! Best corn beef around. Also, ordered mushroom barley soup. They make the best soups as well. Looking forward to the Borsch in the winter.

My wife and I conducted a blind rye bread tasting. Five ryes competed for bragging rights. How does one conduct a "blind" tasting. My wife took a slice of bread from each deli and numbered them 1-5. Only my wife was aware of the mapping of the deli to the numbers. I then returned to the room and my wife stepped away. I made the sandwiches and then converted the numbers to letters. #1 becomes letter C, #2 becomes letter A, etc. The mapping of numbers to letters was only known by me. Below are the results in order of worst to best. #5 Original South Philly Jewish Rye (available at Giant Food Markets) cost $6 for a full loaf. This was our least favorite. No flavor and the texture was completely off. The bread was very dry, almost stale. If you are short on time (and money), this will work but my recommendation is head to a deli and get some real NY Jewish Rye. #4 Ben & Irv's Deli in Southamptom cost $5.50 for a half loaf. The texture gets us closer to a true deli rye bread but still dry and light on flavor. #3 Moish and Itzy's in Newtown cost $6.00 for a half loaf. The crust is chewy as it should be and tasted great. The inside is a bit on the dry side. This was just a hair behind the #2 spot. Candidly I would rank this higher but my wife found the dryness unacceptable and I never win an argument with her. #2 Borscht Belt in Newtown cost $10 for a half loaf. This is a softer texture if that is your thing. My wife liked the texture but I like a chewier crust and heartier bread. I don't know that this bread will hold up to a mound of meat or wet toppings. The flavor was terrific. If you don't mind spending $10 for a half loaf of bread, then give it a try. I'm saving for retirement so probably won't return anytime soon. #1 [Top Spot] Manny's Famous Deli in Holland cost $4.50 for a half loaf. Winner winner chicken dinner. This is the fan favorite and a must try for anyone that values a good bread. Manny's offers the gold standard of ryes and at a price that leaves enough money to also buy a deli pickle. Let us know if you would like us to assess another favorite food. Even better, are you convinced you have a favorite? Put your conviction to the test and conduct a blind tasting of your own.

Jew-cuterie (coined by me!) w/ a side of latkes.

What can you say, but classic Jewish food served fresh, quick and with snappy service. I wish my hometown had a Manny's - or any town within 100 miles, I would make the drive!

Excellent food. Exceptional tuna salad, smoked fish, turkey, cole slaw, macaroni, and potato salad. Has become my go to for take out. Great local deli.

Ask the Community - Manny's Restaurant and Delicatessen

I've never been to your restaurant but I'm looking forward to your new willow grove location. Will there be any kosher meats on the menu?

Hey Pamela! We are a “kosher style” company! This means that many of our meats are kosher- however,…

I wasn't going to post this but if you actually sort reviews and don't just look at the top good…read moreones you'll see a lot of the same. Customer service. Old food. Lack in quality. I've mentioned in previous reviews that this location is not my favorite, I still prefer the Warminster location and that was true until I had gone recently and they moved their bakery. We had spoke to others as well who live closer to doylestown but still go to Warminster because it's just better. Maybe I'll go to Warminster when I'm in a pickle but overall I think I am done with the altomontes store. It's sad to say but this once great small business is falling and I know it will still continue to pull all the doylestown locals with $ to burn. So if you're happy serving lesser quality at exuberant costs to keep this inflated mecca Italian wonderland - so be it. But the heart of this business and the quality that Mike started is no longer. You guys really need to start paying attention to your business and stop trying to keep grow grow growing and doing all of the stuff on social media if you're not going to invest in the business and quality of what you already have. Got overcharged for pasta that literally had prices posted over all the aisles by $1 a box which sure isn't a lot but it adds up. Especially when people are budgeting and buying things by a cost. And if you're doing that to me then how many other people? Just go change your signs if you're increasing costs! They also don't have the same desserts here that they do at their alto cafe which was sad to see. I also don't appreciate how the ordering has changed. As others have mentioned too the deli counter isn't nice and they don't want to cut you fresh items. I also was directed to the pre cut deli case when I just wanted fresh cut meat. I'm just tired of spending my good hard $ at a "small business" that isn't so small any more. And forget about the quality too - I know I've posted before but the quality is not what it used to be. It's obvious they care about the bottom line then making a good product. The specials are aborrhent as others have mentioned - which as I've posted in reviews is especially sad because you see a photo of the product online and get something that doesn't even resemble the item you ordered. Its a shame that all these changes are taking away the quality and what many people loved. Sometimes it's not always best to expand and shift the business to be trendy and social media centric. Sometimes it's better to stay small and true to the original quality rather than being out of touch from the people that have quite literally helped you build your business.

But, if you appreciate family owned and operated businesses that do things as they have for the past thirty years, it is well worth slowing down to find it. We stopped in after taking the PennDot driving test nearby, in need of breakfast and coffee. Their all day breakfast sandwich sign in the window was most welcoming. No tables in the tiny shop, but a short wall shelf with four stools was all we needed. We each ordered a sandwich with variations of bacon, sausage and pork roll, egg and cheese on hard rolls. At $4.50 per, the price was right. Daughter took our order at the cashier post, while Mom worked the grill and dad brought in new inventory. All their Sammies were very good, with special mention to the rolls which were fresh and excellent. Choice of cheese helped, too. Liked them alot. If there was any shortfall, it was that the sausages seemed to be those precooked frozen jobs just reheated, rather than a fresh patty brought to life on hot steel. It would have been even better with the higher quality ingredient. Still, that is a minor nit in an otherwise high value morning meal. May they have another 30 years!

The woman who took my order told me all about them and asked if I wanted to add one to my order. I told her no, but I would definitely be ordering one to go. With that said, here is our experience. My pastrami sandwich was very good. The rye bread was good, but the crust was very hard and I could not bite throught it. My mom did not care for her corned beef sandwich and said the meat had a decent flavor, but was cut too thick. She also could not bite the bread's crust. Our latkes were tasty and you can't go wrong with Dr. Brown's cherry soda! Now, the disappointing part. I ordered take-out, one small chicken matzah ball soup and one potato knish. I ordered with the same woman who raved about their kinish and guess what, she forgot to include the kinish in my bag. She brought the take-out bag to our table and assured me everything was there. I asked if the kinish was there, to which she said, "yes, as is the soup". Drove home over 30 minutes and no kinish. When I called them, the woman who took my order and packed the bag said, "Oh". Yes, she credited my card, but still....I was so looking forward to that kinish. If you're used to NYC deli, this is not it, but it is decent.
