Great food and service. We went on Saturday night around 5:15. I had ordered the linguini and clam sauce, my wife ordered the eggplant parmigiana. Both were very good and we enjoyed them. For dessert we ordered a cannoli and split it. First off, all the dishes including the cannoli are large and meant to be shared, unless you order half portions. That cannoli! We went there twice before submitting this review. The first time was at 9:00 P.M. on a Wednesday night. We had taken the AirTrain from JFK to the LIRR, and rolled into Mio Posto with our carry-on luggage and backpacks. It's only a block from the Merrick station and we hadn't eaten anything since breakfast. Somehow we were unaware of its existence, despite living only a few miles down the road, so we were happily surprised to see a lively crowded bar with a younger group on the right, a high ceiling, well spaced and white-table-clothed tables in the dining area with older adults (like us) on the left. The owner, "Frankee," greeted and seated us. He also dropped by to say hello and chat ... very friendly, and we saw him sit down at two other tables to chat. One time there was a live singer playing an electric keyboard at the far end of the bar, lots of songs we recognized. There were four unoccupied tables on a narrow second floor nook spanning the rear wall, maybe for a small, private party? Both times the service and food were excellent, from the salad to the entrées to the dessert (including great tiramisu). The last time we were there, I snapped a photo of the jumbo shrimp over spinach with oil and garlic, but didn't bother with photos of the dishes with Parmesan cheese because then all you see is mozzarella cheese on top and not what's under it. FYI, a lot of dishes are called "Parmesan" due to the Parmesan style of layering the entrée (whether it be chicken, veal or eggplant) with sauce and cheese. It's moderately priced. Their "half" portions are often enough for two, so you can often order for one, but get enough for two, especially if it's a three-course meal ... just ask for extra plates. read more

Interesting! So we came here for a date night and the experience was overall fairly good but it seemed to me that this restaurant does play favorites to the regular customers. I can tell based on how they were greeted and how quickly they get service etc. Beyond this, I really thought this restaurant was great being our first time here. The food is very good and can be served family style. The noise level was loud on the day we came which was a Friday and a DJ played music which was awesome. We are visiting from Honolulu and told our NY family that we would like to have good Italian food for dinner, their suggestion was Mio Posto. We let them order and they ordered an assortment of dishes, veal, chicken, fish, Spicy, creamy. The flavors were all there. We had a terrific evening with family and great food. The restaurant was busy, thank goodness we made reservations. The service was fantastic, the wait staff brought our food out as soon as it was available and served family style. The restaurant was loud, but everyone in the restaurant seemed to be having a good time. Birthday celebrations by the look of the balloons being brought in and large groups of people. Been here a few times and on 3 occasions for my firehouse XMas party. We had a party of 27 for an 8 o'clock reservation and they sat us promptly at that time, no waiting around. The server they had for us for drinks was doing a great job with handling drinks for 27. The food was good and they spaced bringing all the courses at a good time frame. We used to go to Mio Posto in Oceanside and Long Beach when they were open and always enjoyed our many dinners there - this was our first time at the Merrick location. When we entered the restaurant, we immediately noticed to the right a very long (30 feet?) granite bar and to the left is the dining room - both with a soaring ceilings making the rooms to appear very large. It is smartly appointed, warm, inviting and classy. There is also a large and bright party room to the back and on the left from where we entered. For appetizer, we had baked clams, fried zucchini and tomato mozzarella salad. All were good and tasty. Then, we shared penne alla vodka - excellent! For dinner, we had Norwegian salmon, eggplant Parmagiana, chicken Marsala, and chicken Francese - plentiful and delicious. We were so full we skipped dessert and only ordered coffee. The service was OK, not great, as the waiter was very busy and seemed confused as to who ordered which dinner, and the busboy who was moving so quickly almost hit my face when removing plates and glasses from the table. It hard to park but there's the Long Island railroad station down the block and another lot across the street behind the stores. We had an office party for Christmas. The atmosphere was very nice but it was very low lite. I believe we had family style meal. The portion ghat was given to us was very small. I only had a 1/4 of a meatball. The steak was cut thinly and dry. It was very well done. We also had chicken Parmesan. The chicken was cut very thin. It had good flavor. But I wish I can have more food. My favorite dish was the fried calamari. It was very crispy and the marinara sauce was quite delicious. I visited this restaurant with my friend, the first thing I noticed was how lively the bar was. We were sat at a table and the staff was so accommodating. The service is what would bring me back. It was very loud at the restaurant with a lot of kids and a kids party in the rear. As we were only three, we could not reserve a table and thus we were offered a possible 45 minute wait. We Love everything about the place from the warm welcome when we come in from all 3 owners to all of the staff. As soon as we sit they are putting bread on your table and asking if you would like anything from the Bar. (Spot on service) Ok So let's talk food, the food here is always on point. We are obsessed with the large chopped salad with all the good stuff, that's the meat and cheese added. We get the large so we have leftovers. The pasta ala Chris is a spicy pasta it is so delicious and has a lil kick to it. And I can't even tell you how delicious all the entrees are, but 2 of our favorites are Veal Franky and the Steak with Gorgonzola cheese. My wife and I came here for the Merrick Kiwanis meeting and it was wonderful. Besides being very easy to get to, there is plenty of parking and a very quick walk from the car. The restaurant has a certain electricity to it. Lots of people sitting, talking and enjoying themselves. We were brought to the side room. Ample seating, large area and very bright. Just perfect. The main room had a great organic-trendy vibe. After getting the meeting portion completed, we sat down to a very delicious dinner. They started us with a salad then distributed the most delicious baked clams. These were really [really] good. Our server did a really great job of keeping up with our water, bread and overall comfort. My wife had the chicken marsala while I had the chicken francaise. These were good... not just good, but really good. I am always impressed when a food establishment can hand out 30 dinners quickly, and make sure that they are still hot, incredibly tasty and fresh. My first time there and what started out as a nice night for a birthday party for our group of 26 people ended with a bad taste in all of our mouths. All the gifts (cards with money and bottles of liquor) were stolen from a small shelf that was located against the wall behind our table. There is no way that another customer could have gone around the table and taken it all and we feel that it must have been the staff. The restaurant was completely unwilling to assist us in locating the stolen goods and even though there are cameras in the restaurant they refused to let us see them and claimed that they don't work. This is not the way to do business. All 26 guests are local and many have been here numerous times but if you can't trust the staff or management then I'm not sure i can trust the kitchen either. read more

Went there for my son's surprise birthday party and he was seated in the middle of Long table and had his gifts/bottles piled right behind him on shelf against the wall and birthday cards. At the end of the night we stepped away to dance and when we came back to table everything was gone. When asked about where everything was, the servers claimed they didn't know and manager didn't know, said someone had taken them. Nobody from our party took them and we were the only ones left in restaurant. We came back the next day to See camera footage and the claimed the cameras didn't work. It was a delight to visit Mio Posto after the 2022 Jones Beach Air Show. We entered into, what seemed, Frank Sinatra's old stomping grounds. The restaurant is beautiful and has both old world charm and trendy vibes. We received very professional and courteous service from a hard working and attentive staff. Someone always checked up on us and immediately filled our water glasses. The food was AMAZING. The warm bread and warm peppers were complementary and they were both very good. We started with the Mio Posto salad, which I highly recommend. They serve it in a large bowl and will take two, or more, servings to finish. Highly recommended. Our meatballs were d.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s and we took A LOT home. The sauce was exquisite and it came with parmessan and ricotta cheese, to sprinkle on top. I came into this place with the intention of sitting near the bar with my friend, however, the smell of the steak was too much to handle and we had to try it. This place is GORGEOUS. It actually reminds me of a ballroom. Clean, classy, well decorated with dim lighting. We ordered the steak and demolished it, I wish I had a picture but even then, it doesn't do it justice. The taste was... out of this world and I could tell they didn't overwhelm it with spices. Instead it tasted fresh and lightly salted. If you're a steak lover THIS PLACE IS A GEM that you've been missing out on. I came all the way from Manhattan on train and it 100% beats many places in the city. The service was good. It was fast, I didn't speak to our server too much but wish I got his name because of how quick he was working. Very competent. Came here for the first time for a family member's birthday dinner. Our server's name is Joseph. He was attentive, we let him know we had a pre-fixed menu. He let us know there was a little miscommunication about our dinner party prix fixe menu and he took care of it. The salad was delicious, and I asked for a second one. The crab cakes were also delicious, and according to the rest of the party, the meatballs were good too. I didn't like the calamari, they were too thick. Made a reservation the day of and they were able to accommodate! We were seated right away when we arrived too. Appetizers we did 6 baked clams (delish and not fishy, little necks) and the spicy fried calamari. Entrees we did half order of linguine garlic and oil, half shrimp oreganata, and the steak with Gorgonzola cream sauce. All dishes were delicious and flavorful. We wrapped up most of these!
