Below average stunning waterfront location. Restaurant rests on there stunning location charges you as if you were at the most fanciest restaurant on Long Island and gives you a blow average thrown in front of you food. No bread no water unless you ask go to another restaurant

Very nice fun night out on the deck on the water at Salt, if you want a vacation vibe right at home I highly recommend Salt. Live steel drummer playing great music while you enjoy adult drinks and very good food options. Service is great, and very friendly. You'll ask why you haven't come sooner.

Great spot on the water. We were seated right away and our server was super friendly and helpful. Menu is somewhat limited in terms of variety. Burger was good but over cooked. Poke bowl was fresh and delicious. Overall a solid place but a little on the pricey side for what it was.

Lobster Ravioli

The food was very good, had the lobster ravioli, and the beef on pappadell noodles. Wish there was more carrots in the beef dish. The ravioli was very flavorful. Service was excellent and quick. The restaurant on the water is lovely on a sunny day!

Perfect summer outing to enjoy for a date or group get together. Started with the zucchini and eggplant fried chips . They were tasty, just a tad salty. The special dinner menu had Red Snapper , sweet plantain and coconut rice. I couldn't resist - it comes whole or filleted , I chose to have it off the bone and was not disappointed. The meal portions are large and served hot, that's always a plus. Dessert menu includes something for everyone. All very rich , filling choices . The Rainbow cake was moist and delicious. The cocktail menu was one of the best I've seen in ages. I highly recommend the MARKY MARG ! Inspired by Mark Wahlberg | Flecha Azul Blanco Tequila, Aperol, Watermelon, Lime Juice, Agave Nectar, Muddled Basil . It was so nice I tried it twice !! All the servers and hostesses give service with a smile . Will definitely go back again for the Sunday brunch . Valet parking is available and street parking .

Disappointing. Like Louie's PW the views are lovely unlike Louie's no bread. It was downhill after the chowder which was very clammy & good. Ate: Chowder Watermelon salad Halibut String beans Fried squid The halibut which I only order in restaurants was a crushing disappointment. Haricot verts looked good. Watermelon salad was sliced watermelon & mint. We wanted to like it but alas.....

Had a yummy lunch at Salt. A beautiful day by the water. The food and service were both great! Young staff are very attentive. I was somewhat surprised the food was so tasty. Places by the water aren't usually known for the best food but it was a lovely lunch.

So let me start by saying I have a review on here from a few years ago. I gave this place rave reviews because they deserved it. It was one of the reasons I returned yesterday with my daughter for her graduation lunch. The scenery is always so beautiful and relaxing. The host was accommodating because I had one extra to my party. My server was the sweetest ever. Here's where the problem came in, the food. We had the Thai Calamari...Good the Caesar Salad also good. Oysters Fresh and came with all the fixings. Time for the entrees. I had the filet mignon which came with mash and greens beans. I asked for the steak Medium well...it came WELL WELL green beans were over cooked and discolored. Mash potatoes lacked flavor and texture. They were clumpy. My mother had the Short Ribs and pasta. Beef no flavor and pasta not salted. I was so disappointed as I drove 40 minutes there and 40 minutes back for Bayside. I definitely didn't have the same experience I had the first time i discovered this place. You will see the pics from the first time shows how impressive they were back then.

We hadn't been to Salt On The Water for a few years but went for brunch on Sunday. We had Eggs Benedict which were perfectly cooked. Our server Casandra was excellent. Took our order right away and the food came out quick. The staff were all great from the greeter to the Valet. They all smiled and thanked us for coming. Will definitely go back soon.

Hair in the seafood rissoto

Nice view and the food was pretty fresh very flavorful. i highly recommend it. our waiter provided wonderful service and helped us out selecting the dishes. we dined outside with a nice view of the water instead of indoors. the fish tacos and fries was top tier one of the best i had! the chipotle mayo on it was pretty spicy and had a delightful kick to it. the fries were made perfect i enjoyed it very much and would get it again. the seafood risotto was the star of the show and enough to feed 2-3 people! they didn't give us serving spoons and unfortunately there was a hair in the risotto which is why i took down a star. also when the clean bus boy came he just yanked the plate out from us and we had to stop him from leaving to give back the ketchup for the french fries. at any establishment its polite to ask the customer if they were done with their meal before proceeding to take the plates. the food is good, and could be better sanitary since there was hair in it but other then that, hats off to the amazing chefs. the waitress is phenomenal and on point but the bus boy needs training 7.5/10 B+ Absolutely coming back here for more!

Salmon with wedged potatoes, string beans and mango!

The food here is delicious! My favorite is the salmon I'm not basic just classic okay.. you can never go wrong with the salmon.. the veggies make it tastier and the lobster roll warm, creamy and with lots of meat is a must try if you like lobster rolls. The mojitos are great just play it safe haha they will for sure do the job. The service and waitresses are great and good vibes by the water you will love it! (I prefer outdoor sitting for a change at least on a nice sunny day).

Baked Clams- $28.00

Ambiance is the reason people come here! One of the few places on the water. Is busy, you need reservations in most cases to be seated, however the food takes long to come -40mins for appetizers, longer for the main courses. Staff is nice, average. Strawberry salad really good- refreshing and the dressing very tasty. Seafood risotto pretty average. Baked clams - do not recommend! 8 pieces $28.00. All u see and taste is dry bread crumbs. Disappointed- no chef should bring that dish to customers!!!

Ask the Community - Salt On The Water

Hi there! Can anyone tell me if Salt in Merrick charges a fee for using a credit card? Thanks!

U care ?

Is there a happy hour option?

Do you need reservations for weekday lunch 12pm or can walk in?

It's always best to have a reservation for any restaurant, but you will most likely get a table without one. Each time I've gone I didn't have one.

Do you allow dogs in your outdoor patio?

Unfortunately yes

Can I see Jones beach fireworks from Salt?

Yes

Is Salt going to provide outdoor heaters for outside dining?

Plenty of outdoor heaters spread throughout.

Do they have a kids menu?

Yes, they do!

Not a single regret. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and prepared perfectly. What really stood out was the staff. They were incredibly patient and kind with our sons, taking the time to explain different fish, what they taste like, and what they might enjoy most. That level of care turned dinner into an experience, not just a meal. The restaurant was immaculate, the servers were courteous and genuinely friendly, and the overall atmosphere made us feel welcome from start to finish. It's rare to find a place that nails food, service, and family friendliness all at once, but this place does. We'll absolutely be back.

Nothing like you find in a real fish and chips shop in the UK, not even close. The $10 lobster bisque soup we were told has "chunks" of lobster in it. What we got was a pinky nail size piece of claw meat. What a sorry item. Our waiter vanished and was never seen again, we were left for dead. Overall a disappointing expensive meal. This was our first and last visit.

They now have valet parking, but they don't take reservations, despite what's stated on the Internet. Prices have increased and the menu has changed since our visit last year. It's a loud, mostly "smart casual" dressed crowd, and I found myself leaning over the table to enable conversation. Last year, mid-week, it was quiet. Our waitress, Julia, was articulate and very sweet. I ordered the Chicken Sorrentino, which was breaded chicken cutlets with breaded eggplant cutlets in an oily tomato sauce with de minimus infused veggies and melted mozzarella cheese on top. It came with a side dish and I chose the linguine (instead of potato/veggies), but asked for whatever sauce would come with the entrée (instead of marinara, etc.). My dish was delicious, but I became saturated after eating half of it (possibly from the oil or because the portions are so generous), so I took the other half home for another dinner. I purposely didn't order an appetizer to save a little space for dessert and coffee. That said, for starters, they put out complimentary but crude bruschetta for the four of us and they partially sliced about a six or eight inch piece of plain Italian bread in a rattan basket with pats of butter wrapped in foil. I often try the tiramisu for dessert, when available in Italian restaurants. I enjoyed theirs, despite its variant albino appearance (see photo) and flavor. The relative absence of cocoa or espresso initially made me feel as if I had ordered scotch and got a Shirley Temple, but it was still well prepared and went well with coffee.

Our waitress made us feel completely comfortable we were laughing, having side conversations, and genuinely enjoying ourselves all night. By the end of the evening, she even said, "Goodnight, love you!" and quickly laughed saying she didn't mean to say it. That pretty much summed up the vibe of the night friendly, relaxed, and memorable. The food was excellent from start to finish. I had the Caesar salad appetizer, which was very good, and my sister had the calamari, which she said was excellent. For our entrées, we both ordered the chicken parmesan with alavaca sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. To finish the night, we shared the crème brûlée for dessert, and it was the perfect treat. The portion is definitely big enough for two people, so I wouldn't recommend ordering one per person. The location is beautiful and right by the water true to the restaurant's name. The only small thing to note is the parking. There are two parking lots, and the first one is definitely the better option. The second lot leads closer to the waterfront entrance and can feel a little tight and snug when parking. Overall, we had an amazing time and would absolutely go back. The nachos had a generous amount of crumbled sausage cheese and bruschetta as well as some spicy peppers. We really enjoyed the nachos. The Picasso was a nice size, but the sandwich lacked a little seasoning and needed a little more balsamic. It felt kind of dry. For cocktails we got the strawberry lemon drop, it tasted a little medicinal and the cucumber lime spritz type drink(I can't recall the exact name). This one was very good. An overall very mixed experience but I want to give it another shot even if only for the nachos
