We went on a Saturday and had a great time. We did a tasting and gravitated toward the sweeter wines, which were enjoyable. We ended up purchasing their year-round Oktoberfest wine. If you prefer sweeter wines, this is a good spot for you. One thing to note is that they stop serving earlier than the posted closing time. At first, our server told us we only had 30 minutes for the tasting, so we felt a bit rushed. My husband asked again, and another staff member clarified that we actually had more time, which was a relief and allowed us to slow down and enjoy it. They provide breadsticks, and there are snacks available for purchase. I'm really looking forward to going back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor patio, which looks huge. The inside, however, felt smaller than expected. There are essentially two main rooms, plus a standing bar, a seated bar, a hallway with seating, and an exclusive members-only area.

We were able to gather in the lounge and go at our own pace. We stay here every time we return to the area. The rooms (recently updated) have always been big, very well appointed and pristine. It's incredibly quiet and parking is right there and always available. The best part is the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The last time we came, they took great pains to help us get a (very hard) reservation at the student-run restaurant in the same building. They are also very knowledgeable about the area. The really good breakfasts are served at whatever time you want, either directly to your room or in the very nice lounge right next to the rooms. Why stay at a much more expensive and impersonal hotel when you can have a relaxed and quiet visit and save a bunch of money at the same time?

It's a boutique hotel stay at a budget motor lodge price. We have stayed at Inn at Water's Edge twice, both times in a queen room. Each time our room was spacious and spotless. Furniture and fixtures are of clean modern lines, natural tones, and variations in texture: espresso, sandstone, ivory, black, silver, leather, metal, tweed, travertine, glass. Our rooms included not only a desk and upholstered chair, but also a sofa and two leather ottomans/tables. In some hotels the mere addition of the sofa/seating area would designate the room as a suite and bump up the cost significantly. WiFi and cable TV were available, of course. The large, well-appointed bathroom featured a generously-sized travertine walk-in shower and had the quietest toilet I've ever encountered. The furnishings are upscale and modern. I was smitten with the locally handcrafted organic French lavender & chamomile bar soap. The shampoo and conditioner were an eco-friendly line from Gilchrist & Soames, a provider of toiletries to upscale and luxury hotels worldwide. All rooms are located on the upper floor of the Culinary & Hospitality Center -- accessible by key only -- and have floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake next to The Mac. The view during our July stay was especially lovely as there were "islands" of flowers in bloom in the water. We had the surprising pleasure of watching a Great Blue Heron land and fish from one of the flower islands! Our November stay was more exciting than we bargained for. Our check out day happened to be the day of the tornado outbreak. I can assure you Inn at Water's Edge (& Waterleaf) have plans & procedures in place for your safety. Twice we were summoned by the alarm to ride out the threat on the first floor of the CHC. Glen Ellyn was, fortunately, spared that day. Many towns downstate were not so fortunate. One of my favorite parts of staying at the Inn is breakfast. There's an intimate lounge on the west end of the floor where the rooms are. You'll be treated to a continental breakfast plus. There is espresso, coffee, and a selection of teas. There is an assortment of fruit and pastries. There is housemade granola. But the most wonderful part of breakfast is the housemade yogurt. You have never had yogurt this good! In fact, I would book a room just so I can have the yogurt. With a bit of honey and some granola or fruit ... heaven! I can't praise the staff at the Inn enough. I've not encountered a more professional or friendly staff at any other hotel in any price range.They make you feel welcome. They make you feel special. They make you feel like you're getting away from it all even if, like us, you're a mere 5 miles from home. Fully and highly recommended.

We drove up and the propriatress was chatting with neighbors. She greeted us and when we asked if it was OK to take photos of the outside. . . she have us a tour of the inside! Wow, that was unexpected! Super warm and friendly owner, the Inn has many of it's original features including wood floors, lighting fixtures, coal burning fireplaces, stained glass, and more. It also boasts a beautiful new kitchen and glorious gardens including milk weed for the Monarch Butterflies which have been rapidly decreasing in numbers in recent years. So yay! She has a small shop of movie themed items and a museum cabinate of movie props. We were told about the filming pricess at the inn and told about plans for the gardens. Lori and George, the Innkeepers are very nice. The Inn is so fun. This is where Bill Murray's character in the movie stayed and the front looks exactly as it did in the movie. Lori gave us a map of the spots in town with marker's of sites from the movie, so we did that for a half day. The inn has a dining room where breakfast is served, there is the parlor with chairs for reading, or a sofa for watch Groundhog Day on the big screen. There is a small breakfast room with a refrigerator, coffee maker and snacks for the guests. There is one guest room downstairs and the others are located on the second floor. They even have a small gift shop area, where Mr. Bee bought a replica clock from the movie, it is permanently set to 6:00 am and the button on the top plays a portion of the radio show it played in the movie. We stayed in the Black Walnut Suite and it was extremely clean, and comfortable with 3 large windows that looked out over the front yard and the street just like in the film. Breakfast was good and plentiful. One morning we were the only guests so I told Lori the night before to take a day off and we would enjoy breakfast in the town square. I can't say enough great things about our stay. The front porch is awesome and fun to sit in the evenings with a glass of wine. The gardens and koi pond around the house are also stunning and beautifully lit in the evenings. There is parking off to the side of the driveway which is really convenient, or street parking. You can also easily walk into the town square from the Inn. We highly recommend checking out The Cherry Tree Inn for a fun weekend or even mid-week stay.

We got their at 3:11pm check in was 3pm - we got there and no parking for over 2 miles away from house on the side of a road in a sketchy area... We had no way of knowing about this until we arrived because their description was a lie and not detailed enough... They didn't say they had 6 rooms but only 3 parking spaces... We had 2 large suitcases, a large duffel bag. And a large cooler that they expected us to walk over 2 miles with to the house to check in... We never made it in the building - after about a half hour of calling and messaging with no response from owners we left to book another hotel over 20 minutes further and at another 200.00 in costs... we had no way to cancel the room backseat we couldn't get ahold of anyone so they said because we didn't cancel they are kept 80.00 of the 94.05 we paid to book the room stating well we said parking was first come first serve.... YEAH LESS THEN 24HRS BEFORE OUR RESERVATION WHEN IT WAS ALREADY TO LATE TO CANCEL THE ROOM.... SCAM SCAM SCAM WITH NO RESPONSE OWNERS STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOUSE - It completely ruined me from ever staying at a bed and breakfast and definitely check out all their other bad reviews...
