Manta Coffee Shop is a cute coffee house tucked away in a city of Azusa. They have good selection of coffee, teas, pastry and breakfast. Their outdoor Oasis like patio was very relaxing and peaceful. I came here as a first time customer. I ordered a Butter Croissant, Turkey Cheese Pesto and Peppermint Mocha Latte. Pastry was good as well as their Breakfast sandwich. The Latte was delightful. Indoor design and layout was contemporary and spacious, respectively. Staff was cordial and professional. Service was impeccable. Free Wi-Fi. They have free rear parking albeit limited but plenty of street parking out front. Prices were economically fair. Overall, I had a good dine-in experience and enjoyed my food and coffee. read more

This place looks like someone's house turned into a coffee shop. I had to double check the address when I couldn't find it initially but you're literally looking for a house. I came in and was greeted by some of the most friendly baristas. It's a cute looking shop with quite a bit of room. They have plenty of pastries to pick from. People started rolling in about 9:30 on Sunday so I assume it might get crowded. Plenty of room to study and looked like a lot college students came here to study. For the food I got some coffee and entrees which you can combo together for $1 off. Guava and Cheese Croissant - Absolute Banger. It's $6 so it's pricey but it's delicious. Inside has a lot of filling and works so well together. (5/5) Breakfast Burrito - It's okay, they were nice and split it in half on two separate plates. 50 cents for extra salsa. Salsa is a game changer and it's really good, most likely fresh. Burrito is pressed with what looks to be a panini press which made it crispy but the inside was lukewarm onward to the cold side. Personally for me I've had better and for $12 I would pass. Salsa is total win though. (3.5/5) Smores Latte - This was a seasonal drink and I got it iced. It's good and the marshmallows were toasted. I'm glad they were able to make it cute looking even iced. (4/5) Mele Kalikimaka Mocha - Another seasonal drink. Comes with drink art which was great. This was chocolatey goodness, it's solid. Minus 1 star for the mosquito issue: they really need to drain the front entrance mini water fountain or put some solution in it that prevents mosquitos from breeding in the water, a bad issue during summer and late summer. Also, a very unpleasant indoor experience because you'll bit so much sitting indoors or even outside too because of that water fountain! Besides that, the customer service is fantastic here. While they seem short staffed whenever I've ordered here, they do their best to accommodate the longer wait times for receiving your drinks, pastries, food, etc. The quality is still top notch even though there is longer wait times and the short staffed issue. I love getting the Nutella croissant and one of their flavorful, lightly sweet iced teas. Recommended spot to get work done on your laptop or a chill café for catching up with friends. I found out about this little hidden gem of a coffee shop from my friend! Location: it has a large sign on top of the building but it blends in very easily with its surroundings. They do not have their own parking lot but there are plenty of street parking all around if you don't mind walking a few mins. Ambiance: pretty quiet for a coffee shop. A lot of college students come here to study or do work. There are plenty of outlets around (inside and outside)! Plenty of seats but a lot of the tables are more meant for 1 person if you're planning on using laptops. Food: the drink selection is pretty standard but they do have seasonal drinks that alternate throughout the year. Latte art is on point and the drinks are not overly sweet. I had the seasonal ube latte and it had a slight coconut taste and not over sweet like other coffee shops. There are croissants available and they would toast them for you if you'd like I would highly recommend this place to mainly study or catch up on work. I was on a mission to get something for my son and that meant traveling to LA early in the AM. I love supporting local businesses so I found Mantra to stop and get some coffee and food. I initially passed it. luckily I was able to find a parking not that far from it. Parking is tricky since it's only street parking from what I saw. When I walked in it reminded me so much of coffee shops I use to go to in Portland. Loved the outdoor and indoor decor. The trees and plants make it feel so warm and inviting. I bet it also helps keep it somewhat cool during the hot days. They have local items for sale when you walk in to the right which looked so cute. Didn't have time to see because of my mission. Because I wasn't sure how long it was going to take, we ordered ahead. The food and drinks were ready by the time we got there. I ordered their Aztec latte. I love to try spicy drinks. It was really good. I would have never thought to use mini chili's to do a drink like this. I think my only feedback would be to either blend the chili's a bit more or strain them. There were a few times I got some big ones. I also got their guava cheese croissant. So good. Maybe a little to much filling but that might just be a me thing. From the kindness, warmth, and helpfulness of staff to the artisan crafts available for purchase, and of course the bevvies... this spot was a great choice! There is plenty of seating available, ample outlets, strong and steady wifi, and a relatively quiet ambience - so this is definitely a good place to stay and get some remote work done at. What a whimsical coffee spot - hidden away from the world, it's like stepping into a secret garden of sorts haha! Service was so friendly and they have quite a large menu and wide selection of food too. Met a lovely Yelp friend for a coffee/brunch date and what a cute little spot! It's located on a very busy street but it's so tucked away you don't notice. And the vibe and decor transport you to another world once you get through the gate! You're greeting with a lovely courtyard, complete with bubbling fountain and lots of cozy little nooks and crannies to sit and chat in. But inside is where the real magic is!! The colorful, artsy tiles on the floor along with the stained glass windows and various seating arrangements create the coziest place to relax, work, or just chat to a friend. I definitely walked away with some decoration inspiration for my own house lol! My friend got the Olive Oil Cake and Rose Matcha seasonal drink. I tried a bite of the cake and it was nice - very similar to a pan de Elote but with a very sweet icing. I liked it. She said her rose matcha was not her fave - the matcha is powdery and gritty. I got the seasonal honey lavender latte with a ham and cheese croissant. The honey lavender latte was just ok - it had a decent amount of sweetness and creaminess, but the lavender flavor was pretty much nonexistent so I was kinda bummed about that. My ham and cheese croissant was a tad dry but had a good flavor and they use quality meat. The staff behind the counter were extremely friendly and welcoming. There is Mantra merch for sale on the wall, as well as a little "store" of sorts in one corner that showcases pieces and wares from local artists which I thought was nice. They also have a little "free library" inside - very fun! Their prices are a tad high, but not that much different from the surrounding area nowadays. It's close to APU so lots of students around and can get busy. I only saw street parking available - out front and around the corner. Sitting outside would be a bit noisy with the traffic but inside I didn't notice it. Also - they have an upstairs area that they rent out via AirBnB. Go try it! Hard to find, but worth the extra work. We were nearby and found this little gem on yelp. The coffee was tasty and the sugar treat did the trick!! We tried the pumpkin cold-foam and now I'm hooked! We live a bit far to go often, but I want to go back just for more. Plenty of inside and outdoor seating. Their lattes are so good but gets kind of pricey if you get it with a flavor and a different milk substitution. My iced vanilla latte was ($6.40) I found this place awhile ago and became hooked on their iced vanilla latte. Not too sweet and not too bitter. If you get it with oat milk, there's more of a nutty creamy flavor. If you get it with whole milk, it's more smooth. I personally like it more with whole milk. There's plenty of seating inside and also outside. The parking though... can be tough since it's only street parking with no a big parking lot. The place can be hard to find too so make sure to slow down once you've made the turn onto San Gabriel Ave. Definitely my go to spot whenever I'm craving coffee! read more

I found this cafe on yelp since I was trying to be find a new ambiance to write my college essays at since my house had too many people. #4 in my SOCAL COFFEE SHOP SERIES Out of the places I have been to so far, this is my favorite! Great workability vibes, super cute aesthetic, lots of spaces to study/work, open late, delicious coffee, and fantastic philosophy! Mantra is a social enterprise that donates 51% of their proceeds to local and global community development through education and scholarship. They are open late hours for the community and students. And they have a really cool glass re-use program! You can bring in your own cup or use one of theirs to minimize paper/plastic cup products :) When I went, the workers that helped me were super friendly and nice. For my drink I decided to get the seasonal pumpkin spice mocha w/ oat milk & a super seed cookie (total $11). The mocha was delicious! Very subtle tastes but great espresso. And I loved the super seed cookie! The pricing of everything is very fair/standard and they have a good selection to choose from (classics and seasonals). I just recently moved down here from NorCal and was searching on Yelp for coffee shops in the area. This coffee shop appears to be the most popular one around so I decided to give this shop a try. I came on a night where they had a local artist playing music out on the patio. Which was nice. I ask the barista what she recommended and she said the chai latte. I decided to get a dirty chai latte which means an added espresso shot. The dirty chai was great. The coffeeshop has a bright interior with colorful artsy tile flooring and warm lighting. There's also a luscious courtyard patio to the side and out front. With plentiful seating, I loved everything about the shop's interior design and decor. The drinks - not nearly as much. I ordered the matcha rose, one of their seasonal drinks. I was pretty disappointed with it, as the matcha tasted gritty and powdery. I did however enjoy my friend's honey lavendar latte. The lavender was subtle and the espresso was smooth. Parking easy and street side Staple variety of teas and coffees. A little pricier than most places, although honestly they don't have much competition in the area- so worth it if needing to be in Azusa. My friend and I were looking for a coffee shop to meet up at, and I remembered Mantra Coffee & BnB having a Yelp Elite event a few months back. Prior to arriving, I read a few Yelp reviews and what to expect when arriving and I had the same exact experience. It is a house that has been converted to a coffee shop and BnB. From the pictures, it does not do it justice, the space for the coffee shop is bigger than I had imagined. The lower level and the exterior were for the coffee shop, which were both spacious and modern. Outside seating had a few shady areas and there were also sail shades set up. It still got pretty warm for a 90+ degree afternoon, but we were able to enjoy our coffee for a few hours before it got too hot for us. Honey Lavender Latte (Seasonal drink) Decaf Latte Service was a bit slow when we arrived, because there was only one person working the register and preparing the orders (coffee and etc.). I am not one for flower flavored items, but decided to try the Honey Lavender Latte on their seasonal menu. The lavender was not overpowering, and not much of a note there. I felt the honey was a bit too sweet and overpowered the lavender. It was still good, but I would probably opt for just the latte and save myself $2+ instead next time. I also ordered a hot decaf latte for a family member when I left and they really enjoyed it. Most places do not do decaf well, basically tastes like really watered down espresso, but this is a #2 on our list for decaf! Overall, good service and a nice, homey environment to meet up with friends or a study buddy. As some reviewers mentioned, with APU nearby and etc., there are students who come here to study. They also have some items for sale in the corner, right of the door. It is a great way to showcase local talent! Very cute indie coffee shop that you might miss (it's literally built inside a house!). Quaint and cozy, queer safe place. I'm critical when it comes to good study space - the few charging ports they have are always busy but it's a good place to sit and talk with company if you aren't fussy about getting work done. The music volume is perfect and on the lower side which is so nice when you're just waking up on a cold morning. They promote local vendors/artists inside as well which is so neat! I'm pretty dialed into the Matcha Latte community and have high expectations. I ordered a vanilla matcha latte with oatmilk and was disappointed to see the color was dull and the flavor was only sweetened milk. $8 for a glass of milk makes me :(. One of my favorite coffee places in the whole greater LA area. It's a BnB and coffee shop inside of a cute little house. The vibe is chill, there's plenty of seating, and the staff is usually super nice. I like to sit here to read. During the school year, it's packed with students. There are few to no outlets the last time I checked, so be advised. They make everything they serve fresh. The baked goods are prone to selling out. The syrups tend to have great flavor without being too sweet or too rich. I love that oat milk doesn't cost extra, especially for dairy sensitive people like me. read more

There's plenty of seating inside or outside, so take your pick. There's shaded seats on the porch and some umbrella covered seats in the front yard. I ordered an iced lavender latte ($6), lavender being a seasonal flavor ($1 additional cost on top of the $5 latte). The iced latte is 16 oz and if you are enjoying your drink there, they put it in a glass container, which I love because I am already so sick of those plastic to-go cups! If you order any of their pastries, they also serve it on an actual plate (with the option of having it warmed up or not)! Coming in again, you see this really modern/ cozy space and it looks like a house on the inside or outside. Mocha Latte- They make this awesome drink in the house and the mocha is homemade not the ones you get in the simple syrup or the pump. I like how it is not super sweet and you are able to just relax and drink it. What is cool too is that you could taste the coffee flavor and not just taste like cold chocolate. Would recommend and it is my personal favorite. Vanilla Latte- I really like this one too. It taste really light and you get a feel of Vanilla and coffee. I like how you really can taste vanilla flavors that go past this world! Recommend also. Overall I really enjoy this place a lot. They use a lot of natural light and not blast the regular light. I feel I could literally study there for hours. And customer service is definitely great. They are very patient and will tend to what you want so just ask them what is recommended because who knows, you might like what you get because I like what I got! Recommended to study and chill here and if you do not like being outside they also have the outdoor too. This place can easily be missed since it blends with the houses around the neighborhood, so make sure to drive by slowly when you arrive around here! Walking in, it was definitely nice, quiet, and very peaceful. I ordered an ice latte and my friend ordered a hot latte as we dined in and chatted for a bit over coffee. There were other people here as well and it was definitely super quiet since they were all working on there own things, so we were only really the chatters of the cafe LOL. The ambiance and the mood of this place is very chill and peaceful. I honestly enjoyed the ambiance and vibe of the place more than the coffee actually. The iced latte I ordered was pretty decent, but also not one of best ones I had. The men at the counter were also all really nice as well. Great service! read more
