I was on the area this morning and decided to try Rad Coffee, that came up on my map instead of the usual coffee chain. It looked pretty cool and the drink menu was interesting. I walked in, only one person in there, no greeting from the two staff members present. I took a minute to look at the menu because this was my first time. I mentioned that to the cashier, and there was literally no comment, I guess I was kind of expecting a "welcome" or "thanks for trying us out", she just looked at me. I asked what was in a specific listed menu item and she obliged. The drink was made pretty quick and they called my name when it was ready, I walked up and said, thank you and again the woman who made the drink, literally just turned her back and walked away. Needless to say, I would never come back to this location again. It's funny because I looked at the reviews and some people say all the customer services is awesome, so I don't know if it's Monday Blues, or what the situation is but even my daughter who was with me, said thank you when we were leaving and again no response. She literally told me "I said it just to see if they would respond after I heard you say thank you", and there was no response. We gave them several opportunities, with no response. That's too bad, my first impression was really bad from the service staff. I got the Mood Changer espresso, drink, iced. It had a good flavor, but a little on the sweet side, I prefer to taste more of a coffee myself. Standard coffee shop with some interesting sounding drinks, serving coffees and teas. Parking is street-side. Decor is quite cool, and trendy- love the ambiance. Staff were efficient. I came to try one of their Unique coffee creations, so landed on their Frappe's (blended coffees), as their standard coffees were standard. Their Peanut Butter crunch had a protein-powder taste that wasn't as peanut butter forward as I hoped (reminded me of PBFit added), but I did enjoy their coffee strength in it. I was hoping the "crunch" would include crushed peanuts not just relying on cereal topping (which I elected to remove, thus I suppose became crunch-less). Their Cinnamon Toast coffee was well flavored and a better choice, also with a good amount of coffee and avoided being overly sweet. Overall some good and bad. I stopped by RAD Coffee in Covina first thing in the morning and had a great experience. I ordered the Meltdown latte, which is made with vanilla and caramel. It was really good not overly sweet and you could still taste the coffee, which I always appreciate. Since I went early, parking was easy to find. It's located in the downtown area though, so I think parking can get pretty difficult later in the day. The customer service was friendly, and I got my drink quickly. Stumbled on this fantastically eclectic coffee shop completely by accident, and am so grateful. After much contemplation because everything sounded so good, I decided on their Coffee Break (one of the specials in April) to try. Never thought espresso and peanut butter would blend so well together, but it does! I also really appreciate that this was flavorful but not overwhelmingly sweet. I've only visited Rad Coffee maybe 2x total. I always drive by it and should probably make more trips here. The location is in downtown Covina and parking is available out front, but there's a big lot behind the building. I always love their logo and decor inside the coffee shop. They have a wide variety of coffee and specialty drinks on their menu. They offer build your own drink options and cereal chiller drinks. Not to mention, seasonal and/or monthly drinks. The staff here have been cool each time I have visited. They are friendly and work efficiently fast. The location has so much to offer. They have merch, mugs, and sweets to grab if you have a craving. The aesthetics are very unique and during Halloween time they deck the whole place. The cool part of Rad Coffee is they have pinball machines to play in the back of the location. As far as the drinks. They are delicious. I needed some coffee so I went with the Salty Caramel with oat milk. The drink was ready in about 2-3 minutes. The drink has good level of sweetness and the right amount of caffeine. Not busy. Two young ladies behind the counter. I order a small black coffee--coffee as it was meant to be, black as my soul. My son asks where the bathroom is. Their response? "We don't have a public bathroom. He can walk to Taco Bell if he needs to go." WTF? A COFFEE SHOP WITHOUT A BATHROOM? I mean, did anyone think this through? Coffee is a mild diuretic. People drinking it sometimes have to pee. Apparently, this groundbreaking concept escaped the business plan. How exactly do you expect people to sit around sipping your coffee when the inevitable happens? "Thanks for the latte! Now please go wander the neighborhood looking for a bathroom." I've seen rad coffee on IG for a while now and have finally made my way to trying it. Ordered the Spanish latte and enjoyed it. We asked for less sweet and I would honestly order it again. We were pleasantly surprised with the pin ball machines in the back! They had a nice collection of them and I was glad they had a machine where we could get change. I will say that it did feel odd inside with amount of random things you could buy, from stickers to mugs, sweaters to other snacks, and more. Like maybe there used to be tables and chairs inside? But they replaced it with all the stuff they're trying to sell. The placement of the merch stuff makes it so awkward, almost like someone just said hey let's just set all this stuff up and see if it sells without considering flow. Idk. Kind of a shame, I would have considered working on my laptop there if that meant I'd be able to take breaks and lose all my dollar bills to the pin ball machines with a cup of Spanish latte. I wanted to give this small coffee shop a try and support a local business, but unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. When I walked in, the three baristas were busy having a conversation. None of them acknowledged me or even greeted me. I stood there waiting while they finished talking before anyone helped me, which made me feel completely ignored. The coffee was even more disappointing. It tasted watered down, barely had any milk, and looked nothing like what was described on the menu. It honestly felt like very little effort went into making it. To make matters worse, the prices are on the higher side, which would be fine if the quality matched, but it simply doesn't. As much as I prefer supporting local coffee shops over large chains, I'd honestly recommend going to Starbucks instead. I always like the atmosphere inside Rad Coffee with the rock music and spooky theme. The staff are always friendly and nice. The pinball machines in the back are fun! They must have them on rotation because I don't recall the Jurassic Park one from my last visit. They even have a change machine! Although this visit the machine wouldn't take my dollar. Good- I showed up on Sunday around noon and the cafe inside looks very cool. They know what vibe they're going for and always pull that punk rock/rockabilly ambiance well. Also, the young lady that made my drink was very kind and accommodating to change my drink last min, I originally asked for one of the Spanish lattes to be with oat and later asked to change it to soy, and she was very gracious in accommodating with no issues. Thank you to her. Bad- my Spanish latte I ordered was intended to be in a large. The lady that took my order either didn't hear me correctly, or I misspoke (possible that I didn't say the size). That's entirely fine and ok for those to happen. We're human and mistakes happen. What's not ok, is when I kindly say "I'm sorry, but didn't I order one of these lattes to be large? I might have misspoke" is for her to respond "Oh no you didn't, sorry about that" and walk away. To be specific, her tone wasn't mean, but she was dismissive and had absolutely no interest in helping me make the drink the way I preferred, especially since that's basically her job. She could have easily said "I'd have to charge you for the larger size, if I do remake" and I'd be entirely ok with that, and the right thing to do. Her "bare minimum" attitude and disregard to help me is something I hope Rad doesn't intend support. Also, my drink was made wrong. My girlfriend's drink was made right with half the sweetness. Rad space, almost Rad menu, & some work to get a more Rad staff perhaps... Great specialty menus for holidays, with a lot of Pumpkin options for Halloween for example! Menu itself has some staple sweet drinks, along with the traditional espresso based, and even fun "Frappe" type drink options... the big problem is, their staple specialty drinks all come in a THIRTY TWO OUNCE option as a base. If you attempt to deviate from that insane "7-Eleven Big Gulp" volume, apparently they have no choice but to literally remove the Cold Brew element from the drink entirely-which imo, completely changes the drink and its intended flavor composition. So, after being told that they literally didn't have any option to sell the drink at a reasonable size without taking out the cold brew, I had to order the 16oz specialty "Great White" without the cold brew, told her to fill it half way (which she did not by the way) and then ordered an entire Cold Brew separately without ice...... then proceeded to go outside and add the cold brew to make the drink as intended (with cold brew) since the staff refused to do it. Service was, shall we say, terse.. I thought it was a bit ridiculous to only offer a drink as a 32oz, and asked the barista if many others had voiced similar thoughts, which she rudely responded "Nope! You're pretty much the only one!" with a clear attitude. Not accommodating, and even failed to follow instructions with drink prep. Perhaps some extra customer service training from management (or upper management) could help. Very cool Arcade in back, with skater vibes in merch and apparel-love that ethos-though that chill atmosphere not represented by staff very well unfortunately. With an ALMOST cool menu, but not the friendliest staff or much in the way of making or ordering the drinks the way you'd like-or expect-it's a definite "maybe" on trying this otherwise would-be cool spot. Hopefully they'll address the lack in customer service, and the need to make logical adjustments to menu items sometime in the near future. I won't swear this place off, as there's lots of room for attitude adjustment and improvements. I'll look forward to coming back to hopefully see some RAD improvements! read more

It took me a second to get here over the years. Not sure why but glad I stopped in tonight. Came in and grabbed a matcha latte on this chilly night. Matcha was not too sweet with a slight taste of vanilla and I had it with oatmilk. Taste was pure and not artificial with any sweeteners like those big chain coffee shops. Staff was helpful and friendly. There are all sorts of branded Rad Coffee stickers available for purchase as well as merchandise from T-shirt's to caps and packages of coffee and even keurig pods! I'll be back to try some of their cereal killers blended drinks and maybe purchase some coffee beans to make at home. Although I'd rather have them make my coffee lol. This cafe is nice and it's cool for anybody to experience as a first time. I don't have pictures of the drinks, but they did have a variety of unique drinks that range from refreshers, frappes, coffees, etc. This cafe is also very artsy, they have nice art on the wall, merch, and even cool retro games to play. However, I do wish this place had a dine in or outdoor dine out as well at least, it's more of a get and go type of cafe where you can walk around and look at the atmosphere and the vibes are cool too as well. Rad Coffee has been on my "to try" list for quite awhile now, but I did not get a chance to stop by until one morning after an appointment. This Rad Coffee location is located in Downtown Covina, and if I remember correctly, this location used to be a Starbucks years ago. I parked in one of the parking spots along Citrus and used the crosswalk to cross at College St. There were a few people sitting (with their own chairs) outside of Rad Coffee and a few customers here and there on a weekday morning. For such a "large" location, there are no tables/seats anywhere. If you want to "linger" to catch up with friends or family, there are a few pinball machines, but other than that, it is a grab and go type of place. Mocha (hot) 16-oz. I usually do not order Mochas, but I figured why not. When I visit a coffee shop for the first time, I like to order a signature drink, but most of the drinks were definitely out of my price range. The Mocha tasted great, but it was not amazing, mind-blowing. It was not overly sweet and had a great balance. I know Rad Coffee is more well-known for their sweet, cold coffee drinks, but I am not usually a fan of those. Like another Yelper mentioned, there are old school punk vibes, and there are show notifications plastered all over the walls. Customer service is okay and coffee is good. The store has a great theme of classic monsters with a mix of punk rock. Highly recommend trying their specialty drinks - which all have the most creative names. I ordered the cinnamon toast cereal chiller. First of all, the presentation was beautiful and loved everything Halloween single sip of it. It had a bit of an horchata flavor but with a bit of caffeine and some cereal in it. One of my favorites - can't wait to go back and try more flavors! Had a coffee date and he chose this spot. I was glad he chose this spot because I have been to the one in Upland and I really enjoyed their drinks. The Matcha peppermint was delicious until everything melts down and it's hard to drink because the Oreos were in big chunks. I think my date had the same issue with the cinnamon toast crunch cereal getting in the way. But if you take off the lid and grab a spoon and get the bits and chunks that are in the bottom, it taste delicious. The only downside is there are no places to sit to enjoy your drink. There are only a few benches outside. However, you can take it with you as you walk downtown. After 30 minutes, I noticed very light dripping from its corner bottom. I recommend quickly finishing the brew or doubling up cups. Service: They are open Thanksgiving Day.
