The shop has changed its name to FAUSTO SHOE REPAIR. Poor Manuel has succumbed to Covid last year. Fausto has since taken over the shop and has been doing a wonderful job on my shoes. The only issue I have is I was repeatedly harassed to pay cash rather than Credit Card (once when I dropped them off (you have to pay a deposit) and then again when I picked them up to pay the balance. I just want to say I love these guys. This is now my second time bringing in shoes to be repaired. my first trip was with a pair of water damaged suede type women's boots for my wife. They died them a slightly darker color and cleaned up all the water damage to save a show that was otherwise garbage. My second time in I brought two pairs of boots. One women's pair needed a new zipper, glued soles, and some leather repair. Again, my wife is tough on her shoes and when she loves a pair, i want to try to save them. I had three pairs of suede boots that were beyond dirty with the heels work down all the way, but after the fix up all the boots looked good as new. They even replaced the bottom of the shoes. All in all, would def go back to get more shoes worked on. I walked in on a Friday afternoon with my dog and we were both greeted with smiles and he invited my pup to play with his who was also in the store. I showed him three pairs of very tattered heels. Really good! Amazing in that I could get my campers soled here. 1. Pue cami. Had these resoled and they are totally usable. They are no longer as comfortable. The bottom looks weird (just a little rubber sole at the back) but totally fine. Conclusion: would do it again. $35. 2. Camper boots. Had these resoled with rubber and it's very good. Again - not as comfortable as before, but doubling the life of $200 shoes for only $55 - and they still feel very comfortable - was totally worth it. Conclusion: worth it. read more

The quality of the service here is excellent, given what appears to be an overall deterioration of skill in this trade. I like hand made English and Italian shoes, however leather soles are not always practical. I've had vibram (and rubber) soles put on several pairs of shoes (new and old) and the quality of workmanship is so high that it's hard to believe that the work was done in a neighborhood shoe repair shop! I am so glad that I found a local shoe repair place that is close by, but most importantly: they are really good. I am very sensitive when it comes down to treating my shoes. The pressure was also on me when I convinced my girlfriend to cover the sole of her two new pairs of shoes. So I gave Manuel a pair of Valentino sandals and heels. I gave my John Varvatos boots and Paul Smith Loafers. Result was great. No apparent damage or mistreatment to the actual shoes. The new soles are great. Manuel did a great job. I'm pretty disappointed in the workmanship on a pair of relatively expensive Coach boots I brought in to have a vibram sole added. Manuel mentioned he'd fix the covering on the heel too because they were pretty banged up. To my surprise and dismay when I picked up my shoes this morning, the heel was repainted a different, darker color which I did not ask for and it essentially changed the look of the boots. They were previously a more natural medium color. There's paint spots on the suede so between that and the color change, I'm not a very happy camper. One star because the vibram part is ok. I'm glad these shoes were my test pair because I will not be returning. read more

I read good reviews on Manuel shoe repair which led me to try him out. This shoemaker knows his craft. I brought in low suede boot/shoes which had a tear -( seems like a manufacturer flaw ) near the seam of the sole and the upper part of the shoe. I really was skeptical about the repair, figuring I would feel the leather patch placed on the inside. This was not the case. Its a smooth and artfully crafted patch and I can't feel it from the inside - I actually don't know how he did this. I had two pairs of very good italian loafers repaired for a price point which was lower than getting one pair repaired at shops around midtown (all of which have yelp ratings of 3.5 or below...). One pair needed complete re-sole, the other needed stitching as the bottom had detatched. 3 day turnaround and upon pick up my shoes were perfectly shined and their shapes restored. 6-year old shoes looking almost anew, except with inevitable wrinkles from wear.
