I love love love this place! They cleaned my luxury bags, my Tiffany one was suede and my Chanel one had stain transfer from my clothes. They both came out looking brand new. They added new soles to all my Burberry flats; each for about $60 ... these flats are over $400 and I've had them since 2008. Today I picked up my black suede Birkenstocks that needed a touchup. It only cost me $25! I have been coming here for about 7 years and am very satisfied with their work. I recommend them for anything you need fixed! read more

Let me start off by saying I used to go here a few times a month for a shoe shine. It was always quick, cheap, and a good shine. I loved going here, it was convenient. Now, I dropped off some shoes for a repair recently due to some water damage that made the leather crack. I was told they'd be ready in 2 days, I went back they weren't ready. The following week the owner patched both pairs from the inside, one pair looked great the other was still a little cracked. I asked him what could be done and he said he could put 1 or 2 stiches in the outside. He went in the back stitched it up. He brought it back and it had over 15 holes from the stitching. It looked like a kindergartner drew on the damn thing with a sewing machine. When I asked him what he did he said, 'you tell me stitch, I stitch.' I told him I wasn't happy, that it looked worse than when I brought it in and he said there was nothing he could do and promptly took the money I had on the counter. I told him I didn't want to pay for that particular shoe and he said he'd worked for it and was keeping the money. He then proceed to antagonize me: 'be careful, everyone gonna look at your shoe and see the stitching and think it look really bad' Horrible customer service, terrible attitude, and really poor work... read more

I really was a fan of the nice old man who runs this place upon my first time coming here. I was on a quest to find a place that would rejuvenate all pump and stilletto heels that had seen their better days years ago and yet were still being worn!? Why I dont know I get very attached.. Anyways having dropped by a number of places to get price quotes on heel tips I found that Olympic truly does have a great price and the quality is top notch. They have a very quick turn around for easy repairs such as this and they only charged a few extra bucks to totally restore the chewed up leather (faux leather!??) going up the heel that was so mangy... When I got them back I audibly gasped as I was so thrilled that I had my cozy old shoes back to strutting condition again. Ok so here is where I have been let down... I feel like they are constantly telling you what else you need to have done and it can add up real quick. I have to kindly say no thank you no thank you to each suggestion as those repairs are honestly not worth the price of my original shoe... I invested in a very nice pair of ballet flats and knew that their original bottoms would get destroyed on the streets of new york in a *hot* new york minute. I went in to ask about re-soling them with a very cheap yet long lasting durable rubber sole.... $40 bucks. Another visit, I asked them how much to replace a broken zipper on a pair of boots, this is my third zipper cracked in three years!! What am I doing wrong here.. I must be hitting the streets of this city too hard I guess?? A waste of money and time! I took a boot there to replace the zipper which they happily did for $40.00. As soon as i got home and put the boot on and zipped it up, the zipper opened up on me. Surly old man was rude from the moment I walked in. I was told they did excellent work with red soles. He showed me pinkish and burgundy soles and was very dismissive of me. I thought maybe there was a language issue. So I smiled and told him he'd come highly recommended. Then I gently asked of he had the Louboutin ones. He practically kicked me out. I told him to have a nice day and left. On Yelp, I found another excellent shoe repair shop in Chelsea that did an amazing in just a couple of hours. It was worth the trip. I've been going here for years. They do an excellent job: in fact a brought a pair from a place in DC, one of their best places, and he not only repaired them but explained why their soles had fallen off. The soles I've had him do have been durable. While he may be curt sometimes I think this is actually his effort to manage expectations. I've never had something come out unexpectedly. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE experience; I gave them a premium branded belt to fix (the two pieces of leather were coming apart, thereby requiring an adhesive to glue it together). After initially telling me that the belt would be done after two days, the belt ultimately was "done" after two weeks (where I went into the store numerous times to see if the belt was done). The owner ultimately ripped by belt apart in front of my eyes when I expressed my disatisfaction with the product...below is the full story. He gave me the belt after the first week and did a shoddy job (parts of the belt were not glued together)... Finally, after the second week, he gave me the belt where the two pieces of leather weren't even aligned but glued together! The manager grabbed the belt from me and ripped the two pieces of leather APART after I brought to his attention that it was not aligned!!!! Very temperamental and unprofessional manager. I will be reporting these guys to the Better Business Bureau as well; consumers beware. read more

This shoe repair establishment was recommended to me by the cleaners down the block...I needed my Louis Vitton purse re sewn near the zipper. They confirmed they could do it and told me to come back in a few days...a few days turned into three weeks and the older man there was rude about it like it was my fault it was delayed. Long story short when I received my purse back I saw they GLUED my purse together and not sown it together as requested...I could have glued it myself. Waste of money and bad customer service. I discovered this place years ago when I used to work nearby. I have not worked in that neighborhood in 7 yrs and this store is the ONLY place I will bring my shoes. I have tried other places near where I live (Gramercy) and have had horrible results. Since then the ONLY place I will bring my shoes is to this store. The owner is this sweet, old Greek guy and the service/quality they provide is AWESOME. Also, I really like that he will tell you "no that's not possible because of the material" or whatever, because he is honest. He doesnt just take your money for something he knows can't be fixed. He only fixes what he knows he can fix and the results are perfection! Or if you ask for something out of the ordinary to be done, he'll warn you that he will try (with a specialty item/repair) and do his best. Good service, good quality of results, and integrity. Please, please don't EVER take your shoes to this shop to have them repaired. I brought in an expensive pair of women's flats to have the rubber portion of the heel removed (the back edge of the heel was rubber, the front of the heel was leather). It was literally a repair that involved replacing an inch of tan rubber with an new inch of tan rubber. When I went to pick up the shoes, the entire heel had been torn off and replaced with an inch thick black rubber sole. When I mentioned to the owner that this wasn't at all what I had expected, he told me that it was my fault because I hadn't specified that I wanted the shoe to be repaired to look as it had when the shoe was brought in. I mean, really? I asked him if he could repair it to change it to a tan sole, left the shop, had second thoughts and walked back in to pick up the shoes in order to take them somewhere else. In that time he had then torn the black sole off, leaving nothing but exposed adhesive on the bottom of the shoe. He told me to take my shoes and get out of his store. He threw them in a plastic bag, with no heels, no nothing, exposed adhesive and all and told me that he didn't want my business.... after he ruined my shoes. Honestly, I am a very calm person and wasn't making any sort of scene or being rude at all. The guy is really a total jerk and clearly does not care about customer satisfaction. I have never written a review on yelp, but was compelled to do so because of my horrible experience at Olympic. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I went here to get the zippers on a pair of sandals replaced. They said they could do it and to come back in a week. I came back two weeks later because I had been out of town and my shoes weren't ready. I didn't make a big deal of this and came back a few days later. I brought the shoes home and noticed that one of the straps wasn't attached to the sandal. I dropped off the shoes the next day and picked them up two weeks later. The next day I went to wear them and the zipper came completely off as I was zipping the back up. Upon further inspection, I saw that they hadn't put zipper stoppers on so I brought them back again. I picked up the sandals a week later and when I compared the two, I noticed that they had used completely different colored stops on each sandal. This wasn't a huge problem but I thought it was sloppy so I asked them to fix it. The man at the counter was incredibly rude and acted like he didn't understand the problem. When it finally clicked he said they'd fix it but I'd have to wait A MONTH! I said if that was the case I'd like my money back and he proceeded to yell at me saying that they'd already spent 10 hours on my shoes and would not give me a refund. When he finally calmed down he agreed to fix them sooner. I came home having just picked up my sandals and as I was going to put them on, one of the zipper stops just came off completely! I am beyond frustrated and don't even want to bring the shoe back since it's apparently impossible to get a zipper replaced correctly. This place is staffed with incompetent people who shouldn't be in the shoe repair business. I am very disappointed and strongly recommend avoiding this place. read more

They did a beautiful job resoling and cleaning up my Chanel ballet. I think the person below doesn't know her shoes well enough to communicate what she wanted. THEY RUINED MY CHANEL SHOES. I dropped off my Chanel ballet flats for new soles and heels. The shoes have light beige bottoms, so, of course, that's what I expected. When I picked up my shoes I could not believe what they did - they decided to PAINT THE BOTTOMS OF THE SHOES BLACK and put black heels and soles on the shoes. Why? because the owner said HE THOUGHT IT WOULD LOOK BETTER. Are you kidding me? The black paint got all over the cream leather of shoe - so they are not wearable. They are a sloppy mess. WHEN I COMPLAINED THAT THE BLACK PAINT GOT ON THE CREAM LEATHER, HE SAID "THAT'S WHAT THEY WOULD LOOK LIKE IF YOU WORE THEM OUTSIDE FOR AN HOUR". I went to Chanel and they refused to fix them bc they are no longer considered "authentic" once another person fixes them. I've been going to these shoe guys since they were in the World Trade Center. They were great then and still are. I learned how to really do a good job of leather dying from them and now do all my own shoes, bags and coats. They have done a great job with simple repairs and have done very well with more challenging repairs I've brought to them. The "older guy", as someone called him, is quite honest about what they can do and can't. So listen to him! They are my go-to guys and and as far as I'm concerned, every bit as good as Hector's, if not better. Maybe this is not the place for highest-end designer shoes and their highest-end repairs. Also, I realized after paying, unfortunately, that 1: they didn't make one of the repairs that I requested and 2: they had charged $8 for a shoe shine that I did not request (the added charge was why I didn't initially notice one of the shoes hadn't been resoled. Further, they badly scuffed one pair of shoes when resoling. Rather than putting the customer first, the owner was extremely nasty, the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I have been using Olympic Shoe Repair for more than three years without mishap. It's close to work so I can do drops and pickups at lunch. It's kind of messy in there but they seemed to do an OK job for a reasonable price. Last week I dropped two pairs of boots and a pair of pumps off on Thursday. Guy behind the counter says they'll be ready Wednesday. Wednesday I go in at lunchtime, there's 10 minutes of searching and then I'm told they aren't ready. I said I'd come back after work. I leave work too late to make it so I go in this morning before work, confident I can make a 9:00 meeting. It takes 30 minutes to locate my shoes. The pumps are done, the boots are not. I say I'm going to take them elsewhere. Guy behind the counter yells at me. He says "I don't care about you or your shoes." I will never use this place again and I would strongly discourage anyone else from using it. OK, end of rant. read more
