Bright and airy and welcoming shop on Punahou Street with their own parking lot, below King Street, just past Jack-in-the-Box, across from Washington Middle School. Frustrating that sizes run out so quickly with the release of a new design. Still, I go down and hope to find what I want/need. Some of the designs are really intricate in great colors. I needed a dress for an upcoming event and I've always seen such pretty dresses from this place so I thought I'd give it a try. I went on a Sunday morning as soon as they opened. There were already a few other ladies shopping around. As a browsed around the store I noticed the other associates helping the other customers and starting dressing rooms for them. However, as I was looking around no associate acknowledged me. Mind you, there were at least 3 associates on the floor and the store is very small. I held two pieces of clothing in my hand as I walked around but still no help. When I finally decided to try on, I had to approach an associate and all she did was yell from the register, "yes any open room!" and continue her conversation with another worker. I felt very unwelcomed, and slightly discriminated against since all the other customers seemed to be receiving excellent service. I will not be returning here. read more

This is the go-to place for locals to get their aloha attire spending on. They come out with different collections every couple months, so the prints and styles will depend on which collection is being sold at the time you go. They just came out with a new collection TODAY, which means they have a bit more variety since the older collections haven't sold out. However, it seems like they sell until they sell out, so if you like an older collection and they don't have your size, you're out of luck. The collections themselves are all beautiful, all the time. They're colorful and subtle "hawaiian" prints. The styles include basic styles to more modern cuts. In general, it's a more boxy, so pretty much everyone looks good. They also kind of specialize in women's' clothing, but they also carry men's shirts and children's attire. This location compared to the kailua location has more selection and it might be just a tad bit bigger. Parking is definitely an issue here, rather than at the kailua location though. The sales people here are nice and welcoming. The "fitting rooms" are a tad bit revealing. I wasn't very comfortable stripping down when the curtain that separates the rooms was a little see through in one area. And you're gonna wanna try on these dresses before you buy them. They're a bit of an investment. read more

Love the line of clothes and patterns. Lori and the other ladies at the Punahou store were more than helpful to coordinate outfitting our entire family with one color scheme, various sizes and styles so we would be ready for my fathers funeral. They bent over backwards with holding items for us at the Kailua store and even took time to FaceTime family members In the mainland so we could buy their outfits. read more

Beautiful prints and fabrics but LACKS good customer service. I agree with the person who said they have a very condescending attitude. I bought similar prints for our whole family but had to exchange my son's shirt(he's very particular). At the end, I had a $10 credit. I was told "you don't have to keep the credit receipt b/c we have it in our system and it never expires". Now it is 2 years and 3 months later and they refused to honor it! It expired after 2 years despite what I was told. It irritates me that credits expire. They already got your money! They lost me as a customer FOREVER over a $10 credit!! No Aloha here. I went to Manuhealii for the first time recently, and wow I am sooo happy to have discovered it! If you're looking for any of the following you should check out this place: 1) Original Hawaiian print clothes in contemporary cuts 2) Matching outfits for you & your honey OR you, your honey & kids 3) Hawaiian print bags, pillows You can order clothes online too. I think they get new prints/designs every 6-8 weeks. Pricing is reasonable for the quality. Dresses range from $50 - $72 from what I saw. They have another store in Kailua too. read more

Manuheali'i. The name conjures up images of modern Hawaiian attire. No longer am I confined to only muumuus for Aloha Fridays or 1st luaus. I can now wear aloha wear whenever I want. The Honolulu location is near Jack in the Box on Punahou Street. There is a small parking lot that can get crowded. If you park on the street, take care not to block any driveways. The store has huge display. The current collection is displayed so you can get ideas. When you walk in, you almost think you are in someone's house. It's a beautiful layout. Everything is organized by collection, color, style. There were many associates when I walked in today. In fact, Emma from the Kailua store was working. (The Kailua location is currently being renovated.). Emma pointed out the new collection to me. She even helped me pick out a top. Her customer service is FANTASTIC! So, when you find the need for that local wedding or just want to be stylish, keep Manuheali'i in mind as a choice. read more

I love Manuheali'i clothing, the prints and the qualitiy. I had really good service the last time I was here, the sales associates even helped bring other dresses they had on hand for me and my friends to take a look at, and she was friendly and greeted us the instant my friends and I walked in, she made us feel welcome. However, today was so different. The girls working today were rude and unfriendly. No greetings when we came in, no acknowledgement, or never asked us if we needed assistance. They asked my friend if they could start her a fitting room, they went and set her up one, but when I walked around with two tops in my hand I had to walk up to them to ask if I could try on and the girl behind the counter said "go" and set my self up in one room. I really loved the top I tried on, so I still made a purchase despite the rude customer service. One last thing that I really wasn't happy with was when the girl that wrapped my dress up in tissue, when she was done wrapping it up she just flung it on the counter and flicked it toward me. Someone has an attitude problem. I'm not sure if I want to come back to this store anymore, it was such a bad experience. I would only come back here if my experience was like the last ones where the girls were so sweet and showed true Aloha spirit and made us feel welcomed! read more

I do not shop often especially Hawaiian apparel. I got into the store and immediately grabbed what I thought would fit appropriately. After my first failed attempt, an associate came to assist. Kayla listened to what I didn't like about my first choice and made recommendations. She convinced me to try a style I usually wouldn't go for and it worked! Made it to my company Christmas party on time and loved how I looked. Kayla even called the other location to see if they had another style I liked in my size and out it on hold for me. I remember Manuhealii back in the days when she started out at the craft fairs! So nice to see two stores now. The parking at the Punahou location is small compared to the Kailua location. The staff st Punahou is not very friendly nor helpful. So best you walk around the store and help yourself to try things on. It's funny how none of the clothes fits me really good, so I don't even own a pair of Manuhealii. My visit to the store is always for gift giving. Manuhealii sells well, so she does well, even without great customer service. read more

Cute boutique, nice and well kept, staff friendly and helpful. Selection not so much. Same print in different styles and fabric is thin. I remember having a dress years ago and it was a better quality fabric than what it is now. Hope the quality gets better, can't see paying a good amount of money for cheap fabric. read more

It's too bad, I love Manuheali'i clothing and have bought several shirts over the past two years as well as outfits for my family. However, the service at the Punahou St. store is absolutely horrible. "Aloha" may exist in the material and beautiful designs but not in the customer (non)service. I experienced a lack of attention to the customer and condescending attitude when making an inquiry. I've had this experience twice now in the past two times going to this store. I thought the first time was a fluke, but, apparently not. The women working the register stand around talking story instead of greeting and assisting browsing customers. This is tragic since Manuheali'i is a quality and respected brand. Basically, the clothes sells itself without the help of any human attention there. I will drive to Kailua next time to check out the store there as I'm thoroughly disgusted with the absence of service at the Punahou boutique. read more

This is a review update..... Observation from our last visit....there is still room for improvement regarding customer service. Yes, I could easily stop shopping at Manuheali'i, but I love their clothes. If they are reading this, please care enough to make improvements and show your most loyal customers that we are truly appreciated. I am not asking for free items or discounts, but I would like my presence to be acknowledged in a friendly manner. When I politely ask a question and you are busy, please say, "Just a minute," finish what you're doing, then address me. Do not continue writing, mumble an answer, and not look up at me. If it is that important, perhaps you should work on it in the back, away from customers. If you looked at me, maybe you'd see that I was wearing one of your shirts. Maybe you would appreciate my business. Please continue to work on improving customer service. read more

For years, I kept hearing about this place and I'll be honest, Aloha Wear just wasn't my thing. Little did I know that there is a whole fan base of Manuheali'i die hards. I began to hear about how Manuheali'i only brings out a print once and never brings it back. As a result, die hard Manuheali'i fans collect clothes with the prints and are on the mailing list so they can be the first to hear about a new print coming out. Now I know why. I've officially become a Manuheali'i die hard fan. Oh how I love you Manuheali'i! Manuheali'i is the only Aloha Wear that I will wear. I love the prints and colors that they use. The styles are super comfy to wear. They do run a little on the big side, but some of the styles do tend to shrink in the wash. To be safe, you should dry clean your favorite items so they don't shrink. Oh, and I love styling my shirts and dresses with cute little belts and cardigans...totally takes Aloha Wear to a whole new level. Check out their Facebook page as they sometimes run pretty sweet deals/sales. I once scored a super cute romper for 50% off from a Facebook add. In my opinion, prices are pretty reasonable here. I've been to other places that charge $90-$100 for similar styles. I also love their matching mommy/daughter/whole ohana selection of clothes. This is my official go to holiday/family picture wardrobe shop. Recently, the Japanese tourists have discovered Manuheali'i and they come by the bus loads. When the tour buses pull up, it can be hard to shop as the tourists go all nuts and push their way through to get what they want. But other than that, my shopping experience here is always enjoyable and laid back. The ladies here are super helpful. read more

Frustrated!! I have been a customer for some years now. I don't live in Town or Kailua, therefore the most appealing option is to shop on-line. This would be possible if the availability was there, I don't hesitate to buy a hundred dollar dress (their loss). Also, what happened to the promotion of family matching? I went into the Punahou store today to see if I could buy at least $1000 worth of dresses and blouses to beef up my aloha attire wardrobe. Epic fail...the girls were standing at the register talking story...NO one approached me to ask me if I needed help. I walk around and looked at least 20 minutes and nothing. For some reason, I tend to associate "Aloha Wear" with huge, unflattering muumuus with extremely busy prints and huge poofy shoulders. Ugh. So when I read that "Aloha Wear" was highly recommended for an event we were invited to, I shuddered. AND to top it off, I was in a bind--my go-to flowery print dress was now too big (Thank you, Tony Horton!) so I was off to find something new to wear. After failed attempts at Macy's, Tori Richards, Sears, and a few local stores in between, I finally convinced BF to give me one last shot at Manuheali'i. I have no idea why I didn't go there first! (+++) I FOUND A DRESS THAT FITS. And it's cute, is not frumpy at all, and has a bold yet not touristy print. That's totally a win in my book! No unflattering silhouettes here--Manuheai'i is bound to have a style that will work with your body shape. They also have a broad range of sizes to fit the slender AND the curvaceous. The designs are also awesome at multitasking! I wore the dress I bought to a foundation dinner but I could easily wear it to work or around town. (Manuheali'i also carries kids and Men's wear which make them very popular for matching family portraits.) (+) Everyone who works here is so nice! (+/-) It is a relatively small lot but I've never had trouble parking in here. BUT Manuheali'i is super popular with Japanese tourists that come in large packs. Sometimes it gets really crowded in the store but the helpful ladies are experts and maneuvering the crowds in and out of the dressing room. (+++) They update their inventory constantly through facebook, twitter, and their website so it's super easy to keep track of the new designs. read more

Love this store! Hours are longer on the weekdays than the weekends. I have attempted to go late Saturday afternoon only to be disappointed because they close at 4pm on Saturday. Overall, I LOVE their stuff and love the fact that they carry large sizes! Story of my life to love a product for it only to go to a size large (and not a true large, but a large that would fit my 5 year old) However, with that being said, I wish they made their dresses a bit longer. I am 5'10" and most of their dresses are too short for me to wear to work. I have shopped with shorter people and the dresses are a great length on them. Also -- if Manuheali'i reads this -- please make more stuff in the cotton material!! read more

This a great location, even though it's farther for me than Punahou location it's worth the drive. Parking lot is huge so no worries about parking like the Punahou location. They may not have as much of selection as Punahou location in sizes, but staff is very helpful and will call Punahou to see if they have what I'm looking for. read more

They have some of the cutest and, most importantly, original Hawaiian prints. I used to wear their culottes waaay back when I was 10 years old. And now, they still make clothes that are just as cute to wear as they were 15 years ago. I've gotten so many things here and all are great. I bought a Hawaiian print baby throw blanket (or I think you can use it to throw over your bed, too) for my friend's baby shower, long and short dresses (I have the one hanging in the picture!), printed glass mugs/tumblers, tank tops, aloha shirts, etc. The dress I bought today was $72. I saw a really cute clamshell shaped purse today that I wanted to buy but decided I had enough bags already. Really friendly people working there and they are always willing to help. read more

An iconic staple in locals wardrobes since 1985. Manuheali'i is the go-to place for locals to get their aloha attire on. It's easy to make Hawaiian clothing look overly touristy, but "Manu" threads are very distinct--their intricate pattern designs and vibrant colors combine the best of both fashion and Hawaiian culture. They carry a variety of styles which range from basic to more modern cuts. While their collections do specialize in women's styles, they do carry men's aloha print shirts and keiki attire, bags and accessories as well. With the quality of the material and construction of each garment being of high quality, expect to be paying between $68-$98. I recommend trying on the clothes before you buy them because they are an investment. The staff here are nice-- somewhat touch-and-go, but always willing to help if you have questions or start you a fitting room. The parking lot is quite small and can be an issue at this location, but if you snag street parking nearby it shouldn't be too bad. Whether you're going to a special event or going for a more casual look, it's worth it to give Manuheali'i a visit. read more

This was my first visit to any Manuhealii store. I've always wanted to own a piece from here. The lot is very small so if you get lucky you will find a stall but I suggest that you reverse park to get out easier. If not you will have to find street parking. Malia helped us and she was so nice and friendly I felt like I was at one of my friends homes rather than a store. We were greeted by two other associates as well and were very friendly and willing to help and answer any questions that we may have. We ended up with a dress and a matching shirt that we wore to a wedding we attending and people liked the print. I will definitely be back in the future and hope that Malia helps us again. read more

Ok, prints, colors, n material matter. How it is sewn and finished matters. Now styling takes it to a whole new level. With many designers some seen and not. There's a lot of competition. Tahiti has designers that when you look at their prints and styles you know it's tahitian. Samoa and the Cook Islands are the same. Big, bold, colorful pieces that reflect their culture. Also done in different fabric or cuts depends on the style. When Mamo first came out, her prints were beautiful and bold but still Hawaiian. The cut, color, and fabric mostly cotton based. Wash n wear stuff but beautiful gorgeous pieces. That could withstand the west n tear. Much like the Samoan designs seen which are beautiful but Samoans love to sew and their patterns are beautiful much like their tattoos. The patterns like Tahitians are awesome. If u look at other Polynesian designers you will see the difference. If I'm going to pay good money for a piece I want everything done right. Missing Polynesia is ok, expensive but they use Rayon n hella expensive. It's not Hawaiian. With that said, competition is fierce. Creativity is a must and design is a must. Manuheali'i is boring and lacks creativity with keeping it Hawaiian. You can still design young pieces, rompers, skirts , tops, dresses, but still design a nice holomuu and Muu once a year. And stop using just rayon to cut costs and patterns that don't even look Hawaiian. Take lessons from Tahiti, Samoa, Cook Islands, n Fiji. Keep it authentic! You can never go wrong. read more

I try to buy something when I can, or when I actually have time to squeeze in a shopping trip in my lunch break. The prices are not bad, and the designs are beautiful. The styles are great as well. BEAUTIFUL and elegant Hawaiian wear for women and men. I'm usually a size medium but I fit a XS there. I bought my husband an aloha shirt and myself a mu'umu'u. I enjoy and love supporting local businesses. My only complaint is the price$. Hopefully the company can expand to the Pacific Northwest! Would love to have them closer to where we live! read more

I was at the grocery story and this lady in front of me was wearing this lovely coral colored aloha print shirt. She told me about this brand so of course, I googled it and found that the store was right off of Punahou. I would never have noticed this store and honestly, I wouldn't have visited if it weren't for seeing it on that lady at Marukai. So, fast forward to my visit. The store has short hours - they close at 6pm so I raced over there after work. They have a small parking lot and it looks almost like a home from the outside. I went in and it's very bright and airy. They had a pretty big selection but I was on a mission to find that coral dress. I found the print and they actually had that print in a variety of styles so it made it that much harder to decide. The worker was nice enough to get me a fitting room but for the most part - she, as well as the other worker were very preoccupied with a customer that was with her husband. The fitting room is pretty standard with the exception that the drapes are paper thin and barely closed. I was hoping that the ladies husband didn't stand up and walk past the fitting room I was in because no one really needs to see my goodies lol. So, I couldn't decide what dress to get and turns out, they had that same style dress in other prints too - making it way more harder to get the hell out of there. I ended up with this off the shoulder dress that I absolutely adore. One thing I didn't really like was that during my time in there, I was offered a fitting room and that's about it. The workers spent so much time helping that older customer - who didn't buy anything. I know because I left the same time as she did. As a new customer - who's never been there before and actually bought something, I would of been a little more attentive. I honestly would of walked away with more than that one dress if they were just a little more helpful. No one checked on me if I needed additional sizes, other prints, etc. I'm hoping that it was a fluke and it's not like that all the time. I really do like their dresses and I love supporting local businesses but I wish they were more helpful. read more

Hmm, it was always a dry humor joke in High school that if you could frequent Manuheali'i you had money. Idk how true that was bc as much as I heard about the brand, I never owned anything from there, I never really desired anything Hawaiian print (considering im mostly Hawaiian I find it odd). My aunty bought me a top and coin purse from here and it was a beautiful pattern and I could feel that it was made with great quality but I never bothered to wear it, I actually had intentions to exchange it for something more my style but the exchange policy was only a week and I missed it by 3 days. My coin purse is still in great condition even with everyday rugged use from the last 3years. Maybe when I make it a point to shop here personally I can give a more accurate review. read more

I have been in this store many times with my mother. Each time customer service was excellent. I love their collections and the fact they diversify with accessories. The cashiers were always helpful and friendly. They make you feel special irrelevant if you are famous in Hawai'i or not. They make it a wonderful shopping experience.
