It's nice to have a mama tang restaurant in Houston as there are so few as there is. I wish, though that this place would hit the spot a little bit better. I went there on a weekday night and they already ran out of most of the broths. Furthermore, the labels were all mixed up and so I couldn't really tell what meat was which. The sauce bar also did not have all the sauces that I'm used to what I did have though was pretty good and not that bad considering that this is Cyprus in a drive to Chinatown for a hot pot is pretty far. The only thing I would say, though is that after adding all the weight, the hot pot came out as much as an all you can eat almost and therefore I'm not sure if the value is there. The place is very nice and the service was pretty good.

I come here like once a week for Maocai. You pick which ingredients you want, and the charge you by the lb. I believe it's $14.99/lb. Im usually under the pound so I pay $12-14 for a big bowl of soup. I usually get the beef tallow soup base spicy. Great place to eat for a quick lunch.

Great Hot Pot Spot! Mao Cia Hot Pot offers delicious, flavorful broth and very fresh ingredients. The sauce bar is well stocked, portions are generous, and prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. A great place for authentic hot pot--I'll definitely be back!

Wish I could give them 20 stars! My friend suggested we try this place out and as neither of us…read morehave ever been before we decided to try it. And I'm so glad we did! The service was top notch Kevin our waiter was perfect, he explained exactly what us first timers needed to know (we opted for the BBQ vs Hot Pot) and gave excellent amount of service without interrupting too often, but without ignoring. And now my favorite part the food.... We ordered the following for our meat selections: Prime Beef Brisket, Spicy Beef Bulgogi, Garlic Chicken, Pork Belly, Cumin Lamb and Garlic Shrimp. For veggies: Shiitake mushrooms, Mung Bean Sprouts, Onions, Bamboo Shoots, Eggplant, Zucchini and we topped it off with a pineapple drink. My friend said the veal and the pork belly were both delicious, I don't eat either so my review is based on everything else. OMG the flavors were so packed into the meats they needed nothing else. The spicy beef bulgogi was by far my absolute favorite (I polished off two full servings myself) the spice profile was so perfect that it enhanced the beef without masking the natural flavor and the use a good quality beef as well so any toughness is due to your own over cooking which still didn't happen. The shrimp and chicken came in tied for second place for flavor bomb, I'm pretty sure they marinate this stuff for days for it to taste so full of flavor! There is also a fully stocked "Sauce Bar" with so many different kinds of sauces and additions. The inside is very large, but not loud and they have a full bar for those who wish to sit there. If you haven't tried them yet GO! You and your stomach will thank me.

That was a first for us and was amazing he really made our night. Didn't get a name but got a side pic. . The food was excellent much better than other locations and the service again five stars. We took my 101 yr old grandmother and she loved it. What an amazing experience for her and the family to celebrate my daughters birthday.

The utensils (takeaway chopsticks, metal spoons, napkins) are in the drawer on the side of the table. There's a button to push for assistance, but the workers only attended to it a few times. The banchan had a variety of flavors. There was typical Korean side salad, fishcakes, and soy sauce-pickled jalapeño-cucumber-daikon. The broccoli salad was soft and seemed to have tofu mixed in. There was blanched green cabbage with a spicy side dip. The kimchi was crunchy. I got the combo tofu soup and grilled mackerel. The seafood (medium-sized clam, shrimp, mussels) tofu soup (hot) was flavorful and came with a raw egg to crack. It had chopped onion and zucchini. The seafood pieces were a good sizeand tender. The mackerel half was huge, thick, moist, and crispy. The flavor was really good after a few days too. It was accompanied by sliced white onion and a lemon wedge. A wooden lid covered the rice, which was in a metal bowl in a wooden stand. I was surprised it retained its heat really well. There were tables and wooden seat booths with towel-like seats. They have deli containers for soup leftovers and foam boxes for other food.

The service from the older ladies working there was unfriendly and felt like they didn't want to be there. Compared to other Korean restaurants, both the service and the side dishes were far below standard. The kimchi was especially disappointing. It tasted worse than store-bought kimchi, had a bitter flavor, and was nowhere near the quality you would expect from a Korean restaurant. It didn't pair well with the soft tofu stew at all. The side dishes were also very poor. Plain boiled cabbage with ssamjang and broccoli drenched in watery mayonnaise were some of the worst banchan I've ever had. The fish cake was dry, shriveled, and had no freshness or shine. To make things worse, we were only given one salad even though each person was supposed to receive one. When we pointed this out, the staff simply said we could ask for more if we needed it. If every customer is supposed to receive a salad, it should have been served correctly from the beginning instead of making us ask for what was already included. For the price, the overall quality simply isn't worth it,. I also hope the staff provide a more welcoming attitude because customers can tell when it feels like they don't want to be there.

Service was spot on, quick, and we got our food in what felt like maybe a few minutes. We started off with pork dumplings for the kiddo, which he INHALED in moments. For entrees, we split the orange chicken and the Spicy/Numbing Pot. The orange chicken was spot on. The sauce was sweet but not painfully sweet or thick/clumpy. Really nice orange flavor and tender chicken. So much fun eating it since it is gluten free! Our kiddo also devoured this dish! Mild - not spicy at all! The Spicy Numbing Pot, while a little oily/greasy on the bottom, was still delicious! I appreciated that it wasn't knock your socks off spicy - it had a solid kick, and so flavorful. I love eating dishes with Sichuan Pepper; it has a lot of flavor, and the tingling is so much fun. This dish was perfect with some rice, and it wasn't too heavy for the middle of the day. The prices were really reasonable, and there was enough food for leftovers which we ate later that night. Our only regret is not getting the duck appetizer, but we will be sure to get it next time. We can't wait to go back, and Tiger Noodle will happily be in regular rotation for our family! You can't go wrong!
