Chiba hot pot is in North Houston area on 1960. This spot is spacious, clean, friendly service and then you self service a you build and cook your hot pot as you like. You choose your base and you can split bases to two soup broths as well! You then choose your toppings as they pass through a revolving area near your table. A conveyer belt ayce hot pot spot. What more can I say? A lot actually! I was so excited when I heard about Chiba hot pot and arrived extremely hungry and with high expectations. I was not disappointed. The staff were so attentive from the moment we entered and we got excellent seating by the conveyor. Our servers took time to explain how the ordering system worked and talked us through the flavorings and spice levels of the different broth bases. The restaurant was large and spacious with plenty of space to navigate to the surprising station containing great sushi, fresh fruit and a variety of desserts, including cake slices, moon cakes, egg tarts and pudding. The meat was delicious and each serving was large The hot pot broths were so rich and I loved the mushroom one! Everything on the conveyor was easy to grab and rotated around in a timely manner. I enjoyed Chiba Hot Pot! I took my mom and I there for an early lunch on Saturday morning right at 11 and we really enjoyed ourselves. It's nice that each person has their own hotpot. I did the Japanese soup base and it was savory and delicious. I love that your choice of ingredients comes by on the conveyor belt. It adds a fun touch to the dining experience. All the ingredients were fresh and yummy. We did the grilled ribs and shrimp and they were both cooked well and delicious. Our servers were attentive and the place was really clean. Took several minutes to be seated. I had to ask a passing person if a seat was available. There were only 6 people dining at the time. The service once I was seated was terrible. I ordered more meat and had to remind the server that I ordered it after it hadn't come after ten minutes. It would seem that during a slow lunch I'd get much better service. At long last, my yearslong quest to try the infamous conveyor belt hot pot restaurant has come to fruition! I'm rarely up in Northwest Houston but in conjunction with a shop-till-you-drop trip at the premium outlets, the opportunity to visit Chiba was too good to pass up. We gathered a group of friends to join us for weekend lunch (same as dinner pricing) and were warmly welcomed by the waitstaff, who gave us a thorough introduction of the menu, soup choices, and dessert/sauce bar. She took our initial orders before we promptly ran over to the self-service area to make our dipping sauces and try the sushi rolls (which you can skip - it's not called Chiba Sushi, is it?) Once our personal soup pots arrived, we quickly got them up to a rolling boil - here are my thoughts on what we tried: Soup bases - Having ordered different soups at a variety of spice levels, we all started off with a little trade-and-taste! I opted for the gentle yet addictive dashi broth, which was tasty enough to drink on its own but even better at the end of the meal after being enriched with poached/boiled meats and vegetables. The mushroom broth was equally savory and would make for a wonderful vegetarian option; the house spicy was #1 in terms of pure flavor and kick, and I think I might choose either that one or the tom yum next time! Sliced meats - Chiba keeps the a la carte menu relatively simple, with pork, chicken, and two beef options offered during lunch, and the addition of pork belly and lamb for dinner. I thought everything was appropriately fresh and delicious, without freezer burn or funky tastes. Though these are typically delivered on order by the train above the conveyor belt, it was unfortunately out-of-service during our visit. I do hope it is eventually fixed, but until then you have the pleasure of flagging down waitstaff for a refill :) Grilled skewers - These tender morsels of meat are a dinner/weekend exclusive and are known as chuan (串) in China. They're succulent, well-spiced, and great to whet your appetite, though I wish they came out a little sooner compared to other items. Don't miss out on these if you're coming when they're offered! Conveyor belt items - Does the belt live up to the hype? I'm pleased to report that it does! You might expect that ingredients revolving endlessly might lose a bit of their freshness, but because the belt is contained and chilled, most items held up pretty well. I particularly enjoyed the lobster balls, kabocha, fried tofu rolls, and udon noodles - it's easy to sample and choose when gratification is near-instant. Don't worry if you miss something on the first pass, the belt moves quickly enough that you'll have another chance soon enough. Desserts - These are your standard Asian buffet offerings, consisting of layered sponge cakes, tarts, macaroons, fruits, and several ice cream flavors. Try one if you want, but it may be worthwhile to save some stomach space to get dessert elsewhere. Though the place was practically deserted when we first arrived, it did get a little busier by the time we left, which I appreciate with AYCE places to ensure good turnover of ingredients. The staff were really proactive about clearing extra/dirty plates and refilling drinks, so we made sure to leave a good tip! All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to stop by again if I were in the area, especially if weekday lunch pricing is available - hope to be back soon! read more

You also have a train that brings you hot foods from the kitchen and a little buffet table with cold desserts and a small selection of sushi rolls. The good - conveyor belt. The ambiance is cute. Looks and smells clean. The bad - the food. Low quality food. Limited food options. Mediocre tastes with low quality food. Slow service. I don't know if there's a limit on kitchen items once the original order is in since they took the menu away and never asked us if we wanted more even when I tried to ask for more kitchen items. Regardless, 1 plate of beef and 2 kitchen items per table for 3 people was laughable for $33/person. I basically traded $100 for $20 worth of value. If you don't see a waiter/waitress, just raise your hand and they will come over. We didn't need much from our waitress because the really cool train brings you your food. I am a newbie to hot pot/conveyor belt hotpot/sushi so i was truly entertained in this dining experience. I ordered the original soup base with medium level spice which was a bit more intense than I expected but still super delicious. The staff was really kind to explain the process and guide us through the ordering process to make sure we got what we wanted but also didn't over do it. I came with a group of 7 so we all shared most of the meat options and the conveyor belt brought around all of the sides and veggies. They also had a sauce bar and all you can eat sushi, as well as dessert. This was exactly the treat I needed. The dining room is larger than it looks. The train delivering food from the menu is a nice touch. All other items are conveyor style. For the most part, I didn't have to wait long for specific items I wanted to come by even as it got busier throughout the night. I love a good interactive meal. I also love an AYCE. I was there for over 2 hours, and our server was very patient and kept checking on us. He offered tips and cooking times and even made a sauce for us to try. I never felt rushed. I wish the bowls were bigger for serving, and there were ladles for serving out of the hot pot. Had to constantly refill. I'm with my seven-year-old son. I told the lady it's a hot pot for One. My son does not like hot pot. He would've just played around and waste of food. We stopped somewhere for him to get food before we came here for me to get the hot pot to my throat. The lady tell me if your son touches anything on the table he would have to pay for a meal and I said OK. I understand she repeatedly told me this a total of 11 times I'm actually not kidding a total of 11 times to where I asked her. Does she not understand what I'm saying because if you tell me and I agree 11 times what are we still speaking on it for? I tell her my son has already ate it somewhere he does not like hot pot. The hot pot would just be for me. She walked away. The server comes up. He tells me six times that if my son touches anything on the table that I will have to purchase another meal so I tell him I've already told the lady when I walked in that my son does not like hot pot. It would just be a hot pot for one. I cannot leave my son at home as I am a single parent he would have to come with me right moving on. I tell him the hot pot will be for one we move on the drinks I order a Coke I order my son ate his Sprite after that he says OK so I'm gonna charge you a meal now so I say why would I be getting charged a meal because I'm ordering a Sprite I have just expressed to you and the door lady that my son is not eating here so he goes somewhere that he comes back. He's like OK great so at this point I'm annoyed so I asked to speak to the manager I explained to the manager my son does not like hot pot. The hot pot would just be for me as my throat hurts and I have a horse horse voice. The manager was like OK what was the issue so I'd say the issue is that you guys entire team keeps telling me overly telling me that if my son touches anything on a table he's gonna be harsh and I keep telling them that he's not eating that so the manager, then apologizes also let him know that the cleaning ladies actually came over and we're looking under the table as if I was putting food under the table for my son to eat so again, he apologizes and we move forward I would not recommend this restaurant only because if this is how you would you treat paying customers after confirming with them that is only one person eating multiple times at that point this isn't a business that I would like to support. read more

Interesting concept for hotpot. Place was nice and clean. Pretty spacious and can accommodate for 4-6 groups of people easily. For ordering, best to get from the menu versus from the revolving belt. Mostly vegetables. They hace their own individual pots which I like and prefer. Food could be a bit better. Meat not that marinated. Ice cream is pretty good though. They get everything for you except for sauce but beware some food can take a while to make like the skewers. Chiba Hot Pot is a great option up in the Cypress area when you don't want to drive down to Bellaire. It's a conveyor belt hotpot spot which is different from your regular hotpot establishment. You'll order the meats from your server and it'll come out on a train that sits above the conveyor belt. My only complaint was that it took a while for us to get our meats and every time we reordered, it would be a bit before we received the meats. The beef belly is amazing, we kept reordering only that. But they also have grilled meat options and other items on the menu that aren't on the conveyor belt. The sauce bar is a bit limited, but we were able to make do with what they had. There's also small desserts at the bar and you can order ice cream at the end. read more

The food is pretty fresh and you can make your own sauce to get just the right flavor you want. Their house spice broth isn't crazy spicy but it tastes pretty legit! Whichever protein you order, it'll come by the little train, which would make any little kiddo happy. The conveyor belt has a plastic sliding doors to help limit contamination, assuming others actually slide it closed. There's a range of seafood, vegetables, and other hotpot stuffs to choose from, my favorite was the meatballs, which you normally don't see! Had a good time at Chiba Hot Pot with my husband. The service was super friendly, and the staff stayed on top of clearing our empty plates. I loved the revolving sides--perfect sample sizes to try a bit of everything and a cool concept. The broth was just okay, I had to add some stuff from the sauce bar to get an umami flavor. From someone who loves spicy foods, I did not consider the house special broth spicy. Ingredients were fresh, though the options were a bit limited. That said, what they had was solid. My only wish? A bit more guidance on how to order. It wasn't super clear. Surprisingly, the desserts were a highlight. Simple but so good. Hands down the best macarons I've had, which I did not expect from here! I was a little disappointed I didn't get to see the train of my meats though (While service was friendly and initially helpful, I can sense they were doing things in a way so they could go home right on closing time, if that makes sense). I stumbled upon this gem due to my craving for hot pot as it was the new year and holy cow am I glad I did!! Traditionally my family has hot pot for the new year and we always have noodles to hope for a long and prosperous life. My boyfriend searched up this hot pot place so we could go after church mass. I had actually seen this pop up on Instagram a year before so when I walked in through the doors and saw conveyor belts, I instantly knew this was the place! We were greeted by the host at the door and asked how many people- it wasn't very busy luckily as we came just before 6:30pm. We were seated at a booth on the far left side next to the conveyor belt and give 2 paper menus to look over everything. A waitress came by and asked us what we'd like to drink and if we had been here before. We both said no so she explained the menu to us saying there were certain things that we had to order from the waitress but everything else would come on the conveyor and we could select our soup as it was individual pots. I picked (apparently) the spiciest one which was the tom yum kha. I found out during my 2nd visit that this flavor of soup can't have an adjusted spice level as it's already made spicy. My boyfriend got the house special soup which looked very creamy and milky and it tasted very light. When our soups came out, we began opening the mini doors to the conveyor and getting plates of things we saw we wanted as it came by. There's quite a large variety of things but I was disappointed to see not a large selection of noodle types. The main ones they had were Udon, rice cakes or egg noodles. I guess it's because it has to fit on a small bowl on the conveyor belt which is why everything was also cut down in length and size so it wouldn't fall out of the bowl/plate and cause a mess. Everything was cooked fairly quickly in the soup once it began boiling and we ordered 4 portions of sliced beef, as well as some beef skewers. The skewers took some time to come out but the sliced beef came out fairly quickly. It was cut so thin that it cooked almost immediately in the hot broth. Overall it's a great place to eat with family! I even saw some parties of 4-5 people. I wouldn't recommend coming with larger groups because it can be kind of crowded and difficult to get to the conveyor and their booths are only meant for 3-4 people. For groups larger than 4 they'd probably seat you in the center where it's shoulder to shoulder so that everyone has access to the conveyor in front of them but it's not a lot of space to put bowls and things you want to add to your pot without grabbing something and immediately dumping it into the soup to cook while you grab the next thing. The staff are fairly on top of clearing space and collecting piles of small empty bowls. It's all you can eat so definitely worth it and the quality is good as well! Visiting parents for Thanksgiving, so we followed Yelp's rating and gave Chiba Hot Pot a try. We called to make sure they are open and to see if we can make a reservation. The lady was nice to explain that no reservation is needed for lunch. And she was right, when we got there at 12noon, about half the tables were filled. Although the place is not as big as other buffet places, it is nice and clean. After our family sat down, within a few minutes the waitress came to explain to us the process of ordering. The lunch was $18.99 per person, all you can eat. Other than the chicken/beef/pork meat slices, and the fried buns and fried chicken wings, she told us we would be able to find everything else on the menu on the belt. She then pointed to the list of soup choices - we are to pick a soup base first, then indicate the spicy level we want. Each person is to pick their own cause we all get our own hot-pot bowl. As a good eating habit, we started right away with the veggies. About 10 mins later, an automated toy train above the belt delivered the meat slides. Everything - especially the veggies - is super fresh; the blue crab and shrimps are hit or miss (had 5 crab pieces and 4 of them smelled). Apart from the food at the table, there is a section on one side of the walls with self-serve dessert (cake pieces and fruits) as well as different sauces. When we were all done eating, the waitress came by to get our free ice-cream order; there are at least six flavors to choose from. --- Overall, here are the great things about Chiba Hot Pot Buffet: 1) The service is great; they have people who continue to help clear out empty plates, and they never once rushed anyone to finish, 2) Most food is fresh and the place is clean, 3) So many ice-cream choices compare to other competitors. All the major houston foodies are posting about this place right now. I've been wanting to try this place and now that I have, I won't be returning. I will say it is a cool concept, but it's a one and done for me. The train is a gimmick. Our food only arrived on the train once. The rest of the time, it was an employee from the back walking to our booth with a plate of meat or food. Why make the train a highlight and not utilise it? Service is nonexistent here. There are rarely any meat selections and our waiter never visited our table and ask if we needed any refills or more meat. Both times when we wanted more meat we had to raise our hand to get her attention. One of our beef plates was comical, the pieces were all broken and were about the size of your thumbnail. The only way to cook it was to put the beef on the soup spoon and dunk it in. The options for sauce is not great either. None of the sauces were tasty. The desserts are what you'd find in a Chinese buffet and the egg tarts tasted like pure baked egg, it tasted like it had 0 sugar added in. We opted for the ice cream that was offered, I asked for vanilla bean since it was on the menu and our waiter said they don't serve that. We asked for chocolate and strawberry and she brought us green tea and strawberry.. If you're not going to remember something that simple, then use a notepad to write it down! Chiba Hot Pot is by far the worst hot pot restaurant I've experienced and I've been to many around the country. First, their prices for all you can eat are around $15.00 more than any other comparable venue where I've dined. Secondly, their skewered fare is inedible, tasteless and tough as nails. Third, traditional hot pot restaurants boil your broth in a huge pot but Chiba's pot is small and inhibits the contents from cooking properly. Hence, much of the meat and large pieces of vegetables especially the broccoli don't have enough time to thoroughly cook. Then there is your serving bowl suited for a cup of miso and not much more. Way too small. You're constantly transferring the contents of the pot to the tiny bowl instead of being able to ladle the contents of the entire pot to the serving bowl. Chiba is gimmicky with its revolving conveyor belt of ingredients and little meal trains that stop at your booth. Authentic hot pot restaurants are not cheesy like Chiba. See photos taken at another hot pot restaurant out of state illustrating size of bowls, hot plate, serving utensils provided and where one selects various items for their soup. I've been wanting to try Chiba Hot Pot for awhile, located in the NW Suburbs of Houston you don't have much hot pot buffet selections at all so trying can't hurt if it's a hit. Looks like I'll continue to travel to Bellaire Chinatown or to the city if I'm looking to get buffet style hot pot. While an interesting concept, I was a bit confused by the concept at first - and I was not explained what we should grab off the belt or what to order. Basically you select your meats off the paper menu, you can also choose your "cooked" plates off the menu as well like chicken wings and bbq stick items. Now the items off the belt, not sure how long some of those items were going around - I was very hesitant getting some items strictly due to its looks. The hot dog sausage you can't go wrong in the hot pot, it was good. Some of the greens however looked like it's been there for awhile. The chicken wings were ok, definitely be prepared to wait as they cook them fresh, order more than 2 orders at a time , 1 order of 2 wings is not enough. Then pick from a selection of raw meats. As you sit there you see a conveyor of seafood, vegetables, noodles and other delectable items. These items are to be placed in your soup that is on a heated surface to cook or heat. Your raw and cooked meats are delivered on a "bullet" train to your table. We such a wonderful experience! The staff is incredibly friendly, the food tasted fresh and the soup base was so delicious. I took the family to celebrate Chinese New Year for hot pot & Chiba did not disappoint. There were plenty of selections & fun factor for a hot pot meal. Those reviewed being less than quality or authentic IMO is too harsh. My family being from China enjoyed the experience just fine, like I said hot pot fun factor. Check out their menu for variety of choices. The skewers were ok, that was not the reason why we were there for. Keep in mind, there is processed white fish used as crab and lobster, but that an ok substitute in a hot pot. Real blue crabs in a shell to squids really makes the seafood fun as well. Delicious food! This is a conveyor belt restaurant so they have small portions of the different things you can add to your hot pot constantly going past. There were a ton of options and everyone in my party (picky eaters included) raved about this afterwards. You have to order some of the meat- but it comes directly to your seat via a cool little train and you can keep getting more as you want. read more

Chiba Hot Pot is on FM1960 at N Eldridge, at the end of that shopping plaza. We've gone twice and enjoyed both times. The employees all wear masks and they're all very nice and attentive. It's an individual hot pot concept with all the ingredients traveling on a conveyor belt. Most of the booths and seats are positioned around the conveyor belt so that you can grab items as they pass you by on the belt. There are a list of hot items you can order from the kitchen, like shrimp skewers, fried chicken wings, Korean BBQ short ribs. These items will be delivered by a train that stops at your table; you take the food and press a button for the train to return to kitchen- pretty neat idea! Both times we've gone, the service has been great. May was our waitress and she was extremely friendly and attentive. The dessert bar has a few sweet items and fruits. Next to it is also a bunch of sauces and seasonings like garlic, hoisin sauce, fish sauce, chili peppers that you can add to your soup broth or mix for dipping. I would recommend this place for all-you-can-eat individual hot pot. The ingredients look fresh, washed and plentiful. The conveyor belt has everything from oysters, shrimp, tofu, and tons of greens.
