I was tired of holiday food so I decided to drive out to Katy Asiantown and ended up at Bon Kalbi. While sitting in the car reviewing the menu, I decided to just order and went into HMart for a few things while I waited for my order. I expected to wait a bit longer when I went inside the restaurant but they had my order ready earlier than the estimated time. The server was sweet and packed everything up tightly for my short ride home. I ordered the soy glazed chicken with a side of garlic noodles. It came with plenty of banchan and kimchi as well. After the first bite, I started to regret waiting so long to try this place. The chicken was juicy and the sauce the perfect balance of tangy and sweet. There was also a good amount of tteokbokki mixed in which soaked up the sauce well. The noodles were garlicky and had a springy bite, and the banchan were all tasty. It was a big portion so I had plenty of leftovers later. They are a bit pricy but they do have affordable lunch specials with plenty of food. Adding Bon Kalbi to the rotation!

We ordered the seafood pancake, fried dumplings, bulgogi lunch special, army hot pot, and Bon galbi. There is also a variety of drinks, we got unsweetened iced tea, peachade, and hot cintron tea. All vey good.
Came here for lunch and ordered the spicy noodles with their galbi bento. Ordered chicken for the kids with non spicy noodles. It was cool that they brought out and gave us a Korean snack for the table before they brought out the meal. I really wanted to love this place, but the food was just okay. A pretty good portion though. The noodles were disappointing (not sure if it was supposed to be garlic noodles but overall a bit bland and overcooked) Galbi was decent but not a standout.
I recently stopped by for dinner for three. We were craving Korean foods, so we decided to try this place out. The restaurant was pretty packed at the time, but it did not take too long for our orders to be taken and foods to come out. We thought it was pretty weird that they did not have galbi as an option despite having "Galbi" in their name, but that was okay. We were told by our server that they no longer serve BBQ galbi here. Like typical Korean restaurants, the meal came with complimentary side dishes, and they tasted pretty nice. I ordered the Korean Pork Ribs, the Seafood Pancake, and the Seafood Tofu Soup. The Korean Pork Ribs were not bad; they were supposed to be spicy, but they weren't spicy at all. The Seafood Pancake tasted okay though. I really liked the Seafood Tofu Soup. It was probably the best dish of the night. Overall, the whole dinner was not bad. I would not mind coming back here if I really couldn't decide where else to eat, but I would not go out of my way to eat here.
First time here and do not know Korean food terminology. Luckily I was with my daughter and her children who are well versed in Korean food. I order the grille pork belly. I have had pork belly in other forms at other places so I decided to try it. The pork belly comes on some grille cabbage and onions and you get a side of white rice. Over all flavor was good and plenty of pork belly.. See pics of menu to see what we ordered. Prices are a little high but servings are huge. If you want to try something different and expand your foodie experience I highly recommend this place Service was pretty fast and everything tasted great. We ordered the bulgogi hot pot, seafood tofu soup, and spicy fried chicken appetizer. The hot pot is definitely a sharing size, and we had a lot leftover between two people. The tofu soup was good and felt pretty standard across all Korean restaurants I've been to. I personally didn't try the fried chicken, but my friend noted it was comparative to classic Korean fried chicken. I feel like the prices can be a bit high, but having recently moved from Austin, it's nothing too startling and is probably comparable to a lot of Asian restaurants nowadays.

They brought out boiled bok choy, pickled radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, and sautéed fish cake. +The restaurant space is small, but tidy with nice decor. -The oxtail soup was lukewarm; usually, it comes out boiling, piping hot at most Korean establishments. The cartilage pieces were super large chunks and not boiled down, so they were tough to chew. I brought home some leftovers and cut them into little pieces for easy spoonful eating. -They don't offer the typical self-serve dish of sliced green onions like at other Korean oxtail soup restaurants. -The seafood pancake wasn't cooked fully; the batter was still raw, as if they rushed in the kitchen and didn't use proper pan/griddle heat temperatures. -No loyalty rewards program. -No weekday lunch specials. -They don't offer the marinated pork bbq ribs anymore or the spicy beef rib galbitang, which are two dishes they were popular for. -All of the dishes were very salty. -We got super sleepy right after eating our meals, so there may be some MSG thrown into the soups. I would 1000% recommend this place. Great service and the food was amazing. I travel all over Texas and Oklahoma and this is the best Korean restaurant I've been too. There have been others I love but [[HIGHLIGHT]]everything we ordered was delicious, service was great, and the ambiance was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The best bulgogee I've ver had in a restaurant. We also have the Galbi, pork ribs, tteobokki, and soondubu jjigae.
My daughter and I were craving Korean and we decided to try Bon Galbi for the first time. Our server was knowledgeable & she was very accommodating by recommended dishes. The Bonchon had several items to choose from and they refilled it generously. My daughter had the Bulgogi and I had the pork cutlet. It was a lunch special and it was very filling. I thought the prices were very reasonable than the servings were very generous. We also ordered the kimchi pancake and it was delicious. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and will come again.
Spicy galbi jjim This is huge and can be shared among 4. $45 but come with a lot of meat. It was my first time having galbi and I see why it is one of the things shown in Korean dramas. I loved the water container. It came with small servings of rice. In the stew: Kobocha, potato, glass noodles, braised beef short rib (great quality). At first, I thought it was not too spicy. Then it got too spicy too late. But I would 100% eat it again. I don't care. It's one of the best things I've ever eaten.

We ordered the bibimbap and beef galbi and it was the perfect comfort food. Everything came out hot and flavorful. The bibimbap is served in a stone bowl that keeps it warm the whole time, and the beef galbi was tender and delicious. Cozy, satisfying, and full of flavor. Definitely recommend! read more

Dang, I really don't like it when restaurants change things up and I get something different than what I was expecting...they no longer serve the dolsot bibimbap on a flat stone but rather the traditional bowl... Personal preference, the bowl wasn't as good as it used to be. I probably won't be coming back. This location lacks authenticity in their dishes, sauces and service in general. What if you get patrons who are native Korean speakers and they say the menu items in Korean, and the server doesn't understand you? Even if you're not Korean, you should still know the menu. It's written in both Korean and English on the menu, so it should be expected that servers recognize it in both Korean and English. The balance of veggies to rice was not balanced and the gochujang sauce even the "extra spicy"one wasn't even spicy. It was still sweeter than anything else. read more
Great Korean restaurant in Asia Town in Katy. It's inside a plaza along with other Asian restaurants, even an H mart. We got seated right away and food came out very quickly but sizzling and fresh. Waitress came by to check in on us several times and refilled water several times as well. Favorites are the galbi tang and scallion pancakes. Everything seems very fresh. One of the first places we tried in Katy Asia town! Staff was very friendly and food came out very quickly. We ordered the Galbi and the bulgogi bibimbap. It also came with side dishes. Food was overall very tasty! read more

I was really craving the traditional Korean BBQ, however there was no galbi to be seen. Instead, I ordered the Bulgogi and Seafood Tofu Soup. The Bulgogi was up to par! My biggest pet peeve with bulgogi lies with how little meat is served, and how much fat is. However, that wasn't the issue for Bon Galbi's rendition. Due to this reason alone, it allowed you to actually taste the flavors of the bulgogi rather than fight with the fat. Sadly, the Seafood Tofu Soup didn't have a variety of seafood. It did, however, have 4 very large prawn shrimps to compensate for this. The soup was made perfectly. You could actually taste the broth and flavor with every bite. I'm guilty of finishing/slurping the entire thing. NOTE: Banchan is not offered here, you'll have to pay a la carte. We ordered the fish cakes alone and were heavily disappointed with how dry and unsavory they were. read more
I think this is under new owners and they must not be Korean. They do not have Galbi anymore and they charge for banchan(side dishes). Koreans do not charge for banchan. I miss the old place and sad to see that this place has changed. Why ruin a perfectly good restaurant by changing the things that work. read more
Presentation 3/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 3/5 Food 2/5 Price 1/5 Finally, I got to try Bốn Galbi! It went around 5 on a Sunday so it was pretty empty. I've tried the bibimbap and beef soup. It came with the usual Korean side dishes. The bibimbap came out looking good, but I immediately noticed the lack of meat. It has got to be like 1 oz only. I asked the server how many ounces is the meat supposed to be and he didn't know he said it is just 1 scoop. I asked him was it a scoop for ants? It for sure is less than a 2 Oz scoop. The bibimbap was super bland, I had to put a bunch of the red sauce they gave me. The beef soup was absolute garbage IMO. It was my first time trying it. It was like sink water with a strong smell, noodles and a couple slices of brisket. Bọn Galbi is overpriced for food that is way below PAR. Try for yourself if you want to be disappointed. read more
We just tried this place the other day and it was so delicious! The food has so many flavors and the portions are the perfect size. The service is impeccable and the vibes in there were chill and cozy. I would definitely recommend this place. The prices are also great and not overly inflated as a lot of restaurants have been doing after covid. read more

I only ordered one entree so this whole review is reflected off of that dish. I ordered the ribs with cheese. I honestly thought it was okay. There wasn't anything special about it. The cheese was delicious but I wasn't fond of the flavor of the ribs. We ordered two side dishes and honestly, I liked those more than the main entree. Service was okay and the guy told us that they change their menu recently so I'm not sure if they'll change it again soon or keep this menu permanent. Ill come back next time and order more to update the menu! read more
Bon Galbi is amazing! I've been to Seoul in the past, and this place is just as good as some of my favorite spots there. Surrounded by a million other restaurants in Katy Asian Town, it can be hard to find, but you don't want to miss this spot. On this visit, I tried the spicy galbi tang, premium pork belly, kimchi pancake, and seafood pancake. The stew was very flavorful and nourishing. The pork belly was honestly the best I've ever had in Houston. The meat was marinated perfectly with the perfect texture. The pancakes were also really tasty and crispy too. My experience here was phenomenal. The food was very hearty and authentic. The service was great. One of the top spots for Korean food in Houston! read more

Was out with my family and decided to try this spot. Had always wanted to stop in and try, but was always headed somewhere else in the area. I am glad we decided to stop by. The servers were friendly and very helpful towards my parents who are still pretty new to Korean food. We got our drinks and sides quickly, and they were a nice first touch. The Korean rice punch and pear juice were especially good. The kimchi and tofu were excellent. I ordered the dolsot bibimbob and my family ordered the soy glazed chicken and the bulgogi. All our mains were fantastic and full of flavor with good portion sizes. All in all we had a great visit and I look forward to visiting this restaurant again soon. read more
There were things I liked. There were things I did not. First. It's a galbi restaurant. But so grill on the table. That's new. The kimchi. Is a no. The side dishes...no flavor. Banchan? No flavor?? Dude.... C'mon. The kimchi pancake? Was gooood. I was surprised. Didn't expect it to have an impactful flavor. Good stuff. The kimchi stew? Good flavorrrr. Your regular kimchi be lacking but your stew be killing it. What's going on?? The pork in the kimchi stew is waaaayyyyy too fatty. It's excessive. Calm it down. The galbi?? Toooo fatty. Too much yo. There needs to be a good balance. Not 40% fat and 60% meat. Especially galbi. Wasteful. Service was fine. Not impressed. But kinda. But not. read more

Their kimchi was so so good! One of the best kimchi I've had in a restaurant!! I think the restaurant is new so the menu is quite small. The service was good and food was great. I just wish they had japchae which I always order when I go to Korean restaurants. read more

We found this place while checking out the Katy Asian Town while visiting Houston before moving here, so at least a year ago. It is located in the main plaza next to HMart so there's plenty of parking which is nice bonus. It's not a very big restaurant and they do get very crowded so get there before the crowd. The service was very good and attentive. We also like the cleanliness of this eatery. Galbi Jjim (Korean braised beef short ribs - 5 stars) is AMAZING. The portion is huge, it can easily feed 3-4 people. The Galbi Jjim consists of kabocha squash, potatoes, sweet potato noodles, and of course beef short ribs. If you are lucky enough to visit this place, we highly recommend this dish. It had a nice balance of sweet, savory and a hint of spiciness. The flavorful sauce is perfect over white rice for little extra something something. The meat was tender but not overly so chewing is still required. Although it may seem a bit on the pricier side but take into consideration that short ribs aren't cheap especially for quality meat such as this one. Cheese Fire Pork Rib (5 stars) is very delicious. The ribs were fall off the bones tender with a nice deep flavor. It's like BBQ ribs with a nice Korean umami twist. The cheese sauce was soooo good as well, it adds a nice smooth and creaminess texture to the ribs. Definitely a match made in food heaven. Woo Yook Tang (3 stars) was decent, we've had better at other establishments. There wasn't enough depth in the broth and a little on the salty side. Kimchi Dolsot (4 stars) is a very comforting dish with bacon, kimchi, and cheese...YUM! It came out nice and sizzling just the way we like it. The flavors were on point. The runny egg added a nice creaminess to this rice dish. We love the added cheese cos who doesn't love mozzarella cheese? Soy Glazed Chicken (3 stars) was just ok. It's teriyaki but not as good as the Japanese version. The chicken was tender and nicely cooked but it was a little too salty for us. The yummy chewy rice cakes definitely saved this dish. Overall we really enjoyed this place and would recommend it to anyone who loves Korean food or want to experience something. We didn't like having to pay extra for kimchi. My brother and I came here a few days before Thanksgiving as we were craving some Korean BBQ. I didn't want to drive all the way into Houston and I knew this place had opened a few months prior. My brother had wanted to actually grill the meat but seeing as we were hungry and this place already had good reviews, we decided to try it out. And boy were we happy we did. The Banchan were good, first time I had seen lotus root offered anywhere, garlicky, and different. They only serve 4 different Banchan whereas most places serve 6 but I wasn't complaining. The service was very good and so was the food. My spicy Pork Belly wasn't too spicy and had a really great smokey and garlicy flavor. My brother had ordered the bulgogi and that had way more flavor than most places. We were extremely happy with our choices and have definitely decided that we will be coming back. Good job! read more
Got takeout - the galbi pot and kimchi pancake! The galbi short ribs were not as tender as I expected, but still quite good nonetheless. The meat and soup is spicy sweet, and is absolutely delicious. The soup also has glass noodles, which I love!! We also got the kimchi pancake. It was great, and the edges were really crispy. However, the pancake is definitely overpriced ($17) compared to other Korean places. read more
Came here for lunch and it wasn't too bad. Clean and self serve water which I love. Looked like they were practicing distancing a lot of tables had reserved signs. Some were kinda close though. We got the squid ink pancake- 4/5. Wasn't bad. I would prefer a seafood one tho. Ink doesn't add much in terms of flavor but it was crunchy and squid was fresh and the dipping sauce was good. Bulgogi 2/5 pretty sad. Tasted like Hmarts pre-marinated bulgogi LOL. It was a little too sweet for me The spicy pork belly was pretty damn good 4/5. I wanna try the regular one next time. Super fatty and not too chewy. The sides were good. They had this lotus root in what tasted like a peanut sauce that I really liked. Tasted better than the bulgogi lol. Classic bonchon tho. Fish cake, kimichi, some boiled bok Choy I believe. Not too bad. I'd come back to try the other stuff. read more
