Was in Houston and picked up a some Pho, and I went to Pho Mai Tai for some Bún, vermicelli noodles with pork and an egg roll, and it was delicious. The vermicelli was perfectly cooked, the vegetables were fresh, the sweet sauce it comes with it was mild but sweet, the egg roll was fantastic. Came here on a Saturday night with 5 other friends and even though the restaurant was pretty busy, we were still able to be seated right away. I ordered the large Pho Tai Nam (eye round steak and well done flank). The broth was delicious and the noodles/meat were all great! Honestly, the mixed reviews on this place scared me a little bit but thankfully, my experience here was more positive than negative. The only downside is that service took a while but again, it was pretty busy when we came in so I understand. my go to comfort food spot! they do not play with the portions either. my favorite order is their general tso's tofu with fried rice, it's so crispy and tangy. i've also tried the rock and roll tofu, the veggie banh mi, and tofu banh mi, but i always come back to the general tsos tofu. when getting to go, they made my order so fast- in about 5-8 minutes on a friday night! when i got home it was still nice and warm. the lobby is general, and the restaurant itself is in an unassuming area, right by a kroger tucked behind the gas station. Came here for the first time with my wife. Ordered the beef combination, fried spring rolls, bbq pork banh mi, and bbq chicken vermicelli. We also ordered some Vietnamese coffee. Everything was crazy delicious. They had all the condiments that I needed to make my special dipping sauce and the pho broth was on point. The banh mi bread was so warm and crunchy soft. The vermicelli would probably be better with bbq pork instead. Highly recommend this place. Moving here from Hawaii eating legit dishes, then moving to Texas where food were tasty, but not the same. I did notice the tripe here is crunchier than at other pho restaurants.The crab cheese wonton was good. This table service restaurant has been here for about 10 years now but I just visited recently for my first time and then came back a couple of weeks later. The first visit was for a weeknight dinner with just a few other diners eating at that time. I ordered the M17 which is a combo mix of beef and vegetables served over crispy flat rice noodles. It was A-OK. The next visit was for a weekday lunch and the restaurant was full of diners. This time I chose a seafood lo mein dish that also arrived in less than 15 minutes. Again, it had plenty of content with various creatures of the sea along with plenty of lo mein. The taste was good too. I rated this meal as a 3 too. Common themes here are large portions at reasonable prices. Taste wise everything was acceptable but not enough to warrant a 4 in my opinion. However, I would return to eat here. read more

Was not crazy about this restaurant. I come from Boston where Asian cuisine is packed with lots of flavor especially crab-ragoons which are called "cheese puffs" here in Texas? I will never understand it. The dishes were small not too much rice was included either. I wish I would have gotten a pho dish here because I am sure it would have been better, than the rice dishes my husband and I got. However, I did get a thai iced tea which was delicious. Was gonna give it three stars but then thought otherwise and here's why. To preface, I only ordered To-go so I can't speak on how their service is, so this is purely a food quality review. The quality of their food is decent over all, meat is fresh and their sauces/spices are good. However, they are very conservative with their portions when it comes to protein. At 11 dollars a plate, I'd expect at least half to a third of what I'm eating to be protein, and yet when I went looking through my kung Paulo shrimp I only got 5 or six pieces of actual shrimp and there was an overload of peanuts. I also got sesame chicken, broccoli beef, and the grilled pork and I'd say every plate was skimping on the protein portions except for the pork. I don't know if it's something to do with how much it costs for the owners to buy the meat or if it's just a cultural thing, but I was definitely disappointed with the ratio of veg to rice to protein. Which brings me to my next point, the reason I gave two stars instead of three: The fried rice is okay but has no flavor. I can understand the owners expecting it to be mixed with the sauces of their plates and all that, thinking Its a better idea that the rice be less flavourful so it doesn't overpower the consumer, but it felt and tasted like I was eating boiled rice that'd been tossed in a skillet for a few minutes with nothing added but the few peas and carrots. I'm someone who loves eating fried rice on its own, msg and all so this could be just a personal preference that didn't coincide with how they do things, but I digress. If you are looking for relatively cheap and tasty tai food, then pho mai tai is the place to go, but be warned you certainly won't get the bang for your buck if you want a decent portion of meat coming with it. Like I said, nothing wrong with their flavors and the actual taste of the food, just wish I got my money's worth is all, so I'll likely be going somewhere else in the near future. read more
