It took about 10 minutes to even be acknowledged and when we were finally acknowledged, we were met with probably the worst server/bartender I have ever had. Tried Maple and Hash for the first time and it did not disappoint!! I ordered the Mexican omelette and it was delicious! Had to get the pancake to try and it was buttery, light and tasty. My bf had the avocado toast flight, no skimping on portions here and it came out looking and tasting great! Coffee is amazing! Will definitely be back! read more

On my first visit to this restaurant it was obvious that the management & servers fail to understand a few basic things about breakfast essentials that should be on the table! We had to ask for: cream for coffee, spoons to stir our coffee (the spoons aren't a part of the silverware set on the table!), jelly and butter, syrup... EVERYTHING! We had to ask for each of these items and then wait while our waitress went to to fetch them. It should be obvious that these things should already be placed on the table upon arrival at a breakfast establishment. Getting our coffee refilled was pain stakingly slow. The food wasn't anything extraordinary. Our server was slow but friendly enough. The inside decor is really modern & interesting but its not enough for me to come back. I think I'll stick to going to Alexander's. read more

Great food, outstanding & very friendly service in a quant very clean location. Whoever is responsible for hiring the staff here deserves a raise. Every time we come here we are greeted from entrance throughout our meal, to our exit, with warm smiling helpful faces. Sadly this is a rare occurrence these days. I just ate here for the first (and probably last) time. I was completely underwhelmed. I was surprised when my $13 "classic breakfast" arrived and it included only two pieces of bacon and one slice of toast. To me, that sounds like a kid's meal. Unfortunately, the bacon also looked like it had been cooked several hours before. It was over-cooked and dried out. The toast looked like it had barely been warmed, let alone toasted. The hash browns were obviously frozen , tasteless and probably cooked hours ahead of time as well. There are lots of great breakfast restaurants within a couple of miles of this place. Try Burnt Toast or Alexander's instead. read more

We ate at Maple and Hash on Sunday, June 23rd in West Dundee. I had called a few days before because I wanted to see if they were handicapped accessible. They took my information and assured me they could accommodate my wife in her wheelchair. When we arrived they had a perfect place picked out where we were out of the way, but very comfortable. The manager came to our table to make sure we were doing well. We had an excellent server who was so friendly and kind. I think her name was Ever Ley. I really can't say enough about how thoughtful and kind all of the employees were. The menu has some wonderful choices. My favorite meal is breakfast and I got delicious french toast and bacon. My wife had oatmeal with walnuts and cinnamon which was plentiful and delicious. We had a wonderful time, but the employees made the whole experience delightful. We highly recommend this restaurant and hope to return in the future. read more

Still sitting here on a Wednesday afternoon, and I didn't want to delay posting a review. (I've been told I post too many negative reviews, so I want to change that.) I have visited M&H in Pingree Grove (closer to my home) on a prior occasion and enjoyed it very much. So I decided to pop in here on my way home from work today. 11 AM on a Wednesday...not too busy. Maybe 25% of capacity. The restaurant is larger than the PG location, or so it appears. Bright and clean with a rustic "farmhouse-style" decor. Seated on the upper deck at a 2-top. Service has been very good. Efficient and friendly. Exactly as it ought to be. Ordered the Mexican Benedict and a side of Corned Beef Hash. The Benny was outstanding. Perfectly poached eggs, nice and runny! Very flavorful Pico de Gallo, with finely minced jalapeños and onions. The Hollandaise was smooth and tasty, definitely made on premise. You can tell by the quality. Hashed Browns to accompany were nicely cooked, browned with some crispness. The Corned Beef Hash was different than expected. It's not the traditional chopped Corned beef mixed with potatoes. Nice thick slices of Corned beef atop a bed of hashed browns and sautéed onions. Delicious! The coffee was hot and my server, Sam R., kept it filled. I felt welcomed here (as opposed to my last review posted of another establishment), nor did I feel rushed. I may not be back to this location because of proximity, but I will definitely be back to the Pingree Grove location because the quality and standards are one in the same. read more

I don't often write reviews but felt compelled to in this case. Have nothing good to say about the place other than the decor. Very long wait to get our food. We don't mind the wait when a place is busy so that isn't the complaint. Here you go. We ordered the classic breakfast, one with bacon well done/crispy and one w/ patty sausage. When it was delivered by someone other than the waitress, we had to ask for silverware, then ask for butter for the 1 slice of toast that comes with the order. The toast was ice cold, the hashbrowns were burnt where I could not eat them. The eggs, mine over medium had at least 1/2 inch of crispy on the white edges and my bacon was so undercooked I could not eat it and my husbands' sausage had no color from bring fried. All in all, this was a one and done - we won't give it another try. I have never seen my husband not leave a tip (he does even when it isn't deserved and I used to be a server in my earlier days) but today was a first, no tip. Maybe others have had a better experience but we won't be going back. read more

So many "breakfast/brunch" restaurants are popping up all over-and we tried this one on a whim. The atmosphere is nice-a little noisy-but not too. We ordered standard breakfast Faire-waffles, eggs, pancakes-they were all fine but nothing "out of the ordinary" or "spectacular". Prices are a bit steep considering the local competition. And I found the syrup to be on the "thin" side-and not very sweet. Lots of high top tables-so take note if your party has difficulty with tall stools. I don't write reviews, but this place was INCREDIBLE. We threw a party with 40 people at Maple & Hash, and it went excellent. Colin and Sam were fantastic as well as the other staff. Sam was THE BEST. The service was incredible. Food was absolutely delicious, and prices were some of the most reasonable in the area for group parties. PATTY was our server, and let me tell you that woman is such a delightful person!!! She was super friendly, personable, efficient, and extremely attentive. The food was amazing as well! I believe my mom and aunt both had the Mexican skillet and described it as "the best skillet they ever had". The portion sizes are HUGE! The ambiance was lovely! We love doing local, we've said we would give this place a shot one day , and why night on our 20th anniversary . Beautifully lite, looks to be well maintained. Staff was great. The hostess was our waiter , she had great customer service, she gave us enough time to go through the menu. We let her know it was our first time there. She explained a tea purée question I had for a beverage, with ease and full explanation of what was what. Love it. The tea was amazing by the way the purée was sweet enough to add to the tea. I had the Mexican skillet with a dinner size pancake with lovely whipped butter. Freakin awesome. My wife had the berry cream cheesecake French toast perfectly made, wasn't over sweet. Was hopeful but won't be back. Food was ok. Went to use the restroom but it was out of service (men's and women's). Told I could go across the street to the liquor store if I needed to. I understand things can happen but if I'm paying close to $40 for 2 breakfasts I don't want to go across the street to use the restroom and expect the food to be out of this world for that price when it is eggs and potatoes.
