I had the Gyro platter and the zucchini sticks and some coffee. My black coffee was a solid 7 of 10. My zucchini sticks were 9/10 and the tomato sauce, for dipping (I assume marinara) was a solid 8/10, the gyro meat was a solid 7/10, the pita bread 6/10, the fries 7/10, the tzatziki was 6/10 and the feta cheese 8/10. All together it was a good meal and the price point for this corner of VA, was good! The customer service was solid. 9/10. Everything was good. The only downsides: tzatziki could have been a bit thicker, tastier, and more abundant. Parking in that strip mall sucks sometimes. Overall, I think it's a great place. A classic sit down diner feel. Atmosphere was nice, classic family diner feel. The food was pretty decent as far as breakfast goes. I got the Chicken Souvlaki Platter and it was served on pita. The pita fell apart when I started eating it from being soggy. Chicken was good. Service was the big negative for us today. There are so many staff members walking around but we rarely saw our waitress. We had empty cups for 10+ minutes and had to ask for refills more than once. She wasn't anywhere to be seen when we were ready to order. I noticed one of the managers had to point her toward a table ready to check out. Came here with a friend for lunch. Apparently, this place has been open for over 20+ years so you know the food has to be good. My friend has been coming here since she was four years old and she is 30 now haha. Got the beef stew and the gyro platter and both were fantastic. Flavors are exactly what you would except from a family diner. Service was good! We were seated right away but you can tell it was busy. Waiter didn't come back to take our order for like 15 mins which was slightly upsetting since we were both hungry, but after taking the order the food came out within 10 mins. The French onion soup was divine, filled with bread chunks and gooey mozzarella. The blueberry pancakes were fluffy and delicious, and bacon & eggs were standard. This is one of our go-to spots for a meal. The food, service, and admittedly the decor here is from a bygone era--in a good way. Cozy booths line the walls, staff are attentive and warm, and regulars are abundant. The portions are not oversized like many diners, but the price is also commensurate with their smaller, more reasonable size. A similar omelette to one that's $16 at Silver Diner is a little smaller here but also only $12 and a bit less oily. The food is delicious and fresh. They aren't trying to reinvent the wheel. Rather, they take basics like breakfast staples, soups, salads, sandwiches, and comfort foods and just do them well. Coffee is a solid diner brew and they keep the refills coming. Don't miss the chicken lemon soup. It's Greek comfort food. We often take a quart home. Their pancakes are fluffy and flavorful, eggs always perfect. The chicken tenders are one of my favorite orders. The Reuben/Rachel or club is my go-to. The salads are crisp and simple with dressings that taste homemade. My husband loves the chicken parm dinner. I wish there were those a-little-of-everything breakfast plates here because I love variety and it eases the breakfast menu decision fatigue. But honestly, I just make my own from the a la carte options and get exactly what I want so its not a huge loss. One thing to note: ditch entitled or rude behavior at the door before dining here. Someone mentioned a beef about a "country club" attitude. In 70+ visits, I've never seen that, but I have witnessed school manners: please, thank you, taking off your hat at the door, not yelling at people, being patient with an elderly person moving a tad slower. This isn't weirdly enforced by the staff per se, but just so commonly practiced among most here that boorish behavior would stand out. read more

Service is friendly and the whole place gives off an old fashioned diner vibe. That includes the menu as well, which is loaded with all the typical diner fare. Service is fast and reliable and usually friendly if they aren't just too busy! It is a low pressure come as you are place so you will see teens in joggers beside adults in suits and church clothes. On grilled (not toasted) rye. With Swiss. Fries only if you add them (which is nice if you want to choose other things). Crab cake was pretty good, I'm particular about crab cakes & I'd give this 4/5. Homemade pineapple cake topped it all off. Food was fast, super friendly staff, pretty casual & didn't break the bank. Its a cute diner. Little cramped inside but plenty of sittings. Looked like they were always busy but grabbing a table was not too hard both visits. Service can feel a bit rushed but overall accommodating. They leave you a handwritten bill and its a pay at the cashier system Both visits the food was AMAZING Sometimes the diner food can be heavy and sit in your stomach in the greasiest way possible, making you feel bloated for at least a week but This place got perfect flavor yet just the right amount of heartiness (none of those overly salted potatoes) Love the sausage gravy - nice and peppered up Crab cakes were good but i preferred then as benedict because OMG love all of their benedicts Pancakes were fluffy and thick! My wife had chicken kabobs for $25 that amounted to several small blocks of fairly bland chicken and some broccoli. There's not much, or any, diner options around the area, so we too, had to go here for breakfast but I certainly can't say the food speaks for the busyness we saw every weekend. Everything is pretty bland. I'm from New Jersey, the diner central of America, so perhaps my expectations are too high for this area. Every single item we've ordered has been mediocre at best but our waiter was attentive and nice (always bringing our pup water, too). We've put this in our rotation since there's not many early bird restaurants that have outdoor seating (and we always have the doggie), but it's always left something to be desired. read more

Overpriced, lackadaisical service at a restaurant I felt acted more like a country club rather than ingratiating itself to new customers. From the moment I walked in, I knew it was going to be one of *those* restaurants, where the staff caters more to its regulars than to infrequent customers like myself. To people that come everyday, it is like social hour. To new patrons, it is here's your plate, enjoy, finish quickly, now get out of here. And that is exactly what happened. When I asked the server (an older lady) for breakfast suggestions, she immediately got gruff and scoffed at me. She then just said "pancakes". Okay. I went with three as I was pretty hungry. What meat? I asked whether she preferred the ham or turkey sausage. She scoffs again! "It's whatever you like." She says. Fine. Turkey sausage to change things up. Lastly, how do I want my eggs? "Over medium." I said. As she wrote it down I figured I would get more bang for my buck if I got them scrambled, so I amended them to scrambled. She scoffs one more time and then rudely says, "You keep changing your order." Lady, just cross it out or get new chicken scratch, it was not like I wanted it changed when the eggs came to the table. And I only changed my mind once! She then quickly walks away. I hear her later talking to who appear regulars there. Yeah, again, my theory was already proven correct. You probably want to know how my food was by now. So the food does come quickly, and it is served well, but it is all quite fair. The pancakes were just okay, in fact, I think they came dangerously close to screwing them up! How do you screw them up? They are just starch! I was tasting something like a hint of onion and potato in them, blech. I then tried the turkey sausage. They were just okay, bordering on crunchy exterior to little taste on the interior. Lastly, I went for the eggs. Somebody went overboard on the butter! Not to mention the eggs were runny. I also ordered a cranberry juice which was sickening sweet. When I came to pay the bill, I saw the cost, $17?! And that is with tip. Geez. Well, that is McLean for you. That also explains why I ate so fast. I just wanted to eat breakfast and leave. If you are looking for a relatively quiet brunch/afternoon spot then you have found it. Be warned the average age of the the clientele looked to be in their 60's but so don't expect to get obnoxious drunk or anything but it makes good for a quiet brunch place. The drinks were pedestrian at best they were made with pre mixed oj and your average champagne, but the waiters service and politeness made up for the mixology. The food was amazing and is definitely the reason I would come back. I had broiled crab cake eggs Benedict. Everything from the hollandaise sauce, to the level of poached the eggs were, to the creaminess of the crab cakes. It's was perfect.
