I am a donut lover and lived in the community for a long time. When the stars align, donuts are fresh and my extra favorite fudge covered cake donut is available, it's really hard to top Maple Donuts. Service is generally good, they're usually busy here which is a good sign. Flavors are sometimes inconsistent which removes a star from my review. Peanut Butter flavors taste off to me. But glazed and sour cream glazed are consistently excellent. They do fun seasonal flavors too! read more

I'm not usually one to write a review but this is ridiculous and I waited 20 mins with no way to get out the drive thru. When I pulled in there was on e car then me and another behind me The service is way to slow. There is two people working and I've watched 10 come in and out without any help being assisted to the drive thru. What is the point of you having it if you're only going to focus on the customers that come in. It's only donuts. I understand working in fast food industries but this should be a concern for management, not properly setting your employees up for success. A customer got out of his car and went inside to stand in line that's how long we've been in the drive thru 27 mins to be exact for me, the others probably longer. read more

About a 2-2.5: Maple Donuts seems to be a small mini-chain in the PA area, usually located off the rest area exits. Most are of the yeast-style doughnut variety, but they do have some cake-style and other 'specials,' such as apple fritters and such. Apparently, the doughnuts are made fresh on a daily basis, but when we picked up 1/2 a dozen, all of the doughnuts were pretty dried out, and the toppings were also more on the stale end. Ranging from strawberry, maple, glazed, to caramel apple, each doughnut didn't really have a distinct flavor to them, and all of them ended up tasting pretty much the same. It was a little disappointing, as the place itself seemed cute, and the staff were friendly. The doughnuts are a good size, and it was about $5 for 6 doughnuts, which isn't so bad. Stopped here to load up on doughnuts for a long holiday weekend road trip. These are cake style doughnuts so they are dense, moist, filling and packed with flavor. I got a nice assortment so that there was something for everyone. I actually preferred these over Krispy Kreme *gasp*. They have a longer shelf life than Duck Doughnuts and their flavors are better to me. (DD used to be my favorite). The reviews about the maple doughnuts are absolutely true this was seriously the best one and we may or may not have argued over sharing. Our least favorite was the salted caramel. It was overpoweringly salty we couldn't eat it. Almost like it had pretzel salt on it. So then there's that. But the other flavors are spot on! Peanut butter, double chocolate, etc. If you buy a dozen they give you one for free (which is a true baker's dozen). If you're in York, PA stop by. read more

I had the trump (blueberry with white and red frosting and sprinkles) and, unlike its namesake, it did not disappoint. It was moist and tasted very fresh. The smell of this place alone may lead you to buy a dozen for yourself! The accompanying coffee didn't exactly delight but they serve a decent and affordable cup of jo and staff is patient and friendly ....you'll need the patience with so many choices. OK...disclaimer. I stopped here with my brother after picking him up from the Baltimore airport at 11pm. We walked in and there were only 3 other people there. The lady working was seated talking to another patron. She looked at us and was quite annoyed that she had to get up...making it completely obvious that we interrupted her conversation. She took a good 3 minutes to drag herself to the counter, and while passing us, I looked down at her foot. A liquid was oozing from her toenail. Gross. Completely ruined the custard filled donut I planned on buying. Now I think of her toe every time I want to buy one. This place is a very good diet tactic if you're looking for one. The donuts ive had are just okay. I dont know what the rave is about, must be a york pride thing. They are better than dunkin in one way--they have alot of options. The problem with the food is the marketing - is clearly owned by someone with heavy right wing views. Which is not necessary as you are eating your donut to look out and view these kind ideals on a billboard or see a political ad or statement at the establishment. I have traveled the entire country and never found a better donut. I wish they would open a store in Naples, FL. These donuts are definitely better than anything Dunkin Donuts has to offer. The maple glazed are my favorites. The powdered cream filled are a really close second. When my husband worked in York as an emergency physician one of the female employees at Maple Donuts would save him a blueberry filled donut every Saturday. Great little shop, had heard about them while visiting York and getting a recommendation from a York Revolution Baseball fan while at the game. I order was taken quickly at the counter and prices on the donuts were in range with other shops I've been too. I particularly liked the chocolate icing that was used on the cream filled donuts...not sugary and flaky like others...it's more of a pudding texture and taste so not so sweet to detract from the donut itself. They were good sized and filled with custard and cream. We stopped by around 11am and the donuts were well stocked and fresh. Just disappointed there were no Fruity Pebbles donuts at this location!
