We came here often for 2 years because it is ideally located. Unfortunately, since their 2024 remodel, the primary focus of Maple Hills has been entirely profit driven and their focus on the animals and clients has suffered immensely. Communication has faltered, they confuse the records of my various animals with one another, on top of increasing their fees and demanding additional mandatory appointments to receive prescription refills; where they do nothing but weigh the animal and bill you extra. They seem to care much more about your money than your pet.. read more

We've had such great experiences at Maple Hills. Dr. Tyler is great - He takes the time to hear our concerns and throroughly explain everything. We've been there for both our dog and exotic (gerbil) and they were great and treated both equally. We also like that they have boarding and doggie daycare on site and that they're extremely easy to schedule with. read more

I recently had Dr Shupe to my home for euthanasia of my best buddy of the last 16 years. It was an extremely difficult process to make the decision, and the day of the visit was beyond nerve-wracking. I was given Dr Shupe's number by a coworker, and I'm glad I called. He showed up with his own dog in his van, and talked to me about Duncan, asking for a history and current problems. He was very calm and polite, and patient while I said my goodbyes. I have been going her for 20 plus years and will not go back after my visit tonight. First we waited almost an hour in a small room with no one coming back to say I am sorry the vet is running late and when we were in the waiting room the receptionist came out and our dog grumbled at her and she gave us a look like we were the worst pet owners ever she needs to find another job she obviously is not a dog lover then the vet felt the need to tell us that we should keep the dog on a short leash because of other dogs in the office well there was not one animal in the waiting room when we were in there I was offended and then the vet tried to sell us everything she could obviously trying to make a buck so between shots, heartworm pills and flea medicine we walked out after paying $400.00. We will not be going back. So I had to take my dog to the vet and I took our dog to the Macungie Vet and they are wonderful every single person that worked there had a love for dogs. Maple Hills made us put a muzzle on the dog and Macungie Vet did not they knew how to work with him and I have found our new vet. I wanted to add this so anyone that has posted disappointment for Maple Hills would have another option. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE!!! Countless times we brought our beloved husky to Maple Hills, trying to figure out what was wrong with him. They told us it was allergies and got us to buy the most expensive dog foods, we didn't care because it was worth it to make him better. We did everything they said (I'm 99% certain they make a commission off of certain pet foods). They promised us they did bloodwork, come to find out they NEVER did. They told us to routinely come back and then would CANCEL the appointments day of. They made his life miserable and they did not help us at all. We had an appointment to go to a different vet but he didn't make it. He was completely healthy at the beginning of this year. And now my dog is dead. My dog is dead because of Maple Hills Veterinary Hospital. This is not the first time I've heard of this at Maple Hills and I know they've had other locations close down for mysterious reasons. Saved my dogs skin after 3 years of too many anti biotics prescribed by another vet, Dr. Abby and Dr. Tyler have helped my Keeshonds skin immensely. They have always been honest and have my dogs health come first. After a few trials of medicine, we decided together to try a different food. Maple Hills saved my cat's life! She's 3 and was experiencing some nausea. Was given antibiotics and anti nausea meds. I came home to find her having a grand mal seizure! They diagnosed her with diabetic ketoacidosis (extremely rare for such a young cat) and brought her back for me :) Nurse Hillary kept me posted even sending me a pic once she woke up via text. The doctors informed me of everything and are helping me with her care plan to get her back to normal. read more

I have gone to this place for many years, but think it is time for a change. The head doctor/owner died Feb '18 and on several occasions it appears to be poorly managed. Last night I went there to pick up my dog who got her teeth cleaned. Bill was over $700! When I balked, the attendant went over each charge - and found one charge of $100 had been double-billed. Plus they usually don't charge for nail trim if you get teeth cleaned. So I got the bill lowered to $590. Still WAY TOO MUCH for this service! No apology for the overcharge was ever given. Like the other reviewers have noted, you are often left in the waiting room way past your scheduled time. Some of the workers at the front desk are VERY nice - others are clueless. I think you can do better elsewhere. read more

My puppy needed urgent care. Staff gave me appt right away. Greeted by friendly staff. Opportuniy to speak directly with vet. was really great as miscommunications can easily occur when information is passed along. My puppy received excellent care & i was well informed of his xray results & treatment plan. I intend to continue bringing my puppy to this vet. read more

Great animal hospital and boarding facility. Gave my big boy great care and gave him all the shots he needed on the spot. He also got tested for some things and we caught some problems early enough to get him healthy. By far better than other places I've tried. I can't wait to take my boy back for his vacation. I went here for 13 YEARS for routine visits, always paid my bill in full. I had an emergency with my cat who had a kidney problem but was told she needed her teeth cleaned?? She ended up dying, and leaving me with a high unexpected bill. It took me awhile to pay this with numerous threatening phone calls and letters from them. Then a Sheriff serves me with papers 2 weeks AFTER I PAID THE BILL. i WILL never GO BACK THERE. Like a previous person said "I wouldn't take a stuffed animal there." read more

If you love your animal do NOT bring them here!! I brought in my elderly dog to have checked out because he had a cough, almost $2000 in nonsense I was charged. Added to that, they want the entire payment up front when you come to pick up your animal.(I was not told this) I am a 19 years old and work at a gas station. I don't make much. So I ended up not seeing my dog for TWO WEEKS. TWO WEEKS THEY KEPT MY DOG FROM ME WITH THE PRICE OF BOARDING MAKING THE OVER ALL PRICE GO UP EACH DAY. I called everyday crying asking to please speak with the doctor who treated him so we can work out some payment plan. HE AVIODED EVERY CALL I MADE. "Oh he's not in right now." "Oh he's in surgery." "Oh he's at lunch." For twelve consecutive days the doctor would not return my call. I finally got my dog back by begging a relative of mine to pay the bill for me. That's exactly the problem, Jan H. We did ask ahead for the cost because it was a problem. We were told to file for their credit card, but that was a problem as well. When you are short on funds you don't have credit and you don't want to be opening another card. We also called several times and were told that the person we were speaking to couldn't give that information and that the doctor or financial person would call back. They did not. We asked how much it was to keep the cat overnight but didn't get a response. Instead, we were told that you don't take someone to the ER and ask how much it will cost. But this was a cat, not a person. Sometimes you have make hard decisions. Especially when you are struggling to feed the family and pay the utility bills. We were also told that we obviously didn't care about the cat. So if there are a number of complaints about how the office is managed financially, that should tell you something. read more

I have a new puppy, and wanted to select a vet that had a hospital attached, onsite boarding available & if possible, several locations. I currently have a dog & cats & had been looking for a new vet that checked all those boxes. I called & booked an appt. for first puppy shots. 2 days before the appt. she developed conjunctivitis. I called at 8:00am, explained the problem & that she had an appt. in 2 days. Even though I was not technically a client yet, they said come in at 9am that day. I did, they gave me cream & the problem was resolved. We pushed back the shot appt. to the following week to make sure the eye was healed. Then I came home & read the yelp reviews. I was pretty surprised, and not very happy. I debated contacting a new vet, but decided to keep my appt., go for the eye follow up & shot visit & decide after that. The shot visit (Schnecksville-closer for me) went great-I did wait close to 20 minutes, but the vet tech & Dr. gave me great service. Puppy did not feel a thing. He also gave me some training advice & answered all my puppy questions. Last night I went for her 2nd shot visit, (3rd visit total) to the Kessler road location. I was shown to the patient room within 5 minutes & the Dr. arrived almost immediately. He reviewed the previous 2 visits with me, (different Dr.) asked me some questions & also answered a few more questions regarding rabies vaccines, 1 year versus 3 year. 3 shots, microchip & office visit total was $136.85. The first shot visit for 2 shots was $73.46. Both close to the amount I was expecting to pay based on quotes from several places. The best thing was when I left, the waiting room was full of people picking up & dropping off their pets for boarding, and regular office visits. I hung around and talked for a bit (everyone loves a puppy), and everyone there also seemed to be having a positive experience. I am happy that I now have a new vet that checks all my boxes, & I've learned a valuable lesson, Do Not let other reviews decide for me, check it out myself & then form my opinion. read more

Dr B is the most caring, dedicated veterinarian. My 11 year old lab had a malignant tumor. The Emmaus Animal hospital first took a biopsy, causing an open wound, then insisted we amputate his leg. We took our dog to Maple Hills for a second opinion. Dr B removed the tumor, made himself available after hours, even called after the surgery to let us know how our dog was-at 2:45 am. Our dog had a few rounds of chemo and a year later, he runs around like a puppy. Quality veterinary care isn't cheap. The cost was reasonable and we have our dog-in one piece. Use when needed outside of preventative maintenance for my dog. Had almost two hour wait without explanation last visit. Made an appointment yesterday for today and door locked upon arrival. After I called and spoke to the answering service, an older gentleman allowed me in and when a gal arrived 15 minutes later I was told I had no appointment when I made it just yesterday. Also told by answering service she would contact the Dr on call to contact me, it's been an hour and 1/2, and nothing. Got up early and had over an hour drive during rush hour, and my pup had to go through being driven which upsets him for a whole lot of nothing. Will NEVER go back to this place! read more

I would not take a stuffed animal there. I took my dog in, who was not eating. $2000 worth of surgery and x-rays later he was no better and getting worse by the day . I took him to another vet and they told me had cancer nearly everywhere and were shocked that he had had x-rays at another vet and they had either missed or ignored it. They don't care about your pet, just your money. My poor dog suffered needlessly thanks to them. I will never ever go back and will warn other pet owners who care about their pets to stay away. read more

I am finally writing this review because I was too emotional and filled with much anger of the negligence experienced when I boarded my English Setter in late June. When I picked up my dog from their kennel she was gravely ill and I had sought medical attention from my vet. Somehow my dog was exposed to a chemical and had severe burns on her tongue and mouth. She needed to be hospitalized and her health was "touch and go" for nearly 3 weeks. She still has terrible scars on her tongue which is a constant reminder of her horrible ordeal at this kennel! I have been trying repeatedly to speak with the owner but have had no success! I guess my next step is to seek legal advice and contact the SPCA to make them aware of my dog's treatment while being boarded. read more

Very nice facility. The vets are top notch. However, the wait times are sooooo long. At least an hour. There's only 1 vet covering appointments and emergencies, and he does a good job trying to keep, but the support staff doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry. My animals get so stressed out due to the long waits. Last time, I waited an hour to see vet, he made a plan to do shots and labwork, then I waited another 1/2 hour for the shots to be done. We recently took our cat there a couple of times in a month to get down to the bottom of possible cystitis. The staff there shows absolutely no respect for your time. Both times we ended up spending at least 3+ hours for one appointment. The staff either leaves you in the waiting room or in an exam room for up to 45 min to an hour with no update. Both times we had to check at the desk to make sure we were not forgotten, were reassured that they'll get to us soon and then spent another 15-20 minutes waiting. It was ridiculous. Then, once you are ready to pay up and get whatever prescription is necessary - you wait another 15-20 minutes while the staff rings you up and get the meds at a glacial pace, redoing incorrect billing, etc, etc. I don't know if they were on qualudes or just incompetent. On top of all this, at the second appt., after being told they would up the dosage to cure our cat, my husband came home with another bottle of pills of the same dosage as the last time. WILL NEVER GO BACK. read more

Dr. B. will not return phone calls, even those he face-to-face promises, without your having to makes several calls to the clinic inquiring why you haven't received a callback, if he even chooses to call at all. This lax attitude even applies with regards to laboratory test results. I got the impression from one of his receptionists that this is pretty typical. Also, he will tell you one thing during the appointment and then tell you something totally different (and opposing) at the next. Example - this usually doesn't cause x - this can certainly cause x. We can try x - I never said we could try x. He gets the job done as far as running the correct tests, but I'm not very confident of his judgment overall because of the aforementioned. He's a friendly doc with a nice personality, seems to do well handling pets, but once you leave the office you're left wondering if he truly cares about your pet. We recently took our 5 yr old pug here when we were getting nowhere with his treatment for constant itching and nodules on his face and head at his regular veterinarian. Dr. Ken took the time to examine the nodules and ask us a lot of questions concerning the itching. He did agree with our pugs current vet that the itching was probably allergy related. However, he suggested skin scrapping to see what the actual nodules were and also a test to find out what specific antibiotic he needed. His current vet kept refilling a steroid for him for his itching. At this point he was on his 3rd refill with no progress. And also during his exam the Dr discovered that he had pink eye and an ear infection. Our other vet didn't even suggest seeing him. We left our appointment with an broad based antiobiotic, a soothing face spray with a numbing agent to help with the scraping area and an anti-itch medicine. With 2 days our pug was back to his old happy self. Playing, eating and enjoying his life. I am VERY happy with the service we received and will continue going to Maple Hills. read more

The male doctor does not care what so ever about your pet. Brought in my 10 month old OES because he's very sick and thought he had a blockage. They did an x-ray and it appears there may be one. So now they're running another test to see where it is. I asked about payment and they told me they don't do payments. Spoke to the doctor directly and offered my mortgage payment as down money ($1200) plus the $300 I had to put down for them to run this test. He looked me right in my tear soaked eyes and told me he'd let my dog die if I didn't have all the money to pay up front and then gave some lame excuse about the economy and "his suppliers that he's had for 40 years want payment right away" as if the $1500 wouldn't cover the supplies. Then he turned and walked away from me. I'll whore myself out for the money if I have to because I won't let my baby die but I will NEVER bring another one of my pets here. Did I mention I've taken my pets there for years and spent hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars there already...disgusting. read more
