Went on 01/13/2020 at 1130AM. Ordered the Spinach Pie & a biscuit. My wife ordered 2 eggs sunny side up,hash browns, hash & pancakes. Nice waitress. She came back & said-" We are out of Spinach Pie would you like anything else?" I said-"no thanks!" She came back in a very short time with our order. She brought me a biscuit with butter & my wife's order. My biscuit was still FROZEN! My wife's eggs & hash browns were cold. The pancakes & hash were warm. When she finally came back around I told here my biscuit was cold as was my wife's eggs,etc. I don't know who is running the kitchen but I bet if Chef Ramsay came in undercover the place would get SLAMMED! read more

Double Yolk is very good! I had the Italian Skillet, which had nice crispy hashbrowns, italian sausage, green peppers, onions, and mozzarella cheese. One of the best skillets I have ever had. My girlfriend had the California Eggs Benedicts, topped with avocado and ham. I was jealous that I did not pick this because it looked really good. Got the protein plate and stuffed french toast. Protein plate had a large chicken breast, maybe 14oz. A few eggs, and a large, actually appetizing, fruit plate. The chicken was a tad dry, but if I'm getting something called the "Protein Plate," I'd rather have it that way vs cooked in a bunch of butter. The stuffed french toast was pretty good. Ordered make your own skillet with eggs over easy. The eggs were so overcooked the yolks were hard like a hard boiled egg. Had a side Blintz with strawberries, there were 6 half slices of very small strawberries, so it was $1.99 extra for 3 small strawberries. Very expensive breakfast to be served food that was not as ordered. Called to talk to someone man answered he did not identify himself but told me eggs overcooked when they were sitting on skillet. And that I should ask for eggs separate. Those eggs could not have gone from over easy to hard from sitting on skillet. I let him know those eggs were way overcooked prior to being on skillet. I am a fan of this breakfast joint. Today, March 11. 2017, was my second visit here and I arrived at approximately 9am. There were a lot of people but the restaurant is large so there was no wait. I had a lovely server that was pouring coffee for us while we were still taking our coats off! She was attentive and helpful. Everything was correct and tasted delicious. The menu is so large (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) so there is something for everyone. I have only ordered breakfast items but their lunch and dinner items are quite extensive. Typical Greek owned breakfast place, but this place has quality control, so you know that if you order the same thing - no surprises. Hoping for a nice breakfast on fathers day.. expected large crowd. That's ok.. but it took dbl time to get in and then the worst. The waitress took forever to place our order. Let that go.. then it took an hour to get eggs. Never will return. My eggs and bacon were cold my sons was steaming. Crepes nothing to rave about, frozen fruit. Waitress had a lame excuse.. the restaurant was starting to clear by the time we got our order. I loooove coming here for breakfast. This previous weekend I breakfasted with my two sister-in-laws for our monthly get together. This time, it was my turn to choose where to go. We ended up grabbing a late breakfast/early lunch. Now, I usually bounce between either the Hawaii Five-O, Blueberry Crepes, or the Cinnamon Apple Crepes. All delicious in their own right, I wanted to change things up a bit. Show off a bit in front of the girl. Hahaha. Well, I decided on the Large German Pancake and let me say this... it was FANTASTIC! The thing was HUGE,as well as delicious. Definitely made an impression. One of my sister-in-laws decided on the Apple Crepe (after my suggestion). She said she had a new favorite item. My other sister-in-law decided to change it up and grab some Lunch instead. This sister-in-law ended up eating the Chicken Pesto Panini. I was a huge fan of this place when they first opened. They have just consistently gone down hill since then though. The service is friendly but the food always has an off taste to me. So, I've enjoyed coming to Double Yolk intermittently thought the years, but the overall experience is just not as good as it once was. First of all, it got dirty and it seems to be in need of maintenance. The ceiling fans have dust hanging off of them, the material on the booths have gotten worn down and need replacing, and it's just gotten kind of dirty. Today, there were used napkins on the floor of the booth we were seated at and a chunk of food on the one side of the seat. We came for a late lunch, and the place was pretty empty. They play god awful music- creepy ballads and whatnot that are hard to ignore, especially when there weren't a lot of people in there to drown out the noise. The manager:owner? came out and started yelling at an employee for banging on her office door- from across the restaurant. It was a little awkward. The waitress was nice and relatively attentive. However, the food came to us cold, but it was still pretty good so we didn't complain. About the food- I no longer get omelettes because they've been undercooked in the center on more than one occasion, and I've ended up getting sick. I honestly don't know why I keep going back because it's really gone downhill. read more

Our breakfast club has been to many places in the Mokena/New Lenox area and this one does not rank among the top. The food sounds good but the taste doesn't live up to expectations. After waiting for what seemed like forever for breakfast, I ordered scrambled eggs and they came poached. The waitress was nice enough to take it back to the kitchen and was able to turn around some fresh scrambled eggs in just a few minutes but still. Well it's the youngest daughters birthday and she decides she wants breakfast food for her meal. First she says she either wants to go to Eggcetera or Lumes in the Mokena and Frankfort area. Both would be very fine choices for a breakfast type of meal. But we end up running very late this Sunday morning/afternoon and she changes her mind and decides on the Double Yolk. We start by ordering the Saganaki for $5.95, flaming cheese and it was so good and crispy. We cut it into four pieces and truly enjoyed ourselves. It's been a while since we have had Saganaki and it truly hit the spot. My son and I both ordered the Greek Skirt Steaks, both medium well, I have raised him well. The order came with some delicious Green Beans too. I also received the Chicken Rice soup that reminded me of a Greek Lemon soup. It was really good. I also received rice and a side of bacon. My son received potatoes with his skirt steak. My wife ordered the Cheese Blintzes for $6.35 for an order. She says she gets these every time we eat here. She just loves them so much. Actually she loves the crape and not the sweet cheese so much. She also ordered a side of bacon too. My youngest daughter, the birthday girl, ordered a Ham and Cheese Omelet for $7.35 an order. This came with Hash Brown potatoes and she received a side of bacon too. Also our super friendly and sweet waitress Christy gave my birthday daughter a free Blueberry muffin for her birthday. The staff sang her happy birthday and it was very nice of them. Well for the very friendly service and delicious tasting food our bill came to roughly $80 dollars. We waited a very long time (after they said the wait was 10-15 minutes) and we had my son's football game to get to. Once we were seated it took forever to get a server, she brought the wrong food to my husband and then when we were finished eating and ready to pay and leave, she was nowhere to be found. My husband went to the washroom with our boys and noticed she was outside smoking. She came in and didn't wash her hands but to make matters worse, she sprayed perfume on herself in the restaurant. She was standing in the area where the coffee, silverware and cups are located. It's right next to booths and tables...who wants to have perfume and the smell of cigarettes on their server with dirty hands. We came in Sunday for breakfast around 10:30am. The wait area was overcrowded, so we lingered near the door. The hostess curtly told us to move to the wait area. The owner asked us to follow him, got distracted, then asked us what we were doing. One of the wait staff was eating at the counter 10 feet away from our table, and was intermittently serving food without washing her hands. My wife's food was cold. My food was fine. Our waitress tried really hard but much of the staff was flat out rude. When asked how the food was at the register, I responded with "Oh, it was fine." The cashier didn't ask what could be better. This place is going downhill, I'm sad to say. Give your money to another local restaurant. read more

Hard to believe this restaurant is not jammed packed all the time. I always thought it was just a breakfast place and boy was I wrong. I've been coming here now on a regular basis for at least 6-8 months. The staff is always friend and prompt. I own a business and trying to satisfy all the people all the time is tough and especially in this type of business is hard, but I believe they do an excellent job. As I said I've been coming here now for a while and it's hard to believe a few of these bad reviews. Diner love the Greek skirt steaks (tender not like shoe leather) and potatoes, soups are excellent, hot turkey diner is another one, stuffed avocado...yum Breakfast be prepared to eat a lot and as far as the comment of being to crowded. Good food has a tendency to bring in a lot of people and they do get crowded on the weekends for breakfast. Service has always been great and worth the wait. So far this is the best breakfast place we have tried in the area. Clean, friendly staff and good service. The food was really good. My husband loves getting eggs Benedict when we go out for breakfast because it's such a pain to make at home. He said it was excellent and could tell the sauce was home made, not the packaged stuff some breakfast places use. We will definitely be back.
