Usually the people working there have been very helpful. However I went there the other day with a straight forward question. After he handed me an obviously wrong size he became very upset and frustrated. As if I was the one with the problem. He was very rude and eventually just walked away from me. This place is AMAZING! Everyone is super helpful and they were really sweet to my toddler the few times I brought her with me. The selection is great and they are very knowledgeable. For some things, they may not have the lowest price, but you definitely feel more confident about your project after leaving Maple Leaf ACE compared to some of the 'big brand' stores. They've got bike lights and flashlights, paint, seasonal products, and all of the home improvement stuff you'll ever need. All of the people that work there are very friendly. Get some coffee from Cloud City Cafe, go to Maple Leaf Park to walk around, and then go to ACE Hardware. You won't be disappointed. read more

The employees at this Ace are the nicest flippin' people around: helpful, kind, patient and determined to get to the bottom of all my home improvement questions. I have totally used a single employee before as my personal shopping assistant in the store and they were only too happy to accompany me in gathering my listed items one by one. Their selection of products is impressive (they even have lumber) for the size of the store and the prices are totally reasonable. I signed up for an Ace Rewards Card which I was hesitant to do, but I never get SPAM from them! :D However, I totally DO get coupons regularly to use in the store toward general purchases which is so nice! Trying to think of a constructive criticism but can't, really. I really like this store. read more

It's really great that neighborhood hardware stores like this still exist. I love being able to buy screws, etc by the piece, instead of buying a box or bag of them when I only need 2. This is a great hardware store. They have just enough of everything you need, and the people are very friendly. The aisles are clean and organized, and nothing seems to be out of place or a mess as you shop. Te brands that they carry are actually good, rather than "bargain" level brands that are sub par and generic. Since moving here a few months ago, we have used the Maple Leaf Ace Hardware almost every week. Each time i've gone in the staff has been helpful, knowledgeable and quick to find exactly what I need. They tend to have small selections of options, but they carry some of the best stuff. I have gotten advice on everything from landscaping services near my house to electrical repair, weatherproofing, bbq maintenance, and much more. I will continue to use this store as my first stop for anything remotely related to hardware, housewares or home maintenance. read more

I love this hardware store. It is run so beautifully well. The management obviously takes incredible pride in what they do because they hire really great people and they are always so helpful! If they don't have what I need, they usually have a nice recommendation to offer. And the paint department is tops. Josh is the mad genius of mixing paint. He can match any color I throw him...and quickly! He can do in 15 minutes what has taken me half a day elsewhere. Best hardware store in town, hands down. Wish we could clone them! read more

I was in this store for less than 10 minutes, but in that time I had no fewer than three separate employees come by and ask me if I needed help finding anything. As a woman, I'm very appreciative of knowledgeable help when it comes to buying tools and hardware! I left the store with exactly what I needed and nothing extra. Welcome to the store you didn't think existed anymore! Somehow there's always a place to park without trekking across a lot the size of Rhode Island. Magically they always or almost always have exactly what you're looking for even though they are tiny compared to the Big Box Monsters. And most amazing of all: they are well staffed with people who really do know their stuff and who are genuinely helpful. Went there to see if they had lock cutters to cut the lock off of my spare tire holder.... Needed it for only 30 seconds as the car was in the parking lot and they still charged me $11.00 rental fee... Should have just bought my own... Never going back there again read more

I am astounded at how helpful the staff is here. It's actually one of the rare times I enjoy going to the hardware store (and we go a lot).

In terms of service, this is the best hardware store you'll find around town. Enough staff work here to ensure that the lines move fast and that any questions you might have are answered in a timely fashion. The selection is pretty good as well, and for a medium-sized hardware store, they have impressive plumbing section. I do have to ding them a little, as the prices run a little bit steep here, compared even to other local hardware stores. However, such is the price for service. Highly recommended. read more

It's very rare that I'm not asked by at least two staff members if they can help me -- even when I know exactly where I'm going. They even have treats for my dog. Absolutely the best local hardware store around. The staff is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable without being pushy. They'll help you on whatever project you're looking to do, and the store has a surprising variety of hardware and other useful stuff. Sign up for the rewards program and you'll reguarly get some nice discounts. I find my visits here to take far less time than wandering around the "big" stores, even accounting for the fact that I constantly find myself browsing the aisles for that one or two things that aren't on my list, you know, I but might want anyways. read more

I use to live next door to this hardware store so I'm kind of bias about it. It is one of the nicest neighborhood hardware stores in North Seattle. While it is compact there is great variety of both hardware and household Items. It is located on Roosevelt St in the Maple Leaf neighborhood next to Reckless Video and across from the Snappy Dragon with parking up front and on the street. There are more restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops that are 4 to 5 stars in the area, but I thought I'd just stick with ACE for a bit. After all were else can you get cookie cutters, a door lock, and go to a nice place to eat all within one block of each other. Prices are higher than Lowes but you get a quality product with good customer service. read more

This place has the BEST STAFF!!! So many times I've been frustrated in other stores not finding what I want. This won't ever happen in this store!!! These guys are all about customer service. I frequent places that give great customer service, and you won't find it better anywhere else!! They also have an amazing selection of things. I ended up buying a whole lot more than I came in for, just because they have a huge selection of high quality things that I can't find elsewhere. I love wandering around this store. I love being able to have my questions answered. I love not having to wait in long lines. This store always has plenty of staff to help. These guys had the really unusual light bulb that I couldn't find anywhere else, and I didn't have to walk through a huge store for 20 minutes to get a lightbulb. Love this place! read more

I've only been to this Ace location twice, both times to find a type of screw. It was so incredibly easy. On both occasions, I'd walk in with an example of what I needed and say that I needed either a longer screw, or one with a smaller head. As follow the salesperson to the screw aisle, I'm overwhelmed with the wall of screws on either side. He takes a look at the screw and says "it looks metric", walks up to a screw finder/sizer thingamajig and finds the right fit and within 2 minutes I'm holding the right screws in my hand. The people here are really friendly too! I'm not sure about anything else at Ace but if you have a screw related problem and aren't mr. fix-it (i am not), they've got the knowledge without dealing with the enormous stores like home depot. read more

This store is very special because of the quality of the staff, and that it is very generously staffed. I had a terrible bathroom paint dilemma which required a lot of consultation and changes. Linda, who also happens to have an B.A. in Art and knows a lot about color, went through an exhausting number of options. My paint color situation was so confounding for me that she actually did a house call. While house calls are not part of the regular services offered by Ace Hardware, it was an example exceptional service given to a long-time customer. If you appreciate knowledgeable staff that does not turn over much, this is a store worth that is worth traveling to. read more
