I like this little coffee shop in Barrington. I lived in Ravenswood until last year and you could find a coffee shop every few blocks. Then moved to the northwest side and there's practically none--unless it's a Starbucks--so it's nice to see an independent shop in a cute little downtown. The chai wasn't bad, service was friendly, and the shop was cute and clean. There were lots of folks hanging out inside and at their nice outdoor space as well. They have several different types of seating, from big comfy chairs to tables big and small, and there are some counter-height seats by the window as well. This place rules, three hour public parking, cute vintage corner offering lovely staff and a lot of space, and I enjoyed a couple hours here with good wifi and outlets near my table. I noticed many others plopped down for a study, work, and chat. The menu has all sorts, good coffee craft, espresso balanced right in my latte, and would definitely recommend for a date, second date, will need a third just to try all the best drinks! read more

The old Cook Street Coffee has always been a Barrington stop for me when I drop my bike off at Cyclewerks right down the street. It's a cozy corner spot with great coffee and a genuine neighborhood feel, but the new expanded, remodeled space keeps all of that authenticity while finally giving us patrons the room we need to spread out , with more seating, a more open layout, and an updated while slightly retro interior that makes hanging out easier. I love it that they've done this without losing any of the familiar community vibe that made the original so loved. I'm still coming back! read more

No shade to the corporate big names, but the local shop is what I love. Cook Street is a Conscious Cup cafe - a personal favorite in my own hometown. This location didn't disappoint. Friendly service, great coffee, and a wonderful vibe. Very demure. Very mindful. We snagged a spot outside, nice tables and chairs with shade umbrellas for those of us who want fresh air with limited UV exposure. read more

Cook Street Coffee in Barrington is apart of the Conscious Cup group. This was my first time being to the shop since they expanded to the space next door and renovated. Previously, the shop ended where the coffee counter stops. It was great to see the addition of seating (tables, banquets, lounge chairs, sofas, decor) to mimic some of their other locations and allow patrons to enjoy drinks there. My absolute favorite drink is the Honey Lavender Latte Iced. They use fresh lavender and local honey to flavor the drink and it really pulls through! I also got a savory scone which was quite large and tasty. Unfortunately when I came, the staff was overwhelmed with the influx of people so they were temporarily not making any of their breakfast sandwiches. This was definitely a disappointment but hopefully with time they will balance out staffing knowing people can come to work and meet up with friends. Overall, I love what they've done to update the space and add a sense of comfort. I highly recommend stopping by when in the area for a yummy drink! You won't be disappointed. read more

Big fan of this spot! I was here with a friend on a Friday morning and it was nice to see this place kept consistently busy. We ordered at the front counter and the staff member was friendly and helpful. I meant to order the spiced chai however I probably misspoke and ended up with a regular chai latte (oat milk) instead. It was very good! Flavors were strong and not too heavy on the oat milk. I wanted to try a breakfast sandwich but ended up with a spinach, bacon and cheese scone. They were short staffed and decided to not make sandwiches because of that. No problem! The scone was delicious - thankfully they were on display and we were able to pick which 1 we wanted. A few of them looked slightly overcooked so we stayed clear of those. There is so much natural sunlight coming in and numerous spots to sit or lounge - high tops, standard seating, bench seating by the windows and lazy boys/couches. They also have a few outdoor tables/seats. This is a great spot for a coffee date, huddle up with your laptop or read a book. Cook Street Coffee gives off a very relaxing and welcoming vibe. I'm excited to coming back and try other items on their menu soon. :) read more

Coffee, donuts, service - great! Seating - not enough (though under construction) The ambience of the place is comfortable with an independent-business feel. I like that the traffic here wasn't so slammed like at the 'bux down the street. The people working seemed to know their customers, so it felt like there was some loyalty here. Price-wise, I was hoping for something more competitive to the other local options, but it's not a huge difference. That said, I will come here more often to avoid the traffic and chaos at the 'bux. read more

Cook Street prices have increased while the quality and consistency has gone down. Ordered a small 12 oz drink and literally got 8oz (measured at home)!! At $7-8 bucks a drink, fill the cup!! The sandwich quality has gone down as well. The ratio of sauce, toppings and meat is less; making the sandwich less enjoyable. If you're raising your prices, don't skimp on quality. My sister wears by their chai and after tasting it, I'm a fan too! The chai I had was creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness, and you could taste the blend of spices really well. Nothing was too overpowering and it was made it just a few short minutes. The interior is newly expanded and looks like a relaxing place to sit and enjoy your drinks if you are dining in. I'd definitely go here again for more tea and to try their coffee drinks. read more

My wife, kids and I have been coming here for years now. Our daughters favorite spot when we are in town. Great service.

This was our first time here and I really like the vibe of the place. The music was at a reasonable level to have a chat with people or read/study and the lighting is great in almost any spot you pick to sit. I appreciated this so much because dim lighting makes it difficult for me to read. This place was very clean and well kept, and there was so much seating! I was shocked by the space and options. And lastly, their drinks were delicious. We went with about half the syrup for both of our drinks which was plenty sweet for us and they were made perfectly. Their Conscious Cup coffee really makes for pleasant drinks. We will definitely be back! read more

Absolutely obsessed with this spot. Cute inside & has a small patio. The coffee is delicious and so are the breakfast sandwiches. I usually get the Vanilla Ella with honey & my husband gets either their nitro cold brew or Seventh Heaven. Coffee is smooth and the flavors are divine. Everyone who works there is super nice. This place has the best coffee in the area. I came in one day and wanted something with sugar free syrup. The baristas working that day were extremely friendly and helped in explaining the different options and giving suggestions. They definitely made my day. I ended up getting the sugar free vanilla latte and they told me they could sweeten it with stevia so I got that. my boyfriend ordered the caramel vanilla latte. The caramel vanilla was amazing. Good amount of sweetness and flavor is great. He keeps wanting to come back for another. The sugar free vanilla blew my mind. I was shocked that a sugar free syrup could taste so natural and good. Whenever I get the sugar free vanilla Starbucks syrup I'm disappointed and feel like you can taste the artificial sweetener but I was told they make their own syrups at conscious cup and they definitely do it well!! The best sugar free latte I've ever had. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars is an experience I had a few days later (we've had quite a few visits in the past week because they're just that good). We ordered the usual, and when I asked them to add stevia, the barista that day pointed to the napkin/sweetener bar and said they had sweetener over there. That really upset me because it's not that hard to open up a pack of stevia and dump it in my coffee. When they make the lattes, they pour the espresso, milk and ice back and forth into cups to mix it and it would've been nice to have my sweetener mixed up with that process. I had to go get a packet of sweetener, undo the lid, pour it in, and then get a coffee stirrer to try to mix it all in without spilling my coffee over the top. While waiting for the next train, I decided to pop into Cook Street Coffee for a bite to eat. What - a non coffee drinker in a coffee shop? Yes indeed, turned out to be a good place to kill some time, do a spot of work, and eat. Nice to check out a local place rather than a huge chain location. I ordered a panini, in this case a grilled English muffin sandwich. It had Denver omelet ingredients including ham, egg, cheese, onion and green pepper. It was a fairly substantial breakfast-style sandwich, though I was having this for my lunch. It was prepared quickly for my consumption. There is a variety of seating to drink your coffee, and some cool art on the walls too. I'm rarely in this area, but now I know this cozy venue to visit. read more
