Moroni's - Nice Small Town Pizza
    Todd V.

Let me tell you a little something about small town pizza. It is not a gourmet item. It does not have a thin crust. It does not have ingredients like smoked salmon, pine nuts, or pesto. It is not made in a stone oven. It comes with a thick crust, an abundant amount of tangy tomato sauce, has basic ingredients, and is topped with approximately three-and-a-half pounds of any cheese you want so long as it's mozzarella. This isn't Genoa. It's Gananoque. Whenever I think of small town pizza and how you sometimes need to shut off the gourmet valve a bit and just get down and dirty, the Moroni Special is the first thing that comes to mind. There are other things on the menu that come with similar cheese abundance (the lasagne comes to mind), but the pizza is the go-to slice in mind. Tons of cheese, real bacon, a nice tasty pepperoni, and the sausage, unapologetically, is sliced up breakfast sausage. Do not knock it until you try it. You're able to get delivery or pick-up, but with a newly renovated restaurant front, you'll be able to enjoy your pizza with a couple of drafts if you fancy. The patio outside is one of the only main street patios in town, which is fantastic on a sunny day. Not a bad pizza place considering it's owned by a Greek guy. Oh, you can try the souvlaki as well if you fancy. I'll stick with the pie.

Awesome food. This restaurant went out of its way to accommodate our very large (24) group. These days it's tough with COVID to find a place that can hold that many. Thank you MoronI's. The staff was amazingly friendly and very accommodating. Our evening supper went off without a hitch. We would recommend over and over again. Stay safe.

Nice decoration with Greek statue replica.

Should have read the reviews before eating here. How much more effort could it take to serve fresh, hot food with a smile?

We entered the pizzeria with a service dog in training and were immediately confronted by a small dog that was completely loose and growling at the dog I was training. My dog stood still and did not vocalize or lunge back. Someone who worked there then came out and yelled at us to leave because dogs are not allowed. My dog was wearing a vest from the non-profit organization that he is from that identifies him as a service dog in training. As a service dog in training he is not covered under ADA, which I fully understand and respect. However, I am typically at least given the opportunity to explain that I am training the dog, and once the establishment understands the situation and sees that my dog follows all the same rules as a service dog, access is typically allowed. My issue with this place is not that we were denied access but the way the situation was handled. I understand that people bringing their pets with them everywhere and the entitlement that sometimes comes along with that is a problem. I understand and actually appreciate strict no pet policies, and respect a businesses decision not to allow a service dog in training. But, the fact that there is a confrontational dog completely loose in the pizzeria while being yelled at to leave because dogs aren't allowed did not sit well with me. I always try and put myself in the shoes of someone who is blind or has a disability that requires the use of a service dog, and after experiencing how we were treated I did not want to support this business so we ended up getting pizza elsewhere. It was a very unfortunate experience. Hopefully the dog is much friendlier to people, but even still, not everyone wants to be greeted by a loose dog nor do they want a dog loose in a place they will be dining.
