This is my fourth or fifth time here and I've been impressed every single time. The value is crazy good. The food is delicious. It's fresh. They give you a lot. The people are super nice. They seem to really care about what they're doing. The management comes around to make sure everything's good. If it isn't. They make corrections which they've done. The service was fine. The girl at the front of the restaurant talking orders was very nice and polite. There wasn't many gluten free items to choose from. But the food was good and was out quick. Today I had the pleasure of visiting a Maple St. Co. in Tampa. It was a great experience starting with the initial interaction with the front staff. It's great to know that a friendly smile and a courteous salutation still goes a long way, especially in a world where customer service has lost its luster. I wish I would've taken their names because I certainly appreciated the personal guidance given when I mentioned it was my first time visiting and had high expectations given the great Yelp reviews. Let me get to the food - delish! The Five and Dime really should be called "The Shiitake Gravy Five and a Quarter" given the amount of gravy, and the list of meats sitting between a sliced biscuit. If you finish this Man vs Food plate be sure to schedule an appointment with your cardiologist soon thereafter. We came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning, it had a consistent flow of customers coming and going but honestly wasn't overwhelmingly busy. The restaurant has cute decor, and plenty of seating. The food was good also - it's a little pricy in my opinion for the food that's being served, but it isn't bad food by any means. The iced coffee we ordered was wayyy too sweet, that was probably the 1 thing we definitely wouldn't order again. So I absolutely love Maple Street Biscuit Company - the reason for the 4 stars is that service and getting your food at this location takes a rather long time for a quick service restaurant. I also don't like the pick up counter sometimes people are hovering over the food that is not theirs. The Biscuits & Gravy are 10/10 stars! I always add a fried egg or 2! I opted to try the fried green tomatoes on this visit as well and I was not impressed. The tomato's are cut too thick. I wasn't a fan and probably would not order this side again. We decided to get take out one morning and were craving biscuits and gravy. My husband went and got it for us to enjoy at home. We got the Family Sized Biscuits and Gravy. We did not realize that you have to specify sausage gravy because we ended up with the shiitake mushroom gravy. The spiciness of the gravy was fantastic, but I happen to really dislike shiitake mushrooms. My husband was a happy camper since he likes shiitake mushrooms and ended up with all of the ones I picked out of my food. The portion of gravy was perfect for the six biscuits that come in the family size. I am sure we will get this again in the future. Food is usually good but biscuits have changed from what they used to be. They're thinner and have been lacking consistency. The shareable hash brown patties are also inconsistent and sometimes show up burnt and the ranch sauce is sometimes very spicy. The order process was a little disjointed which may just boil down to the young lady taking my order struggling a bit and then ultimately getting home with the incorrect order. The great news is Maple Street Biscuit Company isn't just about biscuits. I know, why go here if I wasn't planning on indulging in biscuits. That's what happens if you say you don't have an opinion about where to go for a birthday lunch (let me point out, this wasn't my only birthday lunch, so by this point I thought I didn't care about where we went.) The night before I ate a ton of carbs and just wasn't feeling another meal of carbs. I was worried that I would be out of luck, so I perused the menu before going. Luckily they have frittaffles, which aren't waffles, but omelets made in a waffle machine! Super random, but it was protein so I went with it. I got the peppers, onions & cheddar frittaffle. It was great, although I'm sure the biscuits would have been better. I also got a freshly squeezed orange juice and really enjoyed that. They were doing this cute thing where instead of your name you would tell them your favorite holiday tradition and they'd enter that to call your order. It was pretty funny listening to what other people's answers were. I think they should do this year-round with all types of questions. They also found out it was my birthday (could have been we were talking about it, could have been I was wearing a crown), so they gave us four free iced biscuits for dessert and I got a $10 gift card. This really took me off guard, I'm not used to any place crushing it with customer service like that. That's one way to make a customer for life out of me (good thing I actually want to continue coming to this place.) Parking is super easy, they have tons of spots outside. Don't bother ordering from this place. Unless you're sitting in the building, you will NOT get what you ordered, and/or NOT get all the food you paid for. This location has repeatedly taken our money and not given us everything, even when it is BLATANTLY VISIBLE on our receipt and already paid for. Only thing they're consistent with is making sure me or my girlfriend goes hungry, after waiting for an hour plus for food from a location less than 15 minutes away. Our first visit here and the food was very good, but we had several concerns with the cleanliness of the restaurant. Everything we touched seemed to be sticky, and the hand sanitizer dispenser was empty. The ice i dispensed into my cup had a piece of dirt in it. Not very appetizing. A "clean" fork was greasy. We wanted to sit outside on the patio, but the first three tables we tried had ants. Not just a few ants but many ants, apparently attracted by spilled jelly and crumbs, crawling across the table and on the condiment containers. We closely inspected a table at the other end of the patio and it appeared to be ant-free. At one point I accidentally dropped my drink lid and when I picked it up I saw quite a bit of trash on the patio floor. Lots of cigarette butts, pieces of trash, dirt, and grime. It looked like the patio had not been swept or cleaned for quite some time. We were there early in the day, and we were the only customers on the patio. Despite the cleanliness concerns, our food was very good. We both ordered the Risky Biscuit with mushroom gravy and fried green tomatoes. Loved the biscuits and gravy, and the fried green tomatoes were unique. The pepper jelly and maple butter were both delicious. I really wish I could give five stars for the food, but the lack of cleanliness in a restaurant definitely takes away from the dining experience. I would like to try more of the menu items so I will probably return. I just hope there will be a major cleaning of the restaurant first. read more

I used to really enjoy this place. I would order the five which had a fried chicken breast, bacon and sausage gravy over a biscuit. I loved the hash brown casserole with cheese. I would come here 4-5 times a year and it was great. I recently went back and discovered they changed their menu. Some of my favorites were gone. When I asked the woman at the register about it she was irritated with me and her answers were short. We ordered and ate and it was decent but definitely not the same. Today I ordered delivery. Two chicken fried steaks over biscuits with gravy. The delivery service came fast which was great. The fried steaks were super tiny and very tough and over-cooked. Next time stick to the chicken!! This is a good place for breakfast/brunch in the Carrollwood area. I ordered a coffee and a plain chicken biscuit. I was going to be eating my food in the car, so I couldn't order something that would drip everywhere or give me sticky fingers. Because I asked the staff about what to order to eat in the car, when my food was ready (in less than 5 minutes, very impressive but also indicative that things aren't made to order -- which is okay), the server told me that he heard I'd be eating in my car, so he cut down my chicken to make it easier to eat. Talk about good service! The chicken biscuit was good. The chicken was breaded in a very black pepper dominant spice blend. I liked it, but I could see my kids complaining that it was too spicy (even though they eat spicy foods all the time). It was good. I added some hot sauce, but it wasn't needed at all. The biscuit was good. Not too dry, not so flaky that it couldn't be eaten in a car. I'd be curious to try one of their specialty sandwiches. I appreciate that they use umami-rich shiitake mushrooms in their gravy. The coffee was also good. They have a bunch of different coffee options in the self-serve area. Most have some sort of maple flavor, which worried me since so many maple flavored things taste artificial or cloying. I found that the light amber coffee and the maple tap to have a nice blend with decent coffee flavor with a light hint of maple aftertaste. I don't live nearby to a MSBC, but the product is good, and the service I received was friendly and really over the top. I'll happily return if I'm in the area during breakfast time. read more
