I stay here every time I visit the area and i'm always satisfied! Rooms are very clean and tidy with beautiful furniture and accents. Great amenities like the pool, gym, and free breakfast. Although I will say for the breakfast sometimes it can get a bit messy so I would recommend they keep a better eye on that. Overall will continue to choose this hotel. read more

Admittedly, I was looking for a cheap place with a mattress, because I was going to spend the whole day in the office anyway. The room felt depressive. The decor, wall paper, carpet look so dead end, lifeless, cheap, and aged over 20 years or so. They could partner with a gun store and offer 10% discount on shot guns. I have been to other hotels on El Camino Real. They are all in the same class. One has a better AC. The other has a designer sink. This one disappoints across the board, except for the swimming pool. It's not a Vegas swimming pool. However, it is in a sheltered court yard and has inviting lounge chairs. It's the best pool in that area so far. The water pressure in the shower is a gentle mist. The room service set the radio alarm for 6 am. It must have been a mistake during cleaning. However, the loud music made me jump into the air. Presumably, the next room woke up as well. read more

I recently made a yelp account so I'd thought I'd leave a review for this horrible hotel . So this happened a while ago but, not too long ago . I had made a reservation on booking.com for this hotel for a time alone with my spouse . We got super excited knowing we were gonna spend our anniversary together alone . We get to the hotel , when I approach them the lady in the front starts giving us a bunch of attitude. I ignore for my sake of just wanting to check in . She then tells me I have to do a 50$ deposit . I told her that was not noted in my confirmation but, she can go ahead and take it from my visa . She then goes on saying it can't be on my visa only a credit card WHICH WASN'T NOTED IN THE CONFIRMATION DETAILS EITHER . At the moment I did not own a credit card because as a young adult was just starting to build my credit . I tell her I don't have a credit card to use only my debit she then pursued to tell me then I can't check In . I run out of that place balling my eyes out of frustration. I then tell my spouse to go back inside and cancel our reservation then . She goes on saying how they can't refund us if they cancel it , that I was still going to pay the full amount . I had to literally go through so many calls just to cancel my reservation. This was the WORST customer service I ever had at a hotel . I was staying in the area because i didn't want to drive to far for an event. The bed is very comfortable and many pillows, very clean rooms. One thing that I noticed that stood out was how they keep the remote for the TV clean, great perk!!! There is always apples out to eat, and I asked, and they have been washed. My worst stay in the bay area in 10 years of regular business travel to the area. So many things that are wrong with this hotel ...: A small package was delivered to the hotel for me during my stay. None of the staff notified me. I realized after I arrived back home. Called them and they refuse to mail it to me, despite the fact that I offered to pay for shipping (which should be cheap, this is a small package in an envelope). Given that it was their mistake I would have hoped that they would offer to send it to me at their cost, rather than completely refusing to mail it to me. When checking out the man at the front desk was sleeping behind the desk! A cab that I asked to be called for me never arrived. Yellow Cab claims they never received call from the hotel ordering a cab. Too many things that went wrong to tolerate a hotel that besides location has not much going for it (old interior, worn carpets, musty smelling rooms, poor food, ants in the bathroom). read more

Stayed here over the weekend for a friends wedding in Palo Alto. Loved having breakfast every morning. Food was delicious. Location is convenient also. It was pretty late when I checked in, so I decided to get a quick dinner at in-n-out. I only had to walk across the street. I also had forgotten some toiletries at home, so I walked to the CVS down the block. The room was clean. The only down side was the AC unit was loud at night. This place is wonderful. The staff, the rooms, the amenities. I needed a nice hotel for my husbands family who was coming to town for my father in laws memorial service. Candace met with me on short notice, gave me a tour, and assured me she would do everything necessary to make my husband's family's stay a good one. She negotiated a great room block rate and stayed in constant communication with me. All of the family members who stayed there kept telling me how nice the place is, the food is great and front desk staff so helpful. The room was excellent! The beds were comfy, the TV was new and up to date, the bathroom was clean, and the soaps/shampoos provided were a step above the rest. The staff was friendly,  helpful and knowledgeable. In regards to the continental breakfast, that was also fantastic and filling. I was very surprised at this hotel. I read the other reviews and saw the pictures. Pictures can be misleading, but usually the reviews are spot on. Not only were the rooms clean and modern, but they offered complementary amenities like a five star hotel. I loved the sanitized TV remote and the chocolates on the nightstand. I look for extras in the hotel when I book, like a Jacuzzi, free parking, dog friendly, and breakfast. For breakfast, I don't really care about the food, all I want is coffee and toast in the morning, but my partner is more picky. The breakfast was exceptional with pretty much whatever you could want included. They even offered a "traditional Japanese style breakfast" which included rice and miso soup. For the very very reasonable rate that I paid I would not have expected the lovely breakfast, lemonade, fruit, access to a computer, and newspapers in the lobby, all complimentary as well. We stayed on the weekend, but I also read that they have appetizers in the evening during the week. If we are in the area again, or close for any reason, I will definitely book this hotel again. read more

Horrible place. At first it seemed like a good environment to be around whether it was being employed or as a guest. However i got fired for calling out because my daughter got sick and as a single mom my priorities is my daughter and to take care of her. I did not even get a warning or a written up. Horrible place to work. But if I was a guest I wouldn't want to be sleeping here. Bed bugs and ants. Also they don't keep track with the food that they are baking. Ew. We stayed in this hotel for two nights/evenings on Thanksgiving and the preceding day. It was an absolutely delightful, relaxing experience. Although there are nearly 200 rooms in this hotel, only an estimated 30-50 people stayed there the night before Thanksgiving. In spite of the light customer base that night, service was stellar. This is one of the best managed hotels we can remember having stayed in. It is impeccably clean inside and out, and there are personal touches evident throughout the hotel. Staff at all levels seemed happy and more personable than any hotel we have stayed in-anywhere. The continental breakfast provided the nicest selection of quality buffet style breakfast food we've enjoyed. Although most of the tables in the breakfast dining room were unfilled during breakfast, there were fresh roses on every table each morning. The dining area and tables were spotless and well attended to. This was obviously "slow season" for this hotel and others in the El Camino Real corridor of Silicon Valley. On the day before Thanksgiving, staff was busy deep cleaning and shampooing room and hallway carpets throughout the hotel. Early that afternoon, the housecleaning manager, a charming and beautiful Arabian woman named Saliha, was preparing a luncheon for all the hotel employees who were working that day. We had an issue develop that required the attention of an on-site manager. Saliha immediately resolved our issue with warmth and charm, after which she brought a dessert plate from the employee luncheon up to our room for my wife to enjoy-unannounced. It seemed obvious to both my wife and me that the GM and ownership of this hotel understand a simple but often secret principle of excellent management: If you treat your employees well, they will repay you tenfold with hard work, gratitude, and loyalty. The hospitality extended here is neither contrived nor artificial. Employees seem happy to be working there and the warmth and positivityof their attitudes shined through. The hotel is definitely worth staying especially for those looking for a good value hotel. The rooms are clean and seem like its newly renovated. Familiarity breeds contempt? I dunno, don't think that's it. This was my 3rd? 4th stay? Was I getting spoiled? The biggie: I admit I was scatterbrained due to a really, really bad set of misfortunes earlier in the week. I forgot my direct deposit was delayed one day due to President's day. As luck would have it, I only remembered this halfway down to the Bay on the train. I called and spoke with the General Manager who told me not only would he not hold my credit card for a few hours until the money was in my account (understandable) but no, I could not even wait in the lobby or anywhere on the premises until then. I told him I'd stayed there several times in the last 6months. He said if I knew someone who could "vouch for" that, tell him. I gave him the name of the happy hour host and he said he'd check when she got there. No, I am not making any of this up. BTW, the happy hour gal is Colleen, and if you stay there give her a big tip since she is one of two friendly peeps that work there. I spent 4 hours hanging out at the train station before heading next door to a concert. Luckily, the deposit hit just as Sir Elton and Billy were finishing their final set. My alternate plan was to take the bus to Valley Med Center and hang out there as it was the only place I could think of that would be safe and warm and wouldn't kick me out. The GM never got back to me about being vouched for. The staff, with one exception is for lack of a better term, grumpy. Is it too much to expect a smile when checking in? Letting me use the laundry room until 10:30 instead of 10:00? It's not adjacent to any guest rooms. I had to use the sink and drip dry in the shower overnight and wear damp items the next day, thanks. There were other unpleasantries as well, including not being able to get me one lousy paper plate to heat my pizza (kitchen staff locks 'em up like gold bricks at Fort Knox) They leave out coffee but lock up the little half and half containers and leave off-brand dry creamer. Hot water but lock up the tea bags and hot cocoa mix. But a smile would go a long way to make one forget... The place is still a bargain, but it would be nice if they would inform the reservations staff (i.e. the front desk) about the Yelp discount? I have had to freakin' argue with them to get it every single time. If little details such as this don't bother you, like I said this place is still a good value. But it's got a competitor right around the corner (cough/Wild Palms/cough) and I've heard they give great smile. And I bet they'd FIND me a paper plate and some cocoa. I wasn't sure how to rate this, it isn't a 4-5 star hotel, but as far as a yelp goes, it's a 4. Polite staff, accommodating. I had a moldy smell in my first room and requested a move and they took me to two other rooms and let me choose. No smells in the current room. Clean, crisp sheets; soft towels, regular toiletries, nice shower. A really nice breakfast with regular breakfast meat and scrambled eggs; miso soup and rice; veggie tray and hummus; fruit either peaches or berry blend; assortment of muffins, pastries, bagels, long john, English muffins, toast; Belgium waffle with syrups, whip cream; coffee/tea; and apple or orange juice. Seemed to always be a packed breakfast room all week. I was very comfortable and I will use this hotel again when I travel here for business. read more

Fabulous place. I come to Sunnvyale on weekly business travel and usually bring my little dog with me. The pet-friendly rooms sometimes have extra food- and waterbowls in them (one even had treats!), and the green areas around the parking lot provide ample space to walk and exercise my dog. Expect breakfast and hospitality hour similar to a Fairfield Inn (buffet-style), BUT with an Asian twist if you're so inclined. I'd never had nori and tofu for breakfast--what a cool experience! Expect to be able to work the calories off in a very well-maintained, clean exercise room later, before you fall into your comfortable bed. I can't stress safety enough. As a female business traveler, I appreciated the well-lit parking lot and the attentive hotel staff. read more

Amazing Grace!!! After searching through over a dozen hotels in the Silicon Valley Area for a women's conference in Sept. 2007, I was astonished at what I found at the Maple Tree Inn. We often host visitors who have booked their own hotel, and I have visited many of their quarters. It is often just very average, nothing to really relax you or serve your needs much. BUT, at the Maple Tree Inn, where my husband and I stayed for 9 days, and 2 of our children (ages 16 and 23) stayed for 3 days,....we found the following: -A double queen room that actually had space to spare in it -We got fresh everything every day! and maid service with a big smile! -We were greeted in the halls and lounge each morning with several cheery "Good Morning!"s, and similar greetings throughout the day -Although we were praying only an average price for our accommodations, we were treated with style and grace at the front desk, by the staff and so were our requests for service, etc. -The Breakfast is perfect! Poor Marie Calendar's missed us I think. We chose to have a different style of breakfast each morning, we even tried the Japanese one. -The reception snack in the evening was way beyond what we thought it would be: my kids especially liked the pizza night! All for free. -In our room, we had a fridge that was empty (not full of expensive junk), so we could do a little shopping at the plaza less than half a block away for the things we especially enjoy. The microwave and shelf was just right for our occasional meals "in". -And, our beds, they were brand new, and comfortable. I hate a rock hard bed. There were big, fluffy blankets extra just waiting for us, also. -One of the most relaxing and soothing things about the entire hotel is the atmosphere, which has clearly been especially designed to be peace full and serene. Even the pictures in our room were of a beach and the water. -The Dining Room is just full of light and big comfortable chairs. No squishing in beside someone. The staff is very attentive in the Dining Room, and I never once felt hurried, even though we stayed very late one morning. And, it is always open, all day long. So, when I went in with my instant soup bowl and asked for hot, boiling water, they were more than happy to help out. -The Business Office staff were so polite and caring, it made feel like I could ask them for anything, or, just chat awhile. There is also a Save Deposit Box for guests. -Ah, yes, Security. I felt the staff were much more careful than hotels I've stayed in previously. There is even someone who walks around the halls often to check on things. This made us feel secure. -The pool and poolside chairs, towels were so clean and always neat. The exercise room has an unusual number of machines, which we appreciated. -Another highly unusual thing the Inn has is a full LAUNDRY ROOM for guests to use as they please. It is operated just like a coin laundry, only with much nicer staff. -Even their parking was "wrap around", so that we ended up parking our cars right behind our room. -The rooms are particularly sound-proof. That is, you can hear a tap or two now and then, but it was unusually quiet. (We were on the first floor.) Overall, my family and I felt pampered and welcomed. I stayed here for one night, and it came out to around $100. I loved that there was a jacuzzi, and that it was open even in the winter! Free parking and breakfast was a plus as well. The breakfast selection had a lot of variety, though don't expect a gourmet breakfast. The wifi was pretty shaky the whole time I was there and I feel like the rooms were outdated. Stayed one night for a business trip. We thought it would be closer to the airport--probably 20 minutes away. Had a room on the first floor and looked like it had been recently renovated, so everything was nice. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. They offer a free breakfast in the morning, which is what brought the review down for me. The pancake dispenser was broken and the eggs were not edible. They did have coffee, juices, fruits and pastries. The staff was friendly. It is located on a busy street, but it's close to markets and some stores, which is helpful. First time staying here for an overnight business trip. Usually stay at Hilton properties as they are closer to my work location. Also, I did not know about this hotel previously. I stayed here due to location, price and other feedback. I was not disappointed. The staff was great, the room was very nice (clean and quiet, everything worked) and breakfast was very good with a nice selection. Check-out was a breeze. I have already updated my administrator that I would like to stay here on future trips to the area (several times a year). I did not attend the evening managers reception so I cannot comment on that. I recommend this inn to everyone visiting Sunnyvale/Cupertino. The place is easy to find, strategic location, with shopping and eating possibilities. We had tried standard single queen and standard double queen room. You would not complain about the size of the room. There are coffee maker (of course it works for tea too), refrigerator, and tv in each room. Clean bath tub, plenty of clean towels, hair dryer in the bath room, shampoo, bath gel, lotion are also provided. Wifi and cable internet is included (free). Great breakfast buffet, bagels, breads, waffle, yogurt, etc. Sadly we did not try out the pool and jacuzzi. read more

Very pleasant surprise to find this affordable motel in Sunnyvale. We had a last-minute trip to the South Bay for a weekend, and we found this place through a hotel booking site. It turned out to be a very relaxing experience. They have a nice pool, spa, and BBQ area, and serve an excellent hot breakfast. Breakfast even includes a Japanese style meal if you prefer that. I did not try it, but the radish was tasty. The room was up to date and comfortable. The building is apparently older, but they have refurbished it and done all the maintenance needed, so it doesn't show its age. I can recommend this to anyone who wants a good value in this area. read more

My summary of the one (and only) night I spent at the Maple Tree Inn: In my opinion, it's nothing more than an overpriced motel 8. The night staff are downright rude and condecending. Day staff are uncoordinated, one telling me the rate would increase, another that it stays the same. They called the room 5 times that morning, even though i had a "late" checkout time at 3 pm (try to get an hour more than that and you pay for a "half day". 150$ for an extra hour or two of sleep, that I'm sure will be studded with calls. I can't speak as to the quality of the food, i was too tired to eat. The repeated phone calls stopped me from getting the one thing I really wanted from a hotel... Sleep! I will not be returning here EVER, and I would suggest you look elsewhere. read more

This was a very nice hotel and we were able to take our dog with a minimal charge of $20 a night. They provided a nice breakfast and put us on the ground floor close to an outside entrance for doggy breaks. The rooms were clean and updated. This place is absolutely outstanding. Everything in my room was sparkly clean, everyone who worked there was extremely nice. I was expecting some rolls and coffee for the free breakfast, maybe waffles. Oh no, not at the Maple Tree Inn! There was a full buffet breakfast! Scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage, waffles, every sort of pastry you could wish for. Fresh fruit, canned fruit, the list marches on and on! Also- get this- their check-in time is an hour earlier than other hotels and their check-out time isn't until noon! Go ahead and deduct at least 50.00 from the cost of the room for all the extras and this hotel is the best deal in the San Jose area! In the future, I will always stay at The Maple Tree Inn! read more
