I am a Hilton man so I was reluctant to stay at anything else; however, as I was traveling for business, I stayed here as it was a little cheaper for the client. I didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised by the look, feel, customer service and amenities. They have done a good job on updating whatever the property was before so I was happy with the room and the customer service. A bonus was the social hour they have each night where they serve wine or beer, salad and another food item. The bar stays open after the "free" couple of hours if you want to purchase drinks. What a great way to end a long day. The breakfast was better than many of the Hilton properties I stay in. In fact, they served veggie sausage one morning which was a true delight. The only negative was the gym. One of the machines did not work and the other did not have a tv attached. The TV's in the gym did not work. Outside of the one negative, this was a nice stay and I would certainly book here again. read more

This is my go to when I'm in Sunnyvale - the staff here are consistently warm and friendly on the phone and in person (especially Sans and Alejandra!), the prices are reasonable, the rooms are very clean and quiet. Each room is spare but with modern enough essentials - desk with task lamp, coffee maker, 2.5 cubic foot fridge, microwave, individually wrapped sterilized drinking glasses, modern showers, blackout curtains - yup this place checks all the boxes for a traveler who needs to work on the run lol. The beds are comfortable - thankfully not memory foam. Simple, serviceable, clean and affordable. I like that this place is big enough that they can space out their guests. If you're a light sleeper like me then ask for the top floor or the 2nd floor where they don't have a 3rd floor for a quiet night's rest. Centrally located and there is an amazing Indian restaurant literally next door (the Chettinad chicken curry was so delicious for an authentic experience) and Paris Baguette bakery is across the street so you can enjoy a freshly baked pastry and coffee if you like. Close enough to walk to stores if you don't have a car, safe enough to park in the lot overnight. A hidden gem for this price, location, and the service! read more

The room and the bathroom were very clean and I appreciated having a fridge and microwave. I also loved that the mattresses and pillows were comfy and firm! I slept like a baby that night. See below. Not a bad hotel / Not a great hotel. Let's talk pros and cons, shall we? Pro: The exterior of the hotel looks great. Con: The facelift is skin deep. The doors, floors, walls look old and musty. I started out on my journey saying, "OMG, this hotel is OLD and musty." They need to spruce things up. Pro: The room doors don't slam overly loudly when they close like in most hotels. Con: The floors sound like a single piece of plywood. I can hear the people in the rooms around me thinking. Actually, the guy above me, I think, had a lung condition and feet made of lead. I asked them to move me to the top floor and they are accommodating me. Pro: The shower is great. The shower head is up high and has a great spray. I'm tall and this is important. Most hotel showers suck. This one doesn't. Con: You can't turn on the water without getting your arm all wet. Jeez, I'm picky, right? Pro: The room's AC is efficient. Con: It blows frigid air directly across the surface of the bed, creating an arctic cold front. I put pillows upright on their long sides to act as a wind block, that worked well. I found a use for the many many too many pillows every hotel provides! Pro: The WiFi is faster than your average hotel WiFi. This is great for your online entertainment needs, whatever they may be... you know, it's alright if you are into that one thing you are into by the way, they make it because people like it. You are not alone. All things to all people, right? Con: The TV system is Glob-Awful. No HBO. No Showtime. They have Starz, but... well it's insufficient. OH! Also, they have a nifty system where you can control your TV with your phone, BUT to get a TV listing on the phone, you need to make an in-app purchase for $0.99. Pro: The absolute best Indian restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of dining at is right next door. They have an all you can eat thali and they will fill your bowls and fill them and fill them and you'll keep eating because it's SO good. Plus, the last time I was there, an (I assume) Indian soap opera was on the TV... I had no idea what they were saying, but there was clearly drama! Con: The neighborhood is only great if you like Indian food, In-n-Out Burger, or buying cars. There are 23 or more car dealerships right outside your hotel window for your car buying pleasure. There's not much else going on in walking distance. Pro: They have a decent gym. Con: No fan, as musty as much of the rest of the public spaces, some equipment was out of order. Anyway, it gets the job done, so It's pretty good I guess. Pro: Their shampoo, conditioner, and soap are way better than average. No strong perfumes. Good quality stuff. Con: Hmm.. no con here. The bathroom is good quality. Best part of the hotel actually. Good Job. Anyway, I'm picky about hotels. Were I Emperor of Hotels, it would be a law that everyone involved involved in the architecture, design, and purchasing decisions of a hotel should be required to reside in the hotel for a period of no less than 2 weeks so that they can enjoy the consequences of their poor decisions. They must be subject to the poor sound isolation they allowed to happen. Maybe hearing the pluming sounds of their neighbors showering at 5am every morning will help them build a better hotel in the future. Perhaps hearing their upstairs neighbor walking back and forth across the room while getting ready for work after their shower at 5am every morning will help them regret their choices in building materials. Perhaps rubbing sandpaper towels across their tender bodies every morning will help them understand the customer experience better, and they will consider their cost-to-fluffiness ratio in a different way in future hotels. Seven days & six nights: One star is due to front desk's incompetence of over charges $426 which wasted over two hours of our Black Friday to rectify issue! Sadly, the front desk personnel lacks billing understanding, personality and/or greeting skills. Furthermore whenever we entered or exited past the Front Desk, the majority of the time --no one was visible to greet us hello or goodbye! In fact, a homeless guy came in past the Desk and enjoyed a free meal...until he was escorted out! Hmmmm.... Otherwise, breakfast and rooms were excellent! Unfortunately, we will not return too soon because the billing mishap occurred along with Front Desk's inattentiveness. I'm a bit disappointed since we are avid staycationers of the Silicon Valley. From check in to check out we had a nice and comfortable stay. I really loved the dual shower heads and overall modern room and bathroom. Parking was super convenient! Continental breakfast was also awesome and wasn't just fruit and cereal; they actually serve a real breakfast for FREE!! No extra fees for wifi or parking! The room was super clean!! We had sold our house and moved out of the valley about 2 years ago. Growing up in the Cupertino/San Jose area we are familiar with quite a few hotels that we have had guests stay at in the past. Now with aging parents still in the Bay Area we had to find a comfortable and clean hotel to spend nights when we come down to help them out more and more often. After checking on some other hotels in the valley with positive and negative results we have now spent about 60 total room nights in the last year here at Maple Tree Inn. Out of the 60+ nights the shortest being 1 night the longest being 4 nights we have had many separate stays. They have some dog friendly rooms, sometimes we need to bring our small dog and sometimes not, never had been a problem. First off that pretty much says it all, with that many different stays we continue to come and stay at Maple Tree Inn. The hotel has been there for quite a long time, but it is in excellent condition, nicely appointed and centrally located. The property is nice, the rooms are nice sized, clean, the beds are comfortable and the internal internet works well. During the COVID times they have been very conscience about cleaning, sanitizing and helping their customers out by suppling a kit with masks, wipes and a little disinfecting spray. Yes, they have cut back on some of the amenities they have during normal times, but it is well noted on the main page and in all fairness the pricing for the room has been reduced also from the pre-COVID times. I do not feel like I am "missing out" on most anything. If I need something cleaned, towels or extra supplies, it is not a problem. The general manager Charles is friendly and accommodating, his staff from the front desk to the housekeepers are all pleasant. Being there quite a few times I am remembering some of the front desk employees. I would like to bring up some of the names; Jessica, Mariaelana, Candace, Nelli, Amy, Anthony and 2 other young men that I can't quite remember their names. This front desk staff has always been helpful, accommodating, respectful and personable. I have never had any problem with anyone who is employed by the Maple Tree Inn. I will continue to book my rooms here when I am required to be back in the Bay Area. In fact, will be back in mid June again. read more

Found this hotel through Yelp and booked a stay over this past weekend. My husband and I were thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel, the friendliness of the staff, and, most of all the absolutely ridiculously comfortable King bed (which we got upgraded to for free from a Queen which was a nice added bonus). It was almost too difficult to get out of bed in the mornings because we were far too cozy. The breakfast service was great although I wish there were more grab-and-go options but that's such a minor thing in an overall fantastic stay. Already making plans to visit the Bay Area again soon and we will definitely be repeat guests at the Maple Tree Inn. read more

I have stayed here NUMEROUS times, but I just can not stay here any longer! They have decent prices and the rooms are not bad HOWEVER there are a few things that just irks my nerves. The management is never to be found! Seriously? What kind of hotel is ran without management. During my last stay, the poor girl at the front desk looked really sick. She really looked like death but was not able to go home because they had nobody to cover her shift? WHAT!!?? Isn't that the duty of a manager to take over an employee is incapable of performing their job? You have guests in and out on a constant basis and should NOT have someone that sick greeting guests and their families. **Had to edit due to the useless manager complaining to Yelp. I would stay here again! My coworker and I stayed here for the week on business. He had to find a pet friendly hotel and this was one place that could accommodate that. When they found out he had a pet, we weren't able to keep the double queen bed room that was recently upgraded. Luckily, the staff was able to give us that room anyhow, phew. I was able to peer into the rooms getting housekeeping and noticed how tacky those rooms looked (think floral bedding, tacky wallpaper, etc.). Our room however, was very up to date, modern, sleek, and comfortable. What a steal! There's breakfast daily 7-9? and consisted of cereal, miso soup (I guess for the Asian clientele that heavily populate this hotel), rice, eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles, donuts, fruit, yogurt. The quality of the food isn't necessarily the greatest but it'll do. The only thing that changed was the protein of the day- sausage patties, sausage links, bacon, ham. When you return from a long day of work, they have hospitality hour Mon-Thurs from 5-7. Here, they serve complimentary beer and wine along with a selection of cheese and crackers, cookies. The offerings of the hospitality hour changed daily as well: pad thai, pizza, Mexican food, chicken strips, etc. Again, quality is severely lacking... I think they could definitely beef this area up. Parking is a pain late at night, there was literally a point where we had to circle the entire lot to find a spot. Wifi is free but also slow here. There was also a day when our keys malfunctioned and we were unable to get into the room. We went down to get a replacement key. The replacement key did not work, so we had to go back downstairs. Obviously, we were annoyed at that point, especially after an exhausting day at work. Even so, these minor complaints really didn't affect my overall stay here. read more

This is an adorable place that tries hard to cater to its guests and has a great front desk staff. I stayed here for two weeks so had ample opportunity to partake in all their amenities. The location is ideal for travelers as it's right on El Camino and minutes from the highway. The pool is beautiful and heated all the time so it doesn't hurt to sneak in a little backstroking action with a semi-broken shoulder on a clear winters night. The rooms are adorable and quaint but not too small that you feel like you're bumping into things all the time. It's a step up from hotels like Best Western but no Larkspur Landing if you get my drift. The only downside to the place is the dining room that's adjacent to their conference area. It's where they hold their "happy hour" with complimentary wine and snacks from local restaurants. The room itself is plain, similar to a Bio 101 classroom setting with the set up of the tables and the only entrance to the pool from my side of the hotel. Mingling with Silicon Valley geeks is not my idea of a good time as I'm trying to walk through the crowd of khaki and polos. I will say however, their pet policy is lenient and seeing a few animals on the property made me feel better about bringing my furball with me during my two week stay. read more

I loved my experience at this hotel. Ive had really mixed experience with hotels in the area, especially with mid-range hotels. of course youre gonna get good service at the hilton or the fairmont, but you pay a premium for it. this hotel is not too big, homey, with dark wood paneling inside. there really isnt any landscaping, but there are a number of maple trees around outside, the leaves were all on the ground when i stayed, it was really pretty. there is an outside pool, but i dont think its heated, and it was raining while i was here, so i didnt go in. the room was very clean and comfortable. there was a fridge that wasnt packed with overpriced drinks. also included was a microwave, an unexpected bonus. the morning breakfast was very large, and not just nasty sysco-ish processed foods. there was a make-your-own belgian waffle machine, yogurt, pastries, miso soup, the whole nine yards. my only caveat with this place is that i tried to reserve my room online, but i only saw a smoking room available. so i called and they said non-smoking was not a problem, they could take my reservation on the phone, but the room would be $120 or something. the online rate said $85, i think. i asked them why there was a discrepancy, and the front desk guy said that the rate hadnt been updated online, they were actually pretty full, so the price had gone up. i thought that was a little weird, but i hung up with him, booked the room online, and had no problem, paid the amount i expected, got a non-smoking room. i just thought it was a little weird that they wouldnt honor the advertised rate on the phone, but booking it online worked out, so i have no complaints. i would highly recommend this hotel to both business and leisure travelers. read more

Having stayed at numerous hotels, I can honestly say that this is THE hotel to book. There just isn't another one like it within a 30 radius or so that provides the level of service, affordability, and condition that these guys have. Interior- Old school decor, functionality over fancy schamcy floor plans. Free wi-fi + morning breakfast. Exterior- Gorgeous, lots of trees for shade in the parking lot. Everything looks new. Location- Conveniently located on El Camino Real, 5-10 minutes from all major highways. In a nice area, not ghetto-y like a lot of other hotels. Price- $60 a night for a one week stay (This is a STEAL). There is simply no real comparison when it comes to the Maple Tree Inn. My husband and I reserved a wedding block here (note: we had events her in Sunnyvale and in Gilroy hence reserved rooms in Gilroy for another night, in case you see that I have two reviews for hotels!) I researched local hotels via a couple of hotel websites like hotels.com and booking.com. This by far had the best reviews and the most reasonable prices aside from super budget hotels. They are also not a chain, and this showed in their impeccable service. The process of touring the premise and reserving the block was really easy, compared to the big chains which took days to return a call and routing me through a central office. The breakfast is extensive and the pool and patio facilities are great. Everyone who stayed here raved about it, including some 'particular' relatives :) The happy hour is apparently really fun and chill. I enjoyed hearing stories of our families meeting each other and imbibing together! I feel like this is a hidden gem of Sunnyvale! I can't imagine a better selection for our guests. read more

Only have had the breakfast once but it is your standard continental breakfast (albeit with the most bizarre tasting sausage I've ever eaten). This hotel was very disappointing. My parents stayed here this summer, as I live right down the street. I picked them up at the airport, and upon arriving at the room, we got a room key for a room that didn't work. After exchanging the key and entering the room, we walked in on someone who was sleeping and scared the living daylights out of him! They had checked my parents into an already occupied room! On the third try, we finally got another room, but the next morning, there was no water pressure for the shower. This was a problem every single day. When we complained to the front desk, we received a very flat and insincere apology. They didn't offer a discount or even a sincere apology. There was literally only a trickle of water coming out of the shower head. Apparently there wasn't enough water pressure to service all of the rooms. Providing a hot shower is a basic service of any hotel, and when a hotel that costs this much can't even do that, there is a serious problem. To make matters worse, there was a busload of teenagers at the hotel this week. The bus would block me into my parking spot, and the teenagers would fill the lobby and roughhouse. My father got knocked down by some kids roughhousing and they didn't even apologize. While it's not the hotel's job to babysit, they should have spoken to the guardians of the teens about the disruption of other guests. Additionally, when my parents booked the hotel over the phone, my mom was eligible for a teacher's discount, but the hotel had never heard of it, and gave her a hard time. She had to get her rep to call the hotel and hash it out. We should've known better, when just booking the room started with a hassle. I can't believe I'm reviewing the same hotel as some of the other folks here. This was a dismal experience, and it was lucky I lived nearby so my parents didn't have to spend much time here. The bedding was literally sitting at the edge of the bed.... eeeeew !!!! Mind you my GF already has a hard time staying at hotels and brings her own sheets. So that to start gave her extreme anxiety. We thought maybe we had to make our own bed due to Covid. However, we look into the bathroom and there was USED SOAP on the soap holder !!!! Grosssss !!!! Not to mention used shampoo and conditioner in the shower and NO TOWELS !!! Not to mention a used coffee maker. Thats when we realized in fact we had been given a un-clean/sanitized room. During Covid that made us feel gross. I called down and the gentleman almost didnt believe me. He kept asking if I was sure. Gee, let's see bed un-made, used soap on the sink, etc. What do you think. How about come to the room and see for yourself not make a guest feel as though they are fibbing. We finally got a new room, however, it was NOT what we reserved whixh was dissapointing. We didnt even bother to complain at that point as we were exhausted. Needless to say, at 6am we were awoke by a dog barking up a storm !!! This wasn't a small teeny dog either !!!! This bark was sooo loudz we both woke up. Finally fell back asleep, just to be awoken at 8am yet again. This happened our 2 nights stay. A dog barking extremely loud. There shud be weight regulations. The bigger the dog, tge louder the bark. Or maybe keep animals on one side. I don't know , but between the dirty room and the dog, we were dissapointed. Needless to say, we decided to give the hotel one last try. Which is our current stay. This time, we e ded up being charged DOUBLE !!! The first time it said approved and the gal said it declined, yet I saw approved. I tried to tell her, yet she was adimit it declined. So we did it again. Not only was I charged 389 vs 289 Priceline quoted me ( ok got it 100 deposit, however that shud be stipulated thru Priceline) that was frustrating but it was like whatever its a deposit. However I woke up and sure enough as I told the front desk gal, It approved the 1st time and nlw I was charged 389 x2. Needless to say I was charged 2x for our stay. I let her know there and then and she did not listen and instead ran the card again. I went tk the front desk and they agreed and said yes we charged you 2x but did nothing further but tell me to call my bank. Now I have to contest it. Would it not be easier to be issued a refund from 5he hotel tor 1 of the 2 charges? Sadly, I was going to extend my stay until Thursday to have more time with my gf, but now we are planning on making reservations elsewhere ( whixh is q pain to pack just to go elsewhere) I truly liked the rooms, the location, etc and planned to make this my go to hotel as I visit my gf from Fresno 2-3x a month, days at a time. On a last minute trip to the Bay Area a few weeks ago I stayed at the Maple Tree Inn. I looked them up on Yelp and got an immediate discount by mentioning their promotion. Great bonus!!! The Maple Tree is friendly, clean, and convenient. It is centrally located to many restaurants and services and freeway access points. We took advantage of that by eating at the Black Angus which is virtually across the street. The hotel itself has a large pool and spa, cafe, and hosts complimentary happy hour cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Another plus if you happen to be in the hotel at the appointed time. A complimentary breakfast is also available for hotel guests. I was expecting your basic continental fare, but was pleased to be incorrect. This was a full on breakfast with hot entrees with all the breakfast items you would ordinarily expect, including a variety of fruit juices, pastries, eggs, bacon & sausage, waffles, muffins, and cereals. The rooms were smallish yet comfortable. Don't expect the more upscale travel lodges; but a clean environment with all of your necessities on site executed by a caring staff with superior offerings such as the guest happy hour and appetizers and the guest breakfast service. We stayed for one night and will definitely stay again when we are in the area. Both receptionists, check in and check out, were friendly and professional. The room was clean and provided everything we needed: umbrella, reading light attached to the bed, coffee. The full breakfast was a plus. Also, my husband had finished a book he was reading so he left it in the room for someone else's enjoyment. Housekeeping sent me an email asking if I wanted them to mail it to us. Had a very good stay at this hotel. The Staff: Anthony, Raul, Housekeeping and Restaurant crew were all very attentive, pleasant and courteous. The Continental breakfast is one of the best I've seen in years. You don't feel at all that you are being served food leftovers or last-minute, unplanned meals. ^^ They should mount a voluntary tip box for guest, wishing to tip the dining room staff. Location is great for access to shopping centers and restaurants. I didn't have time to assess "walkability", but it seemed as if there were plenty of amenities close by. read more

Rented two rooms on 9/8 for one night to attend the Gwen Stefani concert in the next town over. My daughter & boyfriend and hubby loved the place as I did. Very updated & clean! Great customer service both check in and out. Breakfast was somewhat typical but much better in ways; included cooked rice/miso soup/ fresh veggie platters & fruit..fresh pastries, walffle maker, etc. GREAT coffee, too. I saw a lot of peeps shoveling food into their mouths; surprised no one choked! I always look for the hot tub & pool for any of my hotel stays. Unfortunately, I did not give this a 5 star because I was not able to use the amenities that I always look forward to because there was a wedding taking place in the pool area. Now I will know to ask about events in the common area of the hotel place. One other thing I am waiting on is my last contact w/the hotel via email. My credit card charge did not match my check out bill but I have not heard a reply, yet. Hopefully should not have any bearing on the "place" itself. read more

Had a mini getaway for an event at Shoreline with my man this weekend. Maple Tree Inn was a great place to stay! Close to the venue, surrounded so many good places, & best of all everything was so CLEAN! The rooms seem fairly new and everything was in good working condition. A few bonuses for us were the empty mini fridge which we were able to stuff drinks in, overall the comfort & cleanliness of the room & lastly the complimentary breakfast (which was awesome). They have a lot to offer compared to some places we've stayed at for much more. We look forward to coming back! read more

Not bad for a three star hotel. The rooms are clean. They have nice toiletries in the bathroom. Wonderful gluten free options at the free continental breakfast including miso soup, dried seaweed, pickled daikon, Jimmy Dean sausages and sausage patties, scrambled eggs, and orange juice. read more

Wonderful accomodations, they do it better than the big guys, nice breakfast spread, clean rooms and friendly staff. Book well in advance for a good rate. Walking distance to at least 20 restaurants. read more

Definitely a great value for the business traveler! Though small and somewhat out-of-date with the furnishings, the very reasonable rates include parking, wireless internet, breakfast in the morning, and a manager's reception at night. The staff were all nice, and I have no complaints. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The toiletries they provide are Terra Pure and organic/natural. Three different types of coffee are offered for you to brew in your room. I agree that the showers are weird - the head comes out at about 5 feet, so it is a little awkward to get clean. This sort of goes along with the out-of-date theme. However, the hotel is very clean and comfortable. I'll stay here again! read more

I'm giving this hotel 5 stars for its generous and flexible check-in and check-out times and the friendly staff. My husband and I have stayed at many hotels in the area but we keep coming back to the Maple Tree Inn because it has everything we need...fridge, microwave, comfy beds, clean bathrooms and a nice sized TV. It's a perfect little getaway for our 'staycations' where we can forget the outside world exists for a couple days. What a great little hotel! Our company just hosted a summit here this week and a large portion of us stayed here. From the moment we got there on Monday, the front desk was helpful and accommodating. Also lots of snacks provided! The rooms were immaculate and brand new, you totally don't expect it from passing on the street. Breakfast was an actual hot breakfast with eggs, sausage, etc. You don't see that a lot from non high end places anymore. Wonderful stay and nothing negative to say. Definitely recommend for anyone traveling for business or company meetings/events. Also a very cute pool side area! read more

Absolutely wonderful stay! Traveling with babies is no easy task as every parent knows. After a long road trip we were hoping that if we paid a little extra we could check in early at the hotel and be able to rest with the children. the front desk staff at the Maple Tree Inn went above and beyond. She was able to get us a room on the 1st floor near the exit, close to the breakfast bar, and most important was able to check us in at NO EXTRA CHARGE!!! the accommodations are not what you expect when you drive past the busy street. the beds are clean and comfortable, the facilities are clean and spacious. the continental breakfast was just delicious! eggs, bacon, and a fresh made waffle. what else could you ask for? Oh yeah HOT FRESH COFFEE! :) they had it all! the trip to the Pac12 championship game could not have been a successful trip with out the stay at this hotel. not to mention that they are only 4-5 miles away from Levi Stadium. We are now planning a trip to San Francisco and we plan to stay at the Maple Tree Inn. read more

Stayed here three days over 4th of July. Based on the price alone ($64.35/night) for a decent room in a nice part of town in the Bay Area, this started as an automatic 5-star rating. However, they lose one star for the lousy shower water pressure. I'll save the planet at home, thanks. But on the road, i need all the help i can get to start the day. They also lose a star for the maids (I assume) turning off the room A/C. We'd left it on because it was supposed to be 95 that day, we had a lot of running around to do, and we wanted to come 'home' to a cool room. No such luck. (But hey -- they did leave the heat light on in the lav.) Again, we'll save the planet on our dime at home. But please keep your mitts off the controls! Net = 3 stars. Close, but no cigar. read more
