    Roasted honeynut squash

This is now one of my top favorite breweries in Chicago! The combination of the cozy pub ambience, delicious food, and excellent beer and alcohol selection makes Maplewood really stand out. Tucked away at the end of a small street, Maplewood appears unassuming. But when you step inside, the wooden ceiling features, string lights, brick walls, and cool artwork surrounding an intimate bar setting invite you in like a warm embrace after escaping the winter cold. When you sit down you can order via QR code which makes ordering with friends and splitting checks very convenient. Service is very efficient and friendly. I also appreciate the limited but intentionally crafted food menu. The Maplewood smashburger was juicy, savory, and the burger patty was perfectly browned and crisped without being dry. The sauce was delicious and had a nice kick. I shared the burger with my partner, along with cheese curds (incredible!!), and roasted honeynut squash. It was very filling and we ended up taking some cheese curds and squash home! The squash had depth of flavor and a great mix of textures with pistachios, pomegranate seeds, and I think feta cheese on top. The skin was crispy and overall it was tasty! The food paired perfectly with beer. I've had Maplewood beer from a can before but never on tap, so it was such a treat! I tried the Krispie Treats which delivered on the marshmallow vanilla flavor and sweetness. They have a big selection of beers, and they are also a distillery which means they offer cocktails! I love that they have something for everybody, including the friends who are more into cocktails than beer. I liked that utensils, trays, and takeout containers were self-serve and well-stocked. There's a variety of takeout containers to suit various types of food and portion sizes and they were high quality! I love when restaurants/bars offer the thick napkins--a marker of quality, and feels so luxurious! There are bathrooms for all genders, and they were clean, and had fun decor. And there's a small section of the brewery with merch for sale, like sweatshirts and beer glasses, so be sure to check those out! Can't wait to come back!

You can find Maplewood Brewery & Distillery at 2717 N Maplewood Ave, Chicago, IL 60647 - I believe this area is called "Logan Square" - the brewpub is located at an interesting dead-end street, I believe there's parking around the back and down some of the side streets. This was my first visit to Maplewood but it won't be my last. I was looking for breweries to visit between the end of a conference and my flight out of O'Hare - I didn't really have enough time to visit too many and really focus on the larger breweries like Revolution or Goose Island, so ended up at Maplewood and boy and I glad I did. I was able to grab a hightop then realized there wasn't table service so left my bag and went to the bar, ordering a flight. I asked for food recommendations and ended up with the Lazy Dumplings. Lazy Dumplings - Leniwe Kluski - Farmer's cheese dumpling, bacon, cream, peas, parmesan cheese, dill, lemon breadcrumb. - These were really delicious but a bit too rich for me - next time I'm going with the Hunters stew or Beef Goulash. Beer Flight: * Son of Juice NEIPA 6.3% ABV - Decent juicy hazy IPA, fruity and citrus and tropical notes, finishing, dry and well balanced. 4/5 * Krispie Cakes Golden Ale 6.7% ABV - Crisp yet somehow creamy vanilla with a hazy body, slightly sweet finishing with enough bitterness to balance things well. 4/5 * BA Cuppa Neat - WLR 2025 Imperial Stout 13.9% ABV - Wow, sophisticated notes of caramel, chocolate and coffee swimming in bourbon finishing with a touch of skills, nothing to dislike here. Fabulous stout. 4.5/5 * BA Cuppa Vanilla Rye SAZ 2025 Imperial Stout 13.9% ABV - The vanilla pervades an already delicious barrel aged stout - sticky sweet finish with notes of rye, barrel, coffee, chocolate and sticky sweet vanilla. 4.5/5 In all the beers were good with the two stouts outstanding and on par with anything I've had at either Revolution or with Goose Islands Bourbon County brand. Service was pretty minimal but the tender didn't turn me away when I asked for a flight so that's a boon. She also offered up the dumplings after a moment of thought so it wasn't about just recommending the most expensive item. In all a great experience.

Stopped in Sat PM for dinner and a drink. Nice selections of drinks and food overall. The Krispie Cakes beer was surprisingly good, tasted like a rice Krispy treat as described. I ordered one of the ciders and that was delicious too. We shared some cheese curds and the pork butter for the table and all was wonderful. Only complaint would be more bread with the pork butter. Their smash burgers were juicy and flavorful. I personally ordered the pork belly spaetzel and that was super filling. Next time I'm in Chicago, definitely stop in again!

Swung by maplewood brewery after catching a movie for some casual beers. Really liked their beer menu. We tried the Fat Pug and it is now my all time favorite. I love stouts and this one stood by its name. The crushinator and sidewalk surfer were some others ones we tried and those were good too. They have a beer calendar with rotating beers so definitely check them out before heading here. Overall, the space was a bit tiny in my opinion. Their food menu was very limited. They didn't have fries, which was surprising? but did have some frozen pizza that they reheat for every order. I will be back, but just for the beers. The service is basically just ordering at the counter and collecting your stuff.

Cozy brewery that has a great atmosphere, great beer, and also distills liquor! Friendly staff, close tables, amazing food. The Hefe, coffee blonde, and dunkel were all tasty! Pro Tip: outdoor patio when weather cooperates

We have wanted to come here for many years. It didn't disappoint. The space is very cool. Brick inside walls and lit up well. The bartenders were helpful. We got a few apps - the pickle plate and buffalo chicken dip. We did a number of beer flights and also a liquor and bourbon flight. We enjoyed everything and walked out with a few bottles of bourbon. Highly suggest a stop if you haven't been.

    Breakfast sandwich with sausage

Went there solo on a Sunday to try their breakfast sandwich. Sat at the bar- had great service even though I was just drinking water. Sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich I've had in chicago so far. Egg was fluffy, spicy mayo was a great contrast to all the savory flavors. Bun was soft and fresh. Highly recommend.

Our neighborhood bar finally has a full kitchen, and we are here for it!! The menu includes above average bar bites, but also unique dishes with a Polish flair - everything we have tried on separate occasions was great. I'm thrilled to have another reason to go to Maplewood besides their beers!

Cheese Dip with bread and carrots

Went to Maplewood for my first time yesterday and man, have I been missing out! I love the comfy, cozy vibe that Maplewood provides and really liked that they had both outdoor seating and indoor seating, especially now that fall is approaching. I ordered the Szarlotka which was unique to this weekend for Apple Fest - it was vodka and apple cider and absolutely delicious. I also tried a few of the beers that the rest of my party were enjoying and I really liked them as well. We also ordered the cheese dip to share and it was very good. I appreciated that they gave us both bread and carrots for the dip. I cannot recommend this hidden gem enough and cannot wait to be back at Maplewood! Thanks for an awesome first experience and looking forward to many more in the future.

I recently found myself back in the City of the Big Shoulders, that glorious town of beef sandwiches, eternal football heartbreak, and Midwestern hospitality .......and as any self-respecting gourmand-slash-beer-hound would, I made my pilgrimage to Maplewood Brewery & Distillery.......And let me tell you, this wasn't just a visit. It was an affair. The kind of deeply satisfying, borderline-romantic experience that makes you sigh wistfully on the flight home and whisper to your beer fridge, "It's not you. It's Maplewood." Forget the watery pretenders and wannabe lagers I sampled around town .....Maplewood's Festbier was the '85 Bears defense of this trip: bold, balanced, and utterly dominant. One fragrant whiff of the hop aroma and I was ready to sing the "Super Bowl Shuffle." It poured a deep golden hue, the kind of color that makes you instinctively hum polka tunes and crave pretzels. The creamy, softly rounded mouthfeel was a show of brewing perfection in the process-- or maybe....more like a perfectly executed play-action pass from Ditka's playbook? Doughy, crisp, and just the right touch of sweetness on the finish, this beer was built for Maplewood's Central European-inspired kitchen. Paired with a German or potentially Polish cheese dip -- a luxurious swirl of fresh white cheese, onion, dill, and warm bread slices so inviting I nearly proposed to them -- the Festbier reached its peak. And yet, there was room for the headliner: a smash burger so good I briefly blacked out in joy. Brioche bun (buttery richness incarnate), molten American cheese (the only acceptable choice here), caramelized onions sweet enough to almost make this a dessert, and a cheeky little kick from what I suspect was jalapeño. Every bite was a touchdown. Of course, even the finest beer and food would lose some of their luster without the right people bringing them to life -- and Maplewood's staff is nothing short of extraordinary. This isn't your run-of-the-mill "take your order, drop your plate" team. These are professionals, craft custodians, who wear their knowledge like a badge of honor and their passion like a warm hug. They speak about hops and malt the way poets speak about love -- and when they recommend a pairing, it's not a sales pitch; it's a story. You get the sense they enjoy being here, that there's genuine pride in every pour, every plate, every detail of the experience. And that joy is infectious. It shows up in the attentive, thoughtful service, in the way they are proud of what they make and they want to talk about it.......in how they seem as excited about your first sip as you are. It's that rare hospitality that makes you feel not like a customer, but like a welcomed guest at a friend's house.... Albeit one with a first class brewing and distilling set up. Before heading home, I did what any rational beer romantic would: I bought a mix case of maplewood beer to bring home with me......it contained one of the only IPA's I truly enjoy....son of juice. This hazy IPA is the kind of beer that doesn't just "pair" with an evening -- it elevates it. It opens with tropical fruit aromas, think mango, papaya, and a hint of orange peel ....then rolls into a lush wave of juicy hop character that's more refreshing than a lake breeze off Michigan Avenue. The texture is velvety, the bitterness gentle but present, and the finish? Clean, bright, and as satisfying as a last-minute Bears field goal that actually goes in. It's the sort of beer you hand to a friend who "doesn't like IPAs," and by the third sip, they suddenly like IPA's Just when you think Maplewood couldn't possibly flex harder, you notice their distillery game. The breadth of their lineup -- from whiskey to gin to spirits that could make Hemingway weep -- is as impressive as their recent accolades from the San Francisco Spirits Competition. I'll save a deep dive for another trip (preferably one without a 2 hour drive back to our summer home), but rest assured: there's a whole other chapter of this love story waiting to be written. Maplewood isn't just one of Chicago's best breweries -- it's a temple of taste, a love letter to beer, food, and good company. It's where Old World brewing tradition meets Midwestern soul. It's where Bears fans argue over quarterbacks while sipping world-class IPAs. It's where the cheese dip matters, the Festbier lingers, and the smash burger haunts your dreams. And it's all delivered by a team whose passion turns a simple visit into something memorable. The beer is brilliant, the food is fantastic -- but it's the people who make Maplewood a place you'll always want to return to. I'll be back. And next time, I'm bringing more friends.

Izzy was my bartender. She crushed it and was super easy to communicate with. She even had me try their bourbon, which I ended up getting. I ordered two samplers so I could try everything they have to offer. I would definitely come back again if I lived in the state. Great place and would recommend to anybody to check it out.

    The Grilled Pineapple Express Burger

It is with heavy hearts and slightly sticky fingers that we announce the passing of the Pineapple Express Hamburger, Maplewood's November/December Wednesday special. A culinary oddball, misunderstood by some, but beloved by so many, it lived a short yet flavorful life. Born on the grill one crisp fall afternoon, the Pineapple Express was known for its juicy beef patty, tangy pineapple ring, and uncanny ability to confuse taste buds. Adventurous eaters rejoiced, while traditionalists offered side-eyes and muttered, "Fruit doesn't belong here." Quotes from the Mourning Public Sous Chef at Maplewood Brewery: "It was bold. It was tropical. I'll miss its courage." Local Patron: "I ordered it once. It was like a luau in my mouth" Local Patron: "We warned it. Pineapple is risky business. But it wouldn't listen." Survived by his cousins, The Smash Burger, very Tasty Cheese Curds, and the Mushroom Flatbread appetizer. Services will be held at Maplewood Brewery. Ketchup and mustard packets will deliver heartfelt eulogies. Guests are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts. A ceremonial tossing of pineapple rings into the fire will follow. In lieu of flowers, please send napkins. Rest in grease, Pineapple Express Burger. You were too sweet for this world, but your memory lingers in the faint scent of charred pineapple wafting through the air.

    Maplewood Flight

First timers to Maplewood. Great vibe, service and of course beer. Plenty to choose from. An extra bonus , delicious food. Hats off to the chef! I think we have found our new "go to" fave!

Yes the kitchen is open during summer. I was just there Friday July 30, 2021 and ordered a salad. I also saw other folks ordering and receiving menu items.

    I don't think so
