Excellent staff! Delicious food! Perfect ambience with both indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly and welcoming, the staff attends to your every need. I enjoyed afternoon cafe y helado and also a refreshing lemonade. Breakfast was creamed spinach omelette with time given to finish my work. A nice spot to watch a sporting event, too. Beautiful location across from a small fountain garden. As mentioned in a review, the older staff will add the 15% tip without asking so be sure to check your bill so that it's what you want and expected. Maque is a lovely spot for any meal or occasion.
So delicious and the location was outstanding, truly such a beautiful spot. Service was excellent as well. Loved my coffee and chilaquiles!
a stones throw from our room and seemingly open all of the time ! At first, we thought it was a fruit cake store as there was a huge hanging sign over the door that must have remained from the holiday.. So funny. But once we walked over, we saw that it was a very lovely, traditional restaurant with very friendly servers. We were able to stand with the employees during our earthquake evacuation into the street. I especially loved my omelets with the creamed flor de calabaza that came with chilaquiles. I will say that the employees are super polite..and can't imagine them running after a customer because they did not tip enough. With that said, the man did go ahead to add 15% to my card as I was signing out, and I said it was fine because I was going to leave that much or more anyway, but they should not have assumed. Jut saay no to the fruit and drinks and pastry tray if you do not wish to purchase them no problem. A delightful spot to just sit and watch people & dogs go back and forth all day long.
Maque is such a lovely little cafe. We were taken in by how charming it is decorated and how the waitresses are dressed in old fashioned dresses. As my daughter says, "It is so aesthetic!" Thankfully, the food tastes as good as the cafe looks. The juices were freshly squeezed and delicious. The orange juice was good and the orange, grapefruit, and carrot combination was even better. The coffee was honestly one of the best cups we had all trip. For our breakfast, we ordered eggs with chorizo and chilaquiles. For something small, we picked the ham and cheese empanada, which ended up being flaky and huge! The chilaquiles were very fresh and spunky. Service was attentive and it was a very pleasant place to eat.
I'm gonna start by mentioning that this was my favorite place I ate at while in Mexico City. The restaurant itself is very cute with very nice indoor and outdoor seating. The service was also very good throughout. Now for the best part... the chilaquiles. SO GOOD! We ordered the chilaquiles with chicken and egg and this was, hands down, my favorite dish of the trip. They bring the pastries on a tray to select from and we went with a classic vanilla concha that was so soft and yummy. Orange juice tasted fresh squeezed and refreshing. There was a mix-up with a raisin muffin (we were told it was a nut muffin with no raisins) but they readily removed it from the bill. We ended up coming back to Maque for more conchas and muffins on another day. Overall, would definitely recommend! And I'll be dreaming about these chilaquiles!
Definitely a tourist trap! However the restaurant is pretty and the coffee is yummy! The food was ok! It was soggy and had a minimal flavor. However, Service is great! They greet you and are very friendly. Several things they need to work on is the people who walk around and pester the customers they should be on top of it more. I was very annoyed with the haggling of items and the people trying to sell me things while trying to enjoy my breakfast. I understand it's their lives but one lady was crying to me telling me of her 5 kids at home and would not leave me alone until I gave her some pesos! I probably wouldn't come back to this restaurant while in Mexico City! The ambiance was pretty and the park next to it is nice for a walk! Watch out there are tons of dogs and definitely an allergy attack waiting to happen. Overall it's a safe neighborhood but I will not be coming back. Thanks Maque.
We stayed in an airbnb down the street, and we walked by Maque numerous times, and it was always busy (and the food looked great). We dropped in on our last day right before heading to the airport for brunch. Chilaquiles, scrambled eggs, lattes, and conchas... we were in heaven. There were a lot of street performers (music), so be prepared to tip for the vibes.
Amazing chicken & mole empanada, season mango melted in my mouth. Great service and English speaking. Such a cute spot with tables outside in a garden area.
Lovely bakery & café restaurant in a tranquil urban area with lots of trees. They make a simply incredible iced Dirty Chai latte, one of the best I've ever had. Smooth, creamy and sweet in a tall glass. The cake I tried was spectacular. It tasted like a tiramisu but with less layers, moist and sweet with chocolate on top. They make fresh pastries and croissants, and I've heard that their cinnamon buns are the best in town. Will try those next. Beautiful outdoor seating and it's nice inside as well. Sparking clean and with an early 20th century classic vibe. Very courteous service. This is definitely going to be my next stop for breakfast !
Brunch here is like being transported to the streets of Paris. The vibes here take on a chic European flare without sacrificing that familiar Mexican flavor! The chilaquiles were insane: so crispy yet lots of flavorful sauce and super tender steak. Additionally, they offer a wide variety of tasty drinks! Honestly, though, wasn't the biggest fan of the blueberry danish we tried, but everything else was 10/10! The service was incredibly kind and accommodating, making the entire experience one of ease and relaxation- a perfect way to start the morning!
Maque is a beautiful gem for breakfast or lunch. We were seated outside, but in a more secluded dining area surrounded by plants, even though it's near the street. Despite this privacy, street vendors run a muck in this area, approach your table and are persistent with their sale tactics--while it's beyond the restaurant's control, it can be a bit intrusive. The breakfast menu offers something for everyone, with a variety of sweet and savory options, as well as light and more authentic Mexican dishes. They have a vast drink selection, but my favorite were the mimosas served with freshly squeezed orange juice. Note: servers will bring pastries or drinks to your table (also intrusive) -- these are NOT complimentary. Don't be afraid to say no. Service: Our waitress took a long time to attend to us on several occasions--it's clear they need more staff or better support. I would advise ordering and getting your bill while you can.
Was looking for a walkable brunch spot near Condessa. The restaurant is a bit small but it is a pretty cafe. The smells of pastries were very welcoming. I had the Italiano omelett with ham on the side and an empanada. Everything was delish. I couldve eaten 567 more empanadas. They were very light. I also took some pastries to go to enjoy back home. They were extremely fresh and endured a long trip home.
I was staying at a hotel close by and decided to stop in due to its Yelp reviews. The Yelpers were right this place is amazing. They start with offering you fruit and a sweet bread. Everyone here is very friendly and welcoming. They have a full bakery in the front. It's a very nice ambiance and the food is delicious. I had the chilaquiles and I can say that they were amazing. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed
Breakfast go to spot while in CDMX! I love the variety on the menu although I stuck to a few greatest hits lol! The staff was very friendly and really answered all my many food questions! I loved the motillas were great I had the bacon ones and the jamon y queso empanadas were delicious! I also tried the molletes and these are definitely worth it! Don't forget to have some type of sweet treat they make amazing bakeries! read more

Tiny little bakery, cafe in Condesa (close to Amsterdam) with sidewalk seating, servers in white shirts, delicious conchas, on a tree lined street, Maque is unassuming and lovely. Our favorite spot for breakfast in the Condesa neighborhood. It has everything you could want, service, style, wonderful baked goods, and a nice professional vibe to the place. There was always a line when we visited, but it moved quickly (and if you are able to get here in the early am, which for the CDMX is around 9 am, you will breeze right in.) Coffee was good enough to ensure we came back (granted, its served in normally tiny CDMX sizing) and the baked goods were wonderful. Growing up near San Francisco, where you can get conchas if so inclined to drive into the Mission, I never understood the appeal. But thats because the conchas I had access to in the US were always dry, a bit stale tasting and I could never get the appeal. Here at Maque, the conchas are delicious, fresh, not too sweet and come in three sizes and different flavors. Now, I understand. Loved their pyramid shaped corn bread (more like a corn pudding/soufle) and their chilaquiles and the beautiful red sauce they are served in, are solid. read more

This place is great! It was very busy on a Wednesday at 10:00 but we still got a table easily. On the edge of the park, it has nice surroundings. They offer sweet breads before your meal comes. We got the mushroom omelette and enchiladas al maistro. The enchiladas I would definitely get again. They were phenomenal. A little bit of spicy zing, but nothing that makes you want to reach for a water to wash it down. The refried beans on the side of the enchiladas were the best I have had in Mexico so far! read more

This was my favorite brunch spot when I went to CDMX. The neighborhood (La Condesa) is so peaceful and charming. The restaurant itself is adorable and has a good amount of seating outside. When we sat down they immediately brought us pan dulce over. My parents loved their pan de elote. They talked about it the rest of the trip. I had the BEST hot chocolate there! It was perfect and not sweet just like I like it. I had their chilaquiles verdes and they were very good. I recommend going early before it gets packed. read more

Stellar baked goods in Condesa. So, this is the New Mexico City, where there are, like, an of places where you can get quality baked goods. That said, most of them are *quality*, ie.., good, but not great. This place though, is *great*. Mind you, you need to suss out the fresh stuff (hint - the aroma), but when you do, boy, will you be happy! Oh, incidentally, the melon-pan ("concha" here?) is to die for... read more

Omg! We had such a lovely breakfast here. The blueberry and corn muffins were so good. I ordered the mollitas and the boyfriend ordered the chilaquiles and ham. Everything was delicious and the staff was helpful and hospitable. The neighborhood was beautiful as well. There were some solicitors, I'm sure they know many tourists are here. But... that's their hustle. Help if you can. read more

We found this cute restaurant near our stay. Beautiful seating outside and inside, wonderful service and amazing food full of flavor. I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados, and wow i think it's the best chilaquiles I've ever had, a definite must try. I also ordered some fresh berries and granola with yogurt and it was delicious and fresh. Lastly I ordered a chai latte which was fantastic. Highly recommend this hip/trendy restaurant if you are in the area! read more
This is a must stop for breakfast or visiting Mexico City. We had breakfast the first day we arrived and it was the last thing we ate before we departed it's that good. The ambience of the restaurant is amazing. Make sure you sit outside where you can see people walking by and enjoying the park across the street. On the weekends people will be playing music that you can enjoy while having a delightful breakfast. This is an amazing bakery with fantastic good. We couldn't decide which bread we should take so each person at our table picked a different one and we shared it. The huevos rancheros and the chili Quiles were amazing. read more

Really cute cafe that has plenty of seating indoors and outdoors with quick service. They have musicians that play live music which can create a really nice ambiance. They have lots of pastries and conchas and pastelittos. I ordered their Napoles omelette (cacti) which which was good and cheesy. Had a nice tangy vinaigrette taste to it. The only thing is that their coffee drinks here is weak. I ordered their almond milk cappuccino which tasted mostly like milk and hardly any espresso. read more
Absolutely love this place, the service is always good. Sometimes a little annoyingly too attentive but I think thats because were not used to such excellent service. WIth that being said, the PAN DE ELOTE is the BEST! all the baked goods are great but thats my favorite. Also very random but they have my favorite granola of all time. I love to order a plate of fruit with granola and yogurt. It may sound simple but trust me its so delicious. Its perfect to sit people watch and have a coffee. Ive been to the Polanco and Condesa locations and they are both equally great! read more

This is the best breakfast spot in Condesa! From the moment you walk in you can smell all the bake goods. We shared a ham and 3 cheese blend omelette and it was divine! They walk around and offer fruit cups and display the bake goods for you to select from. The donuts are huge! Our server Moises was great, they have 2 floors and on the first floor on Saturday morning play live music. We also had the vanilla latte and American coffee and both are very yummy, my husband even got a second cup of Joe. This truly was a great start to our day. read more

International crowd will join you in this efficient and clean place. The female servers look like nurses from a bygone era. Breakfast was nice, they have a good selection for vegetarians. Ingredients seemed fresh. We ordered a cake for a dinner party and it seemed overpriced. Also make sure that you ask all the details of the cake. The pan dulce is on par with any other bakery. Best breakfast meal of my life. Well, at least I think so at the moment. If you are in Mexico City, this spot in Condesa needs to make it into your schedule. MUST TRY: Corn bread cake (Pastel de elote) --so different and literally one of the most delicious things I have had in my life. I had the red chilaquiles and it came with the corn cake and beans with a poblano sauce on top. Note: no wifi at the restaurant. But you will likely be too enthralled with the food to care. Note: come early! (like 8:30am) because it will fill up, and its not a big restaurant. read more

First things first: this restaurant is lovely. It's right on the edge of Parque Mexico, it's very charming inside, and there's lot of nice, outdoor seating, where you are likely to be serenaded with live music. The people watching here is also great -- we were by a table of business men getting their shoes shined and having an extravagantly long breakfast, and I spotted multiple well-dressed women having a solo breakfast and reading/journaling inside the cafe. From our table outside, you could also see the pastries being made in the kitchen, which was really cool! The food here though is not quite up to par with the ambiance. The meal starts with you being offered a bread basket -- we got the pan de elote (a sweet, moist corn bread) and a sweet cheese bread. These were amazing, although a little too sweet for me after a few bites. The bread basket was definitely the highlight of our meal. We got a ham and cheese omelette, the chilaquiles, and the chicken & spinach empanadas to eat (yes, this did turn out to be too much food). I loved the spinach empanada, although the flaky, almost croissant-like pastry was very rich and not what I was expecting (the chicken one was fine, but nothing special). The omelette and chilaquiles were meh. Didn't finish and wouldn't order again -- I've had both better omelettes and chilaquiles at my local diner in New York. Would definitely come back here to people watch and have some pastries and coffee, but in my opinion, not worth your time as a sit down meal. read more
