Enjoyed this new cherry creek spot (we went in January) to the Alteño/alma family. It's not my fav of the collection, but definitely worth a visit! Not a big menu, but I've heard the chefs tasting menu is really well done! Love the ambiance too, and service is always on point.

Mar Bella Boqueria I just opened inside the Clayton in Cherry Creek North -- and it's already a standout! Inspired by Spanish flavors, this new concept comes from Johnny Curiel -- the Michelin-starred chef behind Alma Fonda Fina and Mezcaleria Alma. I went all-in with the omakase at the chef's counter (highly recommend for the full experience), but there's also an à la carte menu if you're dining at tables. Favorite bites: Gambas al Ajillo, Piquillo Rellenos stuffed with oxtail, Croquetas filled with blue crab and topped with otoro, and sous vide steak topped with foie gras. The cocktail menu is also a standout, with a brandy-based play on a Carajillo and an incredible French Martini with pineapple, pomegranate, piquillo pepper, and coconut milk foam. Don't miss out on the thoughtful wine menu! For a white, try the Godello. For a red, a Tempranillo!

Parked with valet - if you're going here you can get valet for $16 (note: need physical card to pay. I expected I could use tap and that was not the case) Ambience is really cute but honest feedback is it's way too dark. I could barely read the menu. Even if the lighting was up 5-10% more, it would be much better and still be a vibe. I hope they make this adjustment. Overall, the food was delicious and no doubt quality, but there was only one dish I thought had that punch of flavor that Johnny's restaurants usually have; Piquillos Rellenos. Beautiful presentation and great flavors. Was basically an art piece! The octopus was fresh and the butter was to die for. Please get an app of that butter + bread!! I personally didn't care for the potato's bravas - it was swimming in some red sauce I didn't prefer but I usually think potato's bravas is a bit lame. I understand it's traditional though so makes sense they have it. The croquetas and the fish on top, on their own, were wonderful, but together was a bit odd for me personally. We had the sweetest server! Attentive but gave us our time. No complaints. Overall, I will be back but probably not monthly like I do at Alma Fonda Fina :)

A friend and I came at 4:30 for a happy hour, and I didn't even realize they had an official happy hour menu, so we were pleasantly surprised. I know it's challenging sometimes to get reservations here, but there was plenty of room at the bar that early and I would assume that's walk-in available. I don't see a happy hour menu online, so I can't look up the exact name of the things we got, but one was tuna (?) with potato chips and the other was potatoes with sauce, ham, and egg. They sound a little odd, but they were so delicious and I would go back just for those! We also had a $12 gin and tonic and a glass of wine on happy hour. On the regular menu, we also had the Gambas al ajillo (shrimp) and Croquetas de jaiba (crab) which were also good. Megan was our server and she was very friendly and helpful. They do add a 2% service fee to the bill.

We did the Chefs Experience and loved it! Usually with omakase style dinner I am left still hungry and not satisfied, BUT not with this experience! With 10 courses of tapas my boyfriend and I both left stuffed and feeling like the experience was worth it. We both enjoyed all 10 courses. The service was top notch. At the Chefs Experience you are facing the kitchen and the designated server is in the middle ready at all times. Very knowledgeable in the dishes, explained the cocktails and wine really well and gave good drink recommendations. The atmosphere is more upscale/ elegant compared to most places in Denver (imo). A little loud inside but my boyfriend and I were able to still have full conversations the whole time. I definitely recommend giving the chefs experience a try!

this team can do nothing wrong. interior 10/10. flavors 10/10. the bread pudding to end it all? 100/10.

Chiles Rellenos (braised oxtail) and patatas bravas

Good food, great service (Chelsea). Highlights flavor-wise were the Jamon iberico with pan con tomate, mariscos, chiles rellenos, patatas bravas, and the basque cheesecake. Good wine and cocktails (spanish martini, red/white sangrias). The sauce with the chile rellenos is outstanding, and the mariscos might be the best dish on the menu.

We had an amazing dinner at Local Jones (LJs) at the Halcyon Hotel, visiting on the second night of their new menu, and they absolutely nailed it. Our party of four was impressed from start to finish. The staff was outstanding--knowledgeable, prompt, and attentive without ever hovering. It felt like they truly cared about making sure we had a great experience. The food was excellent across the board. My New York strip was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The rest of our group loved their dishes just as much--the mussels, shepherd's pie, and braised short ribs all got rave reviews. It's not often that four totally different entrées are all home runs, but LJs pulled it off. Great service, great atmosphere, great food. We will definitely make LJs a regular stop whenever we're in Denver. Highly recommend!

The price was a bit high, but the quality of the meal was spot on. I had the seared scallops with celery root puree, pomegranate seeds, cous cous, and toasted hazelnuts. Divine. My husband had the filet mignon with Bearnaise sauce, and roasted potatoes and asparagus. Also amazing. Both dishes per cooked to perfection. All employees were professional and our server was friendly. The atmosphere was lovely--clean, warm, inviting. It was an interesting journey to find the bathroom. It's shared with other parts of the building and was the only thing that needed attending. Four stars for the messy bathrooms, price being quite high, and it was a 2 hour and 45 min dinner. Took forever. I've never had so many glasses of water in my life in such a short period of time. If you can afford it, I would certainly say the food was almost worth it--desserts were just okay, and one of the appetizers was alright.

There were bright elements in our visit, but overall, I was disappointed. FOOD & DRINK: We ordered a couple of cocktails. The S'mores seasonal cocktail was mostly about sweetness (a not uncommon thing here). My Diabolo cocktail had what might have been a pleasant, lightweight fruit flavor, but that was overwhelmed by Calabrian chilis (which also threatened to overwhelm the apps). Both more or less matched the description on the menu, but the execution was underwhelming. I later had a glass of Chianti, which was nice. We had some Cacio e Pepe Arancini, which did not remind me at all of Cacio e Pepe, and were sort of gooey, though the pesto aioli was a nice touch. We split a Caesar salad which was a good idea because (a) it was huge and (b) it was the tastiest thing we had -- an excellent, garlicky dressing, with a good blend of lettuce, parmesan, and house croutons. My lasagna came in a little metal baking bowl that, duh, it was baked in. It looked very nice, and was a generous proportion, but it made actually cutting up and eating bites of the lasagna a bit awkward. The savory of the sauce in the lasagna was mostly swamped by the sweetness of the ricotta mixture. My wife had Short Rib sauce on Lumache pasta. It was tasty, but not as flavorful as the short ribs or the rest of the menu description hinted. That was an overall flaw of most of what we had -- interesting-sounding items that seemed to have the flavor turned down to 3. For dessert, the salted caramel Budino was fine but too sweet. That also described the Tiramisu. The coffee was good. SERVICE: Though it took a couple of minutes for them to decide on a table for us (though we had reservations and were there on the dot), everything else about the service was outstanding -- our waitress when we needed her, not there when we didn't, and overall very friendly and pleasant. Bravo. AMBIANCE: The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The chairs were surprisingly comfortable and nicely narrow in profile (though wide enough for comfort) so that moving them around and maneuvering past them wasn't a problem. Biggest issue here was that, at 5:45 and for the duration of our meal, the noise level was such that my wife and I could hardly hear each other over the table we were at. Most of the noise, though not all of it, was Happy Hour folk in the bar, and North Italia clearly does a land office business with that cohort. For me, I'd make a point to dine later, if that fit the rest of the plans for the evening. NET-NET: Being in Cherry Creek, parking is always an issue. The adjoining hotel gave us valet service for $14, which was worth it for the convenience. Not counting that valet, or tip, the tab worked out to about $90 each for the two of us which on the one hand I would expect for a higher-end restaurant in the area, but on the other hand seemed a bit steeper than the food experience we'd had. I wouldn't turn down an invitation from a friend to dine at North Italia again -- it wasn't a *bad* meal -- but I wouldn't recommend to a friend as a place to eat. There are a lot of great restaurants, even just in the Cherry Creek area, and I'd rather try (or revisit) one of those, given a preference.

Considering the only other US location is in California, I was surprised and knew this would be my opportunity to try it! The aesthetic is modern & elevated with Japanese wooden features. I got 3 classic dishes which was just the right amount of food. I honestly recommend coming with a group to try more items since you know everything will be delicious. The Yellowtail Jalapeño is a signature dish; the yellowtail was delicate & buttery and the citrus soy with the bight of jalapeño made each bite clean, bright, with some subtle heat. I did not expect the Rock Shrimp Tempura to be that good! The shrimp was lightly battered & fried but the sauces were the highlights! Their creamy spicy is a very well-done spicy mayo but the butter ponzu was unreal! Super addictive, rich, and unlike any sauce I've had before. Shout out to my waitress for suggesting getting both sauces on the side rather than lathered on the shrimp, which also kept it crispy. Last but certainly not least is the famous Black Cod! The fish is super buttery and flaky; there were some caramelized edges from the miso glaze which added so much depth & richness to the bite. It's a good balance of sweetness, savoriness, umami that is bound to be good. All in all, so grateful I got to try what many call an institution and will certainly try more of chef Nobu's restaurants.

Some of courses were delicious and some were mediocre. We spent almost $700 for a party of four. The situation that needs the most improvement was the pace of the meal. The courses were separated by a 20-30-minute wait time. Considering that the courses were very small and contained 5-6 pieces for a party of four... that equates to a little more than a small bite every 20-30 minutes. The dinner took 2.5 hours to develop, and we were honestly still hungry by the end. The waiter started asking us if were "still hungry" at about the fifth courses. By the end, we felt awkward in asking for more. The wagyu beef was particularly disappointing as the beef was somewhat chewy, lacking taste and small. Waiters seemed to be near their capacity of workload. Didn't really take the time to serve, walk you thru the menus, keep the service moving or even gauge your level of satisfaction. We ordered dessert to celebrate the birthday. Apart from a small chocolate plaque on the dessert that said, "happy birthday", there was no attempt to celebrate the occasion as other less exclusive restaurants do... no "happy birthday" wish, no courtesy dessert... nothing special. The best part of this meal was by far, the young couple that accompanied us. Friendly advice: if you want to impress a client with something the feels exclusive... this may be the place. If you are looking for amazing food, being pampered and feeling your money was "well spent", try another place. I don't plan to visit this restaurant soon.
