The price was a bit high, but the quality of the meal was spot on. I had the seared scallops with celery root puree, pomegranate seeds, cous cous, and toasted hazelnuts. Divine. We got our drinks (manhattan and what was supposed to be a lightly dirty martini) and the martini was so salty it was hard to drink. Visiting Denver from the Bay Area, I wasn't sure what to expect from Local Jones in Cherry Creek besides pricey upscale food, but my partner and I ended up having a great experience. We stopped in around 6PM for a quick bite before a movie, and even though the dining room was quiet, the two servers on the floor were kind, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. We let them know right away that we were on a time crunch, and they didn't miss a beat--drinks, food, and check all came smoothly without ever feeling rushed. We decided to keep it light and share two dishes: the hamachi crudo and the Sunday special French dip. The hamachi crudo was exactly what I expected--small but fresh, with bright citrusy notes that made for a refreshing start. The French dip, on the other hand, surprised me. I've never had one before, but this was rich, meaty, and moist, with soft bread that held everything together perfectly. The kitchen even split the sandwich for us on separate plates, each with a generous portion of fries--a thoughtful touch that didn't go unnoticed. We were in and out in under an hour. Worst holiday tea ever! We live around the corner and have been loyal to Local Jones over the years - been here for many dinners and tea events and I've never been so disappointed. They should be embarrassed about calling this a holiday tea. I want my money back, honestly. When one thinks "tea event" you expect tea to be the main focus, right? Not here. We were given a grand total of four options - only one of which had caffeine. We were a party of four so we got to try all four flavors but smaller parties must choose only two - one per course. Out of the four teas, only one was good. Two were oversteeped and extremely bitter and one was just bad. Having three herbal teas for a luncheon time frame event is just bad practice. So yeah, tea was terrible. The food then, you'd think would be the star of the show. No luck here either. The quiche was rubbery and also somehow watery, the little tarts were overcooked, the scones too dry (one literally exploded when picked up), and the desserts cloyingly sweet. The only food item of somewhat redeeming quality was a turkey sandwich. We also weren't given any utensils for the tea accoutrements. Get it together people! Server wasn't very attentive - had to keep asking for more water and my friend wasn't able to have the chocolate scone and was promised a blueberry muffin as a replacement, which never arrived. Wasn't much of a holiday vibe going on and the tea patrons were shoved off into a bland hallway. At least hang some tinsel. Lastly, I booked a table - weeks in advance - for 5 (4 adults and 1 infant) and they seated us at a table for 4. I've never been so appalled at a tea event in my life and for $70 per person this was the biggest waste of money. I would encourage everyone to go elsewhere if looking for a holiday tea. Both times we had to get up and find someone to give our credit card, to pay the bill. The drink menu is great. The cocktails are elevated and creative. The food menu could have been better. The holiday tea was not great. I love a good tea experience and this was not it. For $70 a person, I expected more. We were given two tea options with the "first course" and two more tea options with the "second course." The food was mediocre at best, and sparse as well. Again, at $70 a person, the food should match the price point. We weren't given any spoons with our tea, ya know, to stir in the sugar and cream. Our server was no where to be found during most of our time. I might try this place again, but never for the holiday tea. The ambiance of the restaurant is also very pretty, sleek, and clean. Prices are on the higher side (ie: $19-$20 espresso martinis) Total meal was $80 without tip for 2 dishes and 2 drinks. I love that they have traditional seating but also couch seating and a bar area too with a few TVs. There's street paid parking nearby. They also allow dogs (saw quite a few this day). I arrived during happy hour which has a limited menu of foods. I ended up picking chicken tenders and fries alongside a drink because I didn't feel for any of the other happy hour menu choices. Service was quick and courteous, but I was most surprised by how delicious everything turned out. You'd be surprised how some of these "fancier" restaurants screw up even the simplest of dishes by overengineering them, but these tenders and fries were better than from fried chicken places. This was one of the best brunches I've had: service was excellent, ambience perfect and the food so delicious. My friend and I had Greek salad, which was very fresh, and ribs with egg and potatoes, very tasty. On the sweet side we shared the huge cinnamon roll, fresh, tasty and not very sweet. We stayed at the Halcyon for three nights this month. Our rate included a room credit that covered our breakfast meal. Local Jones is a spectacular place to start your day. The restaurant is large, bright with large show window that brings in a lot of light, clean, and with modern decor. A large cocktail bar in the center sets the tone and brings in an upbeat vibe. There are numerous tables around the bar and main dining area. The first morning, I ordered the delicious sweet and pleasantly tart tasting fruit plate with granola . Blueberries, boysenberries, strawberries, crunchy granola, and whipped cream are presented on the fruit plate. Honey is dripped to sweeten the plate. Incredibly tasty! On the second morning, I ordered a delicious omelette with all things veggie. The service is top-notch. Both Rashid and Grace ensured that we had everything we needed to start our day. They were both prompt, efficient, and served us with a smile. Thank you to Rashid and Grace for their friendly service. As for drinks, the coffee is quite strong; the way I enjoy it. Unfortunately, the service was not great for the experience. The server lack personality and enthusiasm. The service was also very slow though the restaurant wasn't busy. This is one of the three restaurants in the Halcyon Hotel in North Cherry Creek, billed as a neighborhood bistro and bar. It is on the first floor of the hotel and includes a large dining room, a central bar, quite a bit of seating on the bar side, and a private dining room/meeting room. We sat in the dining room on a previous visit, but were seated on the bar side this time. The bar seating includes a huge sofa against the back wall instead of the usual banquette. My handicapped friend sat in the corner of the sofa and pronounced it the most comfortable restaurant seating ever. The space is both elegant and comfortable with lots of wood and all sorts of nice seating. There's also a large outdoor patio. I ordered the crispy salmon which came with rings of delicata squash, a celery root purée, small chunks of apple, and a brown butter sauce. Every item was perfectly cooked and the combination of flavors was marvelous. The dish was absolutely delicious. I did find it very difficult to scrape the purée out of a rounded dish with only a knife and fork, though. My friend ordered the "proper" turkey club. The sandwich was huge and the ingredients were first-rate. He also requested a "side" Caesar salad. The salad was enormous and we both shared it which was great because it went perfectly with my salmon dish. The restaurant was not at all busy, but the kitchen remained as slow as on our previous visit several years ago. The waiter annoyed me by completely disappearing after serving our food. I would have liked a refill on my Arnold Palmer and a spoon to deal with that pesky purée, but it was not to be. He did handle the check promptly once we were finished. The food here is excellent and the space is gorgeous. Just don't expect a quick meal or attentive service. Valet parking is available. read more

If you're paying a premium for a "higher end" menu item it should feel that way the short rib should be the star of the show. Instead it felt like a small topping that you had to dig for to find. The young hostesses was a bit off putting, when I asked to sit outside on the nice day she was like uh no and when I asked her to sit right near the windows, she ended up sitting me in the back corner right next to the kitchen. The whole place was empty and I was in the back corner away from the nice day I wanted to enjoy. It took 5-8 minutes for someone to bring me a menu and the hostesses had to bring me some water. When they ended up seating a bachelorette party, it was at the table right next to me while I was trying to quietly read. I totally get servers have areas but not sure why it was so hard to be sat outdoors. Food wise the options all looked great for lunch. I went with the chicken Caesar salad wrap and it was tasty. Fries are a bit dry for me but the wrap was very worth it. Coming back for a drink one night, the bartender was 5 star- he went over all the bourbons they had and gave us some awesome suggestions.
