Ok, so again, huge huge disclaimer towards being a sandwich person. But these high quality, highly authentic, highly addicting cuban sammiches from this mom n pop shop??? I am now Guilty as charged for sandwiches! So I have tried a cubano here and there from other restaurants that just happen to have cubanos available. They were good too, but i was definitely not aware of HOW good real cubanos could be! This place schooled me big time! I have tried their classic cuban sandwich and eventually was enticed by their sandwich de pernil because it consisted of onions and peppers which i LOVE. And without fail, i will always order their tostones as a side rather than fries or anything else. I am hands down BANANAS for tostones! XD lol and they make them flawlessly. Every. Single. Time. Sadly i was not as huge a fan for the pernil but it was still absolutely delicious! As for their classic cuban, i am absolutely obsessed! Their slow cooked pork is Heaven on Earth. The seasonings are savory yet not overwhelming. I also love how they add chunks of the meat rather than slices, which allow a better dose of these flavor bombs! I think what has me sold as a sammy person for this place the most is just how much food you get in a $$9 plate. They know how to feed a girl!!! Especially me! Keep in mind though that they seem to compensate for their limited business hours with their magical products. They close by 6PM so scurry! This is as good as cuban gets kids! You won't regret ordering anything here! their pastillos are also amaze balls! whether its sweet with guava and cream cheese or savory with beef, GET IT!

Best food I've ever had! So unique and authentic. Didn't need dinner after this sandwich meal.

El Paso never ceases to amaze me with the random, hole-in-the-wall places and the quality that these places bring. Ambiance - Nothing special, but the nice decor with a nod to Puerto Rico was nice to see. Service - You order at the register, but you're not expected to pay yet. You're able to grab any drinks you like during your meal and then you can pay for everything at the very end. The ladies who work there were so friendly and helpful especially since it was my first time! They seemed to be having fun while working too which was refreshing to see. Food - Had the Cuban and Philly Cheesesteak with the tostones. Philly Cheesesteak was average but the cuban was delicious! Warmly pressed and just hit all the right spots. The tostones were great as well. The portions are huge so be prepared when you figure out whether to get the small, medium, or large. Overall, what a little gem that I wish more people knew about. Great food, great portions, great prices. Will definitely be back!

Love this little place. Not only do they serve authentic Puerto Rican/Cuban food but they're service is wonderful. Love their Cubano sandwich. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. Hot and crispy on outside and filled with meats and cheese on inside. Yum!

Pastelillos de Guava was out of this world

I want to give this place 8 star honestly. Came in at noon after finding them on yelp and happen to be in the area. Came in and let me tell you that the two ladies that work here are amazing! They will make you feel like you matter as a customer. Their food could be horrible and I'll still come because of them. Their food however is far from horrible. After speaking with them for a bit, I decided on the Cuban Sandwich with Tostones, a side of their rice and a Guayaba(Guava) empanada. The Sandwich alone weighs like 5 pounds. It was so big and packed that I could honestly eat half. And I'm a big guy! The tostones and sauce were on point. The sandwich was spot on with the pulled pork and flavors. My only thing I wished I wound have asked to not get was butter on the bread. That's just me, I don't like butter. The Empanada was out of this world. The cream cheese and guava was silky and smooth! Now let's talk a about the rice. The rice here is the hidden gem no one talks about. That rice was absolutely out of this world! I could come here just for the rice. I mean everything here was delicious . But this rice I would come for just that.

Glad I found this little spot. The Cuban was really good. Great balance of flavor. Had generous amount of pork. Ordered the 6" with tostones and a coconut sparkling soda. Was super filling.

Oh yeah! Puerto Rican food here in El Paso! I came here with my gal pal prior to going to the outlet mall (the plan was we were going to walk off lunch). The plan worked great and the food did not disappoint! We each had a SMALL Cuban sandwich- let me tell you it was larger than anticipated- I cannot imagine what the large sandwich is like. We also had the empanadas and they were fried to a crispy tasty goodness...I am thinking about them right now! As I bit into the empanada, the authenticity of the flavor took me back to New York; it was delicious. They did not have main food items like rice and beans, etc but the sandwiches are perfect.

The best Cuban sandwich in the El Paso/Las Cruces area. If your aching for a good Empanadilla or Sandwich de Pernil, then Maracas is the best place. Remember Tripletas from La Marginal that later spread throughout Puerto Rico. Well the closest you will find in this part of the USA is at Maracas.Like Alcapurrias? Maracas ha them most of the time. Let's talk breakfast sandwiches Puerto Rico "panadería" style. Come and get them at Maracas. Jamón, queso y huevo. Maracas is a gem in El Paso.

I dropped in on Maracas for the first time the other day, and ordered 3 medium sandwich. There were a few people in the restaurant but it wasn't too busy. The restaurant was clean and there was plenty of seating available with most of the tables seating two. The two employees working that day were very friendly and helpful with making menu selections. The three sandwiches took a little while to make; more than you might expect if you're used to purchasing Subway sandwiches. However, if you are accustomed to eating Subway sandwiches, you will be left in awe of the quality of these sandwiches. The Cuban Sandwich, Hot Beef Pastrami, and Philly CheeseStake sandwiches we ordered were excellent! The flavor of each was extraordinary and the size of the medium sandwich, approximately 9 inches, was ample. I would recommend any of the three sandwiches we ordered, but the Cuban Sandwich was our favorite. With our purchase we got two orders of French fries and one order of Tostones. Now, I had to ask, so I'll tell you just in case you don't know. Tostones are smashed and fried plantains. They were really good and came paired with a dipping sauce that complimented it nicely. This was a fan favorite of my daughter. The French fries were plentiful but nothing extraordinary, and I'd probably stick with the Tostones in the future. There was a drink cooler that had cans of Coke products, Dr Pepper and a selection of foreign drinks and sodas. If you are a fan of great food, and sandwiches in particular, give Maracas a try. You won't be disappointed with the decision.

And the angels broke out in a song of 'Hallelujah!' El Paso is simply my hometown because I've spent the most consecutive years in this city, but that by no means equates to me being less traveled or less culturally foodie educated. I've lived in many different states and even a couple of different countries. And if there's one thing I do a lot of...it's eating. And I always want to eat something new or different. So luckily for me, the growth of the EP restaurant scene in the past five years has been nothing short of amazing. Hallelujah! I stand by my original positive three star review because any time I step into an establishment (be it a hole-in-the-wall or upscale) I want the total package. I want the ambiance, I want the impeccable food, I want the above and beyond service, and I want to feel completely immersed in a world outside of my own (whether I'm transported by food, decor, or a mixture of both). Three stars is a good review, mind you, I just wanted more. And I finally got more! Enter, the new Maracas! I'm making an educated guess, but I think moving directly next door into the newly built strip mall had more to do with the expanding of Talbot Ave. (and the adjoining street). Their intention to move regardless is a possibility, but I really do think Talbot played into it and honestly they're in a better location (immediately visible to those headed to the Outlet Mall) with a colorful catch-your-eye sign. After a couple of hours of work, munching on Ritz and Oreos, I decided it was time. It was time to give Maracas another go at this new location. I walked in to a much smaller restaurant. Cozy. More suitable to their needs. And the way it's decorated you can no longer call it a hole-in-the-wall. It's more casually trendy now. A faux brick wall that felt kind of New York. The bricks even make their way to the trashcan in a slow "I'm becoming NY" kind of way...or maybe "I'm breaking out of NY" depending on how you look at it. Either way I thought that was a cool touch. Framed photos, news articles, flags, and the like are hung on the walls with purpose. The full menu reads above the counter still and pictures of the sandwiches are still printed on the counter. Just enough improvements without changing completely so it still feels like the old Maracas you know and love, just better. The owner, Ramon, was there in the entity of both cashier and chef and his attitude is so similar to what I'd expect from a food truck...you know, an owner that has a touch in absolutely every aspect of their business and your experience from start to finish. I absolutely love that, it's more personal and just makes you appreciate the service. He was pleasantly interested in my overall experience without being overbearing and honestly he comes across as the kind of person you could have a real conversation with while dining here. I knew I had to give their Cuban another go and this time without a doubt I was getting the garlic-butter hash-browns. I grabbed myself a green tea out of the fridge (canned and bottled products only, but I like it because it feels authentic) and unloaded my stuff on a table. Strangely enough, I kind of prefer dining alone so I poured into the book I am currently reading. I was expecting a bit of a wait since everything is made to order, but it was out in under 15 minutes. The Cuban was golden to perfection and the hash-browns were yellow ever so slightly (so I knew there would be a discernible buttery taste). I seriously plowed into the hash-browns. Salty, buttery, garlicy. The trifecta of everything I want in life. No ketchup needed. I should mention I ordered the 8 in. Cuban which should be labelled "Warning: Don't do this alone." But your girl can eat. Yes, I finished it...for two reasons, 1. When I eat with a partner I use how much they're eating as a measurement of how much I should eat, and 2. It was just that damn good! The Cuban was buttered on the outside and layered with all the deliciousness I remembered. It was pressed to the heavenly-th degree! I kind of wish I hadn't finished it because that would've been amazing to wake up to. And the angels broke out in a song of 'Hallelujah!'

When we first pulled up, there were only two cars in the parking lot, so we assumed it was pretty empty inside. It was. There were about 4 people in there. No one checked our ID, or greeted us. The interior was nice and modern looking. The bartender (possibly manager?) approached us and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We didn't, not right away. We just wanted to check it out. As my girl and I sat on the couch for about 5-10 minutes, the bartender came back and told us "You guys can't just sit there. If you're not going to get anything to drink, I'm going to have to ask you guys to leave." So, we left. Not to mention, my girlfriend was working on setting up the app they had, so she could play music requests. But, the bartender just approached us in a rude manner and was pretty straightforward that if you don't pay to buy something to drink, you're gonna get kicked out. So, just keep that in mind guys. We then went to La Mina Bar & Night Club - and they were so much more friendly; didn't force you to buy a drink, either!

We were chillin and then I'm guessing the guy that owns the club/bar or the manager was like "since you guys aren't buying drinks, I'm going to have to kick you out. You guys can't just sit here." I was baffled. We had just got there like literally for 5 minutes. I've never been kicked out of a bar before for not buying drinks. I just said "okay" and we walked out. I didn't know how to respond or react. We went to another club/bar called La Mina Bar and Night Club.
