This place was very bright, clean, and provided friendly service! The picadillo pizza with mushrooms was very good. The crust was nice and crispy and ingredients tasted fresh. Pizza came out in about 15 mins while we snacked on our appetizers of garlic rolls and french fries. We got a medium pizza between three people and ended boxing 1/2 to go as the pizza is very filling especially after two appetizers. The cortaditos at the end of the meal were absolutely delicious and kept us awake on our hour drive home. If you're in the area, check this place out! read more

This place just makes me happy. Nothing fancy about it. Only a few tables inside. Simple decor. Make sure you check out the men/women's sign on the bathroom door. They have beer and wine and offer delivery too. On to the good stuff . . . the food. First we started out with the Malanga Fritters and OMG were they awesome. They were deep fried and had an awesome crust on the outside, and then they were served with this oh so perfect cilantro dipping sauce. We ended ordering two orders. Make sure you get them. Now comes the pizza. Do you remember the square pizzas that Little Caesars used to serve back in the day? Well the best part about that pizza is that it didn't have a crust so there would be cheese to the edge. What that would create is a salty burnt cheesey edge that was literally probably the best part of the pizza. Well guess what?! Marakas Pizza has that AMAZING cheese to the edge pizza. BOOM. The thickness is similar to a pan pizza. It's crispy and has the perfect ratio of cheese to bread to toppings. We got the veggie and the toppings were cooked under the cheese which was different and so yum. Nothing really beats the crustless part of the pizza and that salty burnt cheese edge. Love it. This is the 4th time we've ordered from Marakas. This first time was great!!!!! The second time was good. The third time...our guests were like...it's okay. This last time, the food was hideous. We ordered garlic break ( It tasted like it had been in a can) pizza (it was DISGUSTING!!!!!) and 2 orders of lasagna (We gagged when we ate it..there was oil at least 2 inches deep almost covering the lasagna.) I dont know if it's changed owners or what, but we will NEVER order food from here again. Its not a cheap place....but it's not really expensive either...but you definitely can find better pizza at any of the big chains and etc. PLEASE bring back the old owners!!!!! read more

Reading fellow reviewers I decided to give this place a try cause my Fave location: El polo Norte does not open on Monday. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. My pizza was raw on the inside. It did have a lot of cheese and it was greasy but that was it. Not fluffy or thick. It was RAW. The Crema de queso was nothing out of the ordinary, reheated on the microwave cause no way a crema de queso takes 5 minutes to make. Anyway, I'm not terribly familiar with Cuban pizza. I've had El Rey before, and that's about it, and the main reason I ate there was because it was so bizarrely different to other pizza I'd had before. Not my favorite, so I didn't know what to expect from Marakas, but the pictures seemed promising. What you get when you order from Marakas is a fairly greasy but downright DELICIOUS pan pizza. This is what I wish I could get all my homemade pan pizzas to look like. The flavor is amazing, the crust is outrageously fluffy... Listen, imagine for a moment that Pizza Hut was actually REALLY GOOD at making pizza, and then make that like ten times better. Comparing this place to Pizza Hut is actually really rude to Marakas. I'm sorry, Marakas. I literally have no reference point to compare your pizza to on a personal level except for that, and you blow them out of the water. Their tiramisu was really tasty. Their french fries were actually incredibly good, even after being delivered (this was kind of a surprise, because they'd normally get fully soggy and awful, but they were still pretty decent). Girlfriend maintained that the chicken sandwich was actually really good for what she thought was a "random place". I was really craving pasta and boy did we get it. I have to say the quality of the pasta was amazing. I had the chicken Alfredo and taste was 4.5 worthy. My biggest complain about the pasta is the amount of grease/oil it comes with. I honestly felt like I was eating a soup with pasta and hated myself because the food was just too good not to keep eating. We also ordered some of the garlic rolls, and even though they were tasty they weren't toasted at all. Now when we put them on our toaster oven for a bit, we had some real good garlic rolls(We had ordered 4 orders of em.) Overall, I'd probably come again. Ordered late night pizza on my way to a friends house. This is a small cuban pizza restaurant I ordered through yelp which was an awesome experience. As soon as I arrived I was attended and picked up my order quickly and swiftly. The restaurant does have indoor seating but its very limited and small would not do big groups.
