New Owners, Better Menu, Incredible Food! We stopped in for lunch today. The new menu was just printed this morning. The choices were fantastic and it made it difficult to choose. They had the usual burgers and such but their hot dog selections and small bites added to the difficult decision on what to order. I love, love, love a great poké bowl. Great little restaurant we came across. Husband was craving a hamburger and we just so happen to find this cute little gem. The atmosphere was sports/bar like but also family orientated. Give stars for our first stop in the keys! We are honored to start our adventure here at the Ale House. This is my husband's type of place and they have not disappointed us! It's a cool sports bar and a scale above divey. Friendly service, as we were greeted with welcoming arms. I ordered the blackened Mahi tacos, which was very delicious. I am not a slaw type of gal but the slaw they paired with the tacos were heavenly. Tonight's special (Thursday) are their wings. My husband ordered hot honey and also lemon pepper. Great bartenders, okay food. Unfortunately, we ended up here because it was the only place still serving food after 10pm. And it was trivia night. It was the loudest, longest trivia night I've ever sat through. On a Wednesday night. Just be forewarned. Also, all the smokers congregate right outside the door on the sidewalk so it can be a bit like running a gauntlet. It's a fairly typical pub atmosphere. Lots of televisions showing various sport balls, a long bar, and a huge seating area with tables, high tops, and booths. Really good selection of tappers, including local brews. read more

If you want a loud bar atmosphere where they overcook food hoping you don't notice...this is your place. It was only the place we went because it was the only place open after 10 pm without driving far. In its defense, it's a bar so I didn't have high expectations, but I have been to many bar and grills that have excellent food...thus doesn't. Because everything on the menu was essentially fried, I only ordered the soft pretzel which was anything but soft. It was very dark brown let's call it and solid as a rock on the top 2 parts of the pretzel and the bottom had to be cut with a serrated knife and was too hard to eat. I really was thinking they threw that in the deep fryer! The restaurant side only had 4 other people eating, so it wasn't too busy, but our server wouldn't even check back on us so I could tell her it was inedible until I flagged her down. She didn't even apologize. The did have specials on some appetizers my husband tried. The potstickers were also deep fried (way too long), and the bang band shrimp turned out fine. If you eat too late to catch a better place like us or just like a loud bar with crappy service (well, our server was) and food they don't care about...this may be 5 star for you! read more

Before arriving, a call was made to ensure a reservation was not needed to be seated prior to arrival. The person on the phone stated no, you can just walk in and be seated. Upon arrival, we inform them we are here to dine and they say they have no tables available right now and that one side of the place wouldn't be free for another 2 1/2 hours. But the other side it may be about 15min to wait. We proceeded to place a name on the "waitlist". While waiting, additional people started to arrive. A group went inside and was immediately sat inside on the original "2 1/2 hour" wait side which they just cleared up. We went back inside to ask why they were seated before us. They mentioned a "trivia" night and now they don't know how long the wait will be. Keep in mind, that group who was seated before us was not involved in "trivia" night. Because of this, we left and went to another restaurant who would appreciate our contribution to their shitty customer service. I do not recommend this place. Keep driving. read more

I got the crab cakes, they are a good size with fries, coleslaw, side salad and a breadstick, so even though the price was nearly $27, I did get a lot of food.
