Honestly, if you are in New Britain and you're not getting pizza from Marathon, are you really getting pizza? I come here whenever I'm in town, and it was my grandmothers favorite place for pizza. Large onion pizza every time. You just can't get this kind of pizza anywhere else. I've tried. This is a small family pizza restaurant. "Hole in the wall" so while it may not have the best dining ambiance, the food is great. They make an amazing pizza, Greek style crust with an amazing somewhat sweet sauce. Good food and good price! read more

Nobody could say anything bad about this place. Family run and owned since the 70's, and YES it still has the 70's cheesy wood panneling. Oh, use the creepy turn around towel dispensor at your own risk in the bathroom lol. I seriously have been eating here since a child and remember playing the Mrs. Pacman game since, and will take my kids here too, god willing it is still around by then. The BEST Greek pizza around. I live in Bristol and every once in a while find my self traveling all the way to New Britain just for some of thier signature pizza. The cheese is just unreal here! [Before reading this, keep in mind it has been a good 3 years since I have eaten here, so its theoretically possible this place has changed since then....but I doubt it...] When we moved to NB 5 years ago, my ex loved this place. Just another case of the two of us not seeing eye to eye. This little pizza joint, originally next door to an adult book store, then an auto parts store, has only 3 parking spaces. Once inside, a typical pizza dive awaits you (cheezy dated booth seating, old soda machine, old video game). The guy behind the counter (who I guessed was the manager) looked like an extra from Saturday Night Fever, with the shirt unbutton half way down his hairy chest, a tacky gold necklace, and sunglasses (so bright he needed sunglasses indoors I suppose). On my first trip I whipped out my credit card to find out the cc machine was "broken". On future trips, the machine was "broken" and finally they simply stated they only take cash and stopped making excuses for the poor machine. The pizza was as greasy as his hair and as original as dirt. Just boring, greasy, pizza. Finally we stopped eating there and settled for other places in the area, but Marathon was clearly a place to avoid. read more

It's typical Central CT Greek pizza... Some people like it and if you do you will love their pizza. I prefer thin crust Italian style pizza so find their pizzas greasy, their toppings boring, and the mushrooms taste like can mushrooms. This place is great. As authentic as a little pizza parlor can be. Just stopping in there, you know you're getting the real thing. And you could definitely tell it is a family-run business. They were very friendly and funny dudes, with what was probably they're father or grandfather at the cash register. Places like this make me feel warm and fuzzy. We kept it simple and got a large cheese pie and it was absolutely delicious. Nothing better than authentic, family-owned businesses. I will always support little gems like this! Pizza is pretty average. Had sausage with red peppers. You can tell the sausage was quality meat and was seasoned well. The sauce and crust just didn't have any flavor. For the price though it's not bad, it's just nothing special. read more

A coworker of mine told me this pIace has good pizza so I thought I would give it a try. The inside decor of the restaurant is dated like Maximus Z said with wood grain walls and tables and orange countertops. I ordered a small cheese pizza, the pizza is greek style with lots of cheese, the dough was thin and flat, the sauce tasted like a jar sauce that i've had in the past and the crust was dry and tasteless. While the other review of this place is very true right down to the owner Mr. Sat night fever...I have to disagree and say the pizza is yummy! We only get take out, and one of the three parking spots is always free! Just make sure you aren't too early....Mr. Sat night does not like to take those pizzas out of the oven before they are DONE and he glares at you as you wait!! I've never had a credit card machine issue, so they must have fixed that. I don't recommend the grinders...just pizza! read more
