This establishment was originally in another location on the same block. Due to a fire at the old location, it moved to a more spacious area. The new location looks more inviting as well. The ambiance is filled with appetizing scents and great music. When my group and I arrived, we were directed to sit where we wanted. Our table was only the third table occupied yet the owner still had to finish setting up the table. We placed our order of ceviche de pescado, chaulafan, encebollado de pescado, viche de pescado, and fritada. We ordered Ecuadorian sodas which is a must at an Ecuadorian restaurant. Our drinks arrived two minutes after placing the order and then no one approached our table until the food came 20 minutes later. The food then arrived and everything was delicious. The pork fried chunks were flavorful. The encebollado was filled with pescado and the portion of the meal was plentiful. By the time we finished our meal, there was only one other table in the place. We were sitting with our empty plates in front of us for about 10 minutes and no one approached our table. After realizing no one was going to approach our table, we walked to the front, paid the bill, and left. Overall, the food was delicious and plentiful for the price. The prices for the soda did not match the price on the menu. If I had to propose a suggestion from a fellow Ecuadorian that wants to see this business succeed, I would propose two. The first suggestion would be to provide your customers with complimentary chips, nachos, or even popcorn. This would give your customers a chance to snack on something before their food comes. The second suggestion would be to be more attentive to the customers. Our table was only approached three times: when we placed our order, when we received our drinks, and then when we received our food. No one asked us if we wanted another drink or how the food was. The million dollar question: would I revisit this establishment? Yes, I would. read more

Thought we were going to experience a local favorite, a hole in the wall with delicious Ecuadorian food. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The food was very bland. I had the hen stew with rice, slaw and plantain and my husband had the grilled chicken (churrasco and we requested chicken instead of steak). For 16.99 I would have expected at least a drumstick or breast, instead they gave me a neck, foot, a mystery back/spine piece, and another mystery piece that may have contained some thigh. What am I supposed to do with a bland bony foot and neck? It was very minimal meat. The flavor was good but there was very minimal seasoning. A little salt and pepper would have transformed this subpar experience into a solidly good experience. The rice was plain but good, the slaw came with avocado and it was good, and the half of plantain was naturally delicious. The grilled chicken platter was also bland and barely grilled. The guava and blackberry juices were good. Gratuity/service charge was included. Total bill was a little under $60. The place was packed on a rainy day so it seems we're the only disappointed ones. I am not pleased with the customer service. my dad owns an Ecuadorian restaurant and I have never seen this quality of customer service. being that my father owns an Ecuadorian restaurant I know the typical tastes of the food. the encebollado WAS GROSS. when we asked kindly to see if we could replace it with another soup they said no they could not because it was already made. basically saying we had to pay for food we would not be eating. What a Find - After missing the Soundview Ferry and now having over an hour to kill until the next one, my family and I wondered in to Maravilla's Bar & Grill ( 10 minute walk to Ferry Terminal). It was meant to be! We were warmly greeted as we came into this family run, cozy and friendly Ecuadorian restaurant. Kenny, a young entrepreneur, Bronx native and 1st generation Ecuadorian American, walked us through the menu pointing out some of the local favorites. The food was fantastic, the service was great, the atmosphere was cozy and friendly and prices are great. Very affordable. We will definitely be back, and not just to kill time for the ferry. This is definetly the best Ecuadorian place to eatin NYC. Upon entry u see prominently displayed an "A" rating issued by NYC for cleanliness. Should be rated an "A" for food and service as well. Young staff with no haste in service to get you out. Cause the place is small but quaint and comfortable. The owner/chef actuallu greets you during your meal with a warm and friendly smile and small conversation. Prices are reasonable. Parking is readily available in front and nearby. Wouldn't plan a large dinner party only because limited space. But i imagine in the future that will change. Although I've never waited long for a seat either! I wanted to treat my husband for Father's Day at the Ecuadorian restaurant, Maravilla Bar and Grill located at 254 Soundview Avenue, Bronx, Ny. We were the third in place, the man attending allowed two families that came after we arrived to go first. The two families before us were very upset that the owner had skipped them. He had no consideration that we were waiting. We addressed the issue and his response was that "this is my restaurant and I do what I want". He didn't apologize and was arrogant. I guess he doesn't want new customers. I don't recommend new customers to eat at this place. Needless to say we left and went to Brisas Restaurant, which is our usual place. Our favorite Ecuadorian restaurant continues to be Venus located in Passaic, New Jersey. read more

Today was my first time going to try this place and in Facebook and in Yelp they put their hours until 8:00 Sunday and I Jair stopped my at 5/50 and the person inside said they close at 5;00 this really sucks. I won't be coming here again if for a restaurant they should be open according to the hours posted. So not cool!!! Food here is delicious, but what's disappointing is they open and close as they please. Their hours are not correct online, and they don't even post the hours in front. On top of it they don't even answer the phone so you can check before driving over if they're even open. When I asked them why they don't answer the phone, the response I received was "we don't take pick up orders." I think this is extremely inconvenient service and effects potential business. :( read more
